I truly do hope that Mo Farah's legacy will show people from Somalia, that with a strong work ethic they can become anything they want to be. Mo Farah has shown that the Somali people clearly have the genetic disposition to become amazing distance runners.
Who knows how many Mo Farah's in Somalia are going un-discovered due to the fact that they don't really have a proper support system. Mo was fortunate that his family moved to the UK and one of his P.E teachers in school picked up on the fact that he clearly had a gift.
It'd be great if in the future we see an official National Somali running team representing Somalia. Not too take anything away from Mo's accomplishments for the UK , but genetically he's East African so it'd be awesome if some type of system was setup to discover more talent from Somalia.
For whatever reason the Somali people have a bed rep, and Mo Farah is doing amazing things in the UK to portray them in a good light. Integration at its finest.

+Johnny Mars I completely agree. Here in Maine, since some Somali immigrants came, Lewiston High School has been dominating in soccer, basketball and sprint running (locals are still winning the distance races). They are definitely, a very athletic people.

      NO CHILLS year bro
I saw yesterday on the news their is massive oil in somalia that has been found in 2012 and the somalia government said they will produce those oil in 2020 and I saw yesterday America is going to Somalia to help....
But it's a lie, don't let usa to enter somalia
They are there to take the oil....
They went in Iraq 15 years ago to kill Osama bin laden and when he died they are still in Iraq for 16 years only to take the oil
      WARNING DON'T LET USA

I'm a muslim and let me say this Mo Farah won because of hard work and dedication. No matter what his faith is he is simply a brilliant athlete. And by whatever name we may call God, him winning the two golds was a brilliant moment for all of Britain and for all who love sport whether we believe in God or not.

At 5:21 Farah does Sajdah Ash-Shukr, which means 'prostration of thanks' in Arabic. He bowed to God in thanks for his victory. That looks pritteh religious to me. Also, a person can be both British and a practicing Muslim, as I am.

So let us take a moment to CELEBRATE this man and all of his accomplishments. Celebrate coming together and appreciating the achievement.

Brother/sister. I was never a strict muslim at one point, but that doesn't mean i wasn't a muslim. As long as you believe in Allah, the books, the messenger, and the final day..you're a muslim regardless of whether or not u pray..that just means ur not a practising muslim. I always then considred myself a muslim. Always!

Yes, but what i really was pointing at is that there are so many of us who are born in a muslim family but are not muslim and yet we call ourself muslim. I doubt (and that i mean i dont know) that he prays five times a week, or even reads the koran once a week. He definately isnt strict, since he has a british cristian wife and is wearing a neclace. He might still be a muslim but i think he just says it because he should.

I dont really care much what he is, i just wanted to point out something most just didnt want to realize. As they already decided for themself that he was true muslim and somali...

Carrying around many kgs of muscle/fat is very tiring... so all world-class middle and long-distance runners are very slim. Endurance is the fundamental attribute required, coupled with sufficient strength to put in a hard kick towards the end to sprint away from the other competitors. A heavily-muscled guy would struggle to finish the race!

He's said in like many interviews he's muslim.. i don't see why that should pose as a problem for you or why you seem to be on defensive telling yourself that he isn't muslim. His name is Mohammed, named after the final prophet (pbuh).

  • @Skorpi00007
    @Skorpi00007 12 років тому

I never said he was not muslim, all i said was that people shouldnt jump into conclusion and say he is one. Oh well, how many somali kids out there are called Mohamed? Is that prove enough to be muslim? I dont care if he is or not. It's his free choice. But a name alone does not make one a muslim.
