Do love this realistic long freight trains and the adequate number of signals on this layout, mostly one misses them. Extra credits for the lightning of the signal boxes and the original idea of a military convoy! Only the CAT equipment on a flat board in one of your freight trains doesn't quite fit into the time frame you choose for this layout!
You made a beautiful layout and took an excellent video of it. I especially liked the cliff it went past, all the buildings, the many rights of way, and of course the railroad yard with all the cars. I've made three small layouts, starting when I was in my early teens, the first two in HO and a small 2'x 4' N-gauge layout in a box. I appreciate all the hard work and attention to detail. Well done and thanks for the entertaining experience.
Wow guys! Well done. Thanks! I really noticed the interior and porch lights, well done, not to over look all the other details! Amazing, good conducting as well.
In my youth, I wanted to build a layout in the worst way. It obsessed me. My wife totally supported me and every birthday and Xmas I received more and more train stuff. But, as I built my layout and started expanding it, i found that the real adventure was in the constant building of it, not the actual running of it. I would eventually run out of room and then the fun would end. So, I gave away my train stuff and went into model aircraft flying, where the fun was in the flying- the actual operation of the models. Trains, for me, were a dead end. I respect anyone who can keep going on with trains. This layout is fantastic. But,. it really needs ever more expansion, doesn't it?
Thanks for uploading this video as I immediately recognised the layout since I’m a member of the CFRRM club and have recorded 98% of my HO/OO scale videos at the club for my channel. Even after being a member for the last 8 years, I still find the layout to be amazing and I’m always discovering new (to me) things on the layout that I missed. As far as some of the thoughts posted, I’d like to address them if I could. Someone noted how clean the layout is and wondered about dust etc., well there’s usually a Saturday every few weeks or so where some of the members get together to clean the tracks and dust off the layout. Every week there’s maintenance to address various issues and as far as weathering of locomotives and rolling stock is concerned, that’s entirely up to those who own their locomotives and rolling stock as to how much if at all weathering they want to apply to their equipment as that’s an individual preference. Lastly regarding there being no passenger rail in this video, which club members were present when this video was being recorded and what they were running at that time explains the lack of passenger rail in the video. I believe the vast majority of our members tend to run freight whereas I personally love and have more of passenger rail stock than I do freight. Again, it’s a matter of preference and who was at the club and what they were running at the time of this video recording. It’s a beautiful layout and quite large too. Please visit: centralfloridarailroadmodelers.com Thanks and please visit us particularly on Open House events!
@@JRandallEllis Exactly. It should not change to red until he enters the block being protected by that signal. Compare it to the sequence at 8:17 to 8:18 which is the way it should be done. Not sure if signals were changing automatically or required a human hand pressing a switch. Best viewed at 1/4 speed.
That signal dumped. In the real world your stopping your train and calling the dispatcher. No emergency brake just good train handling and a safe stop.
Very nice layout. What I find interesting that if you pay attention to the actual trains on the big layouts. With “miles and miles” of track to run on so many people run itty bitty trains. I am talking about the number of cars being 4 - 7 tops. It’s very common with modelers and I am curious as to why it’s so common to see? I like the long trains just like in the real world. 20+ cars winding around the layout is very cool yet not that common. 🤔🤔
Great video! You've done some great work panning slowly and carefully too so the image doesn't blur up on motion, thanks for that. Allows us to enjoy the video that much more. Might I suggest getting a cheap gimbal for your camera? Will remove all the handshake out and allow you to relax and take video more easily with less overall concentration. Get an extendable boom for it and you can pull off some pseudo-drone shots too.
All it ever said at the end of all my rolling stock builds was " weather using your favorite method " mine is let it get dusty then spray with matte.....before the kids pick it up and put figure prints on it
Wow. Just Wow. I dont know any thing about model trains. but do you guys n goils run these beautiful trains at a scale speed in relation to layouts etc
Very impressive layout and excellent video! In my openion a little bit weathering of the locos and the rolling stock would make it perfect. Regards from "Der Z-Crack" modelrailroadvideos in scale Z
Nice layout, but way too clean. Regarding the filming, I felt like I was a bird flying above the countryside. Weren't you able to get the camera down where us humans usually are located?
can some railroader tell me, why did passenger trains,'REAL ONES!" use two three or more engines to pull 10 to 15 passenger cars ? I know some units had two engines in them, but why the extra power! I could see it on a freight traines with 40 to 100 cars but staineless steel passenger cars wernt that heavy. was it for extra traction?
I am teribly sorry but how can the whole scenario (cars, buildings) be quite old (1940-1950) but the trains are modern diesels? It is beutiful but the locomotives dont quite fit into the scene

Wow I love trains such a great setup I remember as a kid looking at all the Lionel train sets in catalog. Now I enjoy rail fanning. The time it took the money it cost UNBELIEVABLE! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL layout👏👏👏👏👏
The more realistic the layout, the more adorable the layout.
Beautiful layout and the car loads are next level awesome. Great job filming too . Thanks for the video
Amazing what people working together toward a common goal can achieve. Beautiful layout. Now all you need are some scale airplanes circling above.
You know you have a very nice layout.
Great looking layout
Superb layout
Awesome layout
What a set up, gotta give him credit. Love it.
its a Club layout
Excellent!

Wow, that's a cool system, madness. Very nice.

Enjoyable video! Nice layout! Might try a little weathering on your locomotives and rolling stock!

I've visited the club a couple of times. The club's layout really is amazing! ...Roy
Thanks this is so cool to watch
This is a very nice layout!
This is an amazing collection. 😊😊👍
At 8:40 CP engine 6046 runs a red signal and is not thrown into emergency braking.
Watch the signal a split second before he passes it. It goes from green to red.

Hello,
very nice shots that I like the video very well. Thumbs up.

Love the layout but would like to see more of the scenery and buidings then follow a train around.
Fantástico! . Gracias.
I was surprised to see a metallurgical coke works at 0:38-0:43! I used to build them at real steel mills!

I have a small collection of H-O trains. Mostly vintage types. And hardly any tracks. I hope that some day i can have something close to this.
Another fine example of something totally nuts that came from Florida (in a good way of course)
Сколько же времени займёт сделать эту красоту?
Why is the front truck of #7322 illuminated?
I love the layout but nothing seems to be properly weathered. All cars of the train, buildings, vehicles, etc seem too pristine and too clean
All it ever said at the end of all my rolling stock builds was " weather using your favorite method "
mine is let it get dusty then spray with matte.....before the kids pick it up and put figure prints on it
Como puedo compral tren y varios mettos de via soy cubano vivo en la habana. Saludos
terrific

I would've liked this one better if it was steam and not diesel.
My wife just said... “How on earth does he keep it clean and dust free”? 😆

Rolf Jander still it’s impressive how he kept it clean

What will happen to it when you can’t model anymore?
I am teribly sorry but how can the whole scenario (cars, buildings) be quite old (1940-1950) but the trains are modern diesels? It is beutiful but the locomotives dont quite fit into the scene
Really nice layout, but, sorry, my heart belongs to "O" Gauge-and steam engines (of which I glimpsed only two here, not moving.
