Thank you, Roy, for your comment. Actually, the Angel is quite a distinct snare drum. The proprietary hardware, featuring the totally unique snare throw off, sets this drum apart from many of the rest. I might mention that Angel snare drums are made from some gorgeous woods and finishes. Now, the Mapex Versatus is a beautiful drum. No doubt about it, and depending on the heads and how you tune them, you could find some strong similarities. For you to recognize this, you must have great ears. Well done! Cheers? HD Warren
