Totally agree about watch market being down. If ADs say it's bad it must be even worse than we think 😂 hard to sell on the second hand market too, unless you can ship to the States. No one has any cash!
Fully agree, two tone are available. I was offered a Sea Dweller and a GMT2 GRNR at my AD just last week.

There is always going to be people who mock AD’s and claim every model is 5 years wait.
The notion about AD’s banning flippers is total rubbish as they are floating many independent jewellers who will not ban big spending clients.
Ok so he’s got 14 days to find a buyer without losing his money. You’re right it is cheeky but the ADs have to refund him within that time. I guess they can ban him from buying from them in the future.
Being out of watches for 20 years, it was a shock to see Rolex as 'king' of the industry. Back in the day, Breguet was the absolute king.
Hublot was an upstart. The best thing is the rise of microbrands.
By UK law they have to refund within a certain amount of time if item is still as new. Believe it or not UK law supersedes Rolex law.
Has to be unworn and unsized for a full refund within the 14 days, otherwise it’s an exchange from what I understand.

AD could stop that very easily ... just on the "waitlist" dont prioritise some people but do it first come first served method. There would be a flipper or two in the bunch ... but they would have noone to sell to cos everybody would eventually get their turn on the list
I don’t think it’s just the flippers. Regular people would buy a Rolex because they know if they keep it a couple years or so and have fun wearing it the at least they’ll get their money back if they need it. But now losing 4k on a two tone just takes away that whole segment of the market.
Here lies the problem this is a hobby for collecting not investing. I don’t care about future earnings from a watch that’s what the stock markets are for. This bubble caused and is still causing problems for collectors.
Lot of ADs still continue to hang on this exhibition only bull and due to high demand nonsense..... obviously still assuming the general public are idiots 😂

week by week Rolex are becoming more available. I own 2 Rolex both bought before the hype when available by walking in, one a James Cameron Sea Dweller in 2015, the other a Sub bi-colour in 2005. Both AD's made the purchase feel special. Now I walk into an AD and they all have negative looks on their faces if they don't know you. why have a boutique at all when all you say to customers I'm sorry you can't have that one.

I made a comment on another Rolex video sarcastically thanking a flipper for ruining buying Rolex for the rest of us that actually want one. He attacked "mate you telling me you've never flipped a watch". Er yeah that's exactly what I'm saying as I can't buy one because of you knobs.

I don’t need a Rolex sized. My Explorer fit perfectly without being touched. I would like a submariner but do not want to pay flippers rates. I am better off getting a Sea Dweller as it has little to no money in flipping and its RRP is close to the subs flipper price.

Inflation going through the roof, interest rates are slowly rising and people are losing their jobs. Watches are a luxury, happy about my Cartier. I am looking at another watch, no hurry i am sure I will get it in December. Love your James Bond Omega, a bit pricey.

I never actually bought one but was tempted by a two tone sub a few years ago.
No point trapsing around London AD’s or anywhere else in the country for stainless steel watches, the AD’s still play games on those. You can pick up an unworn green OP36/41 on the grey market much cheaper as they won’t sell you one without making you buy something like that two tone yacht master of yours first.
I bought my wife a green OP for her birthday last year, it had stickers on and I negotiated £1800 above retail. I bought it when I wanted on my terms. I’d rather just pay the premium at today’s prices it’s not 2022.
But the watching market is slowly declining by this summer you will be picking up most watches below retail I believe massive economic crash is coming
The AD know who the flippers are that why the practice won't stop. if an AD refused to sell to lnown flippers and instead sell to someone who actually wants just one maybe two watches ro wear daily and cherish it for life it would end or least be vastly reduced. The serisl number of who bkught which watch is registered and buyers should be blacklisted as should the AD if caught misbehaving misbehaving
Now you can see that it's the whole market and not specific brands that are doing bad. Something the dealer won't tell you is they have a safe full of submariner and more than enough GMT as well. They won't sell them because they have to get you to buy dj and Yachtmasters that most people don't want because they can't be flipped. This is how Rolex sells so many watches. I don't like the practice even though I would love to buy a Starbucks sub. I wish the buying process was normal because I don't think people liked the brand any less before but now all the fools who don't collect but want to make a quick buck have ruined the experience.

You are spot on with this about the watch market and the rolex market. The flippers will continue until profits go negative and that’s when they will stop. But the CPO program is actually pushing flipping closer to the end. Which is good. Once flipping is dead, true collectors will finally be able to enjoy collecting again. Of course there will be models that are always going to be in demand and have a premium… after this is over it will probably go back to 2005-2011 era of availability 😊
in your dreams. We are sooo sooo far from the 2005-2011 era of availability. I was at an AD the other day, they get >10-20 new requests daily for a rolex watch. I was quoted >2 years for an OP or expl 36. The situation may improve a bit, but imo imho ime ymmv, we will not see men stainless steel models in the showroom anytime soon. Maybe more womens watches, full gold and a few 2 tones once in a blue moon.

The way to stop the flippers is for Rolex AD's to ask for a £1000 premium deposit over MSRP which is only refundable after 12 months dependent on proof of ownership.
