Once, in the very late 90’s, I took a bus from the South to the North. I did this with a single piece of paracord. Just one big loop through the grommet on the end of the knife sheath, twisted once to make a figure-8 and put it on like a jacket. Took some adjustment to dial it in for size, I used a two-half hitches knot. The knife was an SOG Tigershark. Hanging upside down, the sheath’s belt loop hung close to my belt, but not close enough. I used another length of cord to tie it to my belt.
Great project, however I see that the flat nature of the cobra knot lends itself to the possibility of not laying flat all the way across the shoulders. I think a good alternative “round” knot might be a more comfortable one to wear across the shoulders. Recommendations for such an alternative knot, and lengths?
Valid point! In my experience of putting this harness on, the cobra knots can really only sit flat against your body because if the harness is put on properly, it can only sit one way. If the strap is twisted, you would feel it right away when putting it on. However, if you do want to use a round weave, I'd go with the snake knot. In terms of measurement, I'm quite sure the 1 foot of cord per inch rule applies, but I'd test it out beforehand just to be sure.
This is my preferred carry method for a fixed blade and a pistol. I have a harness that I made from webbing that uses molle pannels to mount a knife sheath and pistol holster. I also modified a slim (two rows of loops) drop leg molle pannel that allows me to carry a single blade or pistol using molle straps. Although a great idea, I don't think this version would be suitable for my edc needs as it is not adjustable and on the thin side, widthwise. Seems like it would dig in and maybe cause hot spots if worn for long periods. I like the concept and think it would be a good rig for wearing over your jacket around camp or something like that with a smaller fixed blade. It would also be good for a folder if you either tied the two ends together to make a loop for the pocket clip or mounted a thin ring to hang it from.
I think it’s a great idea & back in the late 80’s I used to carry a CS Tanto like that with a specially made strap that was for carrying like that. I lost it over the years but it’s a great way to edc. I have an Izula & I’ll try it when I can afford the paracord.
WOE I made one kinda like this but I've taken it apart to make both sides able to be laced on Kydex sheathes of any kind an probably part of a belt harness set up. currently I had to add my mods to the harness before I get to wear it so now I'm assembling it.
Damn I really like this. Unfortunately it's illegal to conceal a fixed blade knife where I live. I can conceal a pistol all day long but not knives because.... reasons
@@ScottGrow117 yes but carrying under the arm is sketchy even if you're just wearing a t-shirt. Get the wong cop in a shitty mood and they'll say it's attempting to conceal. Just safer to keep it in your belt in plain view
@@ScottGrow117 not really. For reference I carry a Ka-bar D2 extreme series with a 7 inch blade daily with no problem. The only stipulation is that it has to be plainly visible. But there are no length requirements as long as it's not concealed
@@r.j.macready8328 messer is German for knife. A langen messer is a long knife, but they also have kriegs messers as well, about equivalent to a long sword, except they were usually not double edged. Anyway, I’d carry a langen messer on my hip.
Might have to try this for my microtech Socom alpha. With the 5.6 inch blade, and an overall length of 10 inches. It doesn’t make for the most comfortable belt carry knife
@@noelstrong6832 I haven’t found a way to carry it comfortably yet, it would depend on your planned use. Being that I bought the signature variant It sure looks cool sitting on my desk! However with the mini I would be able to actually use it haha
Really cool idea. Something elastic that could attach to the other end of the sheath and your belt would keep the knife from banging around under the cover garment. Also, some Kydex sheaths actually have a thumb lock to secure the blade when upside down - seems like a great idea to me. Check your state’s laws regarding concealed carry of knives. In Maine, Bowie knives, dirks, stilettos, or “other dangerous or deadly weapon” may not be concealed. There is an exception for “knives used to hunt, fish or trap” but do you really want to argue about that in court? Unless you actually are engaged in hunting, fishing or trapping.
Method is King! For me its too big. Just Take a single Strip of pc and make its size adjustable. Works great and you can wear it stealthy. Even a Shirt wont blow your disguise 😅 greetings from Germany ❤
Same concept as the Mercharness that Modern Combative Systems has been making and selling for about 10-15 years. I wonder if George knows about this...

On the belt and if it’s big enough I’d strap the bottom to my leg
Yoooooo that is so cool
Keep up the amazing work

Thanks. I've been wanting something like this for a while. I'm experimenting with some d-rings near the shoulder to carry a radio.
That's how I carry my SOG pillar but I've just been using one strand of Paracord, I'm definitely going to try making this!
Good, practical project. Clear and easy to follow as always. Thanks. Well done.
Thank you for the kind words and glad you liked it!

Pretty cool! I made something similar, but I like your idea better. Especially in jacket weather.
Cool! I won't do it, but I like it.
Thanks for caring.

Where can I get a silicone cord lock wider than the link yin description? Similar to the one in video.

This is so cool! I got everything I need to make it
Sweet , I’ll be making that. Great Idea.
if this seems practical enough i might try this out. only now that its summer im not gonna need it because its just to hot to wear any extra layers.
You might wear it inside a loose shirt. If you really need to reach for it a few torn buttons won't matter.
It's a very cool way to wear a harness
I need to find a good knife to do this with, or I’ll just make another
Make me one so I can make a leather sheath I've run out of knives
Great video and nice segue for the VPN ad. 😁
Thanks! 😃
Looks awesome, definitely going to have to make this
Nice. I’ll make one today
Awesome video, will definitely try to make this! What CRKT is that in the video?
Thanks for all your Paracording inspiration.
That is the CRKT Obake
I like this idea.
I have a vintage Remington nylon 66 I'd love to see you make a sling for
That'd be good for a tomahawk rig
What recommendations would you have for lengths if I’m a size xl shirt? I want to try this it looks fantastic
I would recommend a longer length lol
Im probably gonna use this to carry my phone
Great knife as well.
well after doing this you sure well know how to tie cobra knots... :D ... I already feel overwhelmed
Awesome video as always. Thanks!
Complimenti,bel video.👍
Nice job 👍 can I purchase one ?
Nice concept but I should use a buckle on the opposite side of the knife so it’s easier to put on and better fitting…
Great idea!
Well done 👍

I'm going to need you to make me 2 black mercenary carries. same size.
80's!
Awesome

macramé for men ;-)
I actually prefer the term "tacramé" (tactical macramé)... 😅
In California you cannot conceal a fixed blade knife
Used to carry my kobun like this during the winter, remember I almost got robbed once, poor fker didn't even know what stung him
Will u just make me one.
You'd make a lot of money if you sold them. Because some people don't have the time or ability to make things by hand.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Mercinaries like the 2000+ killed in Ukraine 😂
what to use for the blue thingy if i dont have something like that and dont want to buy a 100pc package?
You can tie a celtic button knot/ranger bead instead. I have a tutorial for that here: ua-cam.com/video/Z_0ead7HxpU/v-deo.html
