Gatekeeping if I were to guess. I leaned everything I know about blender with obscure tutorials, trial and error and actually good videos like this. Every "Pro" I asked gave a complex answer with terminology that obviously was unnecessary and word soup. Other's i asked refused and told me that I should've already learned that by now or that I should've watched some archaic tutorials just to find one issue I had.
thanks for the video. im a beginner using 3.4 and i also learned a few extra things here: 1. Blender by default does not auto sync your edit mode and UV edit mode. You'll have to toggle that in the UV edit mode. 2. Interestingly, your UV editor is auto-unwrapping as you mark these seams. There's another setting I had to toggle under "Active Tool -> Options -> UV - Live Unwrap" to get that working.
This was INSANELY useful! Thank you so much for the amazing video. I will follow your videos to improve my animations. Keep up all the phenomenal content!
Hello. Thanks for the video. What is Mark Sharp used for? Your objects had blue colour edges that I thought, were Mark Sharp on corners, first. But then you changed them to Mark Seam. But I didn't understand what it was used for.
Yes thank you bro, clearly explain 🔥🔥🔥 finally now I know how blender uv mapping workflow, Ive been stuck on the uv map about 1 years since Ive started
First time here on your channel. The information is great, there's nothing else really to add to this informative video about seams in Blender. Also, first impressions got me thinking the following : "Eh... He looks a bit excited". I'll seek further for more information from people like you.
Welcome to the channel and glad information lined up with your expectations. Here's a link to the Blender playlist I've created over the months. If you ever need to know more information, that's the best place on the channel to find it: ua-cam.com/video/MZkC1XMDtDY/v-deo.html Hope it helps and thanks for watching :)
Other youtubers: "Let me show you how to unwrap "this" object and then go do the same on yours." Royal Skies: "Let me show you what these red lines actually do and how they interact with each other." I literally just went from cutting random lines all over until it seems to work out... To actually perfectly unwrapping a fairly complex piece of armour and understanding why it actually worked.
No problem, I'm real glad to hear they've been helping you. As far as where I learned all this stuff. It's a bit of a story, but I started teaching myself to make video games from the 10th grade. And, I made a bunch of 3D models throughout high-school to prepare for a game I wanted to finish by college. So, by the time I got to the middle of college, I had about 5 years of experience modeling, rigging, texturing, and animating. And, the last 3 years of college I spent programming everything together. And, that's the project you see me sharing at the end of each video. The tutorials I'm making now is just me sharing everything I've learned in the last 12 years. But, there's honestly no reason it should take you as long as it took me to learn. My goal in the next 6 months, is that you all know how to do everything that took me 12 years to learn. Hopefully saving you a bunch of time. But, yeah. That's the story. Sorry if it was long. Very few people actually ask that question lol. Anyway, hope it helps and welcome to the channel :)
Yes ! Jap-Gulty Gear art shading all the way ! I wanna start a YT 3d anime show and Ideally hook up with someone. I have some modeling and animation experience but learning atm. I wanna lean towards Blender-Unreal (got cinema, maya, 3ds max, etc...)
It's a great art style, and it saves quite a lot of time on texturing as well. Just stay focused and put in the time, your goals are totally within the realm of doable-
idk if you're gonna read this but i have a question...in substance painter there's an option called "generate missing UVs" so i tried UV unwrapping a cabinet couple of minutes ago and it looked great with the texture except one spot that i left on purpose so my question here is how are "misplaced seams" identified? like i textured assets that had no stretching but still seemed a teeny tiny bit off so how can i know i did a good job and how can i make sure i marked enough UVs in the correct way so that i can texture it freely on substance painter without stressing tf out on wether or not i made a mistake while unwrapping in blender that may take some of the freedom of texturing away?
Perfect. Why is it so difficult for other channels to get to the point, and stay there. It's weird.
Pros want to stay on top and stay special. That doesn't happen when everyone knows how the important stuff works.
Gatekeeping if I were to guess.

Man I thought exact the same thing! This is the best tutorial I've ever seen, all my questions have been answered. Wtf it's perfect.
a mix of "teaching is hard" and "blender's quality of usability is very low" i would say
You Are Right
This seams easy enough!
That was rough.

wow, thank you so much, honestly
Does this also work on complex models too? For example a model with 10k verts?
I know how to unwrap a cylinder but how should I do it with a bended shield WITH texture?????
How do I get to the part to even find out where the seams are in the first place?
