I love to listen to Bob Ross' voice when I'm having an anxiety or panic attack. His wonderfully soothing voice helps me get through these episodes not to mention that his wonderful voice calms me to sleep! Unfortunately I have a difficult time trying to paint with him being an instructor because his voice makes me very sleepy 😂😂😂

Bob Ross gave some fantastic life advice in this at about 3:30 "After a while, you begin to learn to work with anything that happens. We really don't make mistakes. We learn to use what happens. And that's when you truly learn to enjoy the experience of painting, because there's no fear of this canvas." I needed to hear that

So many of these he is in a hurry at the end... I wonder what he might have done if he had had another half hour... I think there a few of those one hour specials out there, but they were very simple paintings.

Peter Markusic a lot in the art world hate him. I had anart teacher who hated him banned his name from class. 2 reasons he didnt pre plan the painting always changing his mind and she said art is not for everyone if everyone can do it its not art. I hated that class
Never really liked art classes - the definition of "art" varies from person to person. I'd have been curious to know what that teacher's definition of art was...
Some artists say he isn't a real artist because he doesn't use proper technique, but in reality they're simply jealous of his natural skill.

@telethea the end bringer I wouldn't say it's just something he spontaneously did. He used to paint landscapes in a more traditional way but eventually switched to this method. It is a technique, albeit a highly specialized one designed for quick painting. They could accuse him of having a gimmick but every artist has their own quirks and fixations.
I grew up in the late 80s, early 90s (born in 1985) and mom and I never missed an episode...I miss him so much.
However I can't help but chuckle at him and his son though. I see them together and immediately in my mind went "80s!"

Bob Ross was always my go to when I was sick and had to stay home from school. So relaxing and I felt like he was my best friend. He really helped me through some ish from high school. We didn’t deserve Bob Ross 💕

Oh man this guy always puts me to sleep but in a very good relaxing way. After a long hard day of work or even before bedtime I'll watch one of his videos and it's so soothing and calms me down. Very therapeutic. Been watching this guys since I was a kiddo. I don't know anyone who doesn't like this guy. He's awesome! : )

The BubbleBot He was a sweet, kind and gentle man and that's in short supply in this world, that's why. I don't know if you've ever heard of the composer Alan Hovahness, but somebody once said of his music that it was always Christmas and there were no bad sounds. Same with Bob and his paintings; there are no mistakes, just happy accidents, and everything is quiet, gentle and peaceful and even trees have a friend in the world.
I wish the world was like this. Why isn't it :(
I think it's fortunate that he died. Imagine him in this modern age. He wouldn't survive. People would tear him apart. But he died doing what he loved: painting.

22:42 for Bob and Steve and Squirrel ;) For those who wanted to know
This was a lovely and simple painting. Nice simple mountain with no highlights, a lovely textured path, and a nice, big, but subtle lake in the background. The tress were the best part of this. You see those evergreen trees but also oak-like trees with the usual green-yellow-hint of red colors, and the hills look really soft. This would be the time to take your shoes off and run in those hills with your bare feet as Bob would say.
Overall not the best/most detailed painting (the mountain COULD have had highlights), but still a lovely one at that. I never HATE any of Bob's paintings, but it is obvious that some are more impressive given they all have the same amount of time to make and some really look like they took longer to make then others from a new-comer.

Well I really liked the yellow sky behind the purple mountain. Yellow and purple are "complementary colors" and that means they contrast with each other really well.

I liked the softness of the hills. With the yellow sky it looks like the sun is setting behind them and that's why maybe there's not so much detail as they are being lit from behind and are more like silhouettes. I also really liked the varied trees and I thought the water in the lake was really stunning. Bob's lakes always look good but this grey and yellow reflection with the hills is particularly nice. All in all this is one of my favourite paintings so far.
nath80 Im so glad that you shared all those thoughts! I agree that it looks like a silhouette bc of the sun setting and all :) And I always love the lakes. While I dont think its the best thing ever (like, for example Royal Majesty is much better to me) im still glad you found joy in sharing your thoughts!
