nothing beats seeing this jungle-yuumi flank my squishies at a million movement speed, miss W and still 100 to 0 kill with Q+auto, getting duskblade untargetable before disappearing in the walls again and healing from that for some reason. and none of that even adresses his ultimate that answers the question "hey everyone hates master yi Q, can we make that again but on steroids?"

Now its a rhaast assasin with dusk blade because of its passive he has another safe guard you already cant hit him in r so he could kill the back line then w is probably off cool down cc anyone else and shred them
@@thefearturkey6944Despite being nerfed, building Shojin 2nd or 3rd is so strong on Kayn just because his cool downs become less than 3-4 seconds making him way more slippery regardless of forms.

@@Martin-yh7vi well shojin is just a good kayn item high damage decent health and ability haste. Blue kayn likes to use w to poke and red gets more cool downs so he can sustain way more.
Shojin is mostly a third item with rhaast getting black cleaver second of blue kayn going axiom arc.
Blue doesnt need shojin as your cool downs are already nuts but it provides more durability with everything you want
You forgot to mention his W having a 90% decaying slow, and Rhaast still has that slow on top off the knock-up 😂🤦♂️

The magic damage of blue Kayn is post mitigation, meaning armour already mitigates it once.

Kayn is powerful, broken sometimes, but I never hated going against him, I never wanted to dodge or sighed when one was on the enemy team
People cry too much about Kayn, mostly people who often plays vs fed blue Kayn, feeds and disrespects his snowball potential then cry like usual why 20+ kills assassin oneshots
Even in Gold, Kayn is my permaban. Not because the champions I play can’t deal with him, (quite the contrary, I can deal with him quite well,) but because I don’t trust my allies to not constantly overextend and hand him free kills, or at the very least free souls.

i usually ban kayn cause gold elo kayns would look at the enemy team that consists of Blitzcrank ,Darius, yasuo, sejuani, and MF and choose a blue kayn load out and wonder why they're not doing damage to the enemy team outside of the MF.
Yup, blows my mind how many people stand next to a wall overextended in lane phase completely oblivious that there is a kayn on the enemy team
@@omfg322 Seriously, too many times ive watched a lukewarm Kayn, or Kata player get zoned, and out rotated into doing nothing for 15 minutes only to spiral out of control after somebody hard over extends
For some reason, after I take a couple months off League (which I do from time to time for my mental) Kayn is always the champion to bring me back. I don't even like jungle, but I just get this itch to play Kayn. Thanks for finally articulating why for me

The trick to beating kayn imo is either goin a hypercarry that beats him early and outscales him late (bel, yi, etc) or goin someone that will give him the opposite orbs that he'd want for ur team (ie. U have a tanky team so u go kindred or graves so he gets blue)
but it just delays his form by 3 minutes
and thats if he DOESNT get any more orbs which he might
@@celeste4034 i mean its jg not lane. No counters are true counters. You still have to out jungle him. The 3 extra mins on someone your already beating is a nail in the coffin. Keep in mind, thats 3 extra mins he still has slower clears, worse ganks, and worse objective contestability
Tho it also helps that going champs that are the opposite to the form he wants often have a better time killin the form he ends up goin based on ur team as a whole
@@celeste40343 minutes is a long time especially if your invading kayn is way weaker than graves or kindred early game. So lets those are also bad matchups for kayn lets assume kayn falls behind and gets killed so not only is he behind maybe can get the correct form at 12 minutes into the match by then hes missed so much even with purple his team most likely needs a better front line or assasin
as someone that mains kayn let me tell u the easiest way to counter kayn - just do nothing. like idk am in gold elo but even there my enemies often realise this. just play safe, don't push your lane, just last hit, don't engage. it really is that simple.
there'd be times where I look at every lane - and literally nothing is happening, every enemy is hugging their turret. I guess I could try look for enemy jg and force something but even then, nothing's stopping the enemy jg from simply leaving and reappearing on some of my laners where they gank, while I am ... well idk either taking his jg camps or my own again or I just went B because nothing was happening. the longer you can play passive the further back you set kayn.
So there is no trick... it's just play 2x better to even and then some more. (OOOR pick other broken jungler like belveth/ Lillia)
Do you plan to do a video covering mythics, their history, and why they are being ultimately removed from the game?
Kayn is just a safe pick, because if let's say you want to play a more standard jg, that just happens to get banned, go Kayn if nothing else comes into mind. Then when the game starts, you can just try to look what your team needs and do just that
Its a testement to Vars' skill that I watch his videos despite having quit League years ago and any attempt to return results in unyielding rage
I'm not gonna lie, I can't bring myself to hate Kayn because he's just really fun to play.
R at 10% hp, then popping out with a 3+ person W into a double Q and being full HP again. Nothing more satisfying

@Underworlder5 it was a bilgewater themed reskin of aram during pykes release with a pyke announcer, bilgewater music, and a few unique items
There also used to be a mode called poro king, which worked like aram, but everyone had snowball that would be used to summon a giant poro that helped your team, and you could feed it buffs
When I played League I looooved Kayn. You nailed it when you said Kayn’s freedom is a big reason he’s so popular. Speeding through the jungle in a straight fucking line will always be hilarious to me. I am also a fan of Robbie, his voice actor!
I remember trying league for the first time and playing Ahri, not long after that, Kayn was on rotation and I decided to try him out, I immediately knew jg was the role for me, heck I immediately knew league was for me.
Been following Vars for years now, needless to say I watched this whole video with a smile on my face. Now if only riot gave me more kayn skins.

Well that explains one game my friends and I had. Where we were winning, and then about the 16-18 minute mark enemy team was making a strong comeback with Cho'gath and Kayn duoing every lane until one of the other got to kill and then moving to the next lane

Kayn's been in the game for 6 years already and he remains my first choice to ban throught all this time. It's so obnoxious to play against, knowing he can approach you from literally any angle.
I mastery 5 him in one week when he lauched but he was so weak early on, that i had the same feeling as that of kayle, that you are not a champion until trabsforming, kayle's range used to be 11 and kayn in 13 was a good game where i focused on ganking
I've picked him back recently and oh boy are the buffs are noticiable, you are indeed a champ before transforming, the transformation just accentuates how much of a champion you are
Yesterday I jsut began palying Kayn after a long while of playing extreme offmeta to take a break. I play kayn in mid now and always go blue form, its crazy how good he is at roaming and how fast he clears waves

You forgot to mention his Passive on shadow assasin resets when after ulting. So you can kill 2 squishies with it :D
As a formor league player and most role player i had rank 7 kayn along other junglers, he was just too good.
I won my first clash tournament years ago using him in 2 out of 3 games. So i agree wholeheartedly

I have always felt like kayn has it great in nearly every area, even down to champion select since he's very easy to blind pick with (how you do counter pick kayn?). I don't' feel kayn has one "omg so broken" ability but all his abilitys are high value and consistent.
Play a high priority strong early game jungler, that's the counter. There's nothing Kayn can do to the likes of Kha or Graves if they invade.
I REALLY hated him when dusk blade empowered your auto attacks
he would run at you with the E and ghost blade movement speed, if he at least touchs you with that auto with a duskblade proc which both are counted towards his passive, he can miss both W and Q but autos you one more time then ult to refresh his passive+ refresh duskblade + proc electrocute, the dumb part is that all of those are point and click, so the whole 2 skill shots that you are worrying about dodging ... yeah they dont matter, AA+ult+AA = 100 to 0

Idk, I bullied so much Kayn with my Poppy jungle that I don't feel like its a strong champion tbh. I surely give them some free stacks, but they end up so behind, that I either one shot them myself if they go blue or my team one shots them if they choose red. And even if they are somehow fed because my team fed him, I will still prevent him to do anything just by existing and pressing E and W. So yeah, I am kinda happy when I am against a Kayn. Some players even pick him after I picked Poppy, which makes me always happy
as someone who played kayn since release, seeing him grow into an absolute menace was so infuriating because you basically get your powerspike for free
you could get orbs in your sleep and get form by 8 minutes, while way before it was amazing to get form at 12 min
but no, everytime they buff him they give him like 50% more power until the fucking item rework broke the dam and now he's this monster that virtually can't be shut down

My main problem with red kayn is his scaling, that guy can have like 300ad which is alright whatever, but that 300 ad translates to a TON of % MAX hp damage on his abilities which in turns means he heals for a gorillon.

@@captcha0 i wrote that comment 3months ago. There's a druttut video of him playing kayn top around 5months ago from now on where he reaches 52% max health dmg on his r with 3-4 items. Im pretty sure this was after nerfs, because i used to reach 64% max health dmg before this on R with give or take the same amount of its, his Q was able to reach 20-30% max health x2.
This is on red kayn, blue had insane numbers too but they were not as crazy. Blue was at some point even more broken but not cuz numbers, it was items i believe.
I'd like to see the pre mythic item ravenous hydra again. That shit worked ridiculously well with kayn

As a kayn main there's a lot of truth to this video couple things I'd point out though.
1. You can reasonably assume which form kayn is going based off runes so he's not like this "i dont know what form hes going to go im counterpicking myself" I thought that was kind of overblown
2. His early form aside from his clearspeed is pretty weak you lose to just about everything and his ganks while unpredictable are a lot weaker than you made it seem he has trouble sticking to targets and dealing consistent damage in his base form so he's basically a glorified vulture in the earlygame.
3. I think red kayn especially in todays game is soooo much weaker than you're making him out to be. I recently started playing jarvan and I was shocked that jarvans base kit is basically just red kayn but without the weak earlygame. And he got nerfed too! so like yeah its powerful but relative to jarvan its honestly almost never worth picking red form because you're waiting till lvl 8 to become a jarvan that heals off damage like eh.
Overall though, banger video I love that blue kayn has put the fear of god into many players lmao.

He is very very easy to execute with, you have to genuinely try to miss his Q and W's in a fight.
But the biggest issue with him at the moment purely stems from itemization. Build bruiser on blue, have 500 ad, 4000 hp, 100 ability haste, and able to carve through tanks and squishies alike. Build lethality on red, you are still tanky af, and your Q still does about 80% of a squishy's max hp on hitting both instances.
At this point its not a matter of 'do you want assassin or bruiser'; you are a bruiser, and your choice is 'healing or mobility' since the same builds can work with both and kill all targets just as effectively.
Duskblade changes pushed Kayn over the edge. He is now my permaban. I recently went 18/5 but lost game to blue Kayn who kept one shotting my idiot team mates through walls. One thing you missed: Kayn can proc his ult from Smite alone. He doesn't have to hit anything before that.
duskblade passive is absolutely stupid. how did untargetability on kill for potentially any champion ever get past the writing board? this seems more like something you would expect from a PVE gamemode
@@Underworlder5You know whats dumber? It was originally just untargetability. You could still hit them with AOE and non targeted CC. They then either just made it full invulnerablity or tried thr firet idea and converted it to full invulnerability.
Kayn is the champion that i had a genuine connection with ever since he came out. Bro got me from bronze all the way up to diamond. When you find that champ you love. The game completely changes
the guy dominates my low elo matches too lol, teammates don’t watch where minimap at all so his free ganks are even freer. Him and Shaco are always my bans
Kayn is fun as hell to play. I don't really jungle much but if I do I either Kayn, Amumu, or Maokai
imo kayn was the moment champion design went wrong. to me the line between old school design philosophy and 200 years is a line of pre kayn and post kayn.
I mean it's universally agreed as yasuo by literally everyone else
@@Qatch1140for me the point is that there were plenty of great unique champions with clear strength and weaknesses released after yasuo. kayn on the other hand lead us down a path we would never recover from.
@@bigsmoke4592 tbf I enjoy some newer ones like seraphine and sett, who have clear strengths and weaknesses. Though granted both have game ending abilities late game
@@Qatch1140 Yasuo was a shift in philosophy but not 200 years because he has clear borders in what he can and can't do. Kayn is too flexible in terms of identity and it is basically dictated by the general meta of the game.

Full lethality Red Kayn is super fun and broken
I love kayn, but I'll be honest, red kayn is very undertuned right now, he is supposed to be the anti tank version of kayn but I feel that he doesn't do that much damage to tanks, they gutted his healing, going from 30% to 20-25% and percent health damage which I don't remember the specifics, his ult now has reduced healing and damage which means that even if you ult a tank with a lot of hp you won't restore back to full, red kayn is all about team fighting and choosing the right target to ult to essentially get a second health bar with the healing you have to get back to fighting instantly, but right now you'll ult and maybe recover half of your hp. Red kayn is so mid right now to the point where I started trying out viego, first timing btw and I was legit surprised how I was in auto piloting most of the game and still performing pretty well
Blue kayn in at a pretty good spot right now, he can change the flow of the game, but if you don't know how to position you won't do anything, I lost a game because I didn't respect the enemy qiyana and literally died 4 times in a row as soon as I stepped out of base, but I've won many games because I've avoided fights unless I know I can get in and get out without dying
Red kayn however literally feels useless right now to the point where if you're not ahead from the start you'll probably stay behind, additionally, at least the kayn content creators I see, most of them use blue form because it's just better right now

Kayn really isn’t all that hard to counter. He only scales well if he snowballs so the easiest way to counter him is just perma invade. He can’t play the game from behind.
Also just be aware of your surroundings. Look for the little glowing orb on the wall and simply walk away from it. Pre form he doesn’t have that much chase potential if he doesn’t get the jump on you.

And we didn't even talk about the fact that blue kayn is incredible at zoning and poking since he can just perma stay in wall in late and his w has pretty solid range.

Playing kayn mid during those times *cough* before mythics *cough* was alot of fun especially since he was basically a nice sidegrade to talon when you play kayn mid
fastest i've been able to transform is 6:40ish and even that can be driven down to 6:30. that is pretty darn insane
Easy solution, make Kayn lose like 10% of his current orb ammount on death.
This way Kayn can still get his 3500 gold efficiency transformation worth of stats early in the game if he is ahead, but you actually have counterplay windows and putting him behind is ACTUALLY worth it.
See, the problem with that is that being behind on Kayn means you're literally never getting back in the game.
Vars made it seem like base Kayn is also a menace, but he really isn't. He's weak. Him dying means that he's already giving free gold to the enemy jungler, taking away the souls that he got just means that he's getting pushed back hard.
Imagine you're already 0/2 on Kayn, giving your kills to the enemy Kindred. Since you already died twice, you're way too far to get any form any time soon, and since the kills were given to the Kindred, you best believe the enemy will eternally camp you in your own jungle making you die even more, thus not even giving you the chance to transform.
@@FrenchDinosaur you could make it so the meter charges passively with neutral orbs and the ammount of blue and red ones that you have on top of the neutral orbs determines your form, so you CAN fall behind but you can't fall out completely.
Also its 10% current orb ammount so the less you have, the less your lose so early deaths put you less behind while doing coinflip plays around 10 to 14 mins (when you should have your form almost up) means you lose a lot.

as a Kayn main who now has over 220k points on him. This is the best champion in league of legends.
I've been a kayn main for the better part of 3-4 years (not consistently, I've been quitting and relapsing league for a while now) and I loved him from the moment I picked him up.
kayn is like the yone of the jungle to me, if you know your combos and your matchups well you can outplay almost anything
When Canyon picked it during Worlds, it was PEAK Kayn gameplay

I hate that his e heals. So many times I body one, they run into the walls and comeback with near full health. His ult also allows him to like Kha where they use it to refresh cooldowns

I am a filthy kayn aatrox main but I almost never go blue, I play kayn because he is darkin and I love the drain tank power fantasy. That’s why I go gore on both champs in nearly every game
I picked up the jungle role in S12 and 13 because I realized that Kayn is the champion in League that best encompasses the 2 of the 3 playstyles I tend to gravitate to in games.
Even when I was a laner, he wasn't necessarily a pick or ban for me. I was perfectly content going against Kayn compared to someone like Gangplank, Fiora or Gragas who are just infuriating to face.
There is one thing that I have to add to Kayn's broken design that I notice as a Kayn main.
First, let me preface it by saying that, at the moment as of 13.21, Kayn is probably in the most precarious position he's been in since launch. Repetitive nerfs of his transformed abilities, albeit warranted, have made his base form rather bad once again. As a jungler who wants to skirmish, he is somewhat dependent on jungle matchup or teamates to get it. He can't really be the one initiating ganks because his threat level is low and depending on enemy positioning, they can decide to simply not engage with you.
That brings me to the flaw in his design, one that I saw most prominently displayed and exposed to everyone when he was picked at Worlds 2022 by Canyon.
The only real way to counter him is to refuse to engage with him for the longest time possible. If you avoid him, refuse to fight him and just go around collecting leads for your team, Kayn won't get his form until after 15 to 17min and will simply lose the game. This is especially true at the moment which is why the Aery rune has seen adoption, in part due to Karasmai, as a way to patch how coinflippy Kayn is atm. Games currently have you attain form at 6-7min or at 15-17min, depending on a myriad of factors and Aery softens that curve quite a bit.
Thirdly. I believe Kayn was one of the champions that suffered the most nerfs not necessarily due to his kit scaling but how well it synergized with the most popular mythic items. I detest how Riot has approached balance since the mythic item rework in which they would see all these problematic champions I.E.: Aatrox, Fiora, Kayn, Kha'zix; etc. etc. and instead of nerfing the items they were abusing: Goredrinker, Death's Dance, Prowler's etc. etc. they would either hit only one of the champions or, worse, double dip.
There were so many patches in which Kayn items were nerfed due to Riot not wishing to nerf, as an example, Aatrox, but they would also hit Rhaast for example or base Kayn. While deserved, it just really speaks to how much of a symptom of mythics Kayn's current infamy is.

@@proxnoob6177 Sorry but I never been bronze my first season I finished gold since I came from DOTA and Kayn is absolutely illegal you can clear the jungle faster than anyone else because you can ignore pathing going throw walls while healing and you have tons of damage and AOE with W+Q with Q having an insanely low CD. Red kayn gets insane levels of tankiness with that damage + AOE and if you have any chance of dying you can just go into the bruiser/tank healing 90% since you can just wait until ignite/healing reducation effects to run off. That would still be fine but you can choose to go the abomination that it is blue kayn that has the most mobility in the game and the dumbest one shot combo too where you can just Smite+ULT and after ult Q+W(undodgesble even with flash) and in the case you cannot one shot you can just poke with W throw the walls since they don't have any animation whatsoever to dodge because you are inside a wall and you have more mobility than anyone else. Also I am diamond at the moment and I don't think I am high-elo the difference between diamond and challenger is absurd I know because I played from S5 to S11 in challenge until I got banned for elojobbing so sr I know how to play a little bit
He isn’t freelo. Otherwise more people will just be picking him specifically to climb easier. Most people pick him because they Are Kayn mains or Kayn otps. They just enjoy the champ and so know more about how to work with his unique playstyle.

A couples of days ago i played vs a Blue Kayn full assasin build. I was Samira, so I play around that by buying Frozen Heart and G.A (once the passive was used changed it to Dead Man's Plate). When he dind't oneshot me being at 270 armor and 2800 heatlh (+ shieldbow) he proceed to call my champion "OP adc tank" and cried for the rest of the game xD. Kayn players have the mindset of "If I can't oneshot someone, they are OP" which speaks volumes about the champ.
Dude runs toward ur team, kills someone, goes untargetable, and waits to do it again....
I think the thing that I hate most about Kayn is I can dodge everything, space him so he can’t auto me and all he has to do is smite and he can still ult me. He waits for his cool downs and now I can’t dodge anything and so he one shots me by missing everything on the engage
If I play Kayn it is only for the funny arguments between him and Rhaast
I love playing kayn i just hate that u have to fight certain champions to earn the form u want. My bot lane mad cause im tryna go red and they opponents are ranged. Or if i wanna go blue top gets mad cause i hardly gank them.

I might as well have a 100% Ban rate on Kayn cause as a support , I ward 2 places , I don't wanna ward the back bush as well and fear for my life if I don't have 3 wards up at the same time to know if Kayn is coming , I can barely keep up 2
When me and my buddies play, our jg main buddy plays Kayn when he feels like turning off his brain to turbo farm or constantly fight when it is CONVENIENT for him. Kayn is just that type of bs lol.
