"Let off some steam, Bennett" 💨
Some of his one-liners like this one are just priceless!
“I’ll be back, Bennett.”
“Cmon Bennett, Let’s Party!”
“I’m not gonna shoot you between the eyes, John…gonna shoot you between the balls!” - Bennett😂
It can't be easy to shoot someone between the balls, that would take great skill.
NC: I also would’ve accepted, “I’m so steaming, man.”. Ugh… good night.
@SCARFACE - a classic quote.
But also with Vernon George Wells as Bennett.
The same guy from Mad Max 2, Innerspace and MacGyver...
Much respect there.
One of those "background actors" that you sometimes see in the movies, sort of = you know the face, but you don't know their names.
Commando is one of those movies I put on if I am having a bad day. Perfect over the top action film, it's damn near a comedy
@Chris Miller now that you mention it the overblown action does make it veer off into comic territory 😅 and yes one of those flicks that can lift my spirits have to drop the remote when it's on! CHEERS mate .
Spotting all the same stuntmen at the end wearing different wigs and moustaches is fun.
@@o0pinkdino0o Also the string holding up Sully
@@ChrisMillerCrazyHouse I'm glad someone else spotted that !😅 i think even the G I joe cartoon had more reality than this in some scenes , but still it's 80'S action and you gotta love it !
Commando is a great, mindless entertainment type of movie.
Arnold beats an entire army single-handedly in this and survives jumping from a plane during takeoff without a scratch, but the most unrealistic thing in the movie is that the CIA overthrew a fascist dictator to install a democratic president in Latin America
I love me some Terminator and Predator, but something about Commando hits different. I'm so hyped to watch your reaction! Lets go!
General Kirby- 'Did you leave anything for us?'
Arnie- 'Just bodies'
My favorite movie as a kid so much fun. Your reactions were great, such a cutie pie.
Cindy aka Rae Dawn Chong was so awesome. Her comedic relief is to die for. She is basically talking for us as the audience. I mean all the ridiculous event that she has to witnes like Arnonld ripping out the car seat, to ARnold swinging like tarzan in a shopping mall! To killing a man with stake through the chest. Filpping the phone booth. Cindy's comments let us know, "this is bannas" and not to take this movie too seriously.
Cindy is awesome. Almost up there with Sarah Connor and Ripley!
Kudos for them also not making her a love interest, at least not explicitly
I love the part where Arnold and Bill Duke start slugging it out in that tiny motel room and Rae Dawn Chong hides in a corner and basically starts riffing on the movie. "I don't believe this macho bullshit!" "These guys eat too much red meat!"
Eh, nothing against the actress, but her lines in this film feel phoned in. Like listen to how she says "NO!" at 16:37. Seriously, Wonder Woman's "Kal-El, no!!!" feel more legit, then hers.
She's the daughter of Tommy Chong.
It's so cute that you're questioning yourself what his profession is, while the movie is called Commando! 🤗😉
You gonna love Arnold in True Lies (1994)! 🥰👌🏼✌🏼
lol it honestly didn't even click. I always thought "commando" meant going without undies lmao😂
@@LoveLaurenn 🤣👌🏼✌🏼
"Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last?"
"That's right, Matrix! You did!"
"I lied."
(Sully Screams "Oh La La!")
"What happened to Sully?"
"I let him go."
Fun Fact: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vernon Wells have remained close friends ever since the making of the movie.
Location Location Fact: The shopping mall (Sherman Oaks Galleria) used is the same one that was used in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), also starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Since both films wrapped, the mall has been remodeled.
Black Belt Fact: Martial arts expert and fight choreographer Michael M. Vendrell worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger on the film, and, by the end of production, Vendrell estimated that Schwarzenegger had become a second degree black belt.
Vernon Wells’ other iconic role was Wez in Mad Max 2, where his SM leather and red Mohawk was even more radical than his chain mail in Commando😂
The fact that Arnie took his martial arts training so seriously that he achieved the equivalent of a second-degree black belt doesn't surprise me at all.
For a person who was Mr. Universe and went on to be an accomplished actor who couldn't understand his English lines in his first starring role, and then on to become the Governor of California, and on to be a champion for the mentally challenged, why, you could tell me that he designed a machine to cure cancer, end world hunger and reverse the aging process and I wouldn't doubt it one bit.
It takes a superior internal drive, commitment to the betterment of one's self and a humble grasp of identity to do all the things that he has achieved in his life.
Arnie is a 100% class act!
Best to you-
His knitted wool 'chainmail' 😆
@@stuartwesthall he looked like the Biker in Village People😆
Nobody can get a 2nd degree black belt in less than 3-4years unless it’s a Micky mouse black belt 😂😂😂
“I eat Green Berets for breakfast and right now I’m very hungry!”😂, Jesus H this flick had Arnie’s cheesiest lines but it worked lol. I remember it was released the same summer as Rambo 2 and my dad thought Rambo was a much better film, but I loved Commando for its silliness😆
C'mon... you gotta react to "Conan The Barbarian"! It was one of Arnie's first big budget movies.
Good reaction, looking forward to the next one :)
One of the best Arnie movies with all of the 80s tropes to liven up your day. This one is the original "Taken" in my book. This man has some "skills."
Your reaction to Sully dying got me dying XD
She has such an evil laugther at that moment. Hahaha...
Please also check out The Running Man, another Arnold’s awesome movie.
Rae is just the right level of annoying where she isn't a hated sidekick for Arnie and she helps in clutch moments.
I was 7 when this came out. Back then I thought it was the coolest action movie ever. Watching it as an adult, it's still awesome, but in an 80s cheese nostalgia sense. As I recommended in your Predator reaction, you have to watch the musical version. Check out "Commando the Musical" on YT. It's a short, hilarious, summary of this movie just like "Predator the Musical".
I highly recommend Arnold's movie "Conan the Barbarian". It's one of his first big movies. It's an awesome sword and sorcerer genre movie with great bloody action and a great soundtrack.
So you mention 2 "musicals"... and Conan... but not Conan the Barbarian the musical? :P
@@marcusott5054 Yep. there's one of those too. Just search UA-cam for them. They are as hilarious as Honest Trailers and Bad Lip Reading.
Bennet being fairly calm for the most part made his screeching at Matrix awesome and funny at the same time. Showed how he was truly afraid of Matrix.
I always imagined that this movie was Dutch's story before the events of Predator happened haha. Which would make the last line of the movie even more hilarious. This is such a great movie though. Glad you loved it Lauren!
And Cooke in Commando reincarnated as Mac in Predator lol.
@@nickchang5293 Mac was Cooke's twin brother 😉😂
Bill Duke also directed the film Deep Cover. Very talented and imposing fellow😎
@@nickchang5293 Yeah! I noticed that in Commando he looked taller than Arnold.
@@FutureBoy85 he’s 2 inches taller than Arnie
I forgot to mention, please check out Arnold's 1987 film, "the running man." It's frickin awesome, set in a dystopian future. The action is incredible and Arnie's on top form.
Absolutely, The Running Man is great, definitely one to check out.
Isn't that the one movie that, like the movie Battle Royale, got its inspiration from the book "The Hunger Games?"
;)
EDIT: I forgot about online trolls...
(YES I WAS BEING SARCASTIC)
The Running Man isn't perfect, but it's an awesome flick to watch and I'd love to see the LoveLaurenn take on it.
Best to you-
@@martinboyle9163 gotta love the 80s cheese, mixed with some brutal action.😂👍
@@opiejaye hope she does. I'm guessing she'll love it.
You should watch True Lies. One of Arnold's best.
I’m very disappointed that TL isn’t on Blu-ray☹️
It is... though finding out what happened to Eliza Dushku during the making of it has really soured my enjoyment of it to the point I can't watch it again.
@@carn9507 I can't really blame the film. She didn't tell anyone and only talked about it many years later. I remember Cameron saying when he found out that if he knew then there would have been no mercy for the guy and he would have done everything he could to make sure his life was over.
@@richardb6260 Dushku says she did tell someone. "She confided to an adult female friend, who then allegedly confronted Kramer on the set. Dushku said that she then broke ribs in a stunt that went awry, calling it “no small coincidence”. She said Kramer “was responsible for my safety” on the film."
"Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during production, but Sue Booth-Forbes, who was Dushku’s guardian on the set, says that she had failed to protect the child actor. Booth-Forbes told Variety and Deadline that Dushku is “telling the truth,” and said she reported what she called Kramer’s “inappropriate sexual behaviour” at the time to “a person of authority” and that no action was taken. She did not identify the person to whom she reported the alleged incident. "
I always thought the title of this movie should have been “One-liner Commando”
Perfect 80s blend of comedy and action. Loved this movie. Great review, keep up those awesome vids. Thanks for posting and bringing back great memories!!
I remember MAD Magazine did a hilarious spoof with the cover title “Commandork” and had the tagline “Somewhere, somehow, someone is gonna pay for this movie”😂
I'm a fan of the one-liners lol I find it comical😄Another great 80s film, loved it! Thanks for the kind words Dan and thank you for watching🙏
I have such mixed feelings about this movie. I like it, but the first time I saw it was with my dad, on VHS as a rental. My dad was a 'Nam vet (former Green Beret) who had extreme PTSD. He absolutely lost his shit watching this movie and got so angry he put his foot through the TV screen (it was the scene where Arnie mows down a dozen guys by sweeping a machinegun across the courtyard, which is crazy unrealistic). I was like 10 at the time, and that's definitely one of the more traumatic memories of my childhood. I can't really watch this movie without hearing my dad lose his shit, so it always makes me uncomfortable.
Anyways, that log Arnie lifts weighs about 200 lbs tops, much lighter than you might think. Also, if you pay real close attention during the robbery scene, you can actually see the instruction manual for the rocket launcher. She wasn't lying, she really did read the instructions.
Regarding next time, it's said Commando 2 turned into Die Hard (Bruce Willis). Love Commando. Watched it a few dozen times. Great 1980's action along with Death Wish 3.
I've met David Patrick Kelly, who plays Sully, the creep who "doesn't" die last. He's also majorly creepy in films like "The Warriors" and "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane". In "John Wick" he leads the clean-up crew. He's actually the sweetest guy.
He was also in Dreamscape, The Crow and another great Walter Hill flick, 48hrs😎
@@nickchang5293 His character in Dreamscape is one of my favorite villains of all time. He's such a detestable little creep in that movie, it's glorious.
He's also got a small part in Twin Peaks. He comes back in Twin Peaks: The Return for one of the more absurd subplots.
Fun fact: David Patrick Kelly was ALSO in the FMV adventure game from 1996, Ripper, as Joey Falconetti. A cyberpunk thriller set in 2040 about a futuristic Jack the Ripper who kills people through cyberspace. It also had Christopher Walken, Karen Allen, John Rhys-Davies, and Burgess Meredith. My mother and I both played it.
That is the mark of a GREAT actor!
When a guy with the humble, accessible and likeable golden personality of David Patrick Kelly makes you want to take a shower to clean the muck off after watching him perform as a villain!
Best to you-
Awesome, one liners a plenty in this!!! Thank you for this, I know I'm gonna love it.... let's go!!!
A name that doesn't make sense (John Matrix), cheesy one liners, and insane 80s action. Commando is pure quintessential Arnold turned up to 11. The scene where Arnold drops Sully off the cliff is one of the funniest scenes in any movie ever lmao To answer your question, Arnold has a ton of classics, but T2 is my favorite Arnold movie.
15:31 If there are any Paul Blart fanboys in existence, their brains just exploded.
P.S. Your Arnold impression is in the Hall of Fame of great impressions 💯
Loved that scene with Sully, thought it was hilarious. He just held him there like a little rag doll😂Glad you like my Arnie impressions lmao Thanks awakeee
Arnold is King of one liners. We need a short video of all the Arnold impressions Lauren has done. Let off some steam, Lauren! Lol
If you want some great action comedy with Arnie, I highly recommend The Last Action Hero. That movie is criminally underrated and was kind of misunderstood by critics at the time.
Kindergarten Cop is also fun to watch, highly recommend that one. And True Lies, that one is amazing.
For more comedy, there are Twins, Jingle all the Way and even Junior, though that one makes me uncomfortable.
And for other Arnold movies there is Barbar Conan and the sequel...
There are so many Arnolds movies, I cannot list them all.
Last Action Hero was one of the first major, mainstream movies to dive into what we now call "meta" storytelling, and man, people were NOT ready for it. Going back and watching it now, it's brilliant what they were doing, but Boomer movie critics were just so confused.
@@wolfofthewest8019 Yeah, the movie came ahead of its time.
@@wolfofthewest8019 The film also had a rocky production. The studio head, Mark Canton, rushed it without allowing any time to do proper reshoots and editing because he thought he could beat *Jurassic Park,* and even test-screened an unfinished version of rhe film. There was no way to avoid bad buzz under those circumstances.
Yeah, Last Action Hero is awesome, it's was a satire on the state of action movies at that time lampooning all the tropes of a typical Arnie style blockbuster
I really should watch "Last Action Hero" again. It was pitted against "Jurassic Park" in a competitive way, and why not what with Schwarzenegger coming off "Terminator 2." I wanted to like it; it appeared to have all the ingredients I wanted with Schwarzenegger, big action scenes, and John McTiernan as director. I don't think I have seen it since.
Regarding the tree Arnold is carrying at the beginning, that is not a real tree. If I remember correctly there was a throwaway story in an interview where Arnold said the crew wanted him to carry a real tree and he had to explain to them that even he is not that strong which caught them quite by surprise.
His nickname back then was The Austrian Oak😎
The differences between bodybuilder (which Arnie is) and strongmen are staggering.
Not to say bodybuilders aren't stronger than average because they totally are. But strongmen are in a whole other league.
I'm expecting some great cackles from this reaction video! Commando is so fun.
Absolutely wonderful reaction! I'm so happy you loved it! Commando is one of my all time favorite Arnold movies. It is the PERFECT 80s cheesy (in a good way) action movie! Also the perfect 90 minute action movie, it doesn't over stay it's welcome at all. The one liners, the action, the story. All of it. Just a great fun movie! Glad you enjoyed it!
Commando is my favorite 80's Arnold film so many great one liners my friends and I had it on repeat in the background while hanging out all the time growing up. We'd quote it at each other all the time.
It was the 2nd movie where he says “I’ll be back” and again in “The Running Man”, then it became his signature catch phrase since.😎
@@nickchang5293 my favorite is when he kills the guy on the plane and says don't bother him he's DEAD tired
15:32 You should see Antonio Banderas kicking ass as a mall cop in "Security" (2017). A recently retired Marine Captain desperate for employment to support his family in civilian life, Banderas takes a job as a security guard on the graveyard shift at a small town shopping mall. His first night on the job turns into a life and death battle to protect a little girl who has fled to his mall in the middle of the night pursued by a team of mercenaries that has just massacred the convoy of US Marshals who were transporting her as the key witness against a mob boss.
Great tip for an entertaining Film! It was a nice surprise when I reluctantly watched it for the first time. Good role for Banderas and the supporting cast is great as well. Banderas allways brings an interesting energy in most of his roles, like being the only good thing in Expendables 3 for instance!
This movie is completely ridiculous and over the top, and that is what makes it awesome.
This movie is freaking hilarious 😂
Especially Bennett getting super-charged after getting electrocuted 😂😂😂
LoveLaurenn, you say you loke 80's movies and Arnold? Yet, I don't see "Conan the Barbarian" in your movie list?
The tree is fake. Arnold had to tell the director that he couldn’t carry a real one…they thought he could! My favorite Arnold movie is “True Lies,” by James Cameron. Another fun 80’s flick with Rae Dawn Chong is “The Principal,” which also stars James Belushi. James Belushi stars with Arnold in another movie, “Red Heat,” also a fun movie. The actor playing Sully is best known for his role in “The Warriors.” I know you’d love that one. Another good one with him in is “Dreamscape.”
They also had to hang sully in a harness over that cliff, even though he’s a small dude he’s still too heavy to hold like that.
You might be able to carry a pine log like that simply by balancing it on your shoulder, but the sheer physics of the momentum of the wood when turning would make it difficult.
Body builders aren't necessarily strong, as their weight lifting is to shape muscles rather than build strength.
Look at weightlifters.
I also recommend watching the bodybuilding docudrama Pumping Iron, Conan the Barbarian, Raw Deal, The Running Man and Red Heat. This released the same year as Sylvester Stallone's films, Rambo: First Blood Part 2 and Rocky IV, both of which grossed over $300 million at the box office. Matrix's daughter is played by a young Alyssa Milano, while the bald guy is played by the same actor who played Mac in Predator. Cindy is played by Tommy Chong's daughter
This was my favourite movie as a kid. I remember the day it released in the video rental store. I was visiting my uncle in London with my parents and my uncle took me to the store to rent it. Man, I must've been about 6/7 years old at the time. The movie blew my tiny mind lol. Arnold looked like some kind of superhero to me. It's also the film where I got my first crush, Alyssa milano. 😂
Love this movie too saw it on tbs in 1998 I was 14 at the time 💛
I watched this movie so much as a kid that I have a lot of the movie’s dialogue completely memorized.
@@1massboy crazy how that stuff sticks in your head after all these year's.
@@mikesilva3868 shame they never did a follow up to it. I'd have liked to see that.
Thanks for sharing that memory Retro man! I didn't even realize that jenny was alyssa milano til afterwards when I looked up the cast! I was like wait WHAT!? lol Was a great movie, loved it. Thanks for watching😄
Laurenn, for more Arnie, check out the original Conan The Barbarian.
Also if you want to see villain " Bennet " ( great actor Vernon Wells ) in more villainous roles, check out Inner Space and Mad Max 2: Road Warrior.
In fact, you should watch the original Mel Gibson Mad Max trilogy, in order, as they are all fantastic.
I've always had a thing for the girl in this, from way back when she did Quest for Fire in 1981. Also being Tommy Chong 's daughter can't hurt.
This is a great movie Lauren, my dad loved this Movie!!
It came out a few months after Rambo 2 and my dad thought Rambo was much better for its seriousness, but I liked Commando more for its silliness😆
Saw an interview with Arnie where he said Vernon Wells (Bennet) was the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet, and then the director would call action and he'd turn into a very scary crazy man. Great reaction as per usual 👍
Fun fact...well, goof but when John is chasing Sully and crashes into the lamppost for a split blink and you'll miss it second you can see the dummy of Cindy's head fly off before it cuts back to John asking "Are you alright?"
First of all...anyone else waiting for a compilation of LoveLaurenn's Arnold-isms 😂🤣
First watched this when it aired on TV here in the UK years and years ago. I heard somewhere that this was supposed to be an answer to Sly Stallone's Rambo. That interaction between Matrix and Cook while fighting.... 'I eat green berets for breakfast', was supposed to be a shot at Rambo LOL !!
After all these years, its still one of those movies you can enjoy after the 50th time. Cheesy, gung-ho, gratuitously violent and non-sensical...I miss these types of movies !!
That's not a bad idea lmao I may have to do a compilation of my impressions of Arnie I think it would be silly😂Thanks for sharing your experience and love of this film! I definitely enjoyed it too, even the cheesy one-liners--I enjoyed that the most actually🤣
Conan the original movie. Barely any dialogue and it's.... fantastic!
Oh and if your really all about those 80's check out Class of -Nuke em High- -Toxic Avenger- series. Embrace the chaos of the 80's
I'm 6'2", I like the aisle seat on a plane so I can stretch my legs out. I'm a big fan of the 80's Arnold action movies, he was usually an ex military badass with very funny one liners.
"He Was In Terminator And Aliens"
His name's Bill Paxton, he was also in True Lies costarring with Arnold as well as being in Predator 2 and a whole bunch of other movies
Cheesiest action movie ever but still sooooo good 😂. If anyone other than Arnold was the star this would be a forgotten B movie but no can deliver one liners like “Let off some steam, Bennett” with a straight face like Schwarzenegger.
Lauren,
No. NONE of that backroom stuff is sold at a surplus store. Even in the 80s. This was meant as a black market secret room the store owner had to sell illegal weapons of all kinds.
Yes there are instructions on the side of a rocket launcher (the 4 barrel used, was a M202 FLASH). The idea is to make it simplified so even an idiot who can hopefully read use it.
Came here to say this. Likewise there are instructions on Claymore anti-personnel mines that say "Front Toward Enemy"
In only her second movie role, a very young Alyssa Milano.
The action, one-liners, and body count quickly grows in this classic Arnie film.
Me and my brother used to watch this on VHS every day after school back in the good old days!
Regarding the big guns and recoil, an M60 is usually fired from a helicopter on a mount, or on the ground on a tripod, there is zero chance you could shoot one from the hip and hope to hit anything with any degree of accuracy. Arnie and Sly have both mentioned in more recent interviews about the ridiculousness of the gun physics in their movies, as they both went higher and higher in an attempt to trump each other.
Chuck Norris also did it in his MIA flicks but he wielded his M60 with both arms, since he wasn’t as buff as Arnie or Stallone😅
When I was in in boot camp in 1987 the ability to shoot an M60 from the hip was laughably discussed by the sergeant instructors for US Weapons.
I also remember sometime around that day being called into the senior drill sergeant's refreshingly cool air-conditioned office, where he was giving myself and a few other nobody privates the low-down on the next morning's detail we were assigned to do.
"Invasion USA" was playing on his office television. It was at the end of the movie when Chuck Norris brings out his light anti-tank weapon and shoots it from the hip and blows the villain, Klaus Kinski, somewhere into next week.
I distinctly remember my sergeant's redneck-accented, post-Vietnam voice as we all watched that movie's segment in totality, "Was that the correct deployment of an M72 LAW, privates?"
ua-cam.com/video/VdWhkdyl9bY/v-deo.html
"NO SERGEANT!"
Remembering that brings a smile to my face even to this day...
Best to you-
Funniest thing about recoil in this movie is that when Rae Dawn Chong fires the rocket the wrong way it has no effect on her, but when she fires correctly she gets dumped on her kiester...
@@dezzconnor8360 her recoil was for comedic affect. Rocket launchers, even a quad-barrel, are recoilless.😆

Good eye ! It's Bill Paxton :) I loved that guy. It really saddened me when he suddenly passed away. He was also in Predator 2. Another movie you could check some day. Very underrated sequel.
As for Commando - I grew up on Arnold's movies so what can I say, absolute classic. Thanks for the lovely movie reaction :)
Great 80's Movies - Conan The Barbarian - Highlander - 48 Hour - The Howling - The Hitcher - Blade Runner - Fright Night - Lost Boys
It's such a ridiculous plot, but somehow fun to watch anyway...
And if you enjoy the Arnold Noises, you're going to love Conan the Barbarian...lol
THAT IS A REACTION I WAIT FOR !
David Patrick Kelly (Sully) is one of my favorite bad-guy actors, he just oozes maliciousness.
He was great baddies in The Warriors, Dreamscape and The Crow
If Arnold was shooting REAL ammo, then yes there would be a tons of recoil and he would NOT be able to hold it with one hand like that. Blank loads only have enough power to cycle the action of the gun and give a little fire ball out of the barrel. Otherwise there is no recoil. The .308 round the M60 fires has serious recoil and any full auto .308 rifle is very hard to control which is why the gun manufacturing world makes more semi-auto rifles than full auto in .308 with a few exceptions.
I also noticed the leaves from the bushes getting shredded from his M60 on close ups so it had to be live ammo. The thing that was totally bogus was him blowing up all those buildings with claymores, which was ridiculous lol.😂
Sooooo glad you watched this!! NEXT UP: You MUST MUST MUST… ‘tis a MORAL IMPERATIVE that you watch THE RUNNING MAN!!!
If you want to see a genuinely good 80s action movie I recommend The Road Warrior. But you'd want to start with the first one, Mad Max. The Road Warrior has the Bennett actor in it. He's nuts in that as well.

Mad Max is the Forbidden Planet and the The Citizen Kane of post-apocalyptic films.
Everything else like it is an inferior knock-off, even its wonderful sequels.
She should see Mad Max first...
I mean, who didn't love the line:
"My friend wants his hand back..."
(I could go on all day...)
I once saw it on a VH1 pop-up video where I learned that the actor who played Toecutter spoke with a different accent in every scene just to sell how crazy his character really was.
Yeah, she should definitely see Mad Max first.
It is beyond a classic. For a low-budget film, it succeeds where many, many blockbuster, A-list, high-budget, copious-CGI flicks fail miserably.
Mad Max ☆☆☆☆☆

This was Arnie's first movie after the success of The Terminator and it was a little weird for me as I was actually used to Arnie being the "bad guy". I had only seen two of Arnie's films by then with The Terminator and Conan the Barbarian (Arnie had a few films under his belt but these were his two breakout films in the early 1980s).
I was 15 years old when I watched this in the theatre in 1985. This was non-stop action and came out the same year as "Rambo: First Blood pt 2" with Sylvester Stallone. Arnold and Stallone were in direct competition with each other as to who would be the top Action Star of the decade. By the way you should definitely watch the Rambo films starting with First Blood from 1982.
Damn was this movie ever a cathartic release watching him kick everyone ass!
Again- great reaction!

Hell yeah i definitely enjoyed your reaction it was awesome. Gotta love arnold i mean this was back in his prime and he used to be a real body builder in the early 70"s. I personally subscribed to your channel and would love to see more of your videos. You are awesome
My dad and I watched Rambo 2 and Commando together in Theaters, because I wasn’t old enough then to go into an R movie by myself. He liked Rambo a lot more because it had higher production values and more serious tone, so he called Commando a cheap Rambo knock-off lol. That was actually the reason why I liked Commando more, so I watched it again with my friend and his parents in a theater a week later, and many times on VHS, DVD and HD since.😁
"Hey, That Guy Was In 'Predator' "
Yup, that's Bill Duke, who played Mac in Predator, he also costars with Carl Weathers in "Action Jackson"
I love it - every vehicle blows up with 500 gallons of petrol. Rae Dawn Chong's constant screaming would be a good model for Mrs. Steven Spielberg's screams in INDY JONES & TEMPLE OF DOOM.
This movie easily has some of the best Arnold one-liners of his career 👏
"True Lies" is the best non Terminator/Predator Arnold Schwarzenegger movie! It’s really a great movie! PS ~Jamie Lee Curtis is in it too! "Bennet" played the guy with the Mohawk in "Mad Max: The Road Warrior"
28:44 after he hacks off the arm, apparently Arnie gave the one-liner "do you need a hand?". This was cut from the film as considered in bad taste.
Interesting fact, that guy who got his arm lopped off has been in soooooo many cool action flicks. Running man, one of the robocops, raw deal just to name a few. I think he was also a stunt man
This movie is 80's cheese at its best!
The one liners are awesome!
It's pretty obvious that this movie is a satire on action movies.
... And then they made a satire of this movie called: ''The Last Action Hero'' (1993) 😅👍
The latest rage seems to be calling everything from the '80s cheesy..
Cheesy: adjective. If you describe something as cheesy, you mean that it is cheap, unpleasant, or insincere.
This movie isn't low budget, it's rather entertaining not unpleasant and it has tongue-in-cheek humor - not insincere at all. I don't see how it is cheesy.
@@PinnaclePete yea cheese has kinda lost its meaning...
I feel the same way about the seats. Middle is the worst but window or aisle, I can make them work. Odd fact, I’m a huge twilight zone fan so I want to one day get a window seat right over/next to the wing and play the theme music (loud enough for others to hear) as I look out the window.
😂😂😂love that
I hope you do Conan the Barbarian 1982..Arnie’s first box office hit.
FYI, Bennett was played by Vernon Wells who played Wez (mohawk guy) in The Road Warrior.
"Crazy Bastard??, You Took His Daughter"
Proof that there's nothing that a devoted dad wouldn't do to help his child
I love the frequent "I'm/he's gonna smash your face in" type foreshadowing in the film!
Yep. You're right again. Bill Paxton was the blue haired punk in The Terminator and one of the Colonial Marines in Aliens. And if you watch Predator 2, you'll see him again as a cop. -OG
22:02 "get in loser, we're going shopping" you should have voiced dubbed it so Arnold was saying that to the girl 😂 a true classic, Rae Dawn Chong is the daughter of Tommy Chong, from "Cheech and Chong" two characters from the 70's and 80's pot head movies. great reaction! 👍
Just answer a few questions for you about commando
1 the radar radio officer is Bill Plaxton aka Hudson in Aliens and Jerry lambert in Predator 2
2, Yes that was a real tree trunk Arnie was carrying on his shoulder.
3, Yes all the guns are real! They are just firing blanks! Hope this helps explain a few things!
Love all your reactions to films see you soon.😊😊😊😊
This is one of my all time favourite action movies. So quotable and just a fun ride all around. Can’t wait to see what other great classics you will find :)
Side note… have you played the most recent God of War?
More classic 80's Arnold Sweet!
I remember seeing this in the theater when I was 10.
Cindy's little red sports car is either a Sunbeam Alpine or Sunbeam Tiger
Laurenn your reactions are so fun and expressive. Your humor always improves my mood.
Cindy's character man lol! Goes from normal citizen doing intelligent stuff like trying to escape kidnapping to firing rockets at cop paddy wagon's in like 2 hours flat!! : D I saw this last when I was like 14. I probably thought it was so realistic at it's time. Thanks for posting.
Arnold made some seriously good films in the 80's and early 90's, Conan is worth watching. Do you recognize the young girl who played Jenny? She goes on to play Phebe in Charmed
29:20 It's complicated. AKs don't really have a ton of recoil, but more than other guns like AR-15s, but even light recoiling guns can be hard to control on full auto. One shot is just one little push, but a bunch in rapid succession will usually cause the muzzle to rise. To answer your question, they're kind of real guns, but modified to fire blanks, that have a gun powder charge but no bullet, and blanks have much less recoil than normal cartridges firing bullets cuz physics. It's firing blanks that made it so easy to control. That's a "real AK" modified and firing blanks that he's shooting in that scene.
That guy you recognized from terminator and aliens is Bill Paxton. Pretty famous dude, was also in predator 2, true lies, apollo 13, twister and titanic
This is pure action movie gold. It's one of a few films that I can quote the alternative takes shown on the blu ray. I'm that sad! This and The Running Man are Arnold are his most over the top (not the Stallone movie) best. In fact if I may make a suggestion for a future movie, watch The Running Man. You'll have a blast.
Lauren, the actress who plays Arnold's daughter in this movie is A really young Alyssa Milano( she was about 8 or 9 when they'd filmed this movie)
Great to see Freddy Mercury as "Bennet" fight Arnold in the final fight scene. Here I thought Freddy was only a great singer. Didn't know he can act. 😃👍
If you noticed, those weapons John got from the Surplus Store were not part of the stores public display. They were kept in a secret room. Makes no sense for a store like that to have that many weapons, especially an M202 rocket launcher, or that John would know that the store even had weapons on site in a locked room. The machine-gun John was using doesn't have an overwhelming amount of a recoil, but it is heavier than a normal rifle. Probably not an issue for someone with Arnold's build, but the weapon itself isn't very accurate fired with one hand. In most scenes he is firing from the hip, and the accuracy would be terrible. A good 80's action movie.
I love how he just unceremoniously takes out the head bad guy, no big monologues or drawn out scene or anything, just a quick shootout, then blasts him repeatedly with a shotgun. Kind of like how he just blasts the guy in the beginning "Wrong." *BLAM* He knows the bad guys won't keep up their end of the deal and would kill his daughter anyway, so might as well not do what they want and try to save her, best chances in that bad scenario. Makes a lot more sense to me than giving the bad guys what they want and having them kill your family anyway. That always bugs me in movies and TV. Also, even if they were going to keep their word, my family members would not want me to start a civil war and get lots of innocent people killed to save them. One life vs many...
I love films like this where Arnie legit has superhuman strength and no-one bats an eyelid. 😂😂😂
Lauren,
Did you notice to goof when Matrix's truck crashes at the bottom of the hill? Exhaust smoke was pumping out of the tailpipe big time indicating the engine was running even though it was suppose to be disabled.
Awesome thank you for reacting to Commando! This is my favourite movie that I’ve grown up with.
The filmmakers wanted Arnie to actually hold Sully like that, to which Arnie said Are you crazy I can't do that!
Well if you've gone this far back you may as well go all the way back. Conan The Barbarian and Raw Deal are both fun watches. Conan The Destroyer is decent enough but that's your decision.
In my teens I did an unofficial death count on one of my many viewings of this film. I had to concirvatively round things a bit with the buildings he blew up. But in the end I think I came up with something like 327 deaths. It wouldn't surprise me if there's a site or someone else out there these days that has a count as well. Fun film.
In case you were wondering, Arnold killed 81 people in this movie. Just a little bit more than 1st John Wick.
Commando the water downed Rambo, still love it. After watching this you have to give Raw Deal a try. LOL
