Hey, what is the benefit of using the tape to seal versus silicone?

Threefold, tape is much cleaner and easier to install, the tape is included in the kit so you don't need to buy anything, and silicone should not be heated excessively as it can off gas if the temperature gets high enough. Automotive temperatures may not be high enough to be of concern, but it's something to be aware of.
