  • Wild heart Tour
    7 july Capitol Centre, Landover.
    Lineup:
    Stevie Nicks: vocals
    Waddy Wachtel: guitars, vocals
    Benmont Tench: keyboards
    "Wizard": guitar
    Bobbye Hall: percussion
    Sharon Celani: backup vocals
    Lori Perry: backup vocals
    Carolyn Brooks: backup vocals
    Marilyn Martin: backup vocals
To begin, here are some of Stevie's thoughts about this song, found in her notes in Timespace--her greatest hits album from 1991:
"I got married on the day I wrote this song. We were driving to Santa Barbara and a new song by Prince came on, so we pulled over somewhere and got the tape. It just gave me an incredible idea, so I spent many hours that night writing a song about some kind of crazy argument, and it has become one of the most important of my songs. I've been doing this song for years, Fleetwood Mac does it also, and I never get tired of it. "Stand Back" has always been my favorite song onstage, because ...when it starts, it has an energy that comes from somewhere unknown... and it seems to have no timespace. I've never quite understood this sound...but I have NEVER questioned it.
I become a different person, and like that, because usually I make up my OWN characters..but that lady in "Stand Back" was not my idea. By the way, Prince did come into the studio the night I called him and told him about the song, and he played incredible synthesizer on it...and then he just walked out of my life, and I didn't see him for a long time. It was extraordinary..."
"No one looked as I walked by"
This could be about the wedding--as she walks down the aisle, no one would help her see or recognize what she was doing. Perhaps it means she felt very alone.
"Just an invitation would have been just fine
Said no to him again and again
First he took my heart...then he ran"
Again, it is said this could be as she was walking down the aisle--people didn't help her out. This might also possibly be a line about Fleetwood Mac, and how she felt excluded from them. She said no to him--his proposals---Fleetwood Mac ?? He took my heart and then he ran.--KIM ?? Lindsey ??
"No one knows how I feel
What I say unless you read between my lines
One man walked away from me
First he took my hand...take me home"
This is obviously about how no one can know her unless they dig deeper to find out what she is truly about. Her words are so obscure, like her songs; you can't know her unless you read the journals--or unless you get to know her. Men come and go--she just needs to find someone to love her. Again--is it Kim?? Lindsey?? No one knows for sure.
    "Stand back...stand back
In the middle of my room
I didn't not hear from you
    Is alright...Its alright
To be standing in a line
    (Standing in a line)
    I would cry..."
This may be about the wedding, or about regretting the wedding. Stand back and think about it--what did she do??? No one was there to help her see more clearly.
"Do not turn away my friend
Like a willow I can bend"
This may be a plea to either Kim of her friends to help her--don't desert her.
    "No man calls my name
    No man came
So I walk on down the line away from you
    Maybe your attention was more
    Than you could do
    One man did not call
He asked me for my love
    That was all"
It could be about Kim again. She regrets marrying him--she really does. These words are so obscure--it could be about any experience. This is supposed to be a conclusion after all the ideas are posted--but all the ideas were different from each other. According to Stevie--the writer--this song is about a 'fictional character who gets in this huge fight' and she says, "Get away--but not too far--I may need you soon". I think the wedding does play a huge part in her feelings though. She gets married to her best friend's widower on a whim to help raise their son--was it a promise she made to Robin?? Was it just a purely good deed?? It was not love. The marriage probably took place before she had a chance to really think about her reasons for doing it. Mick said in his book he saw her face and she was not happy--plus this was a religious man, and she wasn't religious--not as much as Kim's family would have liked. Lindsey didn't show up, although Mick and Chris did. (However, Chris has said she didn't buy her a wedding present, since "it didn't seem like crazy love to me.") But to write a song like this on the wedding day--obviously there was a little love. She needed to stand back and think--what in the hell did she do?? Why did Robin die?? Where are my friends--why didn't they stop me from doing this??? It is a great song--there is an energy, it perks you up--but it IS dark--one of her darkest. She says she sees the silver lining, but that silver lining must have been too hard to see then. The divorce was finalized in April 1984-- they had been married in January 1983....

I'm Here, and this was a fabulous experience!!! I was 5 and my father at the time worked crowd control at the capitol center. We are also family friends of Stevie Nicks. Hope this helps all of your curiosity...She is the BEST, and has never harmed me or any child. For those who feel the need to always be negative, take it somewhere else. Thanks, E

Such a travesty that so many people do not see the joy and love in that (at that time) little girl's face. I think it is wonderful memory she will never forget. My girls were probably about 8 and 9 when I took them a Daughtry concert and he came down and hugged both them and sang to them. My girls are in their 20s now but it is a memory that still brings them smiles and this very proud dad a very heartfelt memory. i started to take my girls to concerts when they were 5 and my oldest (25) has now been to over 300 concerts in her life and she probably has the best hearing of anyone. Yes, I used sound reducing ear plugs when they were little because i always wanted them right up front to not only hear but experience the music. Nothing effects the soul like music!

I think the song talks both about Kim and Lindsay, more about Lindsay. Maybe she was very angry that he didn’t show up at the wedding-probably Lindsey had gotten really angry that after all their time together Stevie was going to marry a man she didn’t love. So in the song maybe she is picturing Lindsay showing up at the wedding, but she is hurt and fearful- that if Lindsay gets closer she will break down and will admit that the whole wedding is just a facade. She asks Lindsay to stay away, because he wasn’t there for her before and now he will only cause more trouble. I always listen to the song with that idea in ny mind. Stand back, I did not hear from you, If you had came, I would’ve cry and ran away

Amber Ray Yes I saw that genuine quiver of her lips too! Seemed as though she was having a bit of a rough night. I’ve seen her get very emotional at times. Watch her in the White Wing Dove Tour you can look it up by that name. The last night of her first solo tour was a roller coaster. After reading about that night I found her to be so sad her short tour was ending. She kept thinking about how in a few days she had to return to the winter of discontent with Fleetwood Mac going back in studio to cut Mirage Lp. She was so torn up by the end of that concert she could barely finish Rhiannon. After graciously thanking her fans for coming she broke down. And her band mates all converged around her in a group hug. It took many hugs. She’s just so vulnerable sometimes. Of course Lindsey said he hated Belladonna. None of F/M came to see her show! I don’t think Fleetwood ever really knew how fucking lucky they were to have such a talent as their lead! People came for the music yes but came to SEE Stevie! I couldn’t have dealt with shit like that I’d have left their asses flat! She was so under appreciated it’s pathetic!

Sorry for the typo, I meant opinion, not opion-I wouldn't want anyone to think I was down on your level. Say bye-bye

You can see when she gives the kiddo back, she cries. And then "Oh no that song now" was because Beauty and the beast would have made her sob.
Shows that even great stars can be sad, and have to make great sacrifices.

    • @jurjenvanderhoek316
      @jurjenvanderhoek316 Рік тому

I do not see any tears. She is mimicking sadness with her mouth (like a clown), but that is alright.

One of my favourite moments. This one is fun to watch, but Stevie looks so tired. I really feel for her.....And the Woman may be so awestruck, and the woman may truely care, but the woman is so tired.....

Stevie Nicks would never harm any child, I am sure. I think she was showing the crowd how much she really loved children. She is a typical USA citizen-loves her country and family.

Lady Goffin I have loved Stevie Nicks my entire life. She certainly has a good heart. But she did have 3 or 4 abortions including Don Henley's baby, whom she named post mortem Sarah and went on to write a song to her. As much as I love her, she did hurt a few kids.

    • @muffin6369
      @muffin6369 5 років тому

She could care less about children and all that cap about her looking sad because she had to give her back is crap. There are some of us who really don't care that much about being mothers or kids. I prefer something with four legs and FUR!

@@muffin6369 What a nonsense. What she did with that kid was wonderful and very sweet and loving. When she gave Elaine back, she just mimicked some sadness with her mouth (like a clown). Nothing wrong with that.

@lousylover69 I'll take the new Stevie. She may not be as wild, but you have to remember that she's older. Most people mellow as they age. Plus, the new one is more sober and more wise.

so, thank u, flamingcrystal for posting. & thank u for that amazing story, of which i knew only a little.had no idea she'd married her best friend Robin's husband, after cancer took her away from Stevie & Robin's family. her poor husband & sweet little Elaine. story made me cry. she married him probably out of the 2 of them being completely grief stricken, and had that bond. just speculating, but i can see why she did it, at that stage in her life. she did it to help her best friend's family.

THAT IS AFRICAN TRIBAL DANCE STEVIE NICKS IS DOING AT THE INTRO TO THIS SET 🤔 AND PRETTY DANG AUTHENTICALLY , BOTH RHYTHMICALLY AND MOVEMENT BASED. I DON’T WANT TO SOUND IGNORANT , but....HOW DID SHE NAIL THAT? YOU CAN’T FAKE THAT KIND OF RHYTHMIC INTEGRITY 🥁 €THAT IS ORGANIC OR IT JUST, LIKE “ISN’T” (TO PUT IT SIMPLY. )wow.☝️👩🙃😉
