They are very strong naturally (like they barely bend), but the builder gel adds even more strength, which makes the dip powder less likely to crack on me since I'm very active.

@@SamanthaMarkham2015 no, it’ll compromise the curing ability and put you of risk of nail fungal infections. It also is too loose to use slip solution on.
I never knew you could use nail forms with Builder Gel. That will be next on my list to try. Thanks. Anyone else’s cringing while she files over an open container of builder Gel?
If your builder gel is runnier than the one pictured, you can add a small amount of *clear finely milled acrylic powder but, make sure it’s mixed well in a way that doesn’t leave bubbles in your builder gel (it needs to sit in the container for a few days to allow the imperceptible bubbles to rise to the surface) and use a spatula to squash the acrylic in to a smaller amount of the gel on a flat clean, dust free surface then incorporate that back in to the main pot of gel to avoid issues with curing and uneven distribution of acrylic. Dip Acrylic is better for you get finely milled particles to incorporate properly. We need larger dual forms to accommodate people with bigger nail beds, especially the thumb nails. Improvising around an undersized one is a giant pain in the proverbial - doable but, still more work than it should be. I’ve mastered the shape of a dual form using paper forms and go with whichever suits my mood. Also, gently buff the nail surface to remove shine and clean away debris and filing dust with isopropyl alcohol before applying base coat and builder gel or adhesion won’t last and risks moisture getting trapped between product and natural nail which can cause green and black spots to form and fungal infections that get in to the nail bed and are hard to treat risking loss of nails. You don’t have to hold the form in place, you can use nail clips so you can free up your fingers from pressing them on.
Hi Melissa, I've just found you. I think you did a great job, for a first time. Using the dual forms saves a lot of time, and the shape is almost always pretty much perfect. I've subscribed to you and hit the bell. xx
Concerning the tips that don't match your cuticle area...consider putting your tip slightly above that area to get it to fit better. You can then add another layer of gel after smoothing that area where the gel is by the new cuticle area. I hope that makes sense. I have seen Korean girls do that with the dual forms.
I got some new forms cuz my nails were too curved for the full cover tips I bought & I have clips but was trying to use upside down and it didn’t work 😜 So excited to try again soon! U make it look so easy! I think I also used too much seeing how Lil u used.. thx again for great video!!
If u don't put the nail.all.the way up u can make a longer nail..so.like put the til half way up cure it and then pop tip.off the. Fill in the rest of the space with builder gel
@@MelissasManis oh ok. I did see someone else use the paper form under the nail and used a dual form on top to get the nice shape underneath still. So maybe I need both 😂
I just ordered the lamp that was in your link because I want to start doing builder gel on my natural nail instead of using clear dip as my base. Cant wait for it to come in! I also cant wait to order some of this builder gel. I heard triple D was good so not sure which one
This is such a great video! I basically did the same technique but with full coverage tips and they took so long to come off it put me off of doing it this way! I was wondering if it would be much easier or the same with this dual forms?
I had the same problem. Turns out dual forms are made out of a different kind of plastic (plus it’s thinner) which makes it’s flexible enough to pop off. If you etch the underside of the regular full cover nail then you can just do the lazy girl method (press on extensions that you can fill in).
Is this a hard gel you re using and how much builder gel to you leave on your nails before doing a new set? Love all your videos and I have learned so much from you. So thank you so much for these videos!
Have you tried poly gel in a gelly tip as a form before? I don’t like the extra thickness of a tip but I have them and want to use as a form. I’m afraid the gelly tip will bond with the poly gel.
Not sure if they were gelly tips or just blank press ons, but I have used them as a form, and it worked. Sometimes need a little wiggling to get the tip/ form off.
Is that particular builder gel able to be soaked off easily? Or does it need to be e-filed first and then soaked off.. Great demonstration by the way! Had no clue you could use builder gel with dual forms.
Do you wipe off tacky layer of base coat for better adhesion? I tried this and mine did not cure. However, I wiped off the tacky layer of base coat and im wondering if thats the issue.
You don't want to wipe off the tacky layer if you're putting on more layers. That tacky layer is there to kind of mix with the layer put over it so they cure together and adhere better.
Base coat more important for staying power of the builder gel. Top coat works best for if you'll be using peel base over, however you can use the base coat for this and just wipe off the tacky layer with alcohol after curing.
It definitely is easier. And yes you can! Remember though that this thin layer of builder gel won't have a lot of strength on its own so if you're going to do just polish over the top you can add another layer of BG over the top of the first to strengthen the nail first if you'd like.
@@MelissasManis Thank you! That's what I do and the dip pops off the same day from some nails... wondering if the Top coat is way too smooth, I need to find the golden middle ;)
I've used full tips. if you file the inside where your nail goes, prep, prime and base coat both the nail tip and your finger, then put builder gel or polygel on them they will stay on your nail for around 2 weeks, maybe more, but I usually file them off.
With the peel base under as I did in this trial run it wouldn't last a long time. Once I was happy with the process I redid this without peel base under and I have had this builder gel on for a month, refilling every time I do my nails. I have a video showing my fill process.
