- After owning the Instant Vortex 6 quart 4 in 1 Air Fryer for 3 months and posting several videos I have received several questions concerning burning smell when starting this unit up...I think I may have the answer and a couple more answers concerning rubber...or silicon feet that go on the tray in the basket...also I'm throwing in a few other accessories that will work with this unit...thanks for stopping by....I love y'all all and Merry Christmas from Jelly007!!!

I just purchased this fryer 11/20/2020. I have read comments from other sites and yours regarding the plastic smell. After I unboxed mine, I gave it a good look for packing things on the fan etc. I did see the cardboard and removed it. The directions suggest running the machine at 205 degrees for 20 minutes which I did and smelled the plastic smell. I figured it was due to being new. What I did was to run it through 3 cycles but increase the temp and time up in increments. After doing this I cleaned the basket and tray with white vinegar and then one final cycle for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Each time I did the cycle the plastic smell decreased. After the last cycle the plastic smell is barely noticeable, I even had my wife stand about 6 feet from it while it was running to see if she could smell anything, (she has a good nose for odors), anyway she couldn't smell anything until she actually put her nose down close to the unit. So, I don't know if this matters or not but it seems to have worked for me. Thanks for your videos and I have subscribed to your channel.
Thank you very much Thomas for sharing your method... it may help many people and I really like this standalone air fryer due to its near perfect size and square basket design...I am going to pin this comment so others can see how you did it... thanks again!!!
To much work for something I'm paying for
That 205 temp you saw in the direction is Celsius. Instructions say 400F
@@erindud8106 Thanks for pointing out my error, hopefully others will read the instructions better. Merry Christmas
No problem... glad I could help and merry Christmas to you also!!!
I just got my Vortex Plus Air Fryer. The instructions say ' the first few times you use your air fryer you may notice a strong plastic smell. This is normal, non-toxic, and goes away quickly' You're suppose to run a few Test Runs to air it out. I just put it on my deck & ran 3 cycles and the smell was mostly gone. 1st night I made Grilled Cheese Sandwich, French Fries & Homemade Breaded Chicken Nuggets.👍 All were Very Good!!! 💞
Very good idea!!! Thanks for sharing that and thank you for watching!!!
OMG! I just bought this today. Thank goodness I saw your video. I did not realized there’s a cardboard in there and the silicone question was answered. Thank you so much!!
You are very welcome... I'm glad I helped... thank you for watching!!!
You are totally awesome!
I just got the new air fryer! I checked under the basket lo and behold there was the cardboard!
Thank you thank you thank you
Thank you so much. I did not see the cardboard hidden underneath. Removed immediately thanks to this video.
Glad I helped... thank you for watching!!!
Thanks John! Bought one today. Should have found all the guides before I did anything. Just found the cooking time table PDF. Should have tracked it down before I tested a frozen pizza. Oh well, live and learn!
Great video John. Always trying to respond / help your viewers use the equipment safely and deliciously. Also you are the king of gadgets.
Thanks Fred...I try to make everyone aware of the things I think are concerning and this is one of them...I hope it helps some people...thanks for watching!
I got the same air fry. Thanks for the new toys that I can use in my air fryer. Love my instant vortex air fryer.
Thank you!! Missed the cardboard but caught it just in time from watching your video.
I removed everything and experienced the plastic smell when I did the initial test the manual recommends. After I heated the machine for 20 min at 400 degrees, I let it cool down, and then thoroughly washed the tray. Use a damp cloth only for the pan that you put in and out. It helped a lot. If you follow the manual, it helps.
Very good info...thanks for sharing that!!
JC Personal whats the highest temper it can reach
alexia Miller 400 degrees
I am literally doing the initial test right now and it smells
Maria F yes, unfortunately. it took us 4 separate times to cook something until it went away. Whether you can handle it or not, the machine was such a game changer for me and my husband afterwards.
Thank you for this video. My parents bought me one for my birthday yesterday. I can’t wait to use it.
I really like the design... and it does a really good job... just make sure to remove all packing material etc before using... thanks for watching!!!
Excellent review. Thank you, it was a very thorough review, and extremely helpful .
I have had mine for over a year and still working good.
Mine too...thanks for watching!!!
I got this lovely machine 2 months ago for a mere £59 and I LOVE IT! I did get the smell initially but after washing it in soapy water, it was gone! I got another ‘fancy’ machine with buttons, lights etc., but it didn’t match up to my Instant Vortex 6 so I passed the other one to a friend.
Great video!! So well detailed and thoughtful.
Thank you!!!
GREAT VIDEO JOHN. BEST VOICE ON UA-cam. So soothing. Just bought one of these vortexes earlier today. Checking out some of your other vids now.
That is really good to hear!! Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching!!!
Thats funny when we got our instant pot it took a couple of cooks to realize there was a paper around the internal "doughnut" heating element that was supposed to be removed before use. If your going to be a cutting edge company that develops new kitchen gadgets that are new to people maybe some innovative labels that are marked remove before use would be a good idea.
Thank you, Sir! This video has blessed me!
That is good to hear!!! Thank you for watching it!!!
So glad I found this video. I have a newborn and was wondering what that smell was....the dang cardboard lol. Thank you!
You are welcome... glad I was able to help and thanks for watching!!!
I am so glad I watched this. I did not see the cardboard and man it was stinking up really good.
Very glad to hear I helped and thank you for watching!!!
Got mine in November. Washed it, ran it through the recommended heating cycle and have never experienced any odd smells.
My boyfriend bought this for me JUST because of your review. You’re awesome!
Thanks Jasmin... he sounds like a really good guy...lol... thanks for watching!!!
He’s awesome! He loves your personality! You really did sell him that fryer!
Thanks for the video! The smell is most likely a little machine oil and dust from its manufacturing. Many new cooking devises have that "new" smell at first, but if you clean the basket well, and do a dry run for about 20 minutes, the smell will burn off.
Lol no moron
Not true. I had taken out all the packaging. Did the burn off and then made something. It tasted awful. Did another burn off on 400 for 30 minutes twice. Still smells like burning plastic. I'm gonna try one more thing I seen in the comments and then I'm going to take it back.
Thank you! I wasn’t sure about the silicone the tray.
Informative video. Just got mine today, and missed the cardboard packing. Went back and removed it. Thanks for the tip.
Glad I helped... not sure why they do that??? Thanks for watching!!!
Great video, you showed so many really good tips.
Thank you... glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!!!
Thank you soooo much. I recently purchased this exact model and was able to remove this cardboard because of you.🤗
You are very welcome...i was curious if they are still putting it there...i guess so...thanks for watching!!
Nice, nice video, thank you Mr. Sanders!
Thank you... you are very welcome!!! And thank you for watching it!!!
AWESOME content❣️ Thank you, my friend!!!
Hi Jelly007,
I received this fryer for Christmas 2020 and really hadn't known too much about "air fryers" although a good friend of mine said his wife had one and used it all the time and loved how it cooked things. Had no plastic smell with mine and I've used it for french fries and chicken so far and have been pleasantly surprised how well and easy it cooks things to very good results in my opinion.... I'm subscribed and enjoy your videos, keep up the GREAT work for us all.
Very good to hear Peter and I think a lot of people know exactly what you mean... Air fryers are very handy!!! Thanks for subscribing and welcome aboard!!
I just got mine the other day and last night I used it to heat up Vietnamese eggrolls I said it for 400° for eight minutes it worked perfect the eggrolls were nice and crunchy and good and warm on the inside tonight I will try it on breaded codfish fillets,PS zerro smell.
You know, I believe your reviews so much, that I don’t buy anything unless YOU review it!! I really appreciate your thorough reviews.
That is really encouraging to hear Sue... thanks for trusting me and thanks for watching!!!
OMG!! I been had this Air Fryer for about 3 weeks and my children have been using it. My daughter and I were talking today and she told me my grandson doesn't like eating the food from it because of the smell, after watching your video, we found the cardboard culprit... THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Its more of a smell when you put a store bought pizza in the oven but forget to remove the cardboard underneath.
Very glad I helped...I would think they might discontinue that particular piece of packaging... or at least add a tab that hangs out or something... but glad you found it... and I've the cardboard on the pizza... been there... done that...lol...thanks for watching!!!
Never had an air fryer, This is my first one. Thank for the confidence course in the product purchased. 🙂 o2/17/2020
You are very welcome...and thank you for watching!!!
Omg just used mine just bought mine! Plastic smell and all JUST PULLED THE CARDBOARD OUT OMG THANK YOU!!!
Glad to hear I helped!!! Thanks for watching!!
Now going to your other video to see how to cook fries😂❤️
I'm sold. Americas Test Kitchen rated this as tops too!
Got one yesterday and I love it
It is a good machine!...thanks for watching!!!
Mine works and cooks GREAT!!!👍
That is good to hear mine did also...thanks and thank you for watching!
I bought the instant pot vortex 6 and I had watched your first video and I removed the cardboard from my unit and it still had a plastic smell, I cleaned my unit as well as I could and the smell was still there, so I continued to use it about 4 more times and the smell is finally going away, but I didn't check the top part of the unit like you suggest in this video but I will now, I really like your videos and I'm looking forward to seeing you cook something more than fries so I can learn from you. Thank you, Mellisa York
Thanks for sharing that Melissa and please keep us updated...if you find anything or if smells goes completely away...thanks in advance and I hope to get up a video soon using this device...thanks for watching!
I have the same smell, I used it reheat fried chicken 2 times, bake chicken quarter once and airfly fries. I do the test run in the manual again once, still smell it.
I contacted instant pot twice via email no answer. I am disappointed.
How many times should I test it before I should return it coz of the smell still there
I'm not sure but maybe someone reading can answer...but I'm not sure that I would not return it and see if the next one is better...how this helps and thanks for watching!!!
I ran the trail test 5x, the smell has diminished not as bad as the first run, but the smell is still there. I saw someone commented to put lemon and vinegar.
Thank you for your awesome videos. Just decided to look for an air fryer and when I saw Instant Pot had one I had to find reviews. I have 2 Instant Pot pressure cookers and so I was excited they carried an air fryer. Ordered last night and it just got delivered. Also ordered the cast iron plate. Really hoping you do a video on that Fat Daddy O and what you can make in it. Thanks again.
Glad I could help and it is a very good air fryer...I love the pans and the plate... thanks for watching!!!
Between insta-pot and shark-ninja, they are making cooking easy, fun and creative...thanks for your informative and entertaining videos.
You are absolutely correct!!! Thanks for watching!
Very helpful video. I was wondering which pans to get to fit inside the airfryer. Thank you!
Ok you sealed the deal. Im ordering it.
I really like its design and I think you will too!!! Thanks for watching!!
Hiii.. tfs. I would say that mine has a “new” smell. It doesn’t bother me or my food😊 I love this gadget!!
I love it too and that is the experience I have had also...thanks for sharing!!
I have had and have numerous air fryers. The best air fryer thus far is this instant pot vortex one. The deal was also so good I bought a few for gifts for others. I love the single basket also, makes cleaning much easier. It warms up faster and overall cooks quicker. The non-stick coating seems better than others I have owned that ended up peeling off in chunks.
I've have heard of baskets losing their coating and I am not a big fan of the two piece basket with the release button either...I really like this one...thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video and information.🎉 The newer version with the clear window comes with a filter to reduce or eradicate odors.
I bought one of these almost 2 years ago for an excellent price during a black Friday/cyber Monday sale. I haven't used it yet but I'm ready now. The instructions are so basic I have many questions so I've been watching videos.
Interestingly, the booklet that comes with it SAYS that there could be a plastic smell during the first couple uses.
I've read reviews where people said the smell was so bad they had to open windows, leave the room, it make them sick and it took days to dissipate. Then this guy says there is no smell. Of course, people DO tend to exaggerate!
Thank you for doing this video! I watched it before my air fryer arrived so that I would be fully prepared. Now, during the initial setup was the ONLY time I smelled that "plastic burning smell". I have to say, it was strong and I had to open the windows. However, I cooked fries and then some cauliflower in it, and there was absolutely no smell or bad taste. I think it was just burning off the manufacturer chemicals which is the reason for the "initial setup". So far, I'm loving it. I wish there are some recipes for this specific machine, but this is quite user friendly so Im sure I will be able to use any airfryer receipe. Thanks for the video again; I will be watching more.
Thank you for sharing your experience and thanks for watching... glad you enjoyed it!!!
This video was helpful. Just got mine. Made sure there was no cardboard or anything else inside. It makes sense to go ahead and cook something like a potato for a few minutes as a test. Then wipe it down inside. I would think that any packaging odors would be gone after that. Just an idea.
I did the anti smell procedures and the bowl I used with vinegar and lemon juice, and water had spattering of some kind gunk and still had some after a few times curing
Omg. Never watched a yt video before but this was so on point. Found the cardboard:/
Very glad to hear that... thanks for watching!!!
Thanks Doug for the tip about the arrows. Thought it had to be something I was doing wrong. Just got mine this week and already love it. Yes i too will be looking for accessories for it. Brought the same brand and the 6 qt Plus with dehydrator.
No instructions for the dehydrator but will keep looking. Thanks again for the wonderful video and info. Oh yes I saw the cardboard and removed it right away before I used. Had no plastic smell when 1st used.
Very good to hear and I'm glad to hear I helped... you must have watched a cooking with Doug video today too... but that is good...i love his videos too... thanks for watching!!!
Well that looks great.did not know vortex was made by them
Jelly 007, I love all your videos and your cooking. I own the Instant Vortex plus and was sick for three days after inhaling the toxic fumes coming from the device. Instant is wrong for the packing the accessories In these devices. The fumes didn't dissipate until my six use of the device. The pre heating was the worst. I still crack my back door while using it. And i now own an Omni plus. The accessories aren't packed in the Omni plus and i swear the fumes were coming from this device as well, just not as strong. I recommend doing a pre heat outside the house.maybe the porch or garage. My house smelled like burnt tires for two days. Hopefully, future Generation devices will be built with better materials, and we won't have this problem. With all that said I've forgiven Instant because the food comes out so good. My neighbor almost burned us out for Christmas using a cheap air fryer on the stove. He didn't knock on the door or ring a bell to warn anyone there was a fire.He was overheard telling the fire department he didn't have time to grab his cats (never mind the eleven year old boy who lives next door). Thank goodness everyone is ok. Happy Holidays everyone.
Wow...thanks for sharing that and I hope all came out well with your neighbor...I do trust everything instant pot sells and I think that means a lot...I hope your vortex plus clears up soon and thank you for sharing your experience...(Babydoll...my wife was a single by the way)...thanks again and thanks for watching!
I have an IP Omni Plus & never had any issue at all with it. I am now going to retire it & replace it with this Vortex model, simply because I am running out of counter space. Cleaning the Omni is a real pain, as that front door won't stay open as you attempt to clean the oven part of it. It is just my wife & I, so I really don't need the larger size of the Omni to do up our normal meals & we don't do large family gatherings any more, so hoping this one works as well as the Omni Plus has done. The noise to this model is louder than my Omni in all the videos I have seen, but probably not any worse for me, as I wear hearing aids, anyway. The one thing I hate the worse about an Omni Plus is the short electrical cord to it. Not sure if this is any better in that regard though, but at any rate, size matters & I want to bring out other appliances or food prep stuff on my counter & the Omni is simply too large.
Cheryl, did the smell ever go away on your Vortex plus?
@@KayGee4319 yes it did. By the fourth or 5th use the smell disappeared. I love it so much I was going to by another one. I would suggest letting it run out in fresh air for about an hour at a time. Maybe like 3 times. Then cook some bread in it that you have no intentions of eating. Nothing worse than that chemical taste in your food. But it is definitely a keeper, and they are on sale. I saw one for $79.00. I use it more than my Omni Plus. Happy Holidays
I hope the cats were ok too!
We did an initial burn off (that’s recommended in the user manual) and we accidentally left those cardboard pieces in. It put off a bad smell(chemical plastic smell) which we thought was normal bc of the recommendation of the burn off. When it was finished we saw them and pulled them out. No smell since, well only the smell of delicious food cooking 😂
Thanks for sharing and that is good know... I'll take the house smelling like food anyday...lol..
Yea because burnt cardboard smells like burning plastic.
I soaked the tray and basket in hot water for 10 minutes after I unboxed it. Gave it a good wipe and air fried some fries and onion rings, no plastic smell noticed
That is good to know and thank you for sharing that!!!
That's the way to do it! Good job!
Just got mine and I plugged it in. It has a nasty plastic smell. Prior to plugging in, I pulled out and made sure the cardboards were out too. I don’t know where the plastic stench is coming from...
After first use: The smell disappeared. Ofcourse I had to air out the house but aside from that the smell is gone, Yay! I’ve used it three times now and there has been NO plastic smell. I love this air fryer, it sooo good. Perfect for quick easy meals.
I have heard this before so I'm not sure what to say... mine did not have a smell but if you get an answer please post it here... thank you for sharing this...
Love that tempered glass. Yah.yippie
thank you for all info sir
Hey thanks alot! I bought one today & experienced the smell. I watched your video & had that same piece of cardboard in it. Glad i found your video. Alot of negative reviews on websites because of this so i feel bad. Glad i got one though.
Lol burnt cardboard doesn't smell like plastic genius.
Lol... you do have a point and I'll proudly take the genius reference!!! Thanks for watching!!!
@@ryanmarquez9404 Doesnt matter what it smells like "genius" this piece of cardboard is what you smell if u buy one of these & experience the smell bc u didn't move that piece. U must be bored.
Thank you If I wasn't for your video I would of never realized the cardboard was down under
Your welcome... glad I was able to help!!! Thank you for watching!!!
we noticed the plastic smell on the practice round is all. I think it is like new anything, it is maybe why they tell you to do a trial run. French fries were our first (tator tots actually) they were awesome. I found finding the patience on telling you when to turn was something to just wait for LOL, but something you didn't mention was the beep...it does beep about four times notifying you to turn your food. I had removed the the cardoard by the way.
I did not notice the smell when I did the fries. I also tried something off the wall and wrapped dates in bacon and put them in for 6 min and it actually worked fine...we normally traeger those LOL.
Thanks for sharing and the dates wrapped in bacon sound delicious!!! Thanks for watching!
You can turn the beep sounds off!
I have this exact fryer.....and guess what? Exact problem. I cycled it many times outside because it was stinking up the house. I was ready to take it back and then it dawned on me....you know those silicone feet? That is the problem. I removed them and after a few more cycles, no more plastic smell!! So that was the fix for me.
Well damn... I watched this video because there wasn't much instructions for this... Got a really bad plastic smell the initial test run and now just found the cardboard. Totally worth watching this video just for that alone. Hoping the smell is gone now.
Glad you enjoyed the video... thanks for watching!!!
Just got one for Xmas. Ran it 4 s outside. If u smell the basket u can tell that’s what is producing fumes. The plastic rim that’s part of the handle. Back to the store
the plastic smell or rubber smell is from the silicone that holds the little bottom tray I would recommend before cooking just heat it up for 20 min do that 4 times then you can start cooking.
Thank you for mentioning the silicon tabs/clips that come attached to the tray. I don't have this particular air fryer but I have one with same tray design so I have been looking for videos to confirm if the tabs/clips were part of the packaging or not.
If is somewhat confusing but glad I helped and thank you for watching!!!
I bought mines nov 5th and it came nov 8th. I had watched a video before I had purchased it. The video said it burn it about 10 times on 400 degrees without food in it so the plastic smell will go away. I used it today(11/25/2020) for mozzarella sticks and I burned the machine three times at 400 degrees. The smell wasn't notice at all on the mozzarella sticks. I'll see about other foods when I use it again. Great video
Thanks and thank you for sharing that!!!
Thanks, just got one. On page 8 of the manual, it states "the first few times it may smell like plastic it's normal and non-toxic and goes away quickly".
Thank u so much I didn't see the cardboard either. :)
I just got it for this black friday. And I removed the card shown, but still got a plastic burning smell in the initial test run that even set off the smoke alarm.. Still getting that after couple of times.. Afraid the smell gets into the food. Planning to return it.
Sorry to hear that... I'm not sure what seems to happen on this sometimes?? I do love the design though and mine has never smelled but I do hear that every once in awhile...thanks for watching!!!
Am I able to cook in the vortex 6 air fryer if I don't use the vented pan that comes inside it ?
Could someone inform me regarding the tray that sits on the bottom of the basket... How do you keep it from falling out while emptying food from the basket? Isn't that a major burn hazard? I currently have a basket-in-basket air fryer where you take out the inner basket to empty the food and I have had no problems with that style, however, I hate washing it.
Great video
I got one for my mother for xmas but have a question before i give it to her, after the preheat has run does it stop and beep to tell you to add food as she will place it in the utility room so will not be able to stand by it and watch the display
I watched your unboxing video and removed everything, also washed it really good. But still has plastic smell and taste. Only used it 3 times so far, hoping using it more will get rid of smell and taste like other have said in comments. Thanks for your videos
That is some good info and thank you for sharing it...glad you enjoy my videos and thanks for watching!!
Hey i smelled so. E thing when i was NEWBIE then i search up unboxing then i saw this it would be help full but when i pull the thingy i dont see the plastic like what oh no what am i gonna do i dont want to keep smell it always
Where did you buy that case itron plate. Cannot find them anywhere
Thank you just got one today and did not know the card board was there. Just removed it. Thanks
Good to hear and glad I helped...thanks for watching!!!
Wonder how you like the instant pot knife that you got at target? I ran to target after you mentioned it, my target didnt have it but amazon does so thought i would give it try , but want your opion
I have only used it one time so far...I have many knives and I guess they are a little more accessible but I do like the design and might be a very good device for preparing some things...thanks for watching!!
I just got one today for Christmas
It's a good machine!!
Yep its that handle for sure. Smell it after you use it.
Thanks John. I wondered about those tray tabs. Almost took them off and discarded. Hope both companies are compensating you for the endorsements.
The tabs are a little confusing... glad I helped and although companies have reached out to me I have declined any type of compensation or sponsorship at this time... thanks for asking though...and thanks for watching!!!
Those tabs are sorta a pain to put back on after many uses. In fact, a child lost one of ours down the disposal and I can't find any replacement parts on IP site:(.
They are a little easy to lose...I think it quotidian work OK without but I do see what you're saying...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders saw reviews about the plastic smell before i got mine so was waiting for it lol i took those little tabs off before i even used it because i was worried, i ran it at 400 for 10 min, did it 3 times and never had the plastic smell at all, mine works great so far without the tabs
Really good to hear... but I think the tabs you are referring to are supposed to stay on...thanks for watching!!
how accurate is temp control?
Thank you John!
Your welcome and thank you for watching!!
Anyone know if the top plastic cover is removable to clean under it?
Thanks for posting this because mine didn’t come with a book or anything
Can you help as mine won't turn on and I cannot get top lid off to open and check it
John Sanders I am looking for these accessories you have shown. Where can i find the iron pan and the pans you have shown?
Hey John, I've got a couple of questions and wasn't sure how to contact you so I'll do it here and perhaps they will help others as well. 1) I've got the Vortex air fryer 6 and just noticed some of the coating is coming off the cooking tray. Do you know where I might get a replacement? Or is there something I can get that can be placed on the existing tray? 2) I've gotten hooked on cooking with the air fryer and I'm debating on getting another one. I'm undecided as to get another vortex 6 or go with another brand. Do you have a favorite air fryer and what's the brand? thanks, enjoying your channel. thanks
I do and at this time I really like the Ninja xl oven...I have done several videos recently and I think it is the best device for the money on the market right now... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
What a nice man ❤️
Hello. Temperature jumps in increments of 2 sometimes 3 and not in increments of 1. I can’t set temperature to 200c eg it jumps from 199c to 202c. Can you please help/advise. Thank you.
Nice video I haven’t used mine yet I hope there isn’t a plastic smell
I did not smell plastic with mine and a lot of other people didn't either...I love the machine but do make do make sure to remove all packaging...I think you will be good and you will love this device...thanks for watching!!!
Mines did the first few time I used it
I love my air fryer. I removed all packaging but still have that smell. It is horrible. Im going to try some other methods to try and get rid the smell.
Please let me know if you find a method that works well... Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you! I just found it and the smell went away!
That is really good to hear... glad to know I helped and thanks for sharing... and watching!!!
Shared, Shared & Shared.. Thanks John
Thank you Angie...hoping this helps some people...thanks again and thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders I shared on Angie's Pantry if you want to go check it out on FB My link for it is below my video would love to be FB friends with ya. :")
Nope, i disagree about the smell. Cardboard wouldn’t smell like plastic. I had to open the windows in my house. I Googled about the smell and found it’s a known issue on some units. After sniffing closely, I found that the part of the handle, in the area where your thumb goes, was where the exact stink was radiating from. After a few uses, like others claimed, the smell dissipated. Really strange. Secondly, all 3 presets; air fry, roast and bake change nothing in how the unit cooks. It’s basically a toaster oven. That said, I do love how food comes out crispy without adding oil.
Thanks for sharing your experience...I do love the way this unit performs as a stand alone air fryer... thanks for watching!!!
Is cooking tray teflon coated or ceramic coated ? please help @John Sanders
Does anyone use parchment paper liners with this unit? Have researched online and seems they are good for minimizing mess for cleanup.
I found some rectangular liners that fit this unit perfectly just haven't used them yet.
I don't but I know some do...I personally think they hinder air flow but not sure it would matter in some recipes...thanks for watching!
I just purchased the Insta pot vortex 6 quarts. Has anyone noticed if it makes your surroundings hot? I have a small kitchen and it feels like I have my oven on, is that normal?
My Vortex 6 qt air fryer had a strong plastic smell for more than 6 months before the smell went away or we got so use to it we didn't smell it anymore. After 1 yr and 3 months, the cooking tray started peeling and bubbling. Anyone has experience with this? What to do ?
