I miss how Patrick was portrayed in season 1 as a laid back type of fellow who tried to help SpongeBob with his issues even though he was just as clueless about them.
Yeah, originally he even took the role of mentor, giving advise to Spongebob. Patrick kind of was someone who spongebob looked up to. Now he's... that
Kinda like of how Heffer was potrayed in Rocko's Modern Life. He the character that helps out Rocko's problems, but he's uniquely stupid (but in a helpful way). Same instance as early Patrick. But now, he obnoxiously just acts like a lazy Majin Fat Buu. (I would compare this archetype to Aqua from Konosuba. She's also a very full blown stupid character that always gets Kazuma in trouble.)
I feel the exact same way!
same they made him a worse idiot than he usually is.😊
He was the stoner friend in the Season 1 days
In earlier episodes Patrick was at least competent enough, now he’s too stupid to function.
yeah they flanderized his character so much it's utter trash.
basically a dimwit.
@@thisisnotthechannelyourelo407 yeah patrick was never a genius by any means, but he wasnt braindead either
Patrick was funny because it seemed like he was stupid, but then had random showings of smartness, which almost made it seem like he wasnt stupid, just that his brain was on power saving mode. He was like an enigma. He also wasnt that overly happy all the time
@@AryzoThe inner machinations of his mind are an enigma
Old Patrick: Chill but stupid
New Patrick: Stupid most of the time
Honestly I'd say the old patrick was just more dull, rather than just completely stupid.
Old Patrick was just a stoner and that was the main joke, he quickly just became regular stupid by Season 2 with the Mayonnaise is an instrument thing
Middle patrick: malicious and insufferable jerk
@@JohnBrian-wm8fw the first 3 seasons he was just comedic stupid. Skip over to now hes just braindead
They did the same to spongebob too he was a competent adult, who composed himself, instead of how the new SpongeBob cries like a child, the old SpongeBob would cry too but only when appropriate for an adult to cry, and the old spongebob even told mr krabs off a few times one of them even cursing him out
Watching just clips of new “”SpongeBob”” is physically painful.
Its like tiktok content. Aggressively unfunny
It is too bright there is too much sound too much faceial exprecians and its like you Are forced to laugh at unfunny jokes
The overstimulation ,,, i hate it so much
If SpongeBob is only stupid, are there degrees of stupid that are more or less desirable? Is "old SpongeBob" less stupid, but still having some stupid more entertaining?
@@dxitydevilThis right here. They are almost entering UA-cam Kids levels of overstimulation
I don't think I’m okay with Nosferatu being a recurring character rather than just being a one-off character.
He only shows up for the Halloween or horror related episodes.
I agree, what made him funny in the first place was the fact that he just showed up at the end of the episode for no reason, no explainations whatsoever, while also being a character from such an obscure piece of media that none of the viewers would know who he is, adding to the joke. But giving him a episode and giving him cameos every chance they can just isn't nessisary, not bad by any means, but he has no reason to keep appearing, as he was only intended to be a one-off character.
@@AGuyWithNoEggs
His moment in the original episode was also funny bc of how out of place he is. The way he's animated and the fact he shouldn't really be underwater.
@@Kyumifun not to mention everyone but you knows who he is already as if hes been there the whole time

Patricks drinking a glass of water test:
Seasons 1-4 Patrick: Tilts the glass back, but the water pours into the ocean around him instead of his mouth. He looks at the glass in mild confusion.
Seasons 5-9 Patrick: Stares at the glass for a few seconds before pouring it onto the ground, then giggling a bit at his reflection in the puddle.
Seasons 10-14 Patrick: Eats the glass, then spits the shards out at Squidward when they taste bad, impaling him.
The last one is funny
Accurate
Seasons 1-4 Patrick: goofy, a tad ditzy but well-meaning even though his advice isn't always helpful and he has some truly smart moments every once in a while
Seasons 5-9 Patrick: way dumber, way more childish and sometimes a little mean-spirired, but not always
Seasons 10-11 Patrick: slightly re-railed to his earlier personality but not that much
Current seasons Patrick: would give the flanderized versions of Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin a run for their money
@JohnBrian-wm8fw No it isn’t.
so accurate omg
Early season Patrick is one of my favorite fictional characters ever. He isn’t dumb, he’s just laid back, and a guy SpongeBob looks up to. Though his advice to SpongeBob isn’t always the best. I REALLY wish they kept this Patrick, and not the certified brain dead Patrick we’ve had for a while now.
I still consider early season Patrick dumb, but at least he wasn’t a brain dead.
They sadly only really had Patrick act like that early on in season 1, as even by season 2 and 3 Patrick was made much more comically stupid than he was initially.
I feel a similar way with Mr. Krabs, where in season 1 he felt like a mentor for SpongeBob that genuinely cared about him (even if he was still a greedy cheapskate, he had moments like in "Squeaky Boots," where he put his greed aside to repay SpongeBob), and in seasons 2 and 3 we have episodes where he literally tortures and abuses jellyfish to make a profit or attempting to sacrifice SpongeBob and Squidward in order to get back a singular dollar. Granted, not EVERY season 2 and 3 episode had Mr. Krabs portrayed like this (such as "Bucket Sweet Bucket"), but a noticeable chunk of episodes from these seasons had Mr. Krabs be far more malicious than he was initially.
Granted, Patrick and Mr. Krabs were still funny in seasons 2 and 3, but their more negative aspects were exaggerated a lot earlier than some people think.
Patrick was pretty smart in some cases, like when he guided spongebob while he was driving
@@MontyMoleLoreMaster This, it's the same case with Homer. He was of average intelligence in the first season but quickly became stupid by the second. In the case of Patrick his stupidity was charming, like a mentally handicapped kid. He's still pretty funny now, the Patrick Star Show does give him more of a personality. But that's just my opinion
@@JohnBrian-wm8fw Homer also became much more sadistic in later seasons. Remember that episode where he burned a bunch of caterpillars to death with a blowtorch while manically laughing like a psychopath? That scene legit felt like something Peter Griffin would do, not Homer.
all the homies hate season 14
The saddest part is that (In my opinion) there is a point of no return. I think SpongeBob crossed it years ago.
If a show has a coupon of moderately bad season they can recover with a few excellent seasons.
This show has been in the dumps for far too long. Even creating the best season ever wouldn't make me rewatch. I like watching commentary channels rag on it though.

Old Patrick: dumb best friend that meant well

5:33 since when patrick has a nose?? Wasn't the whole plot of a episode that he didn't have a nose??
That's inconsistent from episode to episode, there's episodes like when Spongebob's breath stank, or that one where he's obsessed with having a nose, where he explicitly lacks a nose so much he can't smell anything, but then there's episodes like when they had to paint Mr. Krab's house where he shows he does indeed have a nose he can pluck nose hairs from to make a very bushy brush xd
I couldn't agree more. This is one of the worst things about those new seasons, Patrick always been my favorite character because he tried to be a good friend and had his "smart" moments at times, also the dialogue driven jokes in the old seasons used to hit the most when they came from Patrick.
Remember the "we have technology" line from "wet painters"?
There is nothing left of this type of Patrick, he is annoying, unfunny and the animation switch been hitting him the most sadly, the faces he doing all the time are just hard and stressful to watch.

@kittenscratchanimeart Agreed. The only show I've watched that pulls off referencing modern pop culture is South Park, but that's because that show was made to mock modern stuff, so it works. Idk why old cartoons are trying so hard to "be cool." Pack it up, let it rest, and start something new.
I'm in an uphill battle with The Simpsons show. It's god awful now, but it occasionally sneaks in good episodes. I think it's modernized itself so much to the point that it's unbearable, tho. It's literally just like SpongeBob now. I look back at the older seasons and weep 😭

Bro, his dumbness in early seasons was brilliant.
i remember when patrick was a jerk in a episode and made spongebob pick up grains of sand and he ate spongebobs ice cream ☹️
i even hated that episode when i was younger
Modern Patrick 2 seems to be an overfix of Modern Patrick 1.
While he's no longer a jerk, he became WAY too silly to be invested. He's all wacky but no substance.
Speaking of which, why is Sandy with an Alaskan Bull Worm? Isn't the worm her iconic enemy?
Speaking of which, this episode takes the Rocky aspect from The Great Snail Race and stretches it too far.
It's so sad that Nickelodeon is treating the show that represents their entire brand with such little respect and care
"their entire brand with such little respect and care"
Yeah man, the the juggernaut that makes them 12 billion a year through merch sales, takes up all of the air time and gets the best quality animators in the entire industry is surely being treated badly. The only show that actually would fit that argument is probably something like Invader Zim or My Life as a Teenage Robot.
I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing that they retcon Patrick's sister
Makes me wonder what kind of Traumatic Brain Injury Patrick experienced to create such a layer of craziness.
Maybe it’s because Patrick got a concussion and the whole episode is from Patrick’s perspective, making it dumb.
The fact that they've flanderized a character who was already flanderized since like seasons 5 or 6 is insane.
3:38 impact frames in spongebob is insane
Man, I am so glad that one Ren and Stimpy nut-case isn't in this comment sectiom right now, I got tired of talking to him and his alts.
That guy thinks he nickelodeon is gonna notice him 😂😂😂😂
Imagine being a grown ass man defending the honor of spongebob squarepants😂😂😂😂
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69kinda crazy that modern Spongebob has shooters 😂 fending off criticism isn't gonna make the show any better
@@1nc0rr1g1bl3 and lets say that at the very least the show is entertaining and maybe just not for everyone, lets give them that.
But throwing insults and making personal attacks towards anyone who didnt liked the episodes is just pathetic, imagine being an adult and defending spongebob squarepants like this 😂
Did you miss me? cope and seethe buddy
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69 You are of Latnix ancestry therefore your opinion is invalid
Something that occurred to me watching this is its not just dumbed down and referencing itself, they're trying to copy the humor styles of other shows like Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stinpy, even a bit of tom and jerry, but they don't know how to do those things correctly.
DUDE spongebob is just not the same anymore
The thing that made Patrick so funny was that he wasn’t entirely dumb, he just had his own ridiculous logic. None of that is left now
They made Patrick start dumb now he used to be secretly smart but now not even slightly
I never thought vore would be in a sponged episode, but here we are.
Well, at least this episode doesn't involve food
It only involves vore since they eat patrick😂
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69BYE JAJAJAA
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69 What is it with the writers adding vore to their episodes, it must be a fetish or they are just on drugs.
