There is a trick to make the nut bags a little easier. Just turn the bag inside out so the seam fabric is on the outside then when done just empty the bag out by turning it inside out again and rinse. This way the nut particles do not get stuck in between the seam fabric.
While you can do this, it will make a milk with more fiber in it. I dont recommend it, but people have used it. Try it and see if it is acceptable for you. I always use the best appliance for the job, and the vrt is the juicer that best does this task from what I have found.
Great timing! I just tried making rice milk in the Omega VT juicer. It kept locking up; but finally it was done. Definitely a work in progress. I'll have to watch your other video again to see what I did wrong.
I always recommend you make enough coconut milk (or other nut milk) AS NEEDED. and drink it right after you make it, just like fresh juice. If you must store, I store for no more than 2-3 days myself. Its probably good for up to 5 days from my experience.
1. Better blend - sharper blades promotes better cutting than beating action. 2. More dependable - I would often blow out bearings in the blendtec disposable carafe.
That is what I have found too. I've had to have the carafe replaced twice (thank goodness it was still under warranty). I have both and while there are things I actually prefer on the Blendtec - if I had to choose one, I would choose the Vitamix.
I am NOT paid to make statements. I make these statements based on my personal experience, and will soon BACK it up in a video. The blendtec is still a great blender, I wish *EVERY* product would always improve.
the white coconut in this video is from Mexico. They are generally available at Hispanic and maybe Asian Markets. I get these in LA at the wholesale produce terminal.
store in an airtight container in the fridge. Store it like you would fresh juices. (I made a video on it). I store fresh coconut water no more than 3 days. Freshest is bestest.
Great vid. I've been wondering about that. When I make coconut milk in my Vert it gums up with cream and is hard to deal with. Looks like a good excuse to pick up a Vitamix.
Hi John. Absolutely love your channel. What's your experience with the refrigerated shelf life of this type of coconut milk? I make almond milk in my Vitamix using this same technique, but these types of unpasteurized nut milks will often start to separate or change in flavor after a few days in the fridge. Being unpasteurized raw milks, they seem to have short shelf lives. How does this coconut milk made using the same technique fare in storage? Okay shelf life or does it go bad quickly?
Hi John, I have the Omega 8006 (Amazing appliance). Is it possible replace the vrt for the 8006 to make the coconut milk, using it in the same way that you used the vrt in this video?
Still looking for a review of the new Blendtec Twister Jar, though. Even though I know you love Vitamix, I'm sure you must have customers who like the Blendtec. Would love to see a review of this relatively new product.
The Living Milk company out of ibiza do a brilliant polyester "universal nut milk bag" on amazon, really durable & easy to clean, i use that and my magimix 11610 blender, the milk is incredible & the yield is great. The remaining coconut is like sawdust, great for thickening stir fry sauces or adding to smoothies or deserts. the only problem in the uk is young coconuts are tough to find so if you want nice coconut water you have to buy it in a carton or can.
Hi John, thanks for the great video!! I tried doing Coco mike the same way as you showed with the Omega VERT Slow Juicer VSJ843 but nothing came out of the pulp shoot. The milk never got separated from the fiber. I don't know what I did wrong: Did I over blended the coco in the blender? Did I make it to thick in the blender? Maybe the slow vert doesn't work with coco milk? Please advise. Thanks Much!
John you had a rainbow Aura man! You must be over filled with phytonutrients! Taste the rainbow! Awesome video! I can't wait to see you try the glass carafe dynablend. I hope it does as good a job. -Mark

Agreed. I will soon make a comparison video comparing nut milk in the vrt400 vs vrt350. should be a fun video.

I love all your videos and I have learned so much from being a raw vegan but they are so long. By the way I got the omega 330 hd WONDERFUL!
Hi John! If you don't the drink coconut water right away, what is the best way to store it, and how long can it last?
Were do you get those coconuts? all I see is the little brown ones at the supermarket.
Thanks, John.

Thank you! Very helpful!
you can juice it OR use the bag. The juicer takes the place of the bag.
Welp. That convinced me to return the 8004 and pick up the VRT

Why do you prefer the Vitamix over the Blendtec ?
Where do you get your coconuts from?
Omega 8004 is the best I have used.
