I truly do hope that Mo Farah's legacy will show people from Somalia, that with a strong work ethic they can become anything they want to be. Mo Farah has shown that the Somali people clearly have the genetic disposition to become amazing distance runners. Who knows how many Mo Farah's in Somalia are going un-discovered due to the fact that they don't really have a proper support system. Mo was fortunate that his family moved to the UK and one of his P.E teachers in school picked up on the fact that he clearly had a gift. It'd be great if in the future we see an official National Somali running team representing Somalia. Not too take anything away from Mo's accomplishments for the UK , but genetically he's East African so it'd be awesome if some type of system was setup to discover more talent from Somalia. For whatever reason the Somali people have a bed rep, and Mo Farah is doing amazing things in the UK to portray them in a good light. Integration at its finest.
+Johnny Mars I completely agree. Here in Maine, since some Somali immigrants came, Lewiston High School has been dominating in soccer, basketball and sprint running (locals are still winning the distance races). They are definitely, a very athletic people.
NO CHILLS year bro I saw yesterday on the news their is massive oil in somalia that has been found in 2012 and the somalia government said they will produce those oil in 2020 and I saw yesterday America is going to Somalia to help.... But it's a lie, don't let usa to enter somalia They are there to take the oil.... They went in Iraq 15 years ago to kill Osama bin laden and when he died they are still in Iraq for 16 years only to take the oil WARNING DON'T LET USA
Double Europian champ; double Olympic champ; double world champ. Mo Farah, the greates athlete ever, is a gift from God for the Somali people - we should be greatfull for a thousand years to come. Thank you Mo, and God may protect your soul for ever.
Somalis have been given strength by all the hardship and poverty they have to endure in everyday of their lives. I wish them all the best. Well done that man!
I'm a muslim and let me say this Mo Farah won because of hard work and dedication. No matter what his faith is he is simply a brilliant athlete. And by whatever name we may call God, him winning the two golds was a brilliant moment for all of Britain and for all who love sport whether we believe in God or not.
At 5:21 Farah does Sajdah Ash-Shukr, which means 'prostration of thanks' in Arabic. He bowed to God in thanks for his victory. That looks pritteh religious to me. Also, a person can be both British and a practicing Muslim, as I am.
please try and leave discussions about religion out of this. Mo Farah's ability as an athlete is proof of many things from hard work and training to the strength, will, and love of the human spirit. So let us take a moment to CELEBRATE this man and all of his accomplishments. Celebrate coming together and appreciating the achievement.
moh is a somalilander but still somaliland is not recognize country so in that case every body is keep saying a somali man but the day somaliland get the recognition ,no body gonna say he was somali but they would say hes somalilander anyway one love our somaliland hero
Brother/sister. I was never a strict muslim at one point, but that doesn't mean i wasn't a muslim. As long as you believe in Allah, the books, the messenger, and the final day..you're a muslim regardless of whether or not u pray..that just means ur not a practising muslim. I always then considred myself a muslim. Always!
A fair point. just felt that the comments about religion had become about right versus wrong rather than a positive message about Farah's achievement, or multiculturalism (incl. religion) in the UK.
All these people that are saying that he is from somalie is wrong. because he is a somalilander !!!!!!!! not a somalier. and if people thinking how i know that is very easy, because he is born in the same village as my mum.
Yes, but what i really was pointing at is that there are so many of us who are born in a muslim family but are not muslim and yet we call ourself muslim. I doubt (and that i mean i dont know) that he prays five times a week, or even reads the koran once a week. He definately isnt strict, since he has a british cristian wife and is wearing a neclace. He might still be a muslim but i think he just says it because he should.
yes he might be, i never put that out of qouestion just havent seen any signs since u pointed one out. Wich btw doesnt prove much, but who are we to jugde who is and who isnt muslim. I dont really care much what he is, i just wanted to point out something most just didnt want to realize. As they already decided for themself that he was true muslim and somali...
Carrying around many kgs of muscle/fat is very tiring... so all world-class middle and long-distance runners are very slim. Endurance is the fundamental attribute required, coupled with sufficient strength to put in a hard kick towards the end to sprint away from the other competitors. A heavily-muscled guy would struggle to finish the race!
He's said in like many interviews he's muslim.. i don't see why that should pose as a problem for you or why you seem to be on defensive telling yourself that he isn't muslim. His name is Mohammed, named after the final prophet (pbuh).
I never said he was not muslim, all i said was that people shouldnt jump into conclusion and say he is one. Oh well, how many somali kids out there are called Mohamed? Is that prove enough to be muslim? I dont care if he is or not. It's his free choice. But a name alone does not make one a muslim.
it absolutely astounds me how some people can call themselves british. there was one woman called tiffany something who represents britain cos she didn't make the u.s. team. i guess that this guy is british cos he didn't make the somalian athletics team. who am i kidding. that backwards society doesn't have any funding for sports whatsoever, so somehow we're stuck with him
By the way Somalia are Big country and UK are Small country, Look Area Size. Somalia are Rich country but they don't have peace, the reason Mo farah come to UK is Just for peace
Mo's been in England since he was a child. Any one can choose which ever country they want to represent before the age of 18, and guess who drew up the Geneva convention! He chose Great Britain.
I truly do hope that Mo Farah's legacy will show people from Somalia, that with a strong work ethic they can become anything they want to be. Mo Farah has shown that the Somali people clearly have the genetic disposition to become amazing distance runners.

+Johnny Mars Your kind sentiments are much appreciated. Here's hoping for progress and good fortune for all of Somalia :)
+Johnny Mars I completely agree. Here in Maine, since some Somali immigrants came, Lewiston High School has been dominating in soccer, basketball and sprint running (locals are still winning the distance races). They are definitely, a very athletic people.
We had great runners like abdi Bile as well. Somalia will soon return ;)
Johnny Mars i dont know but every somali I see they are very good at sports even if they don't play still they are dominating other players

Mo farah has like 5% body fat.
It's not jealousy, I just think if they train and live in a different country they should run for that country
good job "mohammed farah" not mo
Breathing along the way is often recommended!
Mo farah superb stamina!!
Those who has nothing to do but criticize Mo Farah should get off their asses and get jobs than they will have something to talk about.
