The animations on this game are unreal I don't think I've ever played a 2D game that feels so smooth, I mean I think most 3D games don't even put this much thought into animating all the tiny possibilities. Far too many games look like their characters are just gliding over the floor or uphill while a running animation is playing.
well don't forget she's also part metroid now, and she's in the Metroid Suit Metroids are the natural predators of X parasites, so of course the hyper beam would be powerful enough to eradicate X parasites now that she's in a fully metroid suit
It must have been such a pain for Raven Beak to contain the X. Seeing how quickly he was swarmed by a parasite as soon as his airship crashed, I wouldn't be suprised if he alone was anxious of how carelessly he could succumb to an X parasite while sealing Elun
Honestly, it's really cool how the emmis' fast and slow timings attack Samus in different ways, slow timing pins her to the ground, fast timing grabs her. The entire thing with two different animations is epic anyway, they could've just gone with two different delays picked randomly but they took the extra steps and made it look cooler.
This isn't specific to any speed of EMMI. Once you remove the faceplate, they all instantly slam samus onto the ground, but grab her when the faceplate is still present.
I think the creature in the tank in Dairon more closely resembles the wasp hive boss fight from Other M. There are a few references from that game in Dread, the biggest being the return of the diffusion beam. The hyper beam being able to destroy free floating X seems to be the answer as to how Raven Beak was able to overcome ZDR being infested and his entire army possessed by them. Through battle he demonstrated to them he can erase them entirely asserting his dominance over them. We see he is also sporting the lightning armor aeion ability we had in Samus returns, however the coloring can vary depending on what level of shielding it is providing. I think this is also how he managed to retake control of his army after they were consumed by X, he must have a version or coloring that either repels X or destroys them completely if they touch him in this state. He is only able to be possessed at the end of Dread because Samus drained his suit stripping him of all his power. A rather fitting end for his character.
Speaking of raven beak having Aeion abilities, he also has the beam burst ability, which makes sense as he was the last Chozo, and presumably the last non-X creature alive on SR388
@@NeoHedge1 He does have an ability similar to Phase Drift though, in the Flash Shift. @@emmareiman64 Maybe his lightning armor variations took up the slots for other aeion abilities, or they were separate abilities themselves. We don't truly know all of his abilities, only the ones he uses against Samus during their battle. We can clearly see how Samus moves with both abilities, so I don't think that connection is accurate. Flash shift is restricted to horizontal movements where as phase drift is only limited by the aeion meter and Samus can move in all directions using it. Phase drift was mearly their answer for the speed boost on a limited system.

A lot of "Hey, I have an enemy that kind of does that" or "Hey, I actually am working on a system where docile creatures are disturbed by nearby sounds too" and most of the time they're details I love putting in because I feel like they add a lot of believability to my worlds and that's a hugely important thing for me as a developer, but most of which I expect to go unnoticed. Videos like this make me happy to know the work that goes into stuff like this really is appreciated by players.
It's so fun seeing such passion put into all the small details, and having a little bit of game design experience myself, it's such a satisfying process adding in those details and seeing your world come to life! You've really collected some excellent, easily-missed details in these vids. I don't think I've ever even thought to use the grapple beam downwards on an already clinged-to magnetic wall, but sure enough they made an animation specifically for that interaction and it looks sick. Also I remember being so happy to see the X parasites get sucked in with power bombs like in Fusion as shown here. Really happy that this game got to be made by a team that really knew their stuff.
Maybe you could go over how in the cutscene where Samus counters EMMI-07PB (Hanubia) the animation actually looks a bit different than normal. The camera's movement is different, less cinematic, and I'm not sure if the counter flash appears.
The real thing to learn here is that you also have a chance to counter an E.M.M.I. after it grabs you. I always thought you could only counter it before it grabs you.
