  • Here are three big and EASY ways you can improve your knife as a part of your everyday carry essential kit. You'll also find a Snake Knot Knife Fob/Lanyard tutorial at 3:42!
    Many EDC enthusiasts in our community carry a knife as a part of their daily kit because they have a need for it to achieve their everyday tasks and goals.
    After having a knife as a part of my own loadout for a long time now, I've found a few ways to improve my knife to make it work for me and help me accomplish my tasks more efficiently.
    We'll discuss the benefits of adding a paracord fob to the end of your knife, replacing your stock pocket clip with a more subtle deep carry clip, and an all-important principle of everyday carry that you NEED to know and incorporate into your routine if you haven't already.
    If you like everyday carry, gear, and making sure you have a purposeful loadout prepared for whatever life throws at you, subscribe to my channel for personal reviews of knives, wallets, keys, and many other everyday carry pieces from a practical point of view!

    I like my swiss army knife twinker here. It serves as my primary knife but I don't need anything but a multitool in my pocket. My personal everyday carry consists of.
    - Pho-keh-wal (Phone, keys, and wallet)
    - hanky
    - notebook
    - pocket pen case (consisting of zebra f701 and streamlite microstream)
    - carmex tubular chap stick

    2:05 Which is why you attach the lanyard to your thumb around the hand, not to your wrist. A knife slips out of your hand by sliding forward. When it does, a lanyard secured in such a way will go taught before the knife fully leaves your grip and the cord will stay grasped in your fingers, essentially becoming a handle extension.

    I tend to reserve fobs for folding knives that lack a pocket clip. Mine are simple affairs, typically just a loop of cord with a bead at one end. Depending on its shape and diameter, the bead can help keep the knife from sliding around if it rests clear of the top of your pocket.

    Nice video man. I'm some what of a knife enthusiast, wicked large fixed to small (legal to carry) EDC. I do own some really cheap throw away models (everyone should IMO), but I like to stay in the $50 - $300 range, I most often buy a knife on the spur of the moment. Anyway, (more on topic), I have one knife in particular w/ a deep carry clip (CRKT BUKU Burnley Design folder) that for some reason or another (perhaps by design); you really have to make sure your thumb is placed at the very top of the over sized hole in the blade for a smooth deployment. So yes, practice, practice, practice, know your knife. Thanx again.

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  3 роки тому

      Spur of the moment is the most dangerous LOL. Every blade has its quirks. Even with the Para 3, if you don't get the placement angle right, you won't have a full and smooth deployment, so it's cool to hear you put in the hours practicing on your specific blade. Thanks for checking out the vid and glad you enjoyed it 🙌

    (2) more things that can make you knife look better and last longer. #1) If it's a G10 grip, rub a little mineral oil into the grip... Let it sit for 12-24hrs and buff with a cloth. #2) Get some Renaissance Wax and keep a light coating on your blade. it's the most popular micro crystalline wax "used by museums.

    Loved and enjoyed the vid. One quick feedback is that maybe you can lower down or just remove the background music since I felt it a bit annoying and your voice is already nice and attractive. I like to use fisherman type of knots for my lanyard since it feels more sturdy and strong. i found the best benefit of having a lanyard is that it makes it so easy to take in and out from my coin pocket. One top secret is that I like to spray just a little bit of cologne on the lanyard, trust me, it will make your knife instantly a gentleman's knife. your coworkers and your lady will appreciate that.

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  2 роки тому

      That RED folder looks great for an EDC knife, although ultimately it boils down to your needs. Does it help you with your daily routine? Does it comply with knife laws in your area? And would a knife fob help you wield the knife better (i.e. provide you with a little extra grip or help you get it out of your pocket more easily, etc.). All things to consider during blade selection and if it matches all criteria, you're set! Hope that helps man 🙌

      I would try dialing in a habit of always loading your knife into your pocket right before you head out and then unloading it in the same place as soon as you come home into a valet tray or designated area. That way, you can make sure it's always there and not randomly on your couch or shelf where you can misplace and ultimately lose the knife. Hope that helps!

    Hey Man sweet Spyderco.
    For the clip is the edge softer/rounder than the stock clip?
    I was not happy with the stock clip it scratched my steering wheel when getting into my car. It also scratched my bucket seat when I switched sides. So I was going to see if this clip has a rounded edge. I am only buying blades with wire clips now. I got some new ones recently (some in the mail).
    Thank you!

    • @RonKwok
      @RonKwok  2 роки тому

      The Lynchco clip does have rounded edges and I haven't had any issues with it scratching stuff, but from how you're describing it, I'd probably change how you stow your blade when in your car. The leather on your seats and steering wheel will give way to any kind of hard metal clip given enough force (i.e. when you're bumping into it or sitting down on it over time) so maybe just fully slip it into your pocket when driving and clip it back when you exit your vehicle? Hope that helps 👍

      @@RonKwok The way I carry it is normal pocket carry on my right pocket. It doesn't always touch the steering wheel but when it does catch, it scratches. It's the bridge rectangle part of the clip. I then switched to my left pocket. The bottom round part of the standard clip digs into the edge of the bucket seat when I get it to sit down. My pm2 and manix 2 s110v have the normal clips. I was planning on selling both. My Manix2 got sharpend in Golden and I want to keep it, but only if I can switch the clip that won't scratch.
      Thanks for letting me know about the rounded edge.
      I might keep the manix 2 and get a lynch clip.
      That is a good idea. I tried tucking it in my pocket but I have my phone on my right and my wallet on my left. And they stack funny.
      I got Lionsteel Kur and TRE, and a Dragonfly salt. I might get a pm3 lightweight.

      I just realized it because I'm short. ( 5'5) so I sit close to the wheel.
      My dad gave me the PM2 I got him, because he got a leather cover for his dodge and the clip cut it open. He is on the shorter side too.

    Good video, one thing i dont get, is why does it matter if anyone knows i have a pocket knife?? I dont care if anyone else has one in public, i dont get the big deal with concealing a knife?? I conceal my firearm, but the knife?? Theyre tools, not weapons, we all know this, maybe jm just complaining to complain

    No such thing as EDC in Queensland, Australia as it is illegal unless it's for your job, eg. a fisherman, cook, and so on. Only Pen knives and Swiss Army knives are allowed as utility knives.

    I've been EDC a Kershaw Clash for the last 10 years, unable to replace it with an equally excellent knife in my opinion. The Clash is the perfect size, perfectly ergonomic, perfect grip pattern on the scales, perfect blade shape, perfect opening mechanism, PERFECTLY PERFECT broad pocket clip you can't find on any other knife I've ever seen!!! I can't even express how excellent the pocket clip is on this knife. The ease of draw, the reach in pocket... everything about it is perfect except the steel quality. If they would do a re-release of the Clash with a superior American steel, I would never need another pocket knife in my life! Don't need any fob or lanyard to get snagged and lose my knife for me either.
