SOLO OVERNIGHT in DOMED SNOW HUT (NO Food, NO Water, NO Shelter!) | Wire, Shovel

  • I test my survival skills in an overnight challenge with just some snare wire, water canteen, and a shovel. I will attempt to build a shelter, start a fire, purify water, and catch some wild food to cook. Thanks to Princess Auto for the shovel! www.princessau...
My Gear (Shop and Support): www.thewoodedb...
Primitive challenge with a few simple basic tools. I will show you how to start a fire and make snow drinkable. Survival is all about making the best of a bad situation. Staying warm and dry is the key to staying alive. After survival is taken care of, it's all about making your situation even better. Finding food, water, and making a shelter is a must to create ultimate survival comfort. I use a saw and basic tools to make a bushcrafter shelter in the Canadian forest using materials around us like tree branches, dried grass, and snow.
I will show you how to make a simple bushcraft survival shelter using just a shovel. I pile up the snow, then use cedar branches to fill in the roof. Then I use the meshing created from the cedar bows as a frame to hold up chunks of snow. This simple shelter can be build in just an hour and protect against the harsh winter wind, snow blizzard, or even rain.
Water can be made drinkable just by boiling, but first you need to build a proper fire. I go over tinder selection such as cattails, dried grass, and dead flowering heads as well as collecting dried woods.

One thing I love about your videos, is learning how to survive in the snow. This is something I have no experience with. I have survived in the desert, the beach and the mountains when it isn't snowing. After all, I grew up in California, and when I was in my teens, wilderness survival was my "hobby". I learned how to build traps, eatable plants and making bows and arrows. Learned how to make fire and build shelters. However I am always learning new tricks. Thanks for teaching me new tricks.

Hi. Thanks, great fun watching you survive, thrive, and be alive. Smoke will be attracted to solid objects, so building a simple wall of sticks, bigger wood, even boughs will direct it away from you and your shelter. It’s worth the effort, as you can collect it with your fire wood or bedding, or dome shelter. Stay good

You guys must have had some awesome parents. Both of you seem to be well-rounded. Awesome shelter. As cold natured as I am I think I could have handled it in that shelter. I know that leaning a log onto a tree is an invitation for squirrels...maybe lay on up on both trees would be an invite. I attempted snaring squirrels on leaning logs but was never successful. I think I was making my loops to big or something. They would always be tripped but the loop bitten off. We never used bait....it seems the leaning log was all the invitation they needed. Love your videos.

A lot of Canadians are at least part English, even our French , but once you've lived here and actually let yourself experience the cold, you'll know why things like Poutine, fried fish, Heavily fatty desserts , etc are popular.
But that's just the mainstream stuff , the French side , and proto-cajun/native American side kicks in and once you've been hungry enough, you can make anything into the gourmet meal whatever God/Simulation/whatever theory meant it to be 🗿👽🐸

I live in Maine close to Zack . I’m way off the main roads , have 30 acres of land on a small river, access to hundreds of acres of prime hunting land. My house is off the grid . My water comes from a natural spring . I have a vegetable garden and fruit trees. I feel pretty confident with my situation, but there’s always room for improvement. I think I have heard you say that , so I watch you and others to learn more. Definitely learned great fishing and trapping skills from you. Thanks for doing what you do , keep it up.

The outdoors is just amazing and living in the outdoors im sure would be a great challenge, somehow I feel like meeting in the middle is the best path for us all. With the things we love and are bedded inside us to the modern convences and modern day ways. The rite path is the loved path and also the best path. You guys are amazing in the things yall do; and I'm a fan and very thankful to be able to learn from and watch yalls videos. Expecially since I have no way here to live my life at this point the way I'd actually like to. Just amazing to watch it, y'all bring people in a since to there roots the things they love in just watching and living the adventures through yall. As always, full stop. Water, fire, shelter and food. 3 out of 4 isn't a fail... for one day. Interested to find out if the squirrel snares worked and how long it took.

hahaha, yeah lazy is a tough one. You can always do some super lazy survival, just make a fire and sit, nothing wrong with that!

Totally needed to throw a shovel at that squirrel.
I love your videos in winter, because I had my ovn experience with building survival camp in school. Got really cold at night because roof had big gaps, but there were my other class mates and we just staked up closer in the shelter.
Overall this brings back true memories. 👍

Small star shaped teepeed tinder for starting... OR a put the big stuff on the bottom to protect the tinder from the cold and potential wet... and create a teepeed tinder shelter on top of those with More twigs and small sticks above that to get it started.... make sure there’s space to allow air flow into the starter tinder.....

Full stop! When I was 12 I read a book "the hatchet" by Gary Paulsen, about a guy that had to survive in the wilderness after a planecrash, that is what made me interested in survival, I can really recommend the book!

Those gloves look so warm! And nice shelter! I had to do the same thing once but I had a tarp to place down before my branches and trees and not always do you have a tarp in survival!

They in nests or dens that they create or find in trees. Ground stay on the ground. They are burrowing animals that dig holes in the ground to stay warm. Depending on the species of ground , they may even hibernate in their homes throughout the winter.

Only odd thing was probably a beaver, slapping it's tail. I really thought it was bigfoot throwing rocks in the water.

Really like the idea of this challenge! I think as you trap for a while you are gonna become addicted! I think you should set 10 times the amount of sets that you think you need, success by numbers! I put out my first catch cook video because of your channel! I really enjoy your content man! I started my channel as a how to trap but am thinking about expanding! Keep up the great work man! From a yank down south 👊🇺🇸
