Wow wow wow, I cannot believe so many grown men are such picky tea aficionados, ha ha! Sorry my tea break interrupted your manicures, pedicures, eye brow sculpting and chest waxing! A proper man's cup of tea has to be two things: hot and wet. If you insist on any other luxuries you need to take your fluffy slippers off and have a word with yourself! Hot and wet boys. Hot and wet! That is all! 🤣🙃
READ THIS! Based on the research conducted by Dr Stapley of Loughborough University, it has been confirmed that putting the milk in before the hot tea is the correct way to make a brew. Sorry to those of you who have been putting the milk in last all this time, you’ve been doing it wrong! This somewhat bold claim is all down to the milk heating unevenly when poured into hot tea. When the milk heats unevenly it makes the proteins denature. This not only does the milk lose its flavour, it is also the culprit for the sticky skin that can form on the top of a cuppa! Brewing your tea in a pot and then adding it to cold milk works to prevent this. 🤣
I heard the milk in first was due to the hot water breaking the bone china, so the milk would mix with the hot water and somewhat cool the tea. Now most people drink from ceramics it doesn’t matter.
Very informative, have seen a similar video by Will Raison which he put the maggots in cold water and then added boiled water from a kettle . I normally just clean them off and put them in the freezer for a week , not the best way if you need them for a next day session granted . Have added flavour at times to the maggots before putting in the freezer and seemingly when you take them out as they are thawing the maggots draw in the flavour. Picked this up a good number of years ago in an article in Coarse Fisherman magazine by Archie Braddock , who probably is the pioneer of using flavoured deads .
Hello Jon, thank you not only for this video, but for all the work you have put in creating so many videos to help others. I am new to fishing with dead maggots and have just followed this video as said on the tin, and all turned out exactly as did yours. I know you said that they can be kept under water, but could you please advise in detail of a long term method of storage for about two weeks without freezing if this is possible? Thank you, kind regards, Tony.
Great video as always. I've used this method with cold water first and it wasnt as good as using this method. The maggots looked perfect and what I had left I froze and now they've defrosted they look just as good. Many thanks Jon. P.S. I drink Vimto so don't care about all this tea nonsense. 😆

I imagine that, seen from the perspective of a non-angler, that, that thumbnail is the most insane image on t'internet. I only started using dead maggots about a year ago. I'm 100% barbless, and I've found them fantastic from tipping a worm to keep it on the hook.
All my worms/maggots/casters etc live in the fridge, anyone other than family find it odd, lol. The way I do dead maggots is to add a couple drops of flavour to a bag with a bit of air in, then leave in the fridge for a week or so, after that I freeze them. I have my bait on a constant rota, week on week depending on where I am fishing.
Really enjoyed this. I've stopped coarse fishing but still got my poles. Told the wife I might start it again and she pulled my chest hair out as she was saying don't you dare bring them in my house. Think it be safer to jeep with the fly n sea fishing
Hi Jon, just caught up with this video about killing maggots, as I am out this weekend on a contest and I need dead reds ,will do this 100%,but would you consider putting krill liquid on them to add flavour and colour too?.Been following your video's for years, excellent video's and always great advice. Cheers Jon...👍🎣
You certainly can and its something Im always playing with, but in all honesty I think they just like the dead reds how they are and I will add groundbait or micros if i need extra attraction.
@JonArthur thanks for replying Jon,living in the West Midlands majority of the local venues ban groundbait, so thats out, but will definitely add micros thanks for the tip...👍🎣
I’d just dust them straight after draining and bag them up. They used to say freezing and thawing draws in the krill flavour but I’m not convinced that’s necessary. They like dead maggots, the krill will just give a flavoursome haze and extra attraction.
nice one jon a good way of doing them i will be having ago at that quick and ready to go ,must remember not to drink the maggots and put the tea in the fridge .until your next adventure by the water tight lines and wet nets,,

I will try that one day, but finding maggits around here - hard! Do you ever flavour them at all? I used to flavour maggots sometime with Archie Braddock's flavours in winter, Hot Magic is one.
Yes Im always messing around with maggots. Spices for natural winter venues and scopex on commercials have been good. Used to use Archie's stuff myself way way back. Where do you live if you cannot get maggots as all good tackle shops sell them and they're also available online.
@@JonArthur As my nickname suggests, it's near Marlow. We had Marsh in Wycombe, MBT in Cookham, and Kings of Maidenhead, all fairly close or on the way to fishing. Appreciate that Tony! You can fridge them for at least a week, but you might want to rinse them in between. Freezing will work too I guess.
Never have a problem freezing them. For a quick method though this is a great tip. Cheers.
Good to know!
I found that the freezing is only okay when you left them at least 4 days. They can still be alive after 2 days of freezing.
Nice Video! The way I did it too. Today I put them in the freezer if I have some leftovers. When I just need a few, I use a maggot sleeper.
