A suggestion of a spinoff: Why everyone SHOULD play (CHAMPION). Explaining why some underrated champions deserve a chance to be on a pick pool.

I think he does explain a portion of that with his Why Noone Plays. In certain videos like the one for Taliyah, he specifies all the strong aspects of her throughout the video, which I can validate because I main her. But I think some things can still be said about certain characters...

I think Viego is fine and his concept and realisation is genius, as everything, what August ever done in Riot. Would like to main him, cause all of my mains for now are champs, that plays same from name to game and I am tired. But meh, Viego is not for me with his default abilities and he is jungler, pitty
"He's easy to grasp but hard to master" is definitely going to be one of the reasons

@Keshuel Here's the thing: If you play Viego and completely master every single champion's kit, then you can effectively play at 500% efficiency, utilizing every single champions kit to the absolute fullest. Playing Viego and you possess an Azir? Why, the Viego who mastered Azir just got a pentakill! While the one who didn't is simply spamming R and only getting a double kill.
The truth is tho, that he is easy to grasp and not hard to master, in addition he is turbo broken and poorly designed.

@@why1543 It was the same deal when AP Tryndamere was a thing, if you went against him, you lose, period.
He hits you with all his free stats, if he's winning he chases you with spin and kills you, if he's losing he spins away and heals back to full.
Riot has lost their design principles over the years, they used to talk a lot about hidden power, now they release crap like Akshan that has a million things going in the background while in game you are just right clicking people.
@@somerandom2858 the worst part about viego is the invulnerability while he posesses someone, I was a fed adc earlier but I couldn't kill him even while attacking constantly because every time a teammate dies my attacks dissapear and I can't retarget him until it ends.

Ive been playing him consistently since he was released and I have about 115k points on him and I can agree that needing knowledge of every champ's abilities is something that made me want to play him. If you can play everyone average, you can play viego well, and when you get your main possessed, it's extra fun

Viego would be fine... except he embodies the feast or famine playstyle to the max. Not only is the enemy viego much better than the viego on your team, he also plays your own Champs better than you.

What I loved was I never could’ve find a main, I was good at almost every champ in the game (as far as the ones I played) but I never settled down on one, but when Viego came out I loved that he allowed me to essentially play any champ I wanted and show off my versatile skills on different champs which is super fun

Same here, i was going around playing literally everything because i got bored of each champ so fast, so i never went above 35 games with a single champ. But then i played viego and for the first time ever i actually played 50 games where 80% was with the same champ. Hes also just the right mix of expressive and easy, not to mention all the times i could cheese someone in toplane before he became popular as a laner. Good times haha

When somebody says Ruined King I would imagine ''Raid boss''' type of champion and not hot e-boy Assassin champion.
I think everyone expected the Ruined King to be a WoW Lich King/Diablo Skeleton King type, I was very surprised with what we ended up getting. I think it's cool, personally. He's a very different kind of villain.

I expected champion like Arthas joining League (Lich King and Ruined King are VERY similiar) and I was really hyped about it ,but then my hype immediately died after I saw him.
@@Yesnomu and it's that subversion of expectation that people really didn't like. As a standalone champion design, I doubt anyone would care, but as the ruined king, the big bad of the entire world, they missed the mark.
@@aaronscott7467 I think it honestly fits better anyway. If people want that WoW lich king type of character, Mordekaiser is already here, and he fits the aesthetic way better anyway. At that point you're just making the same champion thematically and that is stale.

So we've known about him being an important character in the lore since the game existed, yet nothing no where did they ever say what he looked like. You can't sit here and blame Riot for not making the character you wanted, especially when they never gave you any promises. It's not their fault you had a completely different idea of what the character was going to be like.
And I'm not just sucking Riot's dick here. I'm a writer myself and I'd hate if a bunch of people came out saying the same about some character I was writing.

I honestly picked him up and forced myself to learn him because hes The Ruined King. That alone made me feel powerful, and now because of the event i feel bad about what they did to him (and all other champs who were featured, but thats not the point).

Here is what I've noticed: Ever since Kayn, the core reason a champion is 200 years, is adaptability. Their kits let them adapt far better to any team, and Viego exemplifies this.
Just want riot to remove the invulnerability when he transforms into another champ.

I love playing Viego because not only is he fun, but he is a band aid fix to my indecisiveness and inability to have a small champion pool

One thing I like about Viego is, he can actually be fun to play against too.
It really adds some spice to the game, when you have to play around your own teammates, except they're trying to kill you.

@@egor6946 I still play him in lane, you have to play him differently from what he used to though, I don't go for aggressive runes, I go with Doran Shield and Second Wind etc, it really allows you to power through the early game and gets you to your vamp scepter and life is good. Just have to be patient early, can't just trade over and over and regen like he used to

They should make Viego deal the killing blow in order for him to get the soul and all the 200 years bs that comes from it. It's not an incredibly difficult task given his ult is an execution. Giving him free heals and untargetability just for the lulz is bonkers. That way players would actually have to think and save their ults instead of diving head first waiting for their teammates to finish the job. If they want to close the gap with ult, then it's gonna be a little harder to deal the killing blow because someone on your team might accidentally kill the enemy. It feels more interactive that way imo. Right now it's a total mess.

It’s because he’s one of the most 1v9 characters in the game while also being relatively easy to play.
Nah. Not really 1v9. He doesn't have enough AOE or defense. If his team is ass he'll fall off and show cracks
@@redrumssam5888 he can literally become invulnerable , if timed well just oneshot some poor guy and become invulnerable then respawn and just press r to kill the next. This champ is horrific
@@theimmortaleye7511 he has to get a body first. He will only be invulnerable under the one condition that he gets a body. He NEEDS a team to front to back teamfight, he can't do things like even a Darius or Kassadin or Yi who can run away with a game. First, he can't initiate a teamfight or he'll be blown up so someone else has to do that, and if his team and him can do enough damage(which he doesn't do a lot of because single target champion) and he can get a body ONLY THEN will he pop off even if he's behind. However I don't trust my team which is why I myself stopped playing him as much.

@@theimmortaleye7511 you clearly aren't understanding what I'm saying. First of all viego, this predominantly SINGLE TARGET CHAMPION has to be a part of that take down. If his team IS NOT DOING WELL to help secure that take down, he DOESN'T GET A BODY and proceeds to be useless. He NEEDS HIS TEAM TO BE GOOD HE CAN NOT SOLO CARRY BY HIMSELF. He's not Yone or Darius or Master Yi or other stat sticks who can just ram through the enemy team even if their team isn't doing too well. His solo carry potential is EXTREMELY limited.
I played a lot of viego when I didn't know who to play. And honestly viego is the perfect guy for that scenario. If you don't know what champion to play? Play viego, and the enemy picks the champions for you to play as
I bet his kit is fun but riot made him so freaking ugly I don’t think I’ll ever play him willingly. Everything from his walk to his expressions to his personality..just ugly
I like why everyone does/doesn't play as a new player it helps learn characters and what characters to try.
After the nerfs he became one of the only balanced champs in the game lol, he's really really squishy and you have to pick the right champions to transform, and his early game is complete dogcrap, you invade him and there's no game
If you become the 0/54 caitlyn with 6 rejuvenation beads you'll just be exploded
I play league since seasson 2 and for all those years the only champs i wish where never released are : Kayn, Yuumi and viego in no particular order. I just feel these champions make the game worst without adding much in return

I would go all the way back to Ezreal since he kickstarted the mobility creep in the game.
Now released champions have to have dashes and move speed and wall jumps just to stay relevant.

I’m a grandmasters viego main mid, I’ve stuck with him even when they shifted him to jungle .3% pick rate mid now, he had a lot of difficult lanes but that’s kinda what’s so fun about him! I’m learning new stuff a lot of games perfecting my mechanics and have to try really hard macro wise since Viegos laning generally is bad

Maybe I'm bias but, I always thought the steal your champ mechanic should've gone to a dark support, especially since they can make the base kit weak as a dual lane

Better, make him an adc. They already want him to work with bork, bork is a DPS item. Put it on a class intended to do DPS. You could use the exact same passive and reset mechanic on ult, just make him ranged, remove the double-hit part of his q, and give him a different w
@@aaronscott7467 that..... literally makes no sense, his whole thing is the giant BLADE of the ruined king, the massive zweihander he uses..... then like YOU pointed out they want people to build that BLADE by giving synergy.... how would that make sense as an adc thematically? or even at all really? lol
I wish he was *actually* high risk high reward but these days he just builds bruiser items which removes half the risk in playing him; that being how he's supposedly a squishy assassin but as we can see he doesn't really live up to that. All he has to do is do enough damage with an ally or two to get one reset and the fight is pretty much over.
Once you are done with champions, you can do "why everybody plays X build on Y champ" or "why everyone builds Z item". or the negatives, say "why nobody builds U" where U is un unpopular item / build.

Edit: He can't be nerfed, like you said his weakness will always be nullified by his passive. Regardless of any nerfs will find every way to remove any weakness as his kit is just that overloaded in terms of scaling, effects and conditions.
Well, they could remove his second passive, since he retains that upon being someone else
A good nerf will be first to his damage and second giving him either a cooldown on his passive or giving him some kind of "fury" or anger meter like shyvana and tryndamere since he doesn't use mana OR energy. There are ways to nerf him, yes he'll always be overloaded but not broken
T1 Oner's Viego vs 4 members of G2 demonstrates the crazy and overloaded potential that Viego really has. He pretty much solo killed 3 of their members through resetting with their non-ultimate abilities and forced their top lane to flash away.

What I hate the most about viego is how a mediocre one can just use the souls he posses as a heal and ult reset mechanic, yes he loses a ton of power but even doing so he is a good champion. I really dislike him but I agree he is fun to play, ever since he got released I called him "Katarina with more steps but really safe" and I think it still holds on to that.

I’m honestly curious as to why everyone plays graves, his kit doesn’t feel that special or like “complicated” like Viego. He certainly feels like a simple champion, like he doesn’t have the empowered mechanic of kha zix or the execute and taking over bodies of viego, he seems to be a champion that is just pure damage and maybe that’s why ?
he is a marksman who has 1000 armor from his e he kills you with 1 shot but you can't do the same
because he can literally 1 shot champs with his auto attack with a few items, have you never played him? mess around on him next time he comes up on free rotation in a custom game or something, it's INSANE you can solo baron way before 20mins with a little bit of life steal lol and if you can hit people with all the bullets with a decent amount of crit& AD(esp if you've got lethality/armor pen) it's like a guarenteed 1 shot.
oh yeah like mart said forgot he gets massive armor buffs with his almost 0 cooldown dash at max lvl with a little ability haste
His 3 basic ability, are a little underwelming, bad mobility, a wall bush, and a double attack.
Just wondering if you could further evaluate the comment about jungle game knowledge. I understand then circumventing laning means match-up knowledge isn't as outright visable but I believe that early game knowledge on a macro level is way more important on jungles then laners in my opinion. Would love to hear your take and thoughts either in a video about game knowledge or just a response :)

I'm new to league, and I love playing viego because it also lets me try out other champs in the same game
I think a good way to fix his 200 years while also keeping his identity is to force him to be that champion when he possesses for a period of time, let's say 4 seconds
That way, he cannot just use vessels for heals since he'd be stuck for some time, so he has to utilise all the tools in that champs kit before he could jump out and continue
But he is forced to, he has a while to ult after transforming
@@LomboLombinho I think he means the lockout should be longer. Basically forcing him to choose the right target for the right moment or completely int.
It's a good idea. Right now picking a soul is never bad really, but by forcing him to stay longer, picking a bad possession could instathrow a fight.

I don’t agree that junglers have the worst game knowledge. I believe it’s the other way around. Playing a laning role only makes you focus on farming and lane management, whereas junglers have to know when to take objectives effectively, and on top of that know where to go and when. It definitely requires a lot of knowledge of how the game works to manage all this seamlessly. And I’m even saying this as a top laner , who is least appreciative of their junglers 😅
I actually think Viego is a farely balanced champion. He balances the game, where, if you play an op champion, he can turn that against you. And he also has disadvantages, like you said, he is terrible at defense. Playing with Viego is a lot of fun, but playing against him isnt that bad either. You can outplay him if you engage first.

I like to play Viego because I've got 9500 games of ARAM played and I'm not afraid to use it.
Damn, I can remember the videos on his release "Highest Skill Cap in the Game" etc. I was flamed and personally attacked to death when I picked him up but lemme tell you, release Viego, I never had such a high WR in my life. I was one of the first to reach lvl 7 on him as well
maybe riot could up the min damage cap to his ult, like you need to land more dmg to claim souls. 65 dmg lvl 1 and late game it can scale up to like 150-200 dmg these numbers are small and easy to achieve but would stop him from getting 2 dmg and snowballing for free
it´s simple he is easy to play and overpowered if they nerfed him like no invis and heal after consuming a soul he would have a lot less pickrate, pickrate ist about power. Ahri is popular as hell but her pickrate is trash because her powerlevel is aswell now with the changes it will go up, but ahri is no where near viego powerlevel
I like the series. It clarifies why the champion are fun to play, but how broken it is. Does fun need to mean overpower always? I hope Riot tries to find a good balance.
Not always, when I play Udyr I get a fucking Riot out of hit and runs with bear stance
he is fine as he is, theres an incredible long list of champs that counters him, also with the meta focusingg more on tanks is getting more difficult to get the pasive going if you are behind because is more likely that you will be dead before them
bro...him being untargetable for 50% of a team fight and unstopable the other 25%(with massive healing) is fair an balanced?
@@Waxotoo actually he is, he cant do anything while untargetable, and more often than not you can time his transformation to get him ungarded, his winrate says everything, just le ARN to play against him
I swear I'm getting fizz flashbacks where the people complaining about a "broken champ" legit just don't know how to play against them. Viego is so insanely situational and his untargetability makes it super obvious where he'll be once it's over. As long as you don't ignore him and let him do what he wants he's pretty managable which is the case with over half the champions in the game.

I think his concept is better than the execution. The ability to transform into other champions is cool but giving him untargetability in-between transformation is very obnoxious to deal with in teamfights.
What I would have done instead is to give him a channel, but not the untargetability. That way chances are he isn't getting a reset in a teamfight. What he gets in return is keeping his possession for much longer.
Say you gank top to kill a Camille, then use Camille's kit to gank mid right after. Maybe you kill the enemy Rek'sai (yeah, killing Rek'sai early game is unlikely at best, but its just an example) and then pulls a gank or two with Rek'sai's kit. That way he feels more like an actual jungler that focus on playmaking and less like a "ungabunga me reset me pentakill" 200 years bs.
@Keshuel Not quite. He can still get transformations from pickoffs. Worse than present day Viego at this particular point in the game? Absolutely, but that's the point. The ammount of plays he can make early make up for it.

Viego is the exact opossite of Yi (for example). Yi has Q and W to get him self a kill first so he can reset after and it all over. Kata is the same her base kit is really good for killing people. Viego is different. He has low mobility compaired to champs like him and has no means other than his R to dodge CC. His only CC is really slow to cast and predictable.
Viego's whole idea is he need one enemy to die in order to take over. If he gets focused down (somethis far easyer to do than focusing down a Yi or Kata that can become untargetable or blink all over) he then becomes very simple to counter

By hitting 2 autos after W, u "lose cooldown" on Q. By doing just 1 auto after W, You guarantee your Q land from stun, and get the Q cooldown to start faster.
After trying out a few champions on my way to ranked, its a little disheartening to see how good this champ really is when I cant use him as effectively as he can be. User error aside, Viego's just a neat jungler to pilot, its a shame hes so overtuned that even lower skill players can be expected to pop off with him

I really like Viego, but not for his possession mechanic, I just think his base kit is really fun. The double-auto mechanic feels great. His ult is also cool, and the reset is satisfying, but you could give him like Wukong's passive and ult and I'd still play him
I feel like Viego would still be viable even if he didn't get the enemy abilities and items on takedown. Still getting untargetability and heal on takedown and ulti reset

I dont know how Riot did it. He has fun character and a cool zweihander and yet. he always feels abysmal to play as. keep his visual and story and completely rework his kit.
Funny enough viego, leblonc and sona 2.0 are the only champs i dont play. The first two, i domt really like thier kits, and sona 2.0....well thats self evident.
Viego is better old Aatrox - change my mind.
R is old Q, dash and aoe dmg.
Q is old W, but faster
Passive is old E (wo toggle).
Possession is much a better revive.
If we're following along that's QWE passive and all we are missing is the self buff from R which ... *Ahem* (possession, full cd reset, and a heal)... is miles better than any self buff.
VARSSSS i BEG you, do a video on how ARAM could be reworked, I love aram but I think that it is repetitive and could make use of maybe an objective, or alcoves or SOMETHING to make the gameplay a little bit less repetitive
I find his concept super cool, but his kit is just absolutely ridiculously overloaded with stuff. His Q, W, and E abilities are rather unique and don't really need any changing imo, but his ult should 100% not be an auto-targeted percent-missing-health ability that knocks people away, that's just too much, remove one of those things, and I think it'd be fine. As for his passive, the reset on his ult sort of needs to go away, at least large parts of it. I wouldn't mind if they gave him an "optional" ult that's the same, but doesn't do damage or CC, sort of just a teleport ability as a gapcloser, or something similar to that.
As frustrating as "LE 200 YEARS XDDD" champs can seem they're always more interesting than old champs to play as or against.
this is why i play viego. i play all champs when i play a moba. so i play viego i play everyone :) you cant get bored every match is something diffrent. the problem is viego can get tanky and still he can put decent damage. he has max hp attacks. you can go a damage focused tank item and ruined king item. and go full tank. maybe they can nerf the hp you get when transforming. or make him damagable when transforming but make the transform timer short
IMO, why everyone plays isn't a bad series but isn't a good one either. I guess it might just be badly titled. Basically, everyone plays them cause they strong but it's more like why is X strong than why they are played I guess...

Low winrate champs should reward you more MMR and vice versa also lose less. I mean MMR not LP, we all know LP doesn't mean a thing. That would make people care more about balancing at the same time people would not feel that bad when riot decides to Doriotstuff
How are u gonna say jungle mains have the worst game knowledge when u have to keep up with your team's champs and know who needs a gank then, as well as having to know the enemy champs to know whos weak when and when u can gank that set champ, while ON TOP of all that have to deal with the enemy jungler? Jungle is literally one of the most annoying and difficult roles to play, especially when everyone excepts u to carry their game for them. Its why i hate playing jungle, but i can respect a good jungler, saying that all jungle mains have the worst game knowledge is just the stupidest shit I've heard
I played too much ARAM, so when he came out it was like a glove, felt so nice. Just wished his character model wasn't the typical no shirt anime f*ck boi, and that would solve everything for me.
no wonder i was confused as F*ck when i played against him. Havent really played LoL in 3 years and some of the "new" champions are just insanly confusing.

me playing yuumi, my adc was once about to die, me jump out and bringing him to kill me first, viego turns into yuumi 1v1 vs a half life lucian, pressed once q and died, hech. I guess it was worth it, sinse he was ahead
I hate Viego not because he is overpowered or because of how oppresive it feels to play against him. I hate him because he has the coolest ability concept in his passive but he's not build around it. 90% of the time the most impact his passive has is healing him and reseting his ult since just gap closing with ult and hitting the enemy as Viego will result in much more mileage than actually playing the other champs. I fucking love the concept of stealing enemies abilities/ults/stats/whatever and beating them to death with it but Viego feels like he has that just so League would have a champ who can do that, not 'cus it completes his kit or fits his in-game theme. Maybe I'm just salty that I can't seem to find a main and play almost every character and Viego would solve that, but everytime I see a Viego I feel dissapointed at what he could've been.
Next series: Why SOME PEOPLE PLAY. Honestly it would be hilarious and novel.
Nerf him and nerf Sylas, both of them heal too much.
Also remove Veigos Stun, he shouldn't have one, just replace it with a 99% slow.
