I've had the OG ps5 since launch no issues so far
I have, since i play Spiderman 2, it always turn of randomly cause overheat
@@hadiwibowohadi1496I bet your console is dusty as hell lol
Same here, no issues and haven’t heard the fan once single time so far

@@lopesmorrenofim what is RMA?
Hearing what it's supposed to sound like has put my mind at ease with my normal PS5, I was so anxious whenever it would get loud like that but if that's what it's supposed to sound like I feel alot better
Yeah, mine sounds like that when inserting a DVD into the drive but only for about 5-10 seconds. Afterwards, it's quiet. My PS4's DVD drive did the same thing as well.
Now is it normal to hear like a buzzing when starting up? I’m having a different problem instead of
Mine is super quiet, I don't even hear it. Seems everyone has a different sounding PS5 lol.
i noticed that when i have a disc inserted the ps5 its makes noise when i turn it on or when i load a different game but when there is no disc inside it is completely silent like its makes no noise at all idk if that’s good or not
@@oscarmena2709 yeah, I think a lot of ours do the same. So, it's normal.
Had the buzzing on mine, the cover plates were a bit loose. once i took them off and put them back on properly the buzz noise was gone
Just did this
Same thing
It fixed it
For me it was the disc drive plate on the inside
The one that coveres the assembly
I kept hitting the shit out of the side pannels thinking it was mu fan or somthing but it turns out it were the pannels
For me is the table that expands the sound 1000x
Original PS5 also had that sound with units that had disc drives that were too tight. Loosening the disc drive screw solved the problem.
It worked for 5 minutes on mine, had to do it over and over again with no luck. What a piece of hardware that was.
It wasn't just that either. My PS5's disc drive would sound relatively normal but after an hour of use with a disc inside, it would spin up really fast and make a really loud noise and close whatever I was doing. Even if I had a disc inside but was playing a digital game it would still close it. I tried everything usually recommended like manually ejecting the disc, looking for the heatsink defect, etc. but it was never fixed until I actually opened the disc drive itself and fixed the blue rubber piece inside. It was *barely* not sitting flush and I am honestly surprised something that was barely noticeable caused such an issue. Has been working with zero issues ever since.
Never experienced that issue with my og ps5
To think we'd have to do that after paying $500+ for a damn console 😩
Moral of the story is welcome to Sony airlines flight👨✈️✈️
Sounds like it’s about to take off ✈️
Ps4 fan 😂
This one sounded like a saw
Ain’t no way the slim in normal working condition sounds that loud actually sounds like my ps4 pro that’s been cleaned anyways my Spider-Man ps5 doesn’t sound nowhere near like that and actually very quiet besides install/ reading discs
I like PlayStation fan sounds. They’re relaxing.
@@user-yt5nx5vo5t we going full circle
This was good to know, & on a side note, the PS5 Slim looks better than initially thought, design wise. I have the OG PS5, it’ll be 2 years old this June, it’s still going strong.
Well, I would hope so 😅
I also had a vibrating noise coming from the console, and i was worried at first, but it was just these stupid plastic "feet" vibrating...
I don't even have a PS5
Still return it
I have PS4
Stay with xbox
Don't get one, i regret mines
Don't worry you will get one inshallah.
Y'all ever played on xbox 360s? Or even the original ps3s. Those things were LOUD. My ps5 does make a lot of noise, but I thought nothing of it since I grew up with consoles that were loud. It still plays games fine so I'm not worried
PS3 PS2 and PS5 are goat
Thanks man, im a new ps5 player and i have the slim, so i can go to this video all the time! 😊
Thanks for the info! ❤😁
I got the Ps5 DE 110"2B" AYAYA model. So far so good! 🤞
I bought the thick old PS5 around slim launch time at a discount. Happy I did.
I have a PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and now I just got a PS five. All of them function and work properly. It’s still nice to know some of these little things when getting new gear.
PlayStation groupie!!!!😅😅😅 good for you you have great brand loyalty. If something works great and continues to satisfy then it's a good product. I'm looking to get a used ps 3 and 4 soon.
My PS5 makes a buzz sound. For mine it's coil whine because it only does it when I'm playing a game. I never hear it though when my TV audio is on.
This sound happens on the original PS5 I have. Although it happens with some games such as my copy of Resident evil 4 for the PS4. Some PS4 games don't cause the buzz noises, but it's weird that it happens to some games specifically
It sounds like the disk might be warped if it happens only with that specific one. It happened all the times to me when PCs used to have physical releases on CD-rom.
On PS5 might be exacerbated because the drive spins faster.
Cheers.
He mentions it around mid end of the video
I got scared too, it happened when I put on a new disc(Saint's Row) It was loud vibrating noises, but it soon went away after a few re-inserting the disc.
*Hello there John, I'm from UK London area, I recently brought a ps5 slim with disc drive some weeks or months back, I had the same problem as you with a buzzing sound, I was testing out ps4 and ps5 games and heard a buzzing sound.*
Hi can you answer a few questions about the ssd internal memory storage on your other videos please if you dont mind taken time to look.
I own both Xbox Series X and PS5 Digital. The box is absolutely silent but unfortunately the 6 month old digital is loud as hell.
That's why I still both my PS2 slim and fat models tanks of a system no issues and had them system 20 years brand new😊.
I hear ya, I have a heavily modded PS2 fat, and it is as rock solid as the day it was made. And that's with freebootmc and an SSD HD. And a Linux partition that lets me play classic games with RetroArch.
The PS2/3/Vita are some of the very best consoles to play around with. The PS4 is promising and the ultimate would be the PS5 with mods for allowing PC games.
My Slim buzzes like the ones in the subreddit but only with certain discs. I tried realigning the covers with no luck. I then realized it’s likely due to me using borrowed PS4/5 games from the library with those StingRay RFID films on them, and it’s possible that some films were applied just ever so slightly off, causing vibration when spinning. I only have one owned game and it sounds normal like the end of the video.
I have this sound on original PS5. And only with CupHead disk. Also last part of Ghostrunner 2 installation process gave this sound. New disks may be part of the problem, too
My 1st edition ps5 dont make that much noise using a disk
Just got my ps5 slim and it’s just perfect 💪🏽🔥
I got one too
It looks so slim, definitely getting one
I have a ps5 slim and I play astro playroom every day
I got one too
Is it quieter than the ps4 Pro?
I’m about to buy one on the first of this month. I will keep this in mind.
It’s a loose cover in my case. Reattaching stopped it momentarily. And pressing the cover firmly stopped it.
I think they deliberately make the discs drives bad so they make us slowly switch to fully digital consoles.
I feel the same way
Fr we have to fight against that an only keep on buying physical games like I do. Reject digital gaming cause that’s gone b the downfall, they will make us play on subscriptions
I had this issue with OG PS5 - it was the Disc Drive - I exchanged the console.
I had to return mine too. As the disk drive would not read any disks at all, Was very frustrating. Wasn't even a year old, Barely even six months old at that.
I like that the slim has a replaceable disc drive .
The ps5 Pro will to .
Also, check where your PS5 is housed. Many love putting their console in a rack or TV cabinet. And while it isn't recommended, you can do this by purchasing a USB or small electric fan and placing it behind (not close to the back) of the PS5 facing outward to act as a thermal "exhaust". However if you do this, you will have to clean more often. Cooling is your friend on these powerful consoles. I've done it for my PS3/4/5 X360/One S/Series X and no problems so far.
Mine doesn't make that noise, but it seems to randomly spin the disc at certain points when I'm playing a game. I think it's normal, it's just a bit annoying.
Glad I stuck with the OG version, never had a issue in 3 yrs
Same got the OG model and have not had a single problem.
@Gaming-Enthusiast - Congratulations you are really fortunate. Hope it last for an even longer time to come.
My controller drifted after 4 months .
you are really lucky bro, I have noticed I guess coil whine couple of months ago... also probably have some bads with the performance, and that is really sad because I purchased it like almost 2 years ago, and it was expensive at the time
After 2 years my ps5 is lagging sometimes no matter if online or offline games I don’t really know which reason or what is broken but I think the hard disk is broken
I have the original PS5 model, and I've never had any issues, so I'm glad I didn't "upgrade" to the slim
I've had 3. The one I currently have is the OG and it's the only one i've had issues with. The fan rattles HORRIBLY.
It would not be an "upgrade", it would be a "slimgrade".
Up grade or down grade
Not really meant to be an upgrade, the PRO is the upgrade, it comes out towards the end of the year
How is the slim a upgrade ?
The smaller heat sink and cooling fan ?
I have my current Slim Console on horizontal position. I have 2 small desk fans to blow into side of it to keep it as cool as possible. So far, I have had no problems issued in this video.
Helpful, thanks
I have a question,
Is it okay to keep the ps5 plugged into AC power socket all the time?
I always fully shut it down after I'm finished playing, but i don't unplug it. Is it okay?
It's ok to have plugged in
No it's not okay, it's going to overheat and explode, setting your house on fire. Millions of people have already died this way.
The disc drive is only loud for a second, and the weird noise coming from my slim was jusr a weird plate. Still a very good console i love it
I got a PlayStation 5 Slim (with the Disc Drive) a month ago. It was a better deal. Most of my PS4 games are downloaded and the ones on disc, I had no reason to install them on the PS5 since they're already installed on the PS4. Didn't even know this was an issue since my PS5 games are downloaded.
I got the og ps5 a few months ago just before it got discontinued. It had this noise within the first couple weeks but after that I haven't heard it since
Sounds like a bike game on master system i used to play.
I figured the slim model was cheaply built, glad I have my original big boy PS5
Honestly I never even knew this problem existed had my slim for about 3 months now no noise complaints or problems
@@dbz448same here
@@SpirituelGamermy buddy was recently telling me his fat PS5 stopped reading discs all of a sudden. He traded his fat PS5 for the slim and no issues
And I was about to sell my ps5 too for a slim lol never mind
All slims are cheaply built and stuff removed to make them smaller just look at the ps2 slim and phat model, I’ve had too many issues with that slim and ps3 slim/super slim so I just got the phat models of both and definitely feel more premium, even now take a look inside the OG day 1 2020 ps5 compared to the current slim all that was removed and downgraded with cheaper versions like the heat sink for example
Still haven't bought one...what's the point?...I might get one for gta6 but until then I'm cool with my pro ...currently playing mass effect legendary and it looks fantastic on the pro
That sounds like the old Iomega ZIP drive failure when the actual seek mechanism would fail. Not the old "click of death" from the ZIP drive.
So is slim overall louder than standard PS5?
Looks like it from this video.
Could you test with a noise meter for us.
The slim is so quiet bro. He has a high end mic close to the console you arent hearing sounds like this in real life out of your ears. Especially if u play digital games u aren’t hearing console noise
@@AP90x Glad to hear it
Low quality microphones are usually the ones adding compression and distortion making everything louder
Yes the slim is decently louder than the og on average
@@ajju9233 no it isnt.
@@AP90xThen why is the fan louder on my slim compared to my OG PS5?
Sounds like an aircraft Set power. LOL.
Sound pitch seems consistent with the disc drive.
I've found your channel 3 years ago, binge watched it, stop watching for a bit, got my first console, came back to your channel, and still think your last name is funny (sorry for making you read through all that)
So many possible problems and therefore so many possible solutions. I’d consider replacing the fan with a different brand/model or maybe even a different type like liquid cooling. Not saying any of those would be the answer but it would be on my list of considerations.
Why is the normal sound still loud
Its normal
I’ll stick with the base version ,so far so quiet and easy to clean ☺️
my base version also has a loud buzzing sound when reading PS4 discs, had it for about a year, but aside from that it s silent as a grave
I have a question: If I get the digital version, will it make this sound again?
I hope im good enought on school to get one in august! Wish me luck!
Need to return my og ps5. It only turns on after like 6-10 attempts. It's the opposite of a teenager.
?????
its coil whine (atleast thats what i think you showing in the video) and i have it since a few years now. it hasn't caused any issues besides the sound (and at this point i'm far away from the ps5 where i don't hear it anyway), so at this point its fine. you also notice how the coil whine changes depending on the game you play and how much fps/graphic intensive it is
its not the coil whine
The noise being presented in this video is not "coil whine".
I bought my ps5 slim when it came out. No disc drive buzzing noise but when in a game. The fan howls, really weird I have short demonstrating the issue… it bugs me a little because even with headphones I can still hear the noise
How about if the CD disk is corrupt, you won't play anymore or still can download online with the key?
OG consoles are almost always better
PS3 fat sucked, dead in no time
No, the OG has more HDMI port detachment issues 😂

I had to replace my HDMI, but that's the only issue I've ever had with my OG. Still run buttery smooth and super quiet. @DavideDavini

It's still wild that the PS5 slim is that loud. The Xbox Series X disc drive is effectively silent next to my PS5. It's so annoying that I just stopped buying physical games for PlayStation all together.
I hate that the title is so click baity but nice step by step video. Honnestly many will just jump the gun and return perfetly fine PS5's in store who will have to deal with returning it when they make absolutely no money on consoles whatsoever,
I think the solution is to loosen and tighten those 3 screws from the disc player. I had the same issue on my original ps5 and now it's gone. Think it's a factory defect of the disc players on some consoles
Help me so I got the ps5 today and I’m trying to out the disc inside but the disc isn’t even going into the ps5. thank you!

So if it does the buzzing sound and stops after a few seconds, is that considered normal or does it have an issue?
At first it would never make noise but as dust has I’m assuming accumulated it’s making a bit more noise I heard this weird buzzing when I started it up and I thought it’s because dust or something internal it might have just been cause I forgot to take out the disc for awhile when starting up
Get the digital version or buy PlayStation colored covers and make your disc version a digital version remove the drive. It will be fine.
what a dumb solution
I have the original PS5
Even fat models have this sound with some discs
I have a digital PS5 CFI-1216B After a year it is still very quiet and runs as well as the first day.
But the PS5 is rarely in use. I've only been on the PC since 2019
Is it ok if my ps5 slim makes it when it turns on and then after 10 seconds it turns off the noise?
Am avoiding physical games, ps5slim digital is the future

You delusional lil bro
So the slim is a piece of CRAP.....🤔
I wouldn’t go that far. There are few reports. It’s early to tell if it’s a design issue or just bad luck. I don’t know if you remember the panic, when the OG launched, about PS5s being bricked by leaving games in rest mode on external drives, or something. Turned out to be a very specific issue that was actually quite rare.
What I mean is that hopefully is much ado about nothing.

Sounds like a turboprop plane. Wish I could afford both a ps5 and xbox though, ps5's a cool machine!
It certainly resembles the sound of an aircraft taking off or a hair dryer in use.
I put in a ps4 disc in my ps5 slim it started vibrating and making a quiet buzzing noise. What do I do?
Which headphone yr using?
No such problems with my slim since I bought it in November but I had to exchange my original unit because the optical drive was shuddering a little when I first put a disc in, and I would get kicked out of disc-based games after exactly one hour of play with an error saying that it could not read the disc (regardless of what game).
I have the original version PS5 and it makes a weird sound when i place a PS4 game in the disk drive but not with a PS5
Mine just got delivered. right now i'm installing games on it. Sometimes it makes a buzzing noise but that is probably normal because it's doing a lot.
I wouldn’t worry too much about it if I were you.
Cheers mate and happy gaming.
The noise is normal.
The Disc Drive is working properly and will stop the noise after your games are installed or ready to play.
Thanks, I was worried
I've had an OG PS5 since launch but unfortunately while I was away on vacation my house was struck by lightning and the surge protector I had in my wall was overloaded and my PS5 broke resulting in me getting the slim digital to replace it. I have had at least three times in the short maybe month I have had it the Slim digital overheat while simply loading up Spider-Man 2 and I've barely played it since for fear of burning it up and or breaking it. I am currently testing out if maybe the area I had it on was too dusty or something but regardless I am having a horrible experience so far with the slim digital because my original had zero issues the entire time I had it.
...lets hope they resolve these design flaws in the PS5 Pro- ....anyone can see Sony put together an awkward chassis design with flimsy fitting components -
0:30 mine used to do that. probably cause of the absurdly big game i play. doesn’t do that on any other game tho
I have a ps5 slim, thankfully it doesn’t make this sound, and I’ve been really enjoying it!
Had my ps5 for almost 4 years now maybe runs like a champ
Had coil whine but after a couple years haven’t noticed until now that it’s gone.
Sounds like my old Xbox 360. The disc drive and fan on my PS4 slim are so quiet compared to this when running normally. The time has come though I really need a PS5 slim with disc drive.
I removed the cover plates but it’s still making noise from the disc part
