RIP Keith Flint. The Prodigy influenced and shaped electronic & dance music around the world, especially in the 90s. There was no one hotter. Ugly yet beautiful, raw, aggressive, just freaking great music. Their music brings so many awesome memories from my crazy teen age. My heart is broken.
STILL blasting this in 2023! I started listening to Prodigy during the Bosnian war in 1992 as a teenager, and here is a little Prodigy related anecdote from the war later on, in 1993... During the siege of Sarajevo I lived right at the front lines, and late at night, Serbian soldiers would sing their old folk and "Chetnik" songs driving us nuts, so we went around for days collecting car batteries from damaged cars, speakers and sound systems from destroyed cars and apartments, and we put together a loud system with multiple speakers in 4 different apartments in a destroyed building (in the part of Sarajevo we called "Little Hiroshima" due to the scale of destruction). The only albums we had were Prodigy's Experience, Metallica by Metallica, Guns N Roses' Use Your Illusion, and a couple of Yugo rock albums. So when they start singing that caveman stuff, we would blast Prodigy's Experience as loud as possible, shutting them up. 😊 Unfortunately, car batteries get drained quickly, so we had a badly damaged Opel hatchback with a solid little engine that we started whenever we had some fuel to burn (we used oil from old machines too) just to charge the batteries. Been blasting it ever since! 💪 RIP Keith

You mean back when they were squatting in a warehouse and you had to have the right info to find out where it was? When the party could end any second because it was found out and shut down? When the musicians did it, risking all their gear just to share their talent? That was fun.

Imo I think they were more than just rave music, the music of that era felt like an amalgamation of every genre and that's why they could play with bands at festivals.

Kenny Everett. Wonder what he would think if he was alive today knowing that many a drug fuelled UK raver listened and danced to this and never new that he was the voice of Charly? Kenny, you were a one of a kind superstar and old skool ravers like me remember you and miss you both for the voice of Charly and your great comedy sketches in your TV and radio shows.
According to Liam Howlett he tried to get money out of Virgin for it and was refused because he didn't personally hold the rights for the episode that was sampled. But he was 100% aware of the track and wasn't happy with it

He was before the Prodigy in a more band style dance,, with, Dub Be Good to Me, which, i believe, was release before Charly. The main bulk of BI was electronic
This video changed my life for sure. I have never seen a human being performing stylisher movements before (and after). The track itself is pure genius art, even if it would be released today. Release this again, it's important the kids know. They listen to music . please 🙏 🙏 🙏
You do know ‘Charley’ is street slang for coke! I’m not sure The Prodigy were being quite as citizenly minded 😂
Arrrrrrrgh man where did the time go it was only 1991 a blink of eye ago 😳 i was 14 years old just about to turn 15 in june and getting ready for my final year in school 😮
It's scary just how far ahead of their time The Prodigy actually were
***** The Prodigy was making music long before Fatboy Slim, Chemical Bros., and Crystal Method.
rareblues78daddy Actually, thats incorrect. Fatboyslim aka Norman Cooke ,created, Beats international and before that was part of the pop group, The Beautiful Southd. He was before the Prodigy in a more band style dance,, with, Dub Be Good to Me, which, i believe, was release before Charly. The main bulk of BI was electronic
Radiovarietyshow he mean't in the vaguely comparable style, which somebody brought up, only to then distance the Prodigy from.
djGreenALERT still sounds good now
@ Harris Miller Indeed they do.
RIP Keith!
This was the first track of theirs I ever heard.
Happy Birthday. This Song Today turns 31 Years.
Such a unique band , every song has a different sound off it , RIP Keith
Exatly
My first Prodigy experience was Charly at the Lizard Lounge in Deep Ellum Dallas circa the early 1990s. RIP Keith.
This still sounds awesome in 2023 and I see loads of languages feeling it too. World united in music x
Bolsshoy laik👍
@@aneonel2555 здорово! когда мне было 16, вышел Invaders Must Die)) классные времена
Who’s still here in 2024?
God damn yes 👍💪
Me❤
Just saw them perform at ATN
8/7/24
Me and my daughter still do it I'm an old raver
The ultimate E head tune.. if I wasn’t so straight headed these days I would do it all over again. Can’t be 18 forever 😁
This video changed my life for sure. I have never seen a human being performing stylisher movements before (and after). The track itself is pure genius art, even if it would be released today. But back in the day when it came out, it was something so new and different you have to be in your 40s to really understand.
REST EASY KEITH FLINT. YOU WERE SUCH A BADASS AND YOU GUYS WERE 1ST BAND THAT GOT ME INTO TECHNO/HOUSE/ METAL/MIX MUSIC.MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND YOUR FAMILY AND THE OTHER MEMBERS OF PRODIGY AS WELL.
always the greatest music , energy, power, creativity! love it Keith flint will always be missed but never forgotten ❤
The early 90s music scene just transported you into another dimension. I remember it was like nothing I heard before. And everyone was so happy.

Spit fire
R.I.P. Keith Flint. You will be missed.
I feel like I’m coming up on pills from just watching this😂. I miss the 90’s even though I don’t really remember a lot of it.
The Prodigy made me excited for the future......You are all immortal.
Still blasting this at full volume in 2022
2023 now baby!!
It’s May 2023 still listening. I was raving to this in my youth. Almost 50 yrs old now 😊
