The Weirdo The word art has been hijacked to give a pass to some really bizarre offerings that bear no resemblance to the human experience. We are tempted to abandon the word and coin something else for works like Ross' as its been cheapened to a point where it sounds almost disrespectful when used to label traditional works.

How can you think he wasn't happy? His attitude says it all. Always kind, encouraging, and loving not only painting but passing his trade and secrets on to millions. I think not only was he happy, but also joyful....just as in the title of his decades long painting show.

Non Conformable he became a meme at first but he was soon really appreciated. Especially when ASMR started jetting off. We just appreciate his happy, optimistic attitude, that nice soft voice, and his beautiful paintings.

The way he whispers "there" ....that's when he really gets something good
We didn't deserve Bob, all of us are too caught up in little things and trying to get an edge over everyone all the time. Even though he was a military man, he changed to have a heart of gold. All he did was paint, but it did more than that. It showed us that even though we may think we are bad at something, he was willing to put in the time to show us how to be better. The fact that we lost him earlier than we wanted showed that we are a flawed population. Bob was just one of many but few, that showed that there was still good in the world.

My birthday just passed and I got so much Bob Ross stuff. A bobble head, the joy of painting book, Bob Ross bandaids, sticky notes, a keychain, stickers, plushies, blankets, decorative pillows, Christmas ornaments, and 5 mugs. Never in my life have I been more happy and content surrounded by my Bob Ross stuff. Idk why I felt like commenting this but I did.

Really nice to see that Earl Glenn Russel is a successful artist now.
I like to think he is happy, wherever he is.
Even though I really think he OD'D in an alley six weeks after the episode aired.
It has always amazed me how Bob held that pallette loaded with paint and he could bend and lean forward, twist and turn a lot of times it looks like he is almost hugging that palette, but never in all the years of watching him have I seen so much as a dot of paint on his shirts! Me, when I paint, I have to wear a full bib type apron or I would have paint all over the front of my clothing! 🖌🎨 HAPPY PAINTING, EVERYONE! 🙋😃😃😆
I have to wear a long apron and old jeans bc I’m always covered in paint at the end… like, legs, feet, hair, face, back… I seriously admire his skill in not getting things everywhere. Apparently the film crew would wear ponchos bc they’d get the splatter from the devil 😈

These videos are THE BEST thing to have ever happen to me. I am 43 and began watching Bob at 12 (1990) after school on my local 413 PBS station. And while I never got into Oils, I credit Bob Ross with that spark that lit in me back then... All I do is paint.

My God if only half the younger generation found this pastime to be as fulfilling as he does, they would never work a day in thier life for doing what they love! I don't think B&B existed yet. This was around... Probably 1991, '92, B&B wasn't a thing 'til... I think '96, '97, which was 2-3 years after Bob passed away.
Watching Bob Ross as an adult is doing the same thing as when you watched Mr Rodgers as a kid. I think that's awesome.

When I was a child I would watch Bob with my grandparents. Years ago, after my children left home, Bob would come on our PBS station every Saturday afternoon. I was able to dvr them to watch and paint along with him. One regret I have is that I never got to see him paint live. In art or in life, there are few people that I can say influenced me more. I’m very thankful for that. 👍🏼🤍

God has given Bob some Godly qualities of observation. He painted same mountains, trees, water and rocks but the change in angles made his every painting a Masterpiece. Rest in Peace Bob.
