The first guitar you here is played with a slide by the legendary Duane Allman ( r I p ), the second guitar is from Dickey Betts, also a legend who just recently passed 🎸🎸
I attended this show. Was in NYC for a friend's wedding. I was an usher & his dad got everyone in the wedding party tickets ,9 of us in the 5'th row at the Fillmore East. Best bachelor party ever!
My favorite guitar licks in any song is from a song by The Allman Brothers written by Dickie Betts to his girlfriend at the time. It's called "Blue Sky". I never tire of this song.
Kicked off one of the best live albums ever released and produced an army of southern style wannabe bands. Sold a million Les Paul guitars and Marshall plexis. One of the greatest American bands ever.
Hi Angela 😊 Awesome reaction to the Allman Brothers' Statesboro Blues 😊👍 Perfect for the kitchen 😊 We've had so many fronts coming down from the north this year bringing pollen and dust and mold into the area. We always want you well 😊 Have a great day and bye for now 😊👍
You can't go wrong with the original Allman Brothers, those guys were on another level. Anything off this double live album is a great choice, do Stormy Monday for more blues greatness from them. Duane Allman and Dicky Betts, rocking guitars. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
That's what I'm talking about! Definitely one of the greatest bands to come out of our era. As you can tell from this (Live at the Fillmore East), they were an absolute treat to see live!
Thanks for playing this classic Allman Brothers version of Blind Willie McTell's 1928 song Statesboro Blues. As an aside, check out the Bob Dylan song called Blind Willie McTell. Glad you are feeling better. Take care. ☮🕊
As some I'm sure others have mentioned, Duane Allman was kilked in a motorcycle wreck in the early 70s Dickey Betts passed away just a few weeks ago. They are both legendary! Can't forget Berry Oakley who also died in a motorcycle wreck like a year to the day after Duane and near the same location in Macon Georgia. He was their bassist. Thanks Angela for doing such a great one!!!
From their seminal Fillmore East live set. You may be saddened to know slide legend Duane died in a motorcycle accident within the year in Macon, and a bandmate suffered the same fate just blocks away not long after, That's his brother Gregg on lead vocal and kb, Thanks for sharing Ange and welcome back. I didn't know you'd been unwell, so it wasn't me who sent you the ''vibes'.But I'm so gled you're on the up. We've all missed your warmth and positivity. Rock on, girl.
The "inspiration" for this song is the same song performed by Taj Mahal, Duane heard the great Jesse Ed Davis play on this with Taj on vocals, Duane fell in love and was inspired by Jesse Ed to play slide guitar
One of the all time great groups. A heady mix of blues, rock, country and even jazz! Duane Allman was the best slide guitarist of all time in my opinion. Tragically his life ended way too soon. Betts on lead guitar, Great Allman on vocals and keyboards. Arguably the best live band ever.
They were likely the best live Act, there Music, its style lent itself to being played live , the Studio Recordings were really was like the Live performances and was most enjoyable in a Place like the former Boston Tea Party , Orpheum Theater or either Filmore's where only a couple thousand people could attend, up close & Personal.
The greatest 6 musicians to ever grace a stage! I suggest a reaction to the song, In memory of Elizabeth Reed, off the Filmore East live album. Considered to be the greatest live album EVER recorded!!
If you like blues, check out 'The Bluest Blues' by the great Alvin Lee (also has a nice slide guitar solo in it by George Harrison!). Also check out 'Lazy' by Deep Purple.
Blind Willie McTell was the first blues cat to record this song in the 1920s. However, this is more of a cover of the cover by Taj Mahal from his 1968 debut album
In my opinion, the greatest band ever !!! I’ve seen them 15 times over the decades in many different incarnations, but the first was the best. You need to do every single song on this album and 2/3 of eat a peach is live from the Fillmore. Also, you can’t go wrong Duane Allman on slide Dickey Betts on lead guitar ….left side is Duane right side of your headphones is Dickey how many bands can say they drew 600,000 people for a one days concert at Watkins, Glen New York sadly all of them, but Jaimo is gone, but we have their music that lives on Bill Graham, who owned the Fillmore East, and West called him the greatest band he ever saw, and Bill saw all the great ones
My allergies have been acting up worse this year than in the last 20+ years. I had a sinus infection back in March and had to get a run of antibiotics in order to get rid of it. The allergies are starting to kick up again.
Duane was sick, brother Gregg coricidin. At some point Duane took the bottle and learnef slide. But he did something different than what was happening in those days with slide. He added jet engines and took off to the heavens. 😂
Now you must react to the next track on this album, Done Somebody Wrong. It's at least as good as this, and always gets passed by. And the next one after that, Stormy Monday...
Thanks Angela! My dear departed best friend Jeff Smith who was killed in a car crash when he was 17 wore this album out. Brings back bittersweet memories but mostly good! Hope you feel 100% soon. God Bless
My sinus allergies were worse this year. Definitely. Check out Taj Mahal’s version of Statesboro Blues. I believe it was his version that inspired The Allman Brothers to do the song. Edit: Here’s a link to it. ua-cam.com/video/Va7elbEorxA/v-deo.htmlsi=qxayvYyT0kx9270m
At the end of Duane's solo, he hits a bad note. You can hear it as Gregg starts singing the next verse. It happens at 4:50 in this video. So listen to the end of the solo again and listen for Duane to hit a really awful note. When they were putting the album together, they wanted to try to edit the note out but back in 1970, there was no way to do it. They really loved this version of the song so they decided to just leave it in,
@@will-x9c How many times have you listened to ONE WAY OUT on the EAT A PEACH album? Did you notice that at the end of the guitar duel between Duane and Dickey, just before the rest of the band comes back in, Berry accidentally comes in one beat too soon?
Yes bad here also for allergies, has affected my hearing so not good! Still I can hear this good bluesy track alright and the mean guitar. Style of this reminds me of the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Greene-Colin Ward
I started getting sick a lot after mine. First shingles, recovered, 3 weeks later a regular cold knocked me down for 3 weeks. 2 weeks after recovering got a sinus infection. I started taking 5000 IU vitamin D plus a multivitamin daily. Haven't been sick in over a year. D helps regulate your immune system, could be inflammation in lungs from overactive immune/ histamine response. Hopefully nothing more serious.
The first guitar you here is played with a slide by the legendary Duane Allman ( r I p ), the second guitar is from Dickey Betts, also a legend who just recently passed 🎸🎸
Absolutely one of the greatest live albums...captures a sound from a time and place that's gone but never forgotten 😎🎸
I attended this show. Was in NYC for a friend's wedding. I was an usher & his dad got everyone in the wedding party tickets ,9 of us in the 5'th row at the Fillmore East. Best bachelor party ever!
Wow! How awesome was that🎉🎉
Greatest live album ever imo.
Allman Brothers are known for their blues southern rock
One of the best singers of all time, Gregg Allman. He was married to Cher for a few years.
The band is one of the tightest bands you'll ever hear.
Greatest hits album, and you'll never stop dancing!
Two of the greatest guitar players ever... I had the great good fortune to see them... Duane Allman was, hands down, the best guitar player ever...
Come on now. Jimmy page has been insulted.
@@stephendimino332 Jimmy Page insults himself -- the worst thing about him is his frequent theft of music...
THE AWESOME QUALITY OF PERFECTION FROM THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND LEAVES YOU SPEECHLESS, SAW THEM TIMES!! 😁😍🔥🎸🎸🥁🥁🎹🐐😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
They were my favorite band growing up in the early 1970s as a teenager.
Greatest live album ever.
One of the absolute best live bands from this era. They could play any style of music.
My favorite guitar licks in any song is from a song by The Allman Brothers written by Dickie Betts to his girlfriend at the time. It's called "Blue Sky". I never tire of this song.
Goin to the country, baby do you want to go
If you can't make it baby, your sister Lucille said she wants to go...and I sure would take her!
Kicked off one of the best live albums ever released and produced an army of southern style wannabe bands. Sold a million Les Paul guitars and Marshall plexis. One of the greatest American bands ever.
Duane Allman with the first slide solo, Dickey Betts with the second lead solo. Two of the best guitarists ever, in one band.
Hi Angela 😊 Awesome reaction to the Allman Brothers' Statesboro Blues 😊👍 Perfect for the kitchen 😊 We've had so many fronts coming down from the north this year bringing pollen and dust and mold into the area. We always want you well 😊 Have a great day and bye for now 😊👍
Sometimes with a good blues tune... it's just a reason for a good jam session :)
One of the greatest Bands to come out of America
Another great song written and performed by Blind Willie McTell and his twelve string guitar.
this album is burnt into my head i have listened to it so many times, this and Dark Side of the Moon, and never get tired of either one.
Duane and Dickey on guitars. It's 1 thing for a band to have a guitarist ranked best of all time, but both are in the top best of all time
Good ear, sister, catching that there were two different guitar solos. More Allman Brothers bands would be fun for us all.
Peace -

70's " Classic Southern Rock" at it's best.
I bought the album in 1974 and still have it. Thought by many to the best live album every recorded.
That's what I'm talking about! Definitely one of the greatest bands to come out of our era. As you can tell from this (Live at the Fillmore East), they were an absolute treat to see live!
this was recorded in 71'
Written and recorded by Blind Willie McTell in 1928 and covered by many, but none better than the Allmans.

That's Duane Allman on guitar. He died in a motorcycle crash at age 24
Best live album ever,never ages.❤
Great song, great group. Thank you.
One Way Out!!
I'm glad you like it and glad you are feeling better!
My Father took me to go see them in Boston Commons 1969 I was 8yrs old at that time, I remember liking them a lot ...

That slide guitar was by the greatest slide player who ever lived-Duane Allman- we lost hiomhim at 24 years old in a motorcycle accident

They have 2 guitarists and 2 drummers
Dwayne Allman recorded Layla with Eric Clapton
Very first concert I ever went to was them at Madison Square Garden '72.
One of the all time great groups. A heady mix of blues, rock, country and even jazz! Duane
Allman was the best slide guitarist of all time in my opinion. Tragically his life ended way
too soon. Betts on lead guitar, Great Allman on vocals and keyboards. Arguably the best

Duane Allman plays slide on Layla by Eric Clapton!
One Way Out
Great choice! Great to see you back!!! Duane Allman on slide guitar, and Dickey Betts finishes on straight guitar.
Need to listen to Stormy Monday live at the Fillmore Stormy Monday is great

Allergies for everyone are getting worse every year, but yes, this year is the worse I've ever endured and I'm 63.

Never heard this song but I love it. Love it almost as much as I love you getting into the beat. Thank you!❤
Taj Mahal does a really nice version of Stateboro Blues. It is a bit more stripped down and smoother imo.
My allergies have been acting up worse this year than in the last 20+ years. I had a sinus infection back in March and had to get a run of antibiotics in order to get rid of it. The allergies are starting to kick up again.
Try Allegra ...............feel better and keep on reacting! By the way was at this concert at the Fillmore East in NYC.
Not really my style in music but I always make an exception for The Allman Bros.

Angela, I know how you feel... I got through 2 colonoscopies only to end up with a chest cold... I hate being sick...
Duane Allman on slide guitar and Dickey Betts on guitar. Sadly we lost Dickey a few weeks ago RIP Dickey.
