I shipped my Timber Wolf to Matt in Bryan, Texas to be modified with the 4 things he suggested on his you tube video. I tried it out last week, and it screams like a banshee! Great service in very short time. Very satisfied!!!
I have the red beard filter and this filter sealing kit from Matt along with the flywheel key, and the deflector for my 590 and 4910…. Hes a helpful guy
I already had my new Timberwolf muffler modded and tuned by Iowa Performance Saw's after I bought it but is that flywheel key worth it? They removed the limiters and retuned it too, Im assuming if flywheel key is changed it will need retuned.
Thanks for making this video and reminding me of Matt's awesome products!👍🏻 Haven't ran my 590 in a while (been on other projects) and totally forgot about gear head parts🤦♂️I've seen his videos on all parts mentioned in this video and I think replacing the high jet bypass with a solid one. Thanks Boedy! I just may make an order this weekend😃 I made an Ironhorse style pipe for my 590 and love it but have been tempted to reinstall the muffler for anything other than playing. I've drilled holes either side of the outlet under the deflector and cut my deflector same as yours. But damn... Matt's deflectors are sexy! End of BOOK😂
I love your honesty and the free information you are offering the world. Can you share some port timing numbers on a poulan 330 for me to try my hand at it. Thanks again just for all your hard work. It's a aggravating job you have but you do it well
Not saying gearhead fix is not a good one but I tried similar without much luck but what did the trick was motoseal a o ring in the filter for the pipe to land on I also did one inside and outside on tie down bolt moto seal the small one in the filter also and it worked perfectly on my 600p that was 5 years ago just had the carburetor off the other day to put in a kit hard to start after I would run it out of gas still fine free
I’m hoping someone comes out with an air filtration fix for the 4910/501. Trying different things right now with silicone based O-rings and also regular ones to see if there is any difference between the two and if the setup I am trying works regardless of the type of O-ring.
The stainless steel oblong shaped baseplate needs to be round on the cs 600p, at least on mine! The plastic base opening going into the carburetor is round on my saw!! I will try to round off the sides with a dremil but……🤷♂️There are a ton of 600’s out there before they switched to the 620’s!!
Doesn’t the 4910/501p already have a rubber seal around the opening to the carb? So with those I would think all they need are the two small o-rings that slide into the bolt?
Technically the screen is a Federal law on any federally owned land. I warned about Utah since they really enforce it here, both on State and Federal land. Most states also require it but I'm not sure about other states and enforcing it. If you do a search it isn't hard to find the law on small engine spark arrestor. The site for federal forest service is down right now but once it's up I can try to find the link for you, believe it or not the way the law is written any modification to a muffler makes it illegal, even if the screen is in place. Leave it to the gov. to be heavy handed. This is also why I try to warn on other UA-cam vids that show making or running a modded muffler with a tube and/or no screen that it can cost you a LOT of money but generally they delete my posts since it would affect there views.
Hey @mattr66 I wanted to ask you how can we improve the intake on this chainsaw. I literally just completely rebuilt. This thing, the whole carburetor, all the lines etc. and it started first pool after church and it was idle a bit but then I go to hit the throttle and it literally tries and then it dies. It’s like it’s not getting the gas and I saw that there is gas leaking around some of the areas by the plastic or carb so I know that there’s not a good seal an intake happening with the air filter and the gas getting really needs to be so that’s a huge problem with this there a new gaskets coming between some of the plastic parts and mine is leaking gas as it is not getting to the actual engine properly because there’s no good seal. what have you done to fix this issue? I believe this is the biggest problem with the 590 is poorly designed in this way, but it’s a powerful saw.
Had a dream last night that I was using an echo saw. When I woke up , I was relieved to find that I had only pooped the bed and had a big turd in my hand.
I did the same thing to mine after ONE tank. There was fines all up in the carb body. Much better after the oring fix but I'd still love to have a much better filter design. The red beard is... close.. but the design and fit looks terrible.
Idk if that deflector is worth it to me cause I already had Iowa Performance Saw's muffler mod my saw and he opened up the deflector too but as for the flyeheel key and filter what is the total costs. Just curious without looking
@@novicelumberjack what’s the price on that filter kit? I already have a O-ring on my new Timberwolf but would like that set up on both of my Timberwolves
And Husqvarna doesn't have their own issues? I can think of a few right off the top of my head...vapor lock, over heating, and plastic crank bearings. ALL of them have their issues.
Not to mention a shit warranty…like stihl…if their saws are so great…why only 1 year? Echo would repair this if it caused mechanical issues if you brought it in to be serviced…in the five years of their warranty

Thank you for doing this video, as well as advocating for small business. I just ordered my AIR FILTER UPGRADE SEALING KIT.

So is the Red Beard foam kit better or is Matt’s filter sealer about as good?
I really enjoy the way you are speaking and sharing things for us.👊🏻
Finally someone addressing this I've been commenting for 6 months on various channels trying to get some information.
Great info video!!! All 590/620’s need that filter upgrade!!!! Thanks for the link!!
Flywheel key is only for locating the timing, the taper between the crank and the flywheel is what actually holds the flywheel in place
Especially if you lap the flywheel to the crank real well too. Key is only a locator
That’s a awesome air filter mod!
Have one on my CS590’s and my CS620. Great company
Look at you being all smart n shit. I’m so proud 😮
Thanks dad.

The 54cc echo is the 550p it is basically a 590 with a metal handle bar and a smaller displacement.
No metal handle. Just a smaller engine and .325 pitch instead of 3/8 pitch.
I've used this on a 590 for about 15 tanks and it does work
This will solve my problem... I was wondering if it was just my 590 doing that! I love my timber woof! Thanks man!

In Utah the national forest you have to have one in. it’s like a $5,000 per day the saw is in service if caught and checked.
An air filter sealing kit? 🤔

Good deal, I have 0-rings in front and behind my air filter with dielectric grease since purchasing it new.

Thank you sir. I have the 620p and have noticed the grease isn't really working.

Any aftermarket places for Pollan?
