Both sides have ONE last ditch effort that now goes before the judge only, no jurry.
Defence has to come up with something to try to get Mark off the death penalty...
State gets their chance to reinstate why the sentence should be carried out.
Then it is up to what the Judge's ruling is. I'm pretty sure the death sentence will stick.

What I can never understand is how these murderers justify what they do to THEIR OWN families (we know they don't care about the victim's families or they wouldn't kill the victim in the first place)..I feel so bad for the murderer's mother, siblings, daughters, as well as the victim's family. They're each hurting though in totally different ways.

Couldn't agree with you more!, "at the end of the day" so to speak they need to realise its Mark that's done this to them, not the court, not the jury, or the prosecutors - it's all just Mark, he should be happy that it's all about him....he thinks everything should be all about him. It'll be all about him the day they put him to death, too, so,I guess he'll be happy on that day. also....:) I know I will be!!! I will pray for both families to have some sort of peace. His wife's family don't appear to be happy that the jury reached this verdict & good for them, says a lot about them, they're not gloating or jumping up & down. The jury arrived at their verdict following the guidelines of the law, can imagine it wasn't pleasant for them either though. A rotten job to have to do - God bless them. A lot of people were pulled into Mark's personal quagmire.

I knew it was death when the judge went past the first page to review it. I did think they would find it to be for money, but I think when his defense kept talking about what Wright has said and prosecution objected twice ad the judge tried to make it clear it's not about what Wright said but ONLY what/why Mark wanted his wife dead. I think that may have made one or more confused as to that part of the form. And I notice one of his family members smile when they heard that part, but face change completely when they heard the rest. Well I'm proud of this jury gettn it right on both phases. My prayers go out to Teresa's Family, especially her two Daughters and her Mother.

99 people have been executed in FL since 1979, 7 in 2013, 8 in 2014. The other death row inmates are aware. The execution room is on the same floor. In 1980-82 & in 2007 no one was executed , but every other year since 1979 there has been at least one execution a year . That’s a 🤯 for other inmates.
On FL death row he’s in a 6 x 9 ft cell , no contact visits & only 3 non-contact visits a week. You eat in your cell , only shower every other day & wear those shackles whenever you leave the cell .No air conditioning or phone calls . No cable tv or internet. Snail mail . You can have a tv & radio but they are positioned outside the bars of your cell. It’s compared to solitary confinement by death row inmates.
I like this for Mark a lot better than the conditions he’d have if he got LWOP.

Both sides get to put their 2 cents in. I think the judge is doing this to insure the 'defence' has after this hopefully no where to go.
    (Hopefully)
Even if the defence trys to you the 'he is/was-is 'insane' line I'm sure this judge will see right through that.

I am neither for or against the death penalty. The only reason I tend to be a bit against it is the cost. Average cost to kill one POS is $3,000,000. It is literally cheaper to keep them in prison for 25 years. The upside to death is his daily living conditions will be far worse on death row than in general population from what I read.
What I find amusing and you know this has to eat at his soul is that his twin (the guy who actually was there and helped kill her) got a less punishment than Mark did.
I always wonder... if you ask him if it was worth it... what do you suppose the answer would be? ;o)

    • @ghostcityshelton9378
      @ghostcityshelton9378 5 років тому +5

No. It happened 1st in Florida some time ago.
Spencer Act just means that both sides get ONE last chance to have their case GO BEFORE A JUDGE ONLY, not the whole jurry thing again.
It's Mark's defences last chance to try to prove to the judge to NOT sentence Mark the death penalty.
Other side show their evidence on why Mark SHOULD get the death penalty.
THEN THE JUDGE MAKES THE RULEING AND THAT'S IT...

Whilst I agree that Sievers is guilty of this crime - having watched the trial - I still cannot agree with the death penalty other than for those guilty of multiple murders or those of children. The fact that Sievers will VERY possibly die of natural causes in prison before his sentence can be meted out makes me even more of an opponent of capital punishment in all but the most extreme cases.
It seems to me that Teresa, a passionate and gifted doctor and someone who wanted so much to bring LIFE to as many as possible, probably wouldn't have been a DP supporter.

@Lisa Boulier Agree totally that he is utter pondscum. And I agree that he's dangerous, too. But a civilisation is judged on the quality of its mercy and there are significant reasons why the DP should be abolished. The main, of course, is the enormous number of bad convictions - totally inexcusable - but even if you just look at the sheer cost of housing DP inmates and also the expense to taxpayers of the seemingly endless number of appeals that every DP inmates is granted.
