I rarely go on dates, but I have asked question 2 "are you spoken for? And is there anybody who thinks you are spoken for even if you don't think so?" Edit: for #3, I'd tend to ask what their daily life looks like. Cause you can go to a group church service on Sundays and it doesn't really tell me anything about your character. I'm also asking what you usually do in your free time (outside of your job/workday).
I want to start dating again but I need to first fall in love with God to the fullest. Also in dating I need to find someone equally yoked as I am (same beliefs in following Jesus). I learned my lesson my last relationship since they were a non-believer. 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NIV) "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? "

Yes you both are students but you expect certain things being in college ( a mature believer) and that 5th grader ( less mature believer) Just won't have it. In all that God wants to impart in out lives the one teaching is never just one it's a multiplied layer experience to constantly get more from the lord because God is so neverending... amen so to your case I feel that remember yest the unequally yoked references what you have mentioned but also in other ways it speaks to the partnership of Kingdom relationships. So for instance your example 5th verses college... maybe you will be equally yoked in that scenario for if that 5th greater had a thirst for the face of God then it may not be outside the Will of God. Which I believe is also yolk not just the level but also pursuit. So in my opinion when we give respects to Gods ability to do all things we dont box one thing God is able to bless our live in, with, through or from. Stay blessed brother

Don't lead by saying, " Were you feeling tired and needed a saviour?" They are gonna say, "Uh? Oh yes, that's it! " You just sit back, listen and watch.
I think another important question for first dates is knowing what kind of relationship they have with their family. Also knowing why their previous relationships didn’t work out is something I have to know from the jump!
Yes we as women need to know if the man is married to his mama as some men are still boys and their mother run their life. I am talking from experience. Mama will never give up her first lady position especially if they are divorce, have no life or love interest. Am telling you.

It is a sneaky way to see how his relationships with his MOM (big indicator of how he treats women- or if she’s a Jezebel still calling him every morning to remind him to wipe his big ‘OL butt, controlling him, or if he’s talking mean about her, etc). Listen about his Dad, his cousins, his brothers or sisters.... Healthy or not? Also men who are proud of being the “black sheep” or they are tight with family- BIG red flag indicating question. Talk about family. Then I ask about what they do on their weekends or free time. 1. “Yo I just chill and watch NETFLIX ALL dang day.” 2. I go to the soup kitchen... work with the boys at church. Referee the games” Helps you determine their ambition levels, and how they “relax”
Some people do have controlling family members, so if they're not tight with their family it could be because they have healthy boundaries. It's almost impossible to be close with controlling family members the way people are with their healthy families.
I always ask what does love look like to them…you have no idea how much insight this can give you to a persons heart and mind…and if they say they don’t know, RUN!!!

I have already scanned social media of guys, but didn’t always look at the “following” part in detail. Wouldn’t you know he is following 70+ women?! Some of them are scantily clad... I never had much experience with dating. Even before during or after situationships and unhealthy [ungodly] relationships. I've been on like 3 dates in 4-5 years. To be honest, just thinking of dating makes me kinda nervous. I'd like to meet a great guy/future husband according to God's Will and marriage plan for us. Yet the whole process of getting to know dude, watching out for game, evaluating, keeping myself in check, reevaluating, analyzing, etc... seems so tedious and my inner guards go way up. I obviously ain't ready. Lord Jesus, have Your way!
For me I’ll be more focused on his walk with Christ. Firstly ask him if he has a relationship with God... before any relationship we should have a relationship with Christ first. If he says yes...ask him to describe it, if he says he prays when he wakes up and before he sleeps then you compare that with the relationship you’s have which is probably talking every hour or so. Also the question: Do you think your a good person?... if he answers with yes, ask how? And then test him with the Ten Commandments 😁 There’s none good but God. And lastly I’ll give him a situation where he’ll have to pick either God or me and if he picks God.... we shall be married within the next hr.
Yes to the background check. My friends think I go too far with it but dating divorced and in my 40s, I need to how many divorces he's had, how many child support cases, etc.
An "I don't know" answer might also mean the person has never really thought about it or analyzed their behavior too. Just give them time to think about it. Not everyone is blessed with the ability to articulate themselves like Jerry Flowers :P It would probably take me a day or two to come up with an answer to some of these questions. I would have to pray about it and ask God to find the words to describe what I was trying to say lol
Watching again in 2023. I still say ask many of these before a date and save yourself heartache. I was the one who sat on a date wondering WHY AM I HERE? When I got home I said that was a total waste of time. God said,"I never told you to go in the first place."

This is the best advice I've ever gotten about dating... I found myself with a guy like the opposite of what you are saying. It was a mess. He was a Youth leader, he was jobless, nothing doing but could not do anything for the kingdom. He just believe on going to church on Sundays. And holds hurts in his heart... The relationship knocked me down because it frustrated my vision in the kind of guy I wanted but he was just opposite of what I wanted. .. I'm still believing God for a marital breakthrough with someone who is more concern with kingdom business not their carnal mind...
I talk to a counselor to release frustration anxiety and anger! She's helping me find ways I can do that by myself. So it's good to notice of someone is actively looking for ways to improve their coping mechanisms if they weren't taught any as a child (like me!)

Asking how the person releases anger is an exceptional question. Too often we focus and seek the positive attributes of a person, and don't give heed to how the person responds to the negativity of life
I actually 'don't' like having my photo taken that much, and, I'm not really one that would want mine and his business to be all over social media. You can't really trust outsiders, and this is something I would have to discuss with my future husband when I meet him.

This is the best advice I've ever gotten about dating... I found myself with a guy like the opposite of what you are saying. It was a mess. He was a Youth leader, he was jobless, nothing doing but could not do anything for the kingdom. He just believe on going to church on Sundays. And holds hurts in his heart... The relationship knocked me down because it frustrated my vision in the kind of guy I wanted but he was just opposite of what I wanted. .. I'm still believing God for a marital breakthrough with someone who is more concern with kingdom business not their carnal mind...
I talk to a counselor to release frustration anxiety and anger! She's helping me find ways I can do that by myself. So it's good to notice of someone is actively looking for ways to improve their coping mechanisms if they weren't taught any as a child (like me!)

Most definitely, I’ve learnt to ask are you single, are you dating or entertaining anyone else, is there anyone that believes their in a relationship with you OR would be upset your moving on ? Listen, men have baggage too ! I wouldn’t ask all at once depending on the tone of the conversation but it’s great to know.
I haven't been to a date in years and have been single just as long. I went on a date yesterday and I couldn't even get a word 8n. He just talked and talked.

I actually 'don't' like having my photo taken that much, and, I'm not really one that would want mine and his business to be all over social media. You can't really trust outsiders, and this is something I would have to discuss with my future husband when I meet him.
