- Troy has a Rolex AD problem! They have sold him a Rolex Submariner, Rolex Starbucks and a Rolex Batgirl GMT. But how can he convince them to sell him a Daytona? Let's talk about it!

You are the best Marc, and the only watch channel I will drop what I am doing to watch
You are far too kind, Mr. Bruce. But I’m giving thanks that you are not a nitroglycerin manufacturer!
Does your channel only discuss Rolex as me thinks you should try another topic,as Rolex owners are kind of seen as being more interested in money than watches which is a shame
And almost making the brand toxic,
Marc, if you want a Daytona like a sports steel white dial, knowing it has a waiting time of approx. 10 years, it makes sense to buy it today new from a flipper at a little more than double the official price because with one or two official price increases per year you will pay double the price in 10 years from the Rolex AD.
I always get very itchy when people say “double retail is a good deal because it used to be triple retail”. No watch over retail is a good deal.
I love how Rolex owners think that they are lucky and privileged to be blessed enough to give him money for a products that are made over one million times a year so aren't rare rare, then you have the double privilege of worrying if you will be robbed for the extra cream on the coffee 😂😂😂

All i heard is “ I’ve lost all my dignity…do I need to give a reach around or BJ”….the Rolex game sucks (literally)
Mark ,Mark, your content is great your one liners are comedy Gold !! The mistress and wife reply give me a great laugh. Continue with the good advice sir.
Hi Marc, in general i don't really comment in the videos I watch, but I just wanted to let you know that it's nice to see you doing again the "regular" videos, not only the live streams.
Thank you for the content!
Thanks! Now that I finished my third book and it is off to the editor. I’ve got time for videos again.
Great advice, I realize this is an old video but market prices are actually still similar to what you are referring to in this video (alittle lower now) and anyway you gave perfect advice!! Only thing I would’ve changed is you could’ve told him to sell that sub date (trade toward) the desired Daytona he wants and pay the difference from a proper open market dealer (brand new fresh unworn) and Troy would’ve been good to go! I say it that way because he doesn’t exactly need to steel sub dates in that small of a collection.
Marc you ought to do a state of the collection video at this point, I would enjoy that video!
What about the solid platinum with diamond baguettes….

we don't know his relationship with his AD....but i wouldn't push the issue
Lol Troy wants to take it to the next level 😂🤣 I feel the same way, I’m currently waiting for the panda, blue skydweller and Green 41mm OP, after I get those I will be asking for an Oysterflex Daytona.
I have a Daytona black face all stainless. Paid 26, know it’s worth less. But I will never sell. So is the price really important? Love that watch
If you want a Panda, seriously, there is no better time to get one on the grey market than now. Two months ago I got a great deal on a full set and have not looked back. For me, the AD is for getting the better of the range Omegas, Tudors, IWCs and Zeniths - at a discount ! If they just so happen to offer me a 'not too over-hyped' Rolex which I'm interested in (like they did the 2022 Air King which I absolutely love), then I'm happy. I resigned myself to the fact very early in the piece, you are not likely to get offered a 'hyped' Rolex unless you spend BIG. You simply can't keep all of those watches and other pieces of jewellery that you'd be expected to buy. You have to on-sell in order to fund the next purchase. Most sensible collectors who've been in the hobby for any length of time know that it's impossible to rotate through and enjoy wearing the ALL pieces in their collection. It's also not worth the time and the pain of assessing + meeting potential buyers not to mention security issues, etc.
I think that unfortunately those worries about being robbed will only get worse, ALOT worse also some Rolex owners are kind of seen as being more interested in money than watches which is shame

Good day sir.
If you have the income to own 10s of 1000s of dollars on watches, why would anybody wait years for a Daytona? Just man up and spend the extra money and buy it in the greyhound market and own it tomorrow.

When your best salesman retires or gets fired your pretty much screwed. Trust me. The managers ask u to email them at that point but you don’t get their text number. Ur lucky to get a new salesman
Since he's done so well I wouldn't be pushing too hard at the AD. Perhaps he should buy a nice Datejust or two to grease the wheels. He could also bite the bullet and buy grey market if the Daytona is a must have now. I still feel better days are ahead both with AD availability and secondary prices as the recession bites. We'll see.

Always sound rational, and well thought out advice given, on the part of you, Marc. I don't think there's ever been a time where I thought otherwise. Well done. Cheers....

Great content Marc! Question for you. Last September (09/21) I purchased a 126333 two tone 41mm Datejust when I was picking up my 15200 34mm OPD from service at my AD. The 12633 Datejust was just sitting in the window and I couldn't resist. Upon purchase I asked to be added to the waitlist for a black submariner. At Christmas I popped in to say hello and dropped off Starbucks gift cards for the staff with thank you cards! I ended up buying a 124060 no date sub on my birthday (03/22) for close to 20k Canadian on the grey market and went into my AD to get it sized I felt this was my way of showing them I was REAL. I asked to be put on the list for a Starbucks sub as green is my favourite colour. I explained to my AD my eyes were green, the University I played and graduated division 1 lacrosse at was green (Wagner College 2019) and where I was just about to graduated professional school from (Nipissing University 2022) was also green. After watches and wonders I saw the release of the sprite GMT and fell in love. I went in the next day and purchased a green dial PRX Tissot automatic from my AD and asked to be switch from the Starbucks sub list to the sprite GMT. (My AD said it would be easier to get the sprite GMT over the Starbucks sub). About two months ago I walked in to pickup my 114270 explorer from service at my AD and I mentioned my girlfriend liked the 34mm pink OP. I stopped by my AD three weeks later as I was planing to buy jewelry for my girlfriends birthday but my AD offered the 34mm OP pink dial to me and I purchased it on the spot (09/22). A week after I purchased my girlfriend her OP I got jealous and Purchased a brand new SpeedMaster Professional from a boutique and went into my AD to have it sized and show him. My AD loves chronos and does not sell OMEGA as its a small 100 year old family owned jewelry shop (ONLY Rolex, Tudor, TISSOT, HAMILTON) Within the last 12 months Ive had two rolexes serviced through my Ad and purchased two Rolexes from my AD and a PRX automatic. My question is - Im 26 and a true watch guy. Ive been with my girlfriend forever and Im inevitably going to drop the bag at some point for a ring. I want want it to be a well thought out CALCULATED decision. Am I currently in standing position to get the sprite GMT or do you believe I have to spend more???? I wanted to wait to spend 30k on a ring for when I asked for a Daytona LOL!
Thank you,
DP

As an Omega 1960s 321 wearer, Daytona is a no go on my wrist, 1960s 5513 is OK though. My nephew was lucky, he won the black dial Daytona. In my book 1960s Daytona comes after 1960s Omega, Heuer and Universal Geneve.

Mark, you hit the nail on the head. I was fortunate enough to be sold a panda Daytona by my AD, but only after buying diamond earrings, diamond tennis bracelet, and referring family and friends. That's really the only way. And of course, having a friendly relationship with the AD is also a contributing factor. Love the channel, dislike your outro music.. its too loud and sorry to say awkward lol. Other than that, keep it up!

If you don't have gold or silver or both...cash a TIMEPIECE in and shelter from the storm... it's coming

Been hearing exactly that since 1982.
You need to power wash and stain your deck.
Has he still got the three watches he has been sold. If so ensure he has one one every time he goes to the dealer and rotate them to prove they have not simply been flipped. Other than that its what you say, if you intend buying a watch or jewellery, even if it is a few hundred dollars get it from the AD if possible.
If I were him I would just buy all 3 if I can, keep 1 sell 2 for profit. If the AD asks just say the other watches are in the bank safe and you only like to wear say the Starbucks, it's your prerogative and I doubt the AD will ask further than that. If that still doesn't help him get the Daytona, at least the profits made by selling the two would help in buying the Daytona from the grey market.
Welcome to the program welcome to the show I am Andy Hunter haunting you!

Maybe he should expand his horological horizons
Yes 3 pieces steel sport model 😳😳😳😳
I'd frankly rather not get the watch than to pay double over retail. I can see a small premium over retail but never double or triple.
Would you pay more than a penny for a 1943 D one cent coin?

If you ain't spending money at your AD on other things like jewelry or other watch brands you ain't getting the hot rolex pieces let alone the panda daytona no matter who you are. They may give you one so so hot piece and that would be it, getting all those steel ones especially in the last 3-4 years without buying anything else I found that hardly to believe.
I find it hard to believe that you would feel that you are privileged to get basic steel watches and your AD should be thankful that he still has people willing to give so much money for such an over hyped brand .
Rolex make up 28 percent of all Swiss watches
So aren't rare, also you get the privilege of looking over your shoulder in case you get robbed, nuts

Got a blue YM just by walking into my AD at the right time. No waiting list needed and that was my first ever purchase. That was late 2019 though. Waited a year and a half for a Kermit and 6 months later got a Panda. That one was a three year wait. Picked it up a couple weeks ago and just in time before the latest price increase.
I think you will find those days will soon return, as I've I feeling that people will soon be dumping them as the financial future is only going one way and that's down
