Well I see what your saying unlike the other commentators, but I believe the main character walks around on all fours while in first person mode. At least that’s the perception I kinda get by looking at the screen. Yeah basically what the guy above me commented.
I'm getting Agony vibes. Combat looks quite bizarre, like a mobile game and lacking any amount of flow whatsoever. The pacing of certain dialogues and camera shots is awkward, sound is also very rough around the edges. Footsteps that should be muddy and slappy are sandy and solid. Footsteps that should be solid but with a tail end drip (watery rocks) are just sandy still. Leaves are often silent, twigs are absent, it's all just stock gravel, dirt, and sand. And all of that can be fixed, they might be placeholder sounds for the time. The combat might be left imperfect until the final game is done, perhaps to give room to other mechanics they're considering. But I never like when a game is so clearly unrefined. Room to grow is never a bad thing, but there are far too many games that have abused this.

Adult gameplay will need some fixing.
I feel like the trailer revealed a bit too much.
But wasnt the parents even bigger I think that was just a teenage phase
You start as a child, and as far as we see, it progressed to adolescence. Hopefully soon they’ll show some adult gameplay.
They have time to fix it , looks great tho , i'm hyped. Always wanted a decent monster game
Noah Blackburn I hope they save the adult stage for the game and dont reveal it in a trailer. This is the first game ive been excited for in years
Replace whoever is directing the combat/animation, because that looks awful, a unfortunate intersection of bland and clunky.
Go to the first comabt scene...youll change your mind.
Also if you channel the hit it become a knockback punch... thats beautiful... reminds me of AGONY.
I liked it.
@@xpeson9 It literally looks like they're just mashing a button and stun locking whatever blind NPC is in front of them. The AI in this game looks incredibly bad. It looks like they're just ragdolls thrown at you with no challenge whatsoever.
@@xpeson9 AGONY was shite.
Hellblade + the darkness
Nailed it, I think it’s gone overboard tho being a demon straight up dismembering and eating humans. I’m sure the next psychotic Jack the Ripper will love this game.

Cool setting but the combat looks boring, generic and clunky. Have a feeling it will turn out like *Agony...*
Exactly like I was thinking. Hope I'm wrong, but it reminds me way too much of that...other game.
Totally agree. The primary attack looks pretty one dimensional. Just a repeated claw attack to the torso....
True
The creature fights with its bare claws. What did you expect? Go make a game and see how that turns out.
@@onibruis3r920 youre making a pointless argument. Just because a person is not a game dev doesnt mean they dont get an opinion on games.
Looks like it draws a lot of inspiration from the Beowulf saga with Grendel/his mother

Been following this for years since it was still known as Project Wight. Looks incredibly intriguing. Getting some Agony vibes though lol
Agony and project wights trailers came out around the same time im kinda glad darkborn is coming out later they had more time to refine and look great (still hope they fix some combat stuff but its definitely the right direction from project wights combat systems)

Hey Geralt, me and the rest of the village folk have gathered up some crowns, we have a contract for you
I saw footage of this game two years ago and now it casually appears in my recommended like nothing ever happened??
Love the way it looks, I just feel given how huge the hands are, that you should be a little taller in the first person perspective.
You were smaller than the adults as shown in the cutscene, but your character is still growing.
i think its because you move on all fours a lot of the time. could be wrong but thats what it looks like
Well I see what your saying unlike the other commentators, but I believe the main character walks around on all fours while in first person mode. At least that’s the perception I kinda get by looking at the screen. Yeah basically what the guy above me commented.
This is Project Wight. I was hoping to see more of this. The adult attacks do seem clunky. I hope they polish that.
i'm pretty sure this is the same alpha footage from like 2yrs ago. either way I'm still hyped about it
This is the final version
Harold Smiley the alpha version tease was kinda better animated
Enemies randomly kicking nothing lol
@@roadman420 I saw that either
Exactly what i think.
I think it would work much better in 3rd person
AND claws going into the mud like a squash, i mean like a spear pierceing through the mud.... (?) Uhh, sounds nice.
Its like they wanted to make a movie but weren't confident enough.
That was precisely what I thought, the cranky movements, the "graphics" gives me the feeling that at some point the hole idea will be just like agony.
I've waited forever for new news on this game. Finally, I was scared it would never happen. So pumped cant wait. :)
Damn u so pumped for this 🤦♂️
@@gamert5752 You wouldnt understand how pumped hahaha. They said it would come out on PS4. If it doesnt that would be a kick to the nuts.

So this is project wight?
@@zen3490 I'm wondering the same thing. The trailers are both the same
Liked to have seen this in 3rd person. If I'm gonna play as a creature would love to see it while I'm playing
Not everything has to be third-person, geez.
I disagree. I think this is more about who the real monsters are, and blurring that line.
@@lanesplitter8723 not everything has to be first person, see what i did there
In my opinion, it's better if we don't see this creature.
Lol this dude just wants to play a game, he doesnt want to experience the story they worked hard to make.
Well done developers, don't listen to this guy
First part looks awesome, got me really intrested.
Then the second part in adulte was a cold shower. Stiff animations, not intresting combat, gore for the gore...
I kind like the feel those warriors were not actually prepared for his agility and dexterity... also himself... Like trying to spin or catch him not knowing if theyll hit or simply searching to taunt prepotently.
A bit more polishing probably and it looks like a pretty neat game. Keep it up.
Still, I'd like to see players being able to customize the look of the darkborn somehow. That'd be nice.
I would love some form of customization
It would be cool if you could decide how the creature evolves and progresses.
No it wouldn't
A very cool tech demo. I like the premise. I'd definitely like to see more variety. I've always been a monster / horror movie fan with werewolves and vampires being among my favs , so this is my style. I hope they can do something special with it.
This went from dark knight to goddamn Frankenstein's monster
Anti-human human groups would love this
So the "left"?
@@MikeVieira left, right as long as they hate humans they're part of that group
Ralph So ok. I agree!
I mean....white men showing up and killing everyone isn't exactly unheard of.
I don’t think we as humans can comprehend the hate demons have towards us no human can hate like a demon
It looks entertaining and beautiful land scape. The fighting was a bit boring with basic hack n slash tactics. If improved I would definitely try it.
Dude the parts where you play as the creature while small look like a better Gollum game that the actual Gollum game.
Project Wight! Its been a while. Didn't know we would see what they look like. Oddly adorable. ^_^
It's the same game, right?
This just makes me want a Van Helsing game, like The Order 1886 but with reversed roles.
Vampyr?
@@dreadfuldeath it isnt your own character and that causes it to lack a lot of meaning for some people. This is different. You're referred to as little one instead of being a person with an entire history and backstory.

Very strange and interesting narrative and characters. I am quite intrigued to play this but the combat looks a little unresponsive and archaic; just a small touch up and the game should be great!

They really need to raise the camera when the creature evolves, even if crawling on all fours it should be on level with the humans heads.
that would mean when standing its waist was at head height for a human, which it isn't...
Anyone know of any upcoming "you play as the monster" games seeing as this was cancelled?
That voice throughout the trailer that comes from the tree at the end, is it maybe Yggdrasil guiding you along? The world tree looked almost dead with no leaves or anything on it, maybe that’s what humans did to her, so is she merely using you to get revenge herself? 2 birds 1 stone kinda thing?
Makes sense, would definitely be cool to see if that's the case. For me i think the voice made this trailer.

Awesome concept. I think 3rd person would suit this games ideals for gameplay a lot better.

Think I saw this a while ago on: "Top 10 Games That Let's You Be the Monster." Great concept, really. Lackluster gameplay.
Give it time, it's still working things out this is why most game trailer settle with CG and scripted events to hide problems that they plan to fix.
@Chris Williams Are you one of the butthurt developers or something? lol
@Chris Williams why are you commenting on everyone criticizing the obvious problem with the game? The combat is bland and is more basic than most things ive seen. Whats the point in ignoring something this big? Sure it could get better but rn its all too one dimensional.
I love the story
