"I've seen a million faces, and I've ROCKED them all!" What a great line. Bon Jovi said the song was inspired by Bob Seger's song "Turn the Page." Another song about touring on the road.
Drove into St. Louis one Friday afternoon. Stayed at the round hotel across the street from Busch Stadium. 1985. Wasn't familiar with Bon Jovi. Heard about their sold out show on the radio driving in. Headed out to dinner. Got on the elevator with John Bonjovi, Richie Sambora and Rico Torres. They were my age, but dressed for their show. I introduced myself. They were very friendly and introduced themselves and we shook hands. I told them it was a shame the show was sold out. They said they would give me a pass if the had any. Too bad on missing the show. They said they were having an after show party on the roof and gave me a card to get me on the roof. It was a small quiet gathering, them unwinding from their performance. Got to speak with them for about an hour. Friendly, down to earth guy. Rat opened for them and were on the roof also.
Yes, Jon is talking about life on the road in this song. But after this song (and the country vibe) he was approached to write the theme for Young Guns 2 “Blaze of Glory” much love friend! 🤘🏼
actually, emilio estevez wanted to use this song in Young Guns 2, but Jon felt like it wasn't a good fit what with all the "steel horse" references and wrote "Blaze of Glory" instead.

I went to a pearl jam show in Seattle back in 2009-10. Was the start of the backspacer? Tour. Phones EVERYWHERE, even back then. I decided to get a little high in this group of screens. Pulled out some weed, took a puff and put it away...within 30 seconds, all of the real people came out of the woodwork. Old fans all the way up to a 70 year old lady congregated around me. Then the show felt real. I was in the middle of a group of real fans, no more screens. I love what you said about kids today going to events just to post on their social media, whereas back in the day it was all about the music only, and the creative artists who could write songs that will last forever. I saw Bon Jovi in concert many times in the 80's/90's. In the early days the crowds went wild, like they were on stage performing themselves. It was mass hysteria. Girls were passing out everywhere, people were leaping around and shouting uncontrollably. And in them days Jon left it all out there on the stage, only leaving when he phsyically didn't have the energy to do one more song even. It's a totally different world now, with so much less passion, heart and soul, for the music that truly moves you.
You're right about going to the concerts. I saw Rush in concert in '87 or '88. I never even thought about taking pictures or anything like that. I just concentrated on the music and enjoyed being in the presence of greatness.

Memories and a large collection of tour shirts, ticket stubs and quite a few back stage passes! Unfortunately my ex boyfriend thought my larger collection of back stage passes was lame and tossed them along with all of the ticket stubs from 80-92. Thankful my lanyard for Stevie Ray Vaughan was safely tucked away when he went on that tangent as it was for Stevie’s last show in Los Angeles before he died.

This was not written for a movie but likely led to a song that was written for a western, Young Guns 2, he performed a song for that movie. The song was titled Blaze of Glory. It was not done by the band but done by Jon Bon Jovi. This song was about touring.
Bon Jovi was my first concert 😄 I would LOVE to see you react to Billy Idol’s Cradle of Love official video. That was THE video for about a year when I was in school and MTV still played music videos every afternoon, and very few people have actually reacted to it.
The producers for the movie "Young Guns" came to him and asked if they could this already made record for their movie. He said no, but that he would write a different song for the movie called "Blaze of Glory", which is an awesome song too and very, very fitting for the movie
A motorcycle is a steel horse. The song's title pays homage to Jon's admiration for Old West heroes, and how he identifies with them as being hated and loved at the same time ("wanted dead or alive", so to speak). During an interview on Inside the Actors Studio, Jon said he got the inspiration for the song early one morning when he could not sleep while riding in a tour bus. The "lifestyle of every rock band" was similar to that of outlaws in that each was, "a young band of thieves, riding into town, stealing the money, the girls, and the booze before the sun came up."
This song was not for a movie but “Blaze of Glory” was. Jon Bon Jovi wrote “Blaze of Glory” for Young Guns 2. He received a Golden Globe Award for the song.
Going back in time to all the concerts I've been to. No cell phones or cameras. All we have is the memories. And good memories they are. The ones I can remember. LOL
Yep! LOL When I think back on all the great bands I saw, I realize how lucky I am. Still a few that I missed seeing but the ones that I did experience make up for it. 👍🏻
Actually responding to your subcribe video, and I wanted to let you know that you were the first reactor I ever did sub, to. I'm 52 yrs old St . Years ago we went to the beach every weekend. When Wanted Dead or Alive came on the radio, EVERYONE on the beach cranked it all the way up. I would go stand at the shoreline and watch everyone rocking out; up and down the beach. Fabulous memories with the song.
Bon Jovi was amazing in concert. This tour was the greatest. The guitar player is Richie Sambora and has amazing vocals too. His song Ballad of Youth is awesome, check it out.
great reaction... JBJ fan since the beginning, usually this is the encore song at their concerts... it was great seeing them in over a dozen concerts..they put on a great show.. standing the whole time.. Jon is one of the best front men in the biz
This song wasn't "for" a movie but it has been in a number of movies/shows. Blaze Of Glory was written for Young Guns 2 in which Bon Jovi himself had a small role in. Both the movie and the song are on my list of favs. But I'd have to say my most favorite Bon Jovi song would be Raise Your Hands off of Slippery When Wet. This song also was used in Spaceballs when Barf is dancing around in back of the winnebago
They have a huge hit called “Blaze of Glory” that was used for the movie “Young Guns.” This one we just did is a favorite of mine- “Bed of Roses” is great too! 🤍❤️✌️✨
From a music theory standpoint, this is Bon Jovi's best song. The minor key and chord progressions sound like the old blues music from a hundred years ago.
It wasn't originally written for a movie. But that being said it's successful blend of old western sound with rock n roll was definitely what brought the production team from the movie Young Guns 2 to reach out to Jon Bon Jovi to record the soundtrack for that movie.
I have seen Bon Jovi live 7 times and the first time was in 1987 when I was 16 and Slippery When Wet was at it’s peak. The last time I saw them was about 5 years ago. Just as good today as in 1987. This song was not used in a movie. Unless it was later, but it wasn’t written for one.
Back in the 70's, If we liked a popular song(there were so many), we played the 45 or album over and over on a record player till we knew all the words by heart. Some would right them down. Forced us to listen and interpret the meaning. I have an Archive of music stored in my head that boggles my own mind. Lol. So grateful to have grown up at that time. 70's and 80's were the BOMB!
They did an absolutely AMAZING version of this, unplugged, for one of the first MTV VMA shows. It just Jon and Richie with acoustic guitars, 100% live.
I took my daughter to see them for this tour. That part where it goes, "I've seen a million faces" and the crowd lights up, I found out later "Oh, that's what all the friggen' lights were for when I heard that the video was filmed at our show. Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it. Well maybe not our show made it to the video, but I thought it was really connecting that with those lyrics and the lights, I could see a few thousand faces around me while the rest of the arena was black and I realized how cool their view was.
You're thinking of the song "Blaze of Glory" by Jon Bon Jovi with Jeff Beck on guitar. It was featured in the western, Young Guns 2 w Emilio Estevez, Keifer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Philips.
I was at a Black Sabbath concert on their final tour, and my friend was recording the whole thing. First I punched his arm 5 times while yelling at him to watch the concert with his eyes instead of through his phone, then I told him I'd buy him the tour DVD if he'd put his phone away. I was jamming, playing air guitar, drumming, and head banging, while he stood motionless to get a good video. Instead of recording it to watch it later, live it now!!
Hey Jamel! This is my favorite song of Bon Jovi's; don't get me wrong, I love a lot of their songs, but this one...gave me a glimpse into being on the road and the toll it took on all of them. Good and bad. Two statements that get me every time, "...faces are so cold, I'd walk all night just to get back home" and "...sometimes you tell the day, by the bottle that you drink". It says that that life isn't all that it's cracked up to be...not by a long shot. They do it because they love the music, and they want to please the fans, but they have to do it to feed their family. I've been waiting for you to do this reaction. Thanks so much. Thank you for keeping great music alive. Peace...You and Your Family Be and Stay Safe!!!
I miss those days... concerts in the 80's and early 90's were about the music and the fans... Bon Jovi always put on a great show!! ... it was in the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man...
Blaze of Glory was written for a movie young guns 2. They wanted this one and JBJ said no this is mine and it has nothing to do with the old west so he wrote Blaze if Glory and it is hands down the best JBJ ever.
Another "on the road" song. Yes, it does have a western feel. Years later, Emilio Estevez asked Jon if he could use this song for a Young Guns movie. Jon said he would do something better. He wrote and recorded a dedicated soundtrack to the movie! If you already haven't, check out "Blaze of Glory." ua-cam.com/video/MfmYCM4CS8o/v-deo.html
When this album was EVERYWHERE my Senior year of High School, I never imagined I'd be in a Cover Band that regularly plays this song. It's awesome when the crowd sings at the top of their voices the reply, "WANTED!!". 😍🤘🏽
I carded Jon many years ago at the go-go bar I worked at. He said "Don't you know who I am?" I responded "Yes I do, you got ID?" He used to live one town over.
You are so right ! I saw Bon Jovi twice in the 80's, and I NEVER took my eyes off the stage or the people around me ! We were there to enjoy and experience every moment ! Have you done Bed of Roses ? Beautiful ❤️ song !
Check out( Blaze of glory ) by them. I think the people who did young guns 2 realized how much dead or alive sounded like a western movie soundtrack they figured who better to do the theme song for the movie! And Jon Bonjovi was a cameo in the movie also!
@@mikelawson6456 The one live on stage was yes, but there is also a studio acoustic version, that is just Jon and Richie and it was recorded about the time of Slippery or right before New Jersey.
The great thing is in the 80's tickets was only about $12.50-$17.50 it was great, my friends and I would cut grass in the summer, rake leaves in the fall, and shovel snow in the winter, we always had money for concert tickets, we never missed a concert that we wanted to see. Great times, no cell phones, but we did get alot of phone numbers.lol
I'm 54 years old and I was kind of bored with this song until I watched Sam and Dean Winchester sing it on Supernatural. Now every time I hear it I think about that. Made me a fan of the song again.
The 'cowboy' reference is his 'persona'...his 'steel horse' is a motorcycle....'wanted dead or alive' is him talking about being a performer...and people (both those he works and fans) wanting him on stage dead...or alive.... Plus at the time this song came out, Jon Bon Jovi was in the movie of Young Guns II. Bon Jovi was an "arena band'. Their songs are big loud, powerful as were their concerts. Made to be played in front of 10's of 1000's of people in a huge venue. If you want to see a video of them at the apex of their arena band glory, check out "lay your hands on me"
Your final considerations about the different approach to the music, the artists and the concerts, today and back in the past, are so true. You're a very sensible guy. Well said.
When I was growing up we would go to a different concert it seems every other weekend. 13.00 - 15.00 bucks and you could go see Bon Jovi, Poison, Aerosmith, Tesla, Boston, etc....... My kids today freak out when I show them all of my ticket stubs I kept. GOOD TIMES!!!!!!
I feel like we definitely appreciated the music more back in the day cuz it wasn't at your fingertips, you had to save your money and go buy the vinyl or you wouldn't hear it, especially if you were into metal!
Dude, I grew up in the 80's listening to 80's hair bands, 70's classic rock n country. Watching your reactions to the music i grew up with and I still listen to each and every day makes me realize how lucky I was to grow up in two of best musical eras since music was first created. Thanks dude...
That was filmed in Pittsburgh, I can honestly say I was there. You're absolutely right, we were there to enjoy the moment, the music and the bands!!!!!
Yep I think it & definitely Blaze of Glory were in the movie Young Guns 2, that, I think, he even played a small part in. Cause he's been in other movies.

Going back in time to all the concerts I've been to. No cell phones or cameras. All we have is the memories. And good memories they are. The ones I can remember. LOL
Yep! LOL
When I think back on all the great bands I saw, I realize how lucky I am. Still a few that I missed seeing but the ones that I did experience make up for it. 👍🏻
Actually responding to your subcribe video, and I wanted to let you know that you were the first reactor I ever did sub, to. I'm 52 yrs old St . Louis confided to bed (cancer ) but look forward to your amazing attitude towards life and music. Music was always my passion and I had great parents who never saw color and so I grew up with friends /brothers of all ethnic groups. Passed down to my daughter, now my grandaughter. Thanks my friend, PEACE
We were present in the moment. Saw them several times and never thought to record! Just lived it!!!
Years ago we went to the beach every weekend. When Wanted Dead or Alive came on the radio, EVERYONE on the beach cranked it all the way up. I would go stand at the shoreline and watch everyone rocking out; up and down the beach. Fabulous memories with the song.
"A loaded six-string on my back" is such a great line.
The legend, JBJ, yet again, kills it. Thanks for reviewing this track!
If you have room for one more Bon Jovi song, 'I'll be there for you' I highly recommend.
And Jon acted in Young Guns, too.
Small correction - “they” did not do Blaze of Glory. It was a JBJ solo album and a very good one at that.
Bed of Roses is a lyrical masterpiece
From a music theory standpoint, this is Bon Jovi's best song. The minor key and chord progressions sound like the old blues music from a hundred years ago.
You finally did this one. 👏🏻. Probably their best acoustic song. Richie on guitar...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It wasn't originally written for a movie. But that being said it's successful blend of old western sound with rock n roll was definitely what brought the production team from the movie Young Guns 2 to reach out to Jon Bon Jovi to record the soundtrack for that movie.
This song wasn’t written for a movie, but it was played in the movie Wild Hogs with John Travolta, Martin Laurence, and Tim Allen.
Yep, we were there to scream our guts out and leave half deaf with our ears ringing and no voice left.
Definitely one of Bon Jovi's best. Love Love LOVE!!
I would love to see you react to their song “Bed of roses”.
Yes, Bed of Roses... it is a very mature song about true love and the doubts and obstacles that come up and the closeness we need anyway
one of those songs that still gives me goosebumps after all these years!
Thank you, this is one of my favorites.
Try to hear Bad Medicine brother Jamel
💛
Back in the 70's, If we liked a popular song(there were so many), we played the 45 or album over and over on a record player till we knew all the words by heart. Some would right them down. Forced us to listen and interpret the meaning. I have an Archive of music stored in my head that boggles my own mind. Lol. So grateful to have grown up at that time. 70's and 80's were the BOMB!
Underrated guitar and backing vocals by the most talented guy in the group.
“Bad Medicine” - with Sam Kinison opening. They gave all fans video cameras and put the video together with their recordings.
PLEEEAAASSSEEE!!!
😈🌹😈
Bad Medicine has such memories for me lol.
ua-cam.com/video/eOUtsybozjg/v-deo.html
The song was not used in a movie, however, it was inspired by Jon's work on the soundtrack for the movie Young Guns.
Why record it? YOU ARE THERE!. EXPERIENCE THE MOMENT
Bon Jovi- Blaze of Glory & Bad Medicine
Blaze of Glory is Jon Bon Jovi solo, not Bon Jovi.
I miss those days... concerts in the 80's and early 90's were about the music and the fans... Bon Jovi always put on a great show!!
... it was in the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man...
In the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man Staring Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke they play some of this song in the beginning.
Oh you're one of those?
You are so right ! I saw Bon Jovi twice in the 80's, and I NEVER took my eyes off the stage or the people around me ! We were there to enjoy and experience every moment ! Have you done Bed of Roses ? Beautiful ❤️ song !
Theme song of the Discover Channel Deadliest Catch show.
Check out( Blaze of glory ) by them. I think the people who did young guns 2 realized how much dead or alive sounded like a western movie soundtrack they figured who better to do the theme song for the movie! And Jon Bonjovi was a cameo in the movie also!
Find the acoustic version. It's really good.
Jon and Richie at their finest!
Believe that gave birth to MTV unplugged
@@mikelawson6456 The one live on stage was yes, but there is also a
studio acoustic version, that is just Jon and Richie and it was recorded
about the time of Slippery or right before New Jersey.
MTV music awards. Maybe 1989
If you want to see a video of them at the apex of their arena band glory, check out "lay your hands on me"
Might’ve heard it, never LISTENED to it. - YES! There’s a difference! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes! More Bon Jovi. They are fire live in concert!
Saw them last year and Jovi couldn't even sing. Had his back up people doing all of the vocals. He sucks.
"WeWerentBornToFollow"
It was from at least 20 years after these ones you have done. They still sound great
Your final considerations about the different approach to the music, the artists and the concerts, today and back in the past, are so true. You're a very sensible guy. Well said.
I dare you to do "Dry County". Bon Jovi goes epic: nearly 10 minutes long
Love that song and what a great solo by Sambora. Has to be the full version! 😉
Such an epic song!
Bon Jovi at their best 😍🤟
Swimming in the sand!
The one thing I don’t like about going to concerts in the smartphone era is the recording.
That was filmed in Pittsburgh, I can honestly say I was there. You're absolutely right, we were there to enjoy the moment, the music and the bands!!!!!
Please react to Terrance Trent Darby!!! Brotha has one of the coolest voices ever!!! Suggest Wishing Well and Sign Your Name!!!
The song Blaze of Glory is from the movie Young guns 2. Jon the lead singer had a small part in it.
This was my mother’s favorite song!
Just an interesting fact, Jon Bon Jovi owns a restaurant that you pay what you can or not at all if you can't! Awesome person.
Back in the day you couldn't even take pics at a concert or security would come take your camera
Yep I think it & definitely Blaze of Glory were in the movie Young Guns 2, that, I think, he even played a small part in. Cause he's been in other movies.
Rock it out Richie Sambora.
“Miles of smiles” -
Richie Sambora.
How true!!
😈🌹😈
@@christinevergona4524 what are those symbols about?
Hey brother, you're the best one on here doing these reaction videos. I was blessed to have grown up during the greatest era of music of all time. If I can help you in anyway feel free to let me know. I don't know everything, but I do know you love this great music that I had the privilege to have grown up with. I agree 100% we have to keep this music alive. I live in Indiana just north of Indianapolis. I was around 16 or so when the tragedy of the Edmund Fitzgerald occured up on the great lakes. It was in the newspapers for weeks here in the mid-west. You're exactly right, it was the excitement of seeing these great singers and song writers. It wasn't about being the 1st to post something on social media.
This music has been hanging on by a thread for a long time. I'd love to see you review "Radar Love" sung by
Golden Earring. Come on, let's get this party started!
"Blaze of Glory" Bon Jovi
This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I love it
I believe the song was used in the movie “Young Guns” or “Young Guns 2”.
that was Blaze of Glory, another great tune
Nope but it was used in Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man
All the Black kids when I was growing up in Detroit loved the hell out of Bon Jovi.
Try the band “Til Tuesday “ song “voices carry” women listen to your channel as well as men they’ll love it and don’t forget Ricky Lee Jones debut album by the same name! Go Jamal!
