There are many different audio reviewers out there. In this episode, we tackle the negative comments from people who simply don't understand what S|A is all about and why products are put through such rigorous testing standards - which are really no standards at all. It's really not a "Showdown" video - but I let ChatGPT do the coverart - or most of it. As in the video, I referred to the @Audio...

The CheapAudioMan Hypocrisy Continues
Переглядів 18 тис.2 місяці тому
Once again we are told one thing by Randy @cheapaudioman only to be sold another thing reflecting the EXACT opposite of what he told us was a lie before. Lots of people shill products on UA-cam, but in the world of audio, Randy seemingly doesn't know how to keep his own idiocy from interfering with what he is shilling. Luckily, the second biggest shill in audio (me), is here to call him out.

The standby mode issue and the EQ issue at low vol will be updated in the next firmware :) All users who have registered their monitors online in the MyAdam section will be proactively notified as soon as the update is available.
Be aware the USB connection is 16bit :)
Excellent review! Where can I get the $300 optical cable that you mentioned? /s
This is the second or maybe third time I've watched this video and all I can say is thank you. Not so much for the Andrew Robinson comments, but more for helping me face reality, I think. I've looked at the Yamaha A-S801, specs, reviews and felt it was a worthwhile investment for what you get. But then of course I'm being led away by so many other prophets in this world of video reviews of so many other audio components. My last thought before seeing this video again, was to purchase a Emotiva PT-2 preamplifier and connect to a pair of Outlaw 2220 mono blocks amplifiers. Wow!!!! The Outlaws specs look great, 200 watts and all, the Emotiva appears to have a decent phono input, but is maybe on a par with the Yamaha DAC. So here I am, hmmmm the Outlaws even though priced decent, $699 for a pair and Emotiva priced also at $699 which seems like a fairly decent price, puts me at $1398 for this set up. And separates look so Cool!! Should in theory perform well with my Bowers and Wilkins 706 S2's and my 650 watt Definitive Technology Super Cube 2000. But will I really notice that a $500 price difference? Plus now I have two more pieces of equipment to plug into the surge protector, along with more interconnect cables and maybe the chances of harmonic hum going up also. But with the Yamaha I love having separate bass, treble and loudness controls, that I can actually walk over to and turn, not go into the settings of a system and find them. Oh, I am so confused. Well, here I go into audioholic anonymous for rehab. Wish me luck.
The greatest audiophile component ever is gift from God is our ears.
But he’s more entertaining than you and your fake background. And he’s not insulting others. We don’t take everything he says for granted, but he’s truly knowledgeable.
You have to run pink noise in the room for 250 hours to break it in first…
Pink noise break in really?😂
I am a big believer in stand mounts with sub... but it is very hard to find good stands which often brings them to price parity with floor standers... still... imaging is also better with stand mounts... so they still win out in my book.
Whether we are "forced" to listen to music is a personal choice. I have put a vinyl record on and listened to it in the background while doing other things. Admittedly, I have committed the "heresy" of using a turntable with auto lift. I have also listed to my CDs all the way through without skipping tracks, because it takes a lot to get me to skip a track. I prefer to hear an album in order, as the artist created it, no matter what format it came in. But that's just me. I don't have $1,000 to spend on a turntable. I'd rather buy a $10.00 swap meet DVD player and send my CDs out the optical cable to my amp's DAC. But then I'm not a real audiophile. If I was, I'd never admit to still using a Denon DP-30 II turntable with direct drive and auto lift. (And I have a Pickering Dustamatic cartridge with a conical stylus for those delicious old swap meet 45s and LPs, for when an elliptical stylus would only reveal more faults in the records!) I love this video. If I had a million dollars to spend on a turntable, I'd buy a Bugatti Veyron so I can drive to the owner of a million dollar turntable and laugh at him in person!
Just ordered a pair in rosewood. Anxious to hear 'em!
Good choice with the Rosewood. Absolutely gorgeous. Just be prepared, they want watts aplenty and they’re big!
Perfection through imperfection. The ways of Apollo are indeed whimsical.
hands down to Danny. i would trust him 1000% with my speakers' upgrade. enough said.
I totally agree with you S|A. That room is acoustically terrible. I didn’t even see a place to put a litter box for Helmholtz. LOL!
But what does “Helmholtz” believe?
Thanks!
Thank you!
A nice audiophile?! HAHAHAH!!!
Did they fix the standby issue (output not activating the speakers in standby)?
Not yet. Rumor is February 25.
Take everything and anything from any reviewer on UA-cam with a grain of salt, even this guy.
Just remember that bass sucks power, and a doubling of power is a 3dB increase (barely perceptual). It takes 10 x dB power to double the volume.
Well said sir! 😊
Erin is a good faith actor and does amazing work. What dipshit move on eric's part.
allah says : a record is a piece of plastic with very fine grooves, any clean liquid that can get in there to rid contaminants is good enough, dont have to treat it like mohammed's penis
IMO. Danny is the guy to go to. after all, HE IS A DESIGNER. he knows his stuff, and knows a lot.. he can make things sound, perform, and work better . where by Andrew is like a sales man. he makes money off of reviewing gears. i had probably watched his Videos 2 or 3 times only. i felt like sitting in a classroom being lectured by a boring professor !. all he does is blah blah blah... anyways. i think Andrew should stick with sales only and refrain from getting too technical. cause he can put himself in an embarrassing situation.. Cheers
I admit I’ve tried a couple things Randy recommended. They were useless. I forget what they even were, but he said they were awesome and I fell for it. And I should know better, been in pro audio for decades. He’s good. Or I’m stupid. Or both.
Class D and amplifiers do not deserve a throne unless it’s in the bathroom
They’ll turn McIntosh into a giant. Just look they’re already in the Jeep.
I would never make fun of Bose. I’ve had a set of 301s forever they are spectacular. I’ve heard the 901. There’s something right out of outer space.
Danny says they full of cheese 😜🤷🏻♂️
who cares who bought what.. i still don't like BOSE !.
On another note, you should probably have more subscribers because there is a spot for a person exactly like you. I can only assume that you are the very beginning of generation X. And the truth is that’s the best generation on earth and we don’t mince words so good for you, brother. I just don’t like what you said about Randy.
I actually find you a very interesting man. You remind me a lot of my father, who is an engineer. I do not disagree with Andrew with regards to sound is what you like. But I also don’t disagree with the other guy who tears things apart and makes them better. I’m not gonna lie. I do not have skill however I can build an engine up to 650 hp with my eyes closed so we all have different skills
After watching this video, you've made me appreciate my Oppo bdp-83 even more. Thanks for that.
This record cleaning controversy ( that's what it is) is ridiculous. A spin clean....... will work just fine. The rest of you are full of it...
Randy is a good guy , whose channel is entertaining , is he 100% correct all the time ?..of course not , but who cares by and large he makes interesting , informative vids very well presented Which I def can’t say about the your effort Live and let live !!
Holy slander much
I'm not sure about the MoFi Super Record Wash...I understand it now contains a digital step.
I'm one of those very few members of your audience that is an over 70 guy, and I loved the hell out of it. Great job, well done, and awesome information. I ordered a pair to wear when I'm practicing with my new Roland electronic drum kit, and it's good to know I got something that will work like you laid it out. Thanks for the very useful review.
As your video shows, Andrew Robinson did NOT say that "parts don't matter." If a piece of equipment was crammed full of lousy, low grade parts (resistors, capacitors, coils, etc.), it probably wouldn't sound very good to anybody -- or it would fail in short order. What he said is he didn't care about knowing the specs for a crossover assembly because while the RESULTS are audible, the technical details about the electronics aren't useful to him as a listener -- on his equipment in his room, from his chair. As for what he said about "boutique" audio salespeople who try to convince prospective buyers that they're missing out and a new gizmo is just the thing to "fix" or "improve" something that the customer didn't know was broken... well, isn't that what advertising and publicity are all about? Welcome to the free (-ish) marketplace we call capitalism!
Danny has delusions of grandeur, IMHO. Parts matter, but are unimportant to sound. Customers getting thier nose under the hood of any circuit is a great way for us sellers to keep you all confused, so we can hustle you.
Well said.
the whole "audiophile" community. So toxic.
This video is a waste of time.
I had them. They sounded good. Too much nonsense though. Switches on the front were so crooked it was disturbing.
My pair arrived today. The new single power supply has fixed any noise issue but man do they run hot. Mine cut out after 30 mins in a room (with slight airflow) temp of 75°. Ive put a usb fan on them and they are fine. 3 hrs running now and they are barely warm to the touch. They are outstanding little amps easily driving my dynaudio emit 20s. I really think they should be $10 more and come with a small usb fan. Or at least have it strongly recommend on the website or amazon page etc.
What a sad little man you are to try to get followers by tearing down someone else. Randy may not be an expert but he is more entertaining than you. Now let's go watch houseflies copulate.
Epic review...
The holographic soundstage created by my hifi extends far back beyond my living room wall onto my neighbours driveway. He would be amused to learn that when he returns from work in his SUV he often kills the drummer.
