oh heck yeah. monte carlo is a wonderful choice and perfectly synergizes with the build. I just like the fast ttk, range, and ability to peak shoot with stars in shadow. monte carlo has massive sex appeal
The video is pretty informative. Although I chuckled a bit because when I actually watched the background gameplay I was thrown off because there was a lot of dying lol.
haha yeah, as of right now I don’t quite care to edit clips to just make myself look good. I didn’t think there’d be much of a point and that it’s cool to just have real gameplay where I can try different weapons and play leisurely, like with the sniper clips.
I agree cutting clips can feel like it makes you or the build look good but in the end it’s how it’s used by the player. It was refreshing to see you stick to showing the raw gameplay of using the build. Realistically the utility is great and I actually tried it out and I definitely know how to use the smoke bomb more tactically now. Great video and helpful tips.
I’ve been a khepris main in trials since it got reworked for D2. Imo it’s damn near worthless now - due to the nerf patched in with Lightfall’s release. Not being able to proc truesight on shadow dive or standing in smoke really destroyed the utility in a big way. That + losing the +20 from powerful friends and the +20 from radiant light just absolutely tanked my triple 100 build. I’ve since switched to use Gemini jester which is honestly way more useful in comparison currently.
yeah i got my triple 100 tanked too, but although khepri’s isn’t borderline busted like before, i still think it’s really good. i feel like anybody that’s sleep on it is just hurting themselves and at the end of the day, good players will still end up being very successful with it-whatever minority they happen to be in. obviously there’s plenty of other good options so not realizing how good khepri’s is now won’t hurt too much, but people are generally just resistant to change and can let that cloud their judgement because its not what they’re accustomed to seeing. there was a time where high impact pulses were practically just as good as they are now, yet i was in the minority for using them. ofc the sandbox is always changing, but i’ve seen plenty of metas come to rise after literally years of being ignored just for the entire pvp community come to have an epiphany, much like they did with the old khepri’s. (also only my opinion/insight)
@@forzafortysix3467 I’m a Khepri main since d1, lol. From back when it gave Nightstalkers the invisibility ability from Blade-dancer and allowed you to one-shot melee. I personally feel that anybody who actually thinks it’s worthless is just kidding themselves. It’s not a must use exotic because there are plenty of other good exotics, but all it did was go from an S-tier borderline broken exotic, to an A-tier exotic jam packed with utility and neutral game. The only difference is that it’s not on command, but you can chain your uptime of the smoke from the increased regen and still have the new synergies from the reworked perk. Great players are going to make good use of this exotic while it’s being slept on by everyone else. Keep an eye out for good Hunters in the content scene like the guys from Firing range, and I bet you’ll eventually see either some usage of the exotic from them, and/or some praise for it.
Going invis for whatever reason stops the boosted regeneration of the melee. Hence, it's better to play further back as you can't use invis whenever you want and still keep the uptime on your melee.
yes, you’re absolutely right about that, but at the same time you can actually dodge and throw a second melee to refresh the energy regeneration buff after you’ve canceled it from invis. that’s one of the reasons I use gamblers dodge because it allows me to continue to play aggressively, if I desire, and refresh the buff if i cancel it-whether it be accidentally or intentionally.
Love the ideal of this. I've been running a solar proximity knife and trip mine grenade build in pvp but for this void one it looks like you need to be good at pvp and I still kinda suck lol
Haha, that’s alright man. That’s one of the joys I find behind builds like these. The skill floor is relatively high, but so is the skill ceiling, despite the learning curve. But those solar builds can be super fun and potent as heck! I’ve got one in store for here on the channel :)
@@THEaubooster looking forward to it. I love the ideal of setting traps and set ups in general. I lt just brings a different perspective to pvp beyond just search and shoot. When I'm using the solar build I mentioned earlier I'm baiting people to rush me while having a proximity knife ready to be tossed with a trip mine ready to hit them as soon as they get In range.
My Stars in Shadow has 82 Range (with Accurized Rounds and a Range Masterwork), 68 Stability & Handling (while crouched thanks to Firmly Planted) and also has Headseeker
Firmly planted is a great perk that has amazing functionality under the hood. The high-impact pulse frame bonuses work in tandem with the bonuses from firmly planted, so they naturally play wonderfully together and it creates a top-tier choice as far as perks go on this gun, especially if one incorporates “crouching” into their gameplay a lot.
Nice video, i love khepris they are fun to use especially when truesight is active, but i lf we going to talk about confusing the enemy team i think the best exotic in terms of flanking and disorienting is gemini jesters with invis + snare bomb, especially in comp or trials with close maps like Endless vale, jesters are more flexible in terms of flanking while invis because when u remove radar on the enemy team u have a couple seconds to jump/sprint while invis without worrying about being pinged on radar. The bad thing is that jesters don’t work well in all maps
yes I have a jester build, i’m going to be featuring on the channel once i finish putting the polish on it. Khepri’s is definitely not the best for radar manipulation, it just helps you out because of the the +melee regen and it also does a lot outside of just radar manipulation as well, so it’s very versatile. Jester and Omnioculus are great competitors to put over Khepri’s in the radar manipulation department, though.
Stars in shadow is my favorite pulse, it was the first pulse I could get the 2 burst reliably, not even my adept messenger could do so before the changes. My Surplus + Elemental capacitor has 2607 pvp kills. Void and stasis subclasses felt incredible, I ran hunter and warlock builds back then.
Good question. At the moment there’s not much merit to matching weapon energy type to subclass, so it made sense to instead just focus on elemental capacitor. The pulse from gambit is a 390 which requires 3 bursts and has a slower ttk. There’s some interesting things you can do with it, but not for this build. Gridskipper is good, but similar instance where it has a slightly worse ttk, and it’s high fire rate causes you to peak from cover longer as opposed to Stars in Shadow being a 340rpm (lowest fire rate/high damage bursts), allowing shorter, more impactful peaks, and a shorter ttk at only 0.67seconds-vs. 0.80seconds!
i disagree w you there buddy. i wouldn’t use veles over any high-impact pulse unless its with gyrfalcons to pair with repulsor brace. having to longer ttk with limited benefits just isn’t that nice to me.
@@THEaubooster Huh? Veles isn't a lightweight. It also can 2 burst (It's a 4 round burst aggressive). Regardless, I hate the weapon but still your reasoning doesn't make sense? Unless I misinterpreted
ah yeah that’s my bad, I misspoke because aggressive-frames and lightweight-frames have the same rpm (450). But my point is that even if Veles does two burst, as well-because it’s an aggressive-burst-the ttk is longer and so are each of the bursts, so you have to peak from cover longer and it takes longer to kill. Using a good high-impact just provides a faster ttk with what’s also a two-burst, but allows you to have quicker, cleaner peaks because they’re shorter, more powerful bursts. And with my roll on Stars, I get a much better handling effect than Veles, creating just an overall better feeling and faster killing weapon. That’s why I mentioned the only time I’d use Veles like that is in a use case similar to that of Gyrfalcon’s, where it has some synergy and can be enhanced and thereby be more competitive/feel better.
Unfortunately khepris utility loss just makes it less useful in comparison to something like Omni . Even after the nerf Omni allows me to completely scramble the enemy team. Plus the slight amount of damage resist does come into play quite well still. Two smokes along with a smoke whenever you dodge near a target truly can cause chaos on an enemy team when they think they are fighting 3 people instead of just one. You might want to give it a try. Could help you out getting into the higher ranks.
oh yeah you’re definitely not wrong about how good omni is. trust me, if anybody gets it, it’s me. like i said in the video, I’ve spent a stupid amount of hours on Nighstalker and Omni is in my top 3. That being said, I can speak on both exotics without bias, and like I’ve told someone else in the comments, Omni is definitely better for radar manipulation, but Khepri simply brings different things to the table, like more damage on the smoke (lethality) and wayyy greater access to truesight (utility)-which is stupid valuable as well. Hate to keep quoting myself, but it’s like I said in the vid, they’re like two sides to a coin, where radar manipulation is one side, and truesight is the other. one is taking away enemy intel, or as you said scrambling it, whereas truesight is gaining your own very very valuable intel. both are really good and although omni is outright better at radar manipulation Khepri gets a little boost in that department from the +regen speed anddd is massively expanding your ability to use/play off of truesight, so the utility is just wayy up there. They are both just great exotics in there own right and can bring a lot to the table if somebody knows how to use them well. I plan on making an Omni video for this series because, like i said, it’s one of my most used and favorites, but the amount people sleep on Khepri’s is insane. I think the true spectacle would be having the two of them used together, with good coordination.
Many people do in fact not think nightstalker is a dead subclass, rather spectral blades specifically, all void subclasses are possibly the best of the 5
just as many people do not think it is dead, many people do, as well. especially after the invisibility nerf made not long ago. there was a lot of negative sentiment towards void hunter because a lot of its high usage stemmed from invisibility, aside from specifically the use of Khepri’s because Khepri’s had more to do with truesight on command rather than invis on command. that’s why invis got nerfed-leading to Khepri’s becoming too potent as the popular replacement for the viability of invisibility to the point it got nerfed as well. i experienced a lot of the negative sentiment towards the subclass firsthand, which was one of the driving factors behind focusing on this build, as it’s the predecessor to that meta.
I'm pretty sure Zen Moment would be similarly helpful as elemental capacitor with reducing the recoil. Not sure what weapons that applies to exactly though or if it matters at all.
yes that’s a good point! zen moment would also be a good option to serve a similar purpose. only major functionality difference i can think of is the very minor activation cost of zen moment (dealing damage) vs. the passive bonus granted by elemental cap. it really boils down to what you value more.
But like athryr's embrace exists. Plus with a pulse/smg meta, procing weighted knife for instant kills is incredibly easy. Plus being able to generate orbs on powered melee final blows is extremely beneficial, and even if you miss the knife, you can easily refund it with a dodge. The amount of setup and baiting to get an opponent to walk into your smoke seems a bit jarring and almost breaks the flow instead of being able to proc a few bursts for weighted knife and hail marrying a knife. Plus its fun to one shot.
All of that is true. Athrys’s is very good and is worthy of having its own video in the future, but I don’t feel that what it provides takes away from what Khepri’s can do. Athrys’s is more lethality focused and Khepri’s a little more utility based, so i think it makes more sense to perhaps use them together rather than putting them against each other. They can thrive as our bug buddies, together.
@@THEaubooster I'll take what I can get lol. I used to love khepri's before it was nerfed because of the information you could get out of it. Still can, but takes a lot more setup to get it. But I've been playing blink hunter with raiju's harness for the incredible movement and massive uptime on the super.
@@rainbowhippos9035 yeah i’ve seen a couple people say similar things about how it “takes setup” and things of that nature, but the truth is, all of the functionality of the exotic lies in enhancing/buffing your gameplay passively. everything you would do normally on a nightstalker is just made better. nothing really has a “need” to be setup. it can just passively benefit your gameplay, but you’re being provided the option to use those tools more intricately, if you desire. end of the day though, if you don’t want to setup of a smoke as a decoy or trap, then you can throw it directly at an opponent to get a kill and chain truesight
Overall, I thought it was very well explained, but the inconsistency between the old gameplay and the explanation was a bother. Also you wanna add chapters to a video of this length, as well as link your sources in the description, such as the invis explanation you mentioned.
Great tips! I’ll definitely be doing those things for future videos, I was just on a time crunch for this one and couldn’t fit in all the minute things quite yet. But I hope the video was concise enough in laying out the components of the build in a clear manner aside from the background gameplay. If there’s any confusion, everything in regard to the build is layed out and explained in-depth in the video, so you can go by that, not the background gameplay.
Khepri’s Sting got reworked and it no longer procs truesight with the use of Trapper’s Ambush. Instead it works with the effects I describe in the video.
trapper’s ambush no longer grants truesight through activation of Khepri’s Sting. Khepri’s Sting now grants truesight through hitting enemies with your smoke effect. so if you toss a smoke at an opponent, an opponent enters the radius of a smoke, or you hit an opponent with an “uncharged melee attack” while you’re smoke is fully charged, then you will immediately be granted truesight for the duration of 3s. hopefully that makes sense and I could help!
Ya i used to be khepris main but unfortunately i think that now its B tier its just not worth using over other exotics like omni, stompes, or even graviton forfeit. If you could make a build with omni or graviton i would love that
Prior to the rework, Khepri’s was S-Tier. Now, I feel that it’s A-tier because it still provides the ability to proc true-sight without requiring a kill as cost activation (like stylish executioner) which additionally allows stylish to chain proc true sight rather than being your primary source of true sight. imo, even if you’re not a fan of using the build in an intricate way, everything about the reworked Khepri’s just buffs what you’d already be doing as a Night-stalker and is a net benefit. Better regen speed, more damage, and free truesight for using smokes as you would normally.
Thanks, dude! And, I don’t believe that’s the case. Percentages vary depending on the mod, but a typical trend is 100% effectiveness on the first mod, and 50% diminishing returns with every mod that follows. But that isn’t the case with everything, as things like the new surge mods use a different scaling model and have varying values depending on whether you’re in PVP or PVE. Though, for “target acquisition” (or aim-assist) first bonus through a helmet targeting mod will be +10 AA and then the benefit will lessen with each instance of the mod. So if you have three of the same targeting mods on, the bonuses will go +10, +5, then +2.5 for a total of +17.5 to your total aim assist.
yes, the exotic got reworked with lightfall and no longer functions with its old effect. it now works as described in the video. no more truesight on command through trapper’s ambush dive.
Yeah, it’s a little tough getting used to not having wall hacks on command, but I still find it very valuable. I really like the new version, I think Bungie did a good job in not making it useless and giving it a lot of utility.
I should have posted this days before but..... I think you should make another video, going much more in depth on how to best use and build for Khepri's Sting much how Mactics does and leave out everything else about specific weapons or weapon types unless they have vital synergy with Khepri's Sting. I've tried KS since watching this video and I gotta say, it really doesn't seem worth it compared to most any other exotic. It seems unreliable, inconsistent and the truesight is so short lasting, I can't get a full idea of what enemy placement is beyond "there might be 1 or 2 guys over in this general direction". I really want to like this exotic but you haven't sold me so far and I would like you to.
sorry for the late reply, but I would definitely prioritize mobility at least to tier 8 if possible, resilience to either 6 or 7, and if you can’t manage either of those then tier 3, and recovery to at least 80. you would greatly benefit by getting your mobility or recovery even higher if possible, but it’s not a necessity. after that I would look to invest in strength, and just make sure your intellect isn’t below 5 if possible. four is an okay sad settlement, but 5s just better for trials and such. that being said, get those up as much as possible. using 3rd party sites to help optimize stat allocation can be a great help, such as DIM or d2armorpicker!
Love the vid but how come all your footage is with a hand cannon instead of chapperone? Makes it a little harder to see the play style yoour sugesting.
Glad you enjoyed it! I split the gameplay up between Stars in Shadow+Chaperone and the other half Handcannon+Sniper, but I made the beginning of the portion of the video strictly Stars in Shadow+Chaperone, that way you have some exhibits of how those two weapons perform together. This one of my favorite builds and I use it very frequently, so if you’d like to see more live gameplay with it, you can always feel free to stop by Stream. My stream schedule right now is Sundays and Thursdays.
Definitely on par with Omni. Omni is actually one of my most used exotics and one I was planning on making a video for because there’s a lot you can do with it, but both are very good and can accomplish similar things!
Hey bro I think you need to talk less or talk faster, either or. At one point in the video you explained that all subclasses have a melee and a super??? Going over aspects and fragments is arguably a stretch already, but I find it hard to believe someone is making a build with specific exotics in mind, while also needing an overview of the base mechanics. Anyways, I imagine your content has improved and heres good luck and some constructive criticism to keep that ball rolling.
Thanks, I appreciate the critique, but I was only explaining the basics so extensively because this is my first build video for an entire playlist series that I”m going to be doing. This way, I won’t have to cover basic mechanics as in depth and I can just reference this video, and I can have more short & sweet videos for those who are caught up to speed.

Making quality videos is a lot of work and many of the big dawgs have their own editors. I made do with what I had for the time being ‘cause I felt like it gave good examples for the elements of the build I was presenting (truesight, invis, radar manipulation) even if it wasn’t in modern context. I’m currently editing and collecting fresh gameplay footage for the next build video that’s gonna gonna come up soon :’)
@@THEaubooster I would understand that if you weren’t using it in ways that are just straight up impossible as of the time of the upload in some of the clips. Imo it’s just straight up misleading
@@Saffimaru There’s a disclaimer in the description of the video regarding the gameplay footage. And the ways that I use it in the footage that are no longer possible-which I’m pretty sure is just shadow diving to proc truesight-still give examples of the key elements of the void subclass. Like the multiple times I use Trapper’s Ambush with Khepri’s, it still provides a visual as to how going invis can be used and what truesight looks like, as well as their durations. People who are unfamiliar with those elements could gain value from the visual representation through the background footage to accompany the more accurate descriptions and visual examples I provide during the video. Even though they can’t activate it that way, they will still know what it is, and I specify the exact effect and functionality of everything in the video.
k/d isn’t entirely indicative of someone’s skill! I’m not a sweat, so I don’t ever care to upkeep my stats or stat farm, and I’m often throwing my k/d in the trash just to test a variety of things and find good combinations for loadouts, so by no means is that a sound way to judge someone’s skill level. you can make that judgement if you choose to, but despite what you may assume my “skill bracket” is, at the end of the day, Trials uses connection based and card based match-making-not skill based matchmaking. So I have just as much of an opportunity to sample and experience the meta at just as high of a level. And my experiences in matching against ZKmushroom, GoldxEagle, Lucky10p, Gernader Jake, IFrostbolt and some of the other highest skilled/top percentage players, is proof that you don’t need to upkeep stats for presentation purposes to appease ignorant perspectives, such as your own, nor do you have to in order to play against other high-skill players. I don’t run stacked teams, I don’t stat farm, I knowingly trash my K/D because I don’t care to upkeep it and I find it limiting at times, yet there’s still probably a pretty good chance I’d thrash you in a 1v1 because I’m well above average.

(also only my opinion/insight)
but also, gemini’s are really good and i love them. i’ll be making a build vid with them soon
Agree not being able to proc truesight on the shadow dive makes it worthless. Khepris main here for the last 6 seasons.
Nice. Ill check this out. Great job! Keep it up.

Yes, exactly! It really brings the “Hunt” aspect to “Hunter”
Great video!
Stars in shadow is my favorite pulse, it was the first pulse I could get the 2 burst reliably, not even my adept messenger could do so before the changes. My Surplus + Elemental capacitor has 2607 pvp kills. Void and stasis subclasses felt incredible, I ran hunter and warlock builds back then.
heck yeah man, it’s a hidden gem. smooth as butter if you’re cool with doing a little aiming.
Why not use a void pulse? Like the one from gambit or gridskipper
@@THEaubooster Veles-X is just a better option even at .73
i disagree w you there buddy. i wouldn’t use veles over any high-impact pulse unless its with gyrfalcons to pair with repulsor brace. having to longer ttk with limited benefits just isn’t that nice to me.
Dude love the video. Thank yu
glad you enjoyed it!
Can you please share the DIM link to this build buddy?

@@DPedrollo much appreciated
You are epic. Have a sub 🎉
thanks dude :’)
I still am out here using Ger-Fal-Kuhnz for that redundant volatile rounds lol
Gyrfalcon’s is a gem 💎
Finally my build gets recognition
that’s what i’m here for :’)
They've been nerfing Nightstalker since year 2, thanks to the PC version and content creators. I miss flawless executioner...
haha yeah that’s old school nightstalker, but most of that changed more drastically with the intro of void 3.0 as well.
@@rainbowhippos9035 yeah i’ve seen a couple people say similar things about how it “takes setup” and things of that nature, but the truth is, all of the functionality of the exotic lies in enhancing/buffing your gameplay passively. everything you would do normally on a nightstalker is just made better. nothing really has a “need” to be setup. it can just passively benefit your gameplay, but you’re being provided the option to use those tools more intricately, if you desire. end of the day though, if you don’t want to setup of a smoke as a decoy or trap, then you can throw it directly at an opponent to get a kill and chain truesight
just depends if you find it worth it or not
@@THEaubooster true, I think that would be the best way to play a khepri's build. Using it to damage an enemy and providing an easy cleanup
When i activate quickfall i dont get the truesight. Any help or reasoning? i cant understand why
Khepri’s Sting got reworked and it no longer procs truesight with the use of Trapper’s Ambush. Instead it works with the effects I describe in the video.
after i quick fall i don't get the outline of enemies
i have trapper ambush on
trapper’s ambush no longer grants truesight through activation of Khepri’s Sting.
Amazing video. I may be wrong but I though mods went 10% 18% then 22%. Not 10% and 15%
Thanks, dude!
@@THEaubooster gotcha. I wasn’t sure I think I just heard it somewhere so I’m sure you’re right.

I used to main KS + Void in PvP, until the nerfs. I haven't touched them since. I'm interested to see how you put it to use...
Thanks for the feedback! I very well might do that to help folks like yourself out.
i need to know what stats i should og for in order cause i messed up my armor badly LMFAO, please it would be so great and ty
sorry for the late reply, but I would definitely prioritize mobility at least to tier 8 if possible, resilience to either 6 or 7, and if you can’t manage either of those then tier 3, and recovery to at least 80. you would greatly benefit by getting your mobility or recovery even higher if possible, but it’s not a necessity. after that I would look to invest in strength, and just make sure your intellect isn’t below 5 if possible. four is an okay sad settlement, but 5s just better for trials and such. that being said, get those up as much as possible. using 3rd party sites to help optimize stat allocation can be a great help, such as DIM or d2armorpicker!

No offense but you're a 1.0kd.
This exotic isn't good anymore! It may work against bots or around your skill level but not in high skill games.
k/d isn’t entirely indicative of someone’s skill!
