So great to see "Fruit Growers Express " cars! These cars were built in the yards located off S. Quaker Lane at Duke Street (Rt. 236) in the 1940-50, real pictures are at the Aldie Mill, near Gilbert's Corner in Virginia. FGE, was in Alexandria, Virginia. They often used Potomac Yards, near Crystal City, Va and load dry ice off Rt.1

Wonderful and enjoyable. My HO rolling stock and track have been packed up since 1978. It's amazing how technologically advanced model railroading has become. Fiber optics instead of a bulb in the loco cab, signaling, remote control, CTC, etc.. I guess my 2 AHM transformers are outdated, too.

Stunning detail from back yards factories to bluffs, ridges rock formations. A natural blend of land scaping foliage to roadbed all are great. Only regret no overall perspective which would have made the video a lot more enjoyable.

Yay! Southern Railway, "Tuxedos," even in the green passenger scheme, which might not be technically incorrect, seeing as SR used RS1s/RS3s on passenger trains. I rode an Atlanta/Birmingham Special once, back in 1971 and it had an RS1 as the lead locomotive.
And, Seaboard Coast Line - another one of my favorites. Someone should run a SCL "Silver Star," passenger train and put that on You Tube.
    Nice, pinstriped Pennsy passenger train.
Great layout - nice colors, lots of scenic details, good train speeds. I'd have to be a grouchy old curmudgeon to find something wrong with this.

fwiw, back in the mid 1970s, the PC/CR train,,,COSR and counterpart SRCO ran between cincinnati and columbus.
Southern to columbus or columbus to Southern.
power would be a PC SD35 or SD40 with 2 SR SD24s. even by the mid 1970s , those SD24s were relics.
by the late 1970s SR replaced the SD24s with SD35s. eventually SD40 and SD45s would replace the SD35s. columbus(buckeye yarD) was the only yard built new as PC. NS closed about 2004.
for a short time around 1980, SR power could be seen on the Chessie cinci-toledo line.
this was the only time I ever saw SR and chessie power mixed.
    also note.
PC ordered in the ealy 1970s, a small batch of U23Bs with dual control stands, for long hood running.
these were stationed at buckeye for use in the SR run through trains to cinci, and beyond.
I remember seeing only 1 time a U23B doing this. otherwise PC/CR used 6 axle power.
I can only guess the U23Bs were not liked on this run. 16 locos in the 2750-2776 were so equipped.

It would have sounded better if this was called railways, for thats exactly what it is, a railway, not a railroad where rail is rail and road is road. Railways are for trains, whereas roads are for all pneumatic vehicles. How do you justify a railway being a road to call it rail road? It makes no sense. This model railway setting is fantastic. But did you notice something? There are no roads there, that's why it not a rail road. As plain as I can see it, it's definitely a railway. Where is the road, hey?

    • @JBofBrisbane
      @JBofBrisbane 4 роки тому +2

"Railroad" is the common usage term for these in North America, particularly the USA. The French "chemin de fer" translates into English as "road of iron", even though the rails have been steel since the late nineteenth century. Similarly the German "bahn" (e.g. Deutsche Bundesbahn, Deutsche Reichsbahn) also translates as "road". Your reasoning does not hold up.
