- This is one of Richard's appearances on the Dating Game from 1972. He previously appeared in 1968 as well as another appearance in 1973 on the syndicated weekly version.
Ironically, he met the love of his life who was a contestant on his own game show Family Feud. RIP Richard Dawson.
how many of those women did he banged after kissing them haha. king of panty dropping!
....and never kissed another lady contestant thereafter ! Love that guy, his humor will never go out of style. I still watch him all the time!
what???
I miss the 70' it was a great time. I loved the look the 70' had.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Simpler fun times.
Yes! I also loved the MUSIC!
You cant beat the 60's it was much better than the 70's: Music, Fashion and good times
Same here! I loved _My Long Hair, Bell Bottoms_ , especially the Music, and I miss my _1967 Chevy SS Camaro I had in 1973_
Blue on Blue with a white vinyl roof! And I miss being a teen...Dating different girls each week until I did find.. *The One* 🥰🤎1️⃣
Maxi dresses were the scene back then ahh memories
Fortunately, maxi-dresses are making a comeback!
& then Richard ended up meeting his wife on Family Feud, she was a contestant on the show, they were married till he passed. RIP Richard Dawson
His wife was recently interviewed. She said that he was a real great, nice guy on their first date. He took her to his house and cooked for both of them, they had a nice evening of conversation and that was all. However, they were smitten with each other and in dating he kept it all above board. They both really loved each other.
what did he pass? a burrito?
Wow, what a gentleman.
There was a first wife. And what she did to him,... Sheesh!
@@tomdumb6937 I know who she was, but what did she do to him?
That old school keyboard sound never gets old. So groovy
I miss Richard Dawson. 💔
you do huh Lissalives Smoot nothing was more offensive on The Match Games than all those female contestants hugging and kissing Richard Dawson
R.I.P. to Richard Dawson and Jim Lange
I loved this show...Richard is hilarious...I'd choose #2 for sure,gorgeous.
Hands down, #2.
Yes she is
I thought he and Catherine Rae, number 2, would have looked good together. He gave most of the time to number 3, however.
Always loved Richard, funny and witty as hell. Great TV personality, they mostly all suck today.
Those impersonations of Groucho Marx and W.C. Fields didn't hurt, either.
Bingo
watch the dating game 5 times a week
😂 I loved Richard, he always came off like a classy gentleman. I watched Hogan's Heroes with my dad when I when I was small❤️
Richard Dawson was so funny and especially on match game & family feud. No one can ever take the place of Richard Dawson on the family feud
.....or anywhere.!!!!!!
You are so right l really miss him!
@@jackieeaton9368 me to Jackie, family feud isn't the same
Until Darlene pops up on match game 76 on him.
@@KiddBloo86 Darlene who?
Everything Richard was in was awesome. What a great guy. Too bad today’s stars aren’t like the ones from that time.
I would love to see Tom Hiddleston in Richard Dawson spot....
#2 is gorgeous
Frank D. Garrett I thought he should have picked her. The others, too silly!
#2 was right for him by looks. I zoomed to the end to see who he picked. :(
Three years ago you were right. #2 Gorgeous.
@@presto709 Sisters giggled like school girls. #2 was more composed - and so pretty. If still alive, she's in her 70s. How quickly time passes!
yeah 2 was so hot. He fucked that one up. Probably still nailed her later.
Richard always has a good sense of humor...RIP..
He did find his wife on another game show, Family Feud.
and it never goes out of style .. love watching match game especially to this day !
You are MISSED MR. RICHARD DAWSON ‼️💯🤓 back in the day he was A very sharp dresser. Always looks good, Steve Harvey try to be like Richard, but there was only one Richard Dawson ‼️💋
Hello Carole, How are you doing?
He looks like he wants to scowl, "Don't call me 'Dickie Boy'."
Yeah, they all sounded like drips! He would have been much more interested in the woman that said, 'Hello, Richard'.
He was so handsome. The only host for Family Feud.
Watched Hogan' s Heroes just to see him. Lol
Actually, Richard Dawson married contestant of his Family Feud; her name is I think is Gretchen
Yes, Gretchen Johnson. They remained married until his death in 2012.
well, had prior to the that Dating Game appearance been married to 1950s British Bombshell actress Diana Dors, a blonde, so im sure he was thinking Not Another Blonde. Actually #2 looked beautiful enough to be a hollywood TV actress.
@Kitten Lyric
Wow, very interesting, swingers.
Well, he was a huge flirt on "Family Feud" kissing all the ladies. 😘
Is there anything more fair than that platinum gold hair? The most stunning natural beauty. They were the good old days, in many lost ways, but nothing lasts forever.
Only remember that we not all forget how we lived I was a 60s baby
I love it and cant find anyone that knows how to" trim" that hair. Isn't that the craziest? Just a trim..and they take 6 inches off. It takes a long time to grown back.
His eyes were all over number 2 when she came out. I bet he found a way to call her.
My thoughts exactly.
bluenite5 He’s a Dirty DAMN GOD! Hahahahaha!!!
She was cute as hell. And she was wearing a leather collar.
That guy was a player
I was just going to say that. He'll ask if #2 can come with us to Jamaica.
I think he might have picked #3 and then made the midnight date with #2 after he saw her.
He was upset he didn't choose #2 when he saw her
Loved this show, loved the 70s
At 6:37, gotta love “Suavecito”, which had just been released that year, as the waiting music. Awesome!
That's funny how Dawson has no accent as he was entirely British
He sounded American to me. I'm British and hes lost his accent
@@jhibberd6290 He obviously worked hard to sound as American as possible!
You must be deaf he has a full blown English accent
Of course he had an British accent I should know as I am British
@@amandajstar load of crap why would a British want to loose his accent
I remembered watching Richard Dawson on the short lived revival of “I’ve Got A Secret” which he did between “Hogan’s Heroes” and “Match Game.”
I hope that Buzzr picks up IGAS(1972-73).
He didn’t make many “Hogan’s Heroes” references on that show.
The girls were all so tall and slim. I suppose the fashions then just accentuated their slimness, but I bet they went out of their way to pick model-types for Richard.
There was a foolish notion from the 1950's to about 1985 that being healthy with the ideal body weight (according to the BMI) for your height was sexy.
EVERYBODY was slim back then. Obesity is a choice, and it didn’t happen as a medical problem.
@bruce t And I noticed the extremely long hair. Back then it was not extensions. It was REAL!
My mom rarely let us kids have candy and soft drinks. We only went to a restaurant about once a month.
@@cf8959 Back then…..for my immediate family anyway……my children were allowed to have junk food one night, HALLOWEEN. We never went out to eat, we all ate what was put on our plates, meat, potato, veg., salad, jello/cookie for dessert, no food after that before going to bed. My kids today still adhere to that diet and they are super active, in their 50’s and great “kids”….! We were so fortunate NOT to be wealthy, just ample incomes! I was raised in a whole different way, dirt poor….lucky to have a meal on the table, rough life, my two children had it much better!👍🏻
He will be greatly missed love Richard dawson
One of the things I’ll miss the most of Richard Dawson are the kissing and in his “Match Game” and “Family Feud” years, he would put the letters “E-L” at the beginning of an answer and the letter “O” at the end of it like “El-John-O.”
I heard that Richard Dawson was quite the ladies man in the 1970's know wonder he appeared on the dating game several times rip Richard Dawson 1931-2012.
1932-2012
@Kitten Lyric He constantly drops clues that he is bi. That is something that just wasn't done in those days either. He does it constantly. He made the host nervous.
Publicity
@@HisWordisLife4U It really was no big deal back then…..all were accepted!! Even in the 40’s and 50’s…….the stigmatism from exploitation in the following years caused that!!😡
@@carolynnowland3958 Nah.
"sounded like Lawrence Welk rejects." 🤣
How many of these "dates" were nightmares? I'd like to know someone before going on a trip with them.
Richard was wishing it was number 2 after he saw #3
They had a free date in
JAMAICA! wow that was
unexpected
Richard was very handsome.
Yes
Handsome and charming! ♥️
Love the ladie's dresses!!! I want some like those!!
Mr.Richard Dawson, looking like Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows.
Those seventies side burns
And the following year he started his wonderful run on Match Game!
Darlene ends up on match game in 76 with Richard as a panelist. She continues to call him Dicky Doo. She ends up winning over $20,000. Their prior relationship was not discussed.
Number 2 with the neck band is in style now almost 50 yrs later !
Wow, Richard Dawson looking young here.
Richard was definitely a lady’s man. All the women were beautiful.
The good old days of normal names. Pam, Cathy, & Darlene.
The man was a traditionalist - had one of them said no to the 3 year wedding deal I think he would have chosen them.
He did. Darlene said she wouldn't sign it.
For some reason, I'm thinking that one of the bachelorettes was later a contestant on "Match Game", when Richard just happened to be on the panel.
He was single for 20 years. Took a while to find Gretchen
Hello Linda, How are you doing?
This is the same episode that Steve Martin and Dean Martin’s daughter was a contestant on. The video is here on UA-cam and shows Richard Dawson at the end.
Hello Deb, How are you doing?
Did anyone else catch what he said at 3:57? "Brilliant conversationalist but a trifle limited". That was one of his lines in response to Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Running Man.
Yeah I caught that. Not quite fair, in my opinion, as they're on the spot and being asked ridiculous questions.
Hot dang you've got a great memory!
I know I’m very late to this comment thread, but what an incredible catch!
He was always kissing women on Family Feud and Match Game.Maybe they didn't all want to be kissed.
Darlene ended up as the biggest winner in 1976 on the Match Game with Richard as a panelist. She won over $20,000.
Looks like he wanted number 2 by his expressions.
As fate would have it,Richard and Jim would come together again on Family Feud in 1983 for the game show host tournament.
Who knew a year later he'd be a panelist of a CBS daytime game show that became an overnight success and then three years later, have his own game show on ABC that, too, became an overnight success, a feat that would last 9 years. Anybody wanna take a guess as to which two shows I'm talking about?
Match Game and Family Feud...love both shows and still watch them
Fam feud. He was ok. Didn't hate or like him .
I stayed at that hotel. Tropical paradise.
Richard was recently divorced at the time and Hogan's Heroes, despite good ratings, was cancelled due to CBS's use of eliminate those that "stood with a tree up front". He was still making appearances in game shows and was a regular on the NBC show "Rowan & Martin's Laugh In" when he appeared on the Dating Game.
Darlene was on MatchGame 76 with him as well.
Pam (#1) was on Match Game 75 with him.
@@danachilds721 is that clip on here anywhere?
@@Doug41160 I actually saw the episode (Match Game '75) on the Game Show channel. I THOUGHT Pam looked familiar! :) They have so many Match Game videos, maybe that one is on UA-cam, as well. I do remember, Pam and Richard didn't let on that they knew each other during that episode.
@@Doug41160 Match Game Productions has it on their channel.
@@danachilds721 it was actually Pam's sister (#3) that was on MG.
Richard Dawson used the same phrase “a trifle limited” to Arnold Schwarzenegger 15 years later in the movie The Running Man.
Wow, I grew up as a kid with this kind of TV.
I forgot just how bad it really was.
I liked Richard Dawson.
I miss my life of 70s.
To quote Sam Malone on Cheers SISTERS? YOU GUYS ARE SISTERS?! I LOVE sisters! I love the whole IDEA of sisters!
Things didn't work out between Richard and the young lady. He did however meet his future wife years later when she was a contestant on his own game show.
Jim Lang was such a likeable and charming host, Richard was his delightful self, that shiny blond hair was amazing and the model was a stunner.
Jim Lange was a great host of The Dating Game and I think he died around Valentines Day 2014. Robin
@@ChuckGilbert-y3o Valentine's Day- how appropriate!
I know. Robin
Such simple music and times
It look like Richard came on to entertain instead of finding a date.
That's why that "Dicki Doo" girl called Richard that, on Match Game. I can't remember which year, but it was later that 1972. Wow! I felt she had a connection to him because she kept flirting with him on Match Game. I'll have to watch the whole episode, to see if he chose her.
She was on Match Game in 76...kept calling him Dickie Doo, My Red Devil, and my Red Valentine

rip Richard Dawson
Malo's 'Suavecito', into commercial break.
Didn't #3 also appear on Match Game once?
Number 2 ..holy moly
Love Chuck Barris wish somebody would show
More shows he hosted. The Gong show was
Crazy.
All three were lovely
That song playing just when Bachelorette #3 is ready to meet _Richard Dawson_ sounds like
a song by _Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass_ 🤔⁉
Yep -- The song is called Lollipops and Roses.
Awesome Love watching. Crush on him
i think RICHARD should have picked 2 -- the looks he was giving the blondes -- and keeping his hands in his pockets were visual signs -- he did not like them
lyn baker This was four years ago. But you realize that there was a partition and he couldn't see any of them.... He picked them completely and solely by their answers
Yeah I kind of noticed he eyed number 2 a bit more when meeting them. 1 and 3 had better answers though.
He gave #2 a nice big kiss, it looked like the girl he chose he pushed away after a cheek kiss.
@@lexisl3231 he is talking about when they came vout
You DO realize his last wife was blonde, don’t you? His reaction to the answers and ditzy comments had more to do with it.
I don’t know how old these girls were but, Richard Dawson was 40 years old. I don’t know who or how these contestants were chosen.
Those sideburns. 😂
Loved Richard Dawson on Family Feud, The Best. ❤️
Richard looked SO different as an old man.
I heard somewhere, possibly on the Richard Dawson interview when he was older, that for celebrities they could opt out of going on the date. The contestant would be told something polite like the date didn't fit into the celeb's busy schedule. Or something to that effect. I wonder if that was the case in this case? He did seem to be a bit more attracted to #2...and I was very surprised that he didn't pick her.
Richard was a class act, i'm sure he at least went on the date
Dicky was a boring asshole!

How ironic......Richard never did find his lucky lady until he met her while hosting his own game show years later.
He was divorced when he did this show.
@@andytaylor5476 ...I'm aware of that. After his divorce from Diana Dors,, Richard was single for 24 years---an unusually long time for men of his era who often remarried within five to seven years. He was the obvious exception.

It was at this moment that richard knew.....HE FUCKED UP.
Dawson as a bachelor on this show? Nice! Jim Lange,in turn, would appear on the Feud(in 1983)!
A few years later , Richard Dawson would host his own ABC daytime game show, Family Feud.

I miss Dickie Dawson.. .
I miss watching family feud , Richard was layed back his jokes were clever & witty. Loved him on match game too, he was awesome. since Steve Harvey been host I can't bear to watch his jokes are lame forced repeats. Steve's face doesn't help at all🧟♂️🧟♂️.either...

he's just look daring with. adorable on top like a cherry.
This was a year before Match Game.
look at those dresses.!!!!!!!
Anybody know how the DAte worked out? Did he end up going on the Date? He seemed when he was asking questions, he wasn't every interested in the date.
He's approaching it very seriously. Seems he had high standards and expectations.
I remember him here in London when he was married to Diana Dors.
I use to watch this like a religion, all all the time and I was around 10 at the time lol lol
great video
I know Richard from the movie the Running Man with Arnold.
I thought he was rude to the girls with some of his humor.
Dawson is usually brilliantly witty. It's painful to watch him squirm trying to make something funny with these annoying dum-dums.
Richard Dawson went on to preside over Family Feud in the pre-Steve Harvey era.
You could definitely tell he wasn’t impressed!
Those girls must be the reason for the dumb blonde jokes!
They were lucky they were pretty, they weren't going to make it on their brains.
