old tip ive been using 2 pint plastic milk containers for storing maggots, caster for over ten years easier to carry and store them in the fridge they have a handle on them
Nice one. This made me think..them little bags you get for putting clothes in and then you suck the air out with a hoover - why not try that!, i'm gonna :)
@@karlchaplin3437 Absolutely, I use old jam jars, others use old coffee jars. If you don"t have enough casters to completely fill your jar, cut some foam and put it in the jar before you fill it with casters. That way your jars will always be full to the brim, pushing all the air out.

Oxygen absorber packets that come in many dog treat bags. Dropping one of those in may help too?
Now that is a proper tip. Thank you mr Hughes 👏👏
This basics channel is class, some amazing advice especially for novice anglers. Please could you do something on clipping up? Accuracy of casting etc
Nice tip Jamie. Have a look at the Wine Saver vacuum pump. Might be able to get the last of the air out.
Paul kozyra been storing his in coffee jars for ages similar idea
I've kept maggots longer ,,leave in plastic bag take all air out ,they look dead but come back ,
Fantastic idea for storing casters.
Brilliant idea Jamie, thanks
I say that's there's tip I have seen for a few years.... Nice one Jay.
After you put em in a bottle do you store in a fridge? And surely inside of the caster would go putrid anyways ?
Fridge is best 👍🏻
Does this work with hemp as well?
Great tip Jamie thanx 👌
Tackle shops cursing you!!!!! 😂😂😂
thanks for this video, been looking for this. Do you keep them in the fridge or just in the shed/garage.
In the fridge is best 👍🏻
obviously you will have to fill the bottle so less air ?
Yes, so worth saving smaller bottles if you don’t have as many casters normally 👍🏻
Brilliant tip. Thank you. I really wanted to see Andy getting them out the bottle though. 😂😂😂😂
Great tip

Or you could by a food saver machine for £20 with bags that extract air and seal the bag so all your bait is always fresh!
Brilliant
Jamie’s top tips 👍
Can you freeze them?
Wouldn't advise it, this is the best way we've found of preserving them and keeping them usable :)
At £4 a pint, you’ve saved me a few quid. Cheers.
Considering maggots were three quid a pint 35 years ago I don't think they're expensive now, especially compared to some groundbaits.
Well I never. Wish I'd known this long ago! I take it they won't float?
Nope, might get the odd floater but just skim them off and they’re good to go 👍🏻
Guy got sun burn
Great tip !!!! Lady's and gents this man is the Phil Taylor off match fishing 🎣😂
Refrigerated??????
Ideally yes 👍🏻 but anywhere cool.
Would old glass jam jars or empty sonubaits bait booster bottles be any good? Same principle but bigger opening to get them in and out.
Any air tight container will do the job 👍🏻

The tackle shop owners won’t be happy
Save you money to spend on more tackle on your next visit 😂
