BMW app shows charge curve, average charge speed, and energy put into pack. Do you have access to this?

I think this test just shows that pretty much any of the the Surge cars are capable road trippers. Most people on long road trips will drive until they get tired, stop, spend the night somewhere, then rinse and repeat the next day until they get to where they are going. All of the cars in the Surge other than the Legacy Model S were capable of putting down good miles in a day. Some will take longer than others. This car would come dragging up the rear, but then again when we road trip we aren't racing. It means rolling in an hour later than another car on the same trip. Not ideal, but it can be done.
I think for a car in this price range we should expect it to charge like a boss. Regardless of how efficient or inefficient it is. That part is disappointing. To be on the impressive list you need to be at the Ioniq 6 and above level on this chart. BMW has a lot of work to do.

I totally agree. It was the most comfortable car of the group but the powertrain really leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Somehow I missed that there's an Out of Spec Testing channel now. Subscribed.

Need to see charge curve to justify average of 178.2 kW. Based on energy delivered, it suggest ls a 120 kWh pack you said pack is 105 kWh (or so) so that suggests 12% charging losses. That suggests average charge speed of 155 kW, more reasonable.

I'm sure 7-series owners have a different car in their arsenal for road trips.

And no mention of the DCFC charging counter that reins in the charge speed after 3 or so visits to an ultra rapid charger in 24 hours - this could be the most bloated city car on the roads, huge size and poor charging. Strictly for the plutocrats to travel from their office to their corporate jet for intercity trips…………. BMW needs to do better especially when you watch how poorly it performed against the other cars on the I-90 surge run in a similar price bracket

Realistically thought if you put 3-4 DCFC visits into perspective in 24hrs. How many miles would have been covered with those charges in a day? 800-900 miles? About what most people on a typical road trip will try to put in before calling it a day, getting food and a place to stay and then rinse and repeat it again the next day when on really long road trips. Now if you are in a hurry and need to push on to get as many miles as you can as fast as you can then this isn't the right car for the job. I don't think anyone would classify that as a city car, but it certainly wouldn't be high on my list of choices to take a road trip in either. For this kind of money the BMW should charge like a boss, and it just doesn't.
