    Just a helpful tip. I have been using builder gels for about 6 years now. When using builder gel over gel already applied, you do not need to put the protein bond on the old gel, just the natural nail every time. Gel adheres to gel.

    Hello Carole my friend, I just wanted to let you know that I am loving the builder gel.. The base and the top gel as well as the protein bond and the builder gel I have done my test and I'm not allergic to any of them. I cannot believe it. It's been like 5 or 6 years and I've been able to use gel products. The triple D. products work very well I'm so happy.

      @@CaroleAnnette I try to keep protein bond on nail surface. On fills I only put protein bond on real nail not builder gel but I saw someone put it on builder gel too. So maybe I should try 2 coats protein bond on the whole nail fill surface, then gel base, builder gel and bake it. If i don't have to do filing I apply peel base. If filing, I sometimes do thin gel base and thin base top before peel base. Hard to keep all this thin before dip..... and i only did 1 coat peel base versus 2. I could try another layer. Dip is harder to remove with just one coat peel base sometimes.

    Hi! Hey what do you think it is about protein bond that makes gel not lift? My whole issue that led to my gel allergy was because I was doing soakable gel nails with led lamp but they kept lifting. So.... I went to a salon and asked for gel nails soak off, so I could see how they did it. Unfortunately, I didn't know a lot about nail manicures then, and I think they didn't use soak off like I asked. They were beautiful though. Anyway, I couldn't get the product off after soaking for an hour...not straight but checking every 15 minutes. After that. my skin and nails were not the same for at least a year. I couldn't peel.friut or even tomatoes without gloves. Its much better now. Every time I tried soak off gel application again I would get itchy bumps around cuticle and sore peeling skin under nail tip. I was fine doing soak off gel process until that happened. I think the salon gave me hard gel nails by mistake...or maybe acrylic. I remember seeing a powder....but acrylicus not that hard to remove.... now (since our dips are acrylic, right?). I probably shouldn't have tried to soak it off at all. If I knew, I would have just gone back. It's been at least 5 years, so I'm hoping I can try successfully gel prices again with no allergy but I will go slow doing each stage one step at a time. I wish I would have known about protein bond. Maybe that was the solution to my lifting problem with soak off gel. I think I have oily nailbeds.

    I have a quick question for you.....I am confused about the “base gel”. Is that the same as a gel base coat? So I can use any gel base coat I have, like Modelones gel base coat or is it different? Is the purpose of the gel base to add like a layer of gel to make the actual builder gel go on easier or smoother over a layer of gel....to kind of be a layer to let the builder gel know where to go....not sure that makes sense. There’s another type of gel that I can’t think of the name of, but people use it because it’s really really sticky and is suppose to help the gel adhere better also. Ugh, I can’t think of the name ....I think it starts with a B. Also, can you use the builder gel without the gel base if you’re using the young nail’s primer, or do you need both? I hope this question makes sense.

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  4 роки тому

      Yes, gel base coat. I wish I knew the answers to the other questions, but I’ve tried without gel base, without primer. And the builder gel wouldn’t stay on my nails.

    • @lilymohsye
      @lilymohsye 4 роки тому +1

      * Is a gel base layer the same as a base gel coat?
      - Essentially yes, they both serve the same purpose: Both are intended to be a thin protective coat over the natural nail that creates a secondary layer of adherence to the next product you’re to apply. Your first layer of adherence to the nail would be the protein bond.
      - A gel base is not intended to build the structure of the nail. It’s not intended to add thickness to the nail. It’s intended to create adhesion to the nail.
      - Many people prefer to apply a layer of builder gel (usually clear or some natural nude or natural pink) after the base gel to serve as a safe layer to file back to for polish changes and for filling of the enhancement upon regrowth. This multi-layer would always be left on the nail and would protect from filing of the natural nail when using an e-file.
      * Can you use any gel base coat?
      - Yes and no :) I’ll explain. Products from the same line are meant to work with each other. When you introduce a product from a different line, you may introduce problems like lifting, incompatibility, allergies or product breakdown. But you can argue that the majority of people don’t use the same line or brand when it comes to every product in skin care or make-up, for instance. In all honesty, you probably won’t have any issue using what base gel you already own. I think nail product breakdown more so applies to using an acrylic powder from one brand and a monomer from another. For gel? Meh, you should be alright.
      * Is the purpose of the gel base to add a layer of gel to make the actual builder gel go on easier or more smooth over a layer of gel... to be a kind of layer that lets gel know where to go... not sure if that makes sense?
      - What you are referencing to here is what is known as a “slip” layer. It’s a very intelligent way of doing gel nails! Good on you for knowing about it! Here’s how it works:
      Prep the nail, bonder, base gel, cure.
      Apply a thin layer of builder gel, DO NOT cure. Load your gel brush with a large pearl of gel, apply it to the nail staying a bit away from the cuticle and sidewalls of the nail. Your nail should be pointed downward so that gravity will assist you as you start from the near cuticle of the nail, you apply the gel and float the brush on the very surface of the gel and sway side to side concentrating the product in the center of the nail as you make your way down to the free edge of the nail. This is how you build an apex, the structure of the nail with gel. This only works if the previous thin layer of gel is left uncured.
      - Nothing comes to mind in reference to the other type of gel beginning with a “B.” The other types of gel include builder gels in pots, builder gel in tubes, poly-gel, builder in a bottle, I can’t immediately recall any other types. There are also different viscosities of gel.
      * Can you use builder gel without the gel base as long as you’re using Young Nail’s primer?
      - Yes, I have done it plenty of times, though, I’m sure if you asked the manufacturer, they’d say no ;) hehehehe.
      By the way, I am not a nail tech, just a nail enthusiast. I have been doing my own gel nails for 10+ years. Best of luck to you! GREAT questions 👍🏻

    Going to sleep on these and if still good try peel base then dip. Going to look for video with tips to apply peel base on top of builder gel again. I didn't see anything last time I searched. If you have any helpful hints please let me know. Thanks for your support. I like how this feels on my nails.
    Do you take showers and wash dishes ok with this builder gel?

      I’m so happy to hear you’re not allergic!!
      And yes, I can shower and do dishes with absolutely no issues. No hints here for the peel base other than apply a thin layer of gel top coat before doing your peel base. It makes it soo easy to remove and the peel base dries faster!
      *im releasing a video soon on builder gel/dip and peel base

      @@CaroleAnnette oh wow....a layer of gel top cost on top of builder gel before peel base...i like that. That would be a separate test for me because I learned some people react more to gel top coat than base....so I'll try that next. How long do you leave your nails on before you pop them off with this method?

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  4 роки тому +1

      Usually 7 days. But sometimes they pop off sooner.

    They look great! Also if you have wiped the sticky layer off and you see you need to add more, I just buff a little to give it something to stick to again. I always have to add more 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

    I have always dipped over a gel overlay. I find it protects my nails so well and I can use my peel off base coat with no problem and no chipping of the nail

    Hi, remember how you had issues with base coats used with the peel base? Others have problems using regular clear polish under peel. Not sure if that was you too. So you didn't have any sensitivities to this process yet I take it? You know how after doing lots of dipping it seems the consensus is thst nails get thin and brittle. Do you feel any heat sensitivity with uv due to dip process ?

    • @kofoedsandy
      @kofoedsandy 4 роки тому

      Or maybe the builder gel helps protect/prevent heat sensitivity since it is thick?

    • @CaroleAnnette

      I didn’t have any issues or sensitivity at all with this process. I totally love this over clear dip. The clear dip lifts too easily on me. And I feel no issues at all. I don’t have to soak off the builder gel. I just fill it in when my nails grow out. I’ll keep you updated when I have bare natural nails again.

      @@CaroleAnnette while I love using clear dip with peel base, I have the same lifting issue even after just 4 days. I will probably try this new process on one finger. I don't know if you recall, I had a reaction to something in the gel process. Not sure if its something in liquid or uv
      It's a long story. So far I'm doing fine with whole dip process and wearing tips thanks to your help. I'm a little afraid but I want to try this next I think.

      @@CaroleAnnette So, my nails grew enough at this point to have undamaged nail on my nail plate... and greenies grew out. I really did a number to myself. So... I tried protein bond and let it dry on my pinky. Then, I added a thin coat of gel base and baked in led for 30 seconds. The protein bond has hema. The base doesn't but it has another chemical others have been allergic to.. I was careful to swipe the wet layer (after led lamp) off without touching skin. So far no itching...its only been an hour. Should be interesting since I probably should have tested protein bond separate from.gel base. If nothing by tomorrow maybe I'll try my next nail. Then I try builder gel...
      Finally! So excited. Hope I'm not allergic.

    It’s good to leave a lil gel on your brush (in my opinion) helps keep its shape😉💅🏼🙌🏻

    Hello! Do you know if I can cure builder gel with my led lamp ❤️

    • @CaroleAnnette
      @CaroleAnnette  4 роки тому

      It depends on the wattage of your lamp. What wattage do you have?

      Having a high enough wattage is very important. Mine is 36w

    I was using polygel before I started dipping and I have builder gel but I'm so scared to try it. Polygel is literally impossible to get off and I'm not a fan. You use peel base every time so I understand why you would want this a base. I just got peel base, it's on its way and I do wear tips, so maybe I'll have to try this.
    And technical term is bead 🤣👌🏻

      Btw I have builder gel in a bottle so it's like using a gel top coat but thicker. I could imagine it'd be easier than the pot.

    Do you have to file the gel a bit before putting gel polish or no?
