Nice! So many others say you cannot use the Cricut inks with sublimation products and that you cannot use them successfully in an oven. So glad to see that you can and that it works well.
Ok Jay. Not sure what you mean by Cricut inks. Do you mean infusion inks? Both infusion ink and sublimation inks can be used. But you do not need to buy from Cricut. Definitely wait for it to cool down! It can actually still be transferring while hot and make it smudge, glad yours didn't though! I have done it with the markers in the oven, but wasn't sure how the sheets would work so I am glad I found this video! I have learned the hard way that if you don't put a bunch of layers of parchment or butcher paper between the mug wrap and the mug, it may have some transferring from other designs.
I've been researching, it says to let cool completely before removing the silicone press. Save some money on those gloves. Probably wait 30 minutes or so to cool down. Also, placing something very hot in cold water immediately can actually crack it. Be careful.
Thank you! I've been playing around with other methods since this video as well. I actually now own TWO mug presses I don't use. LOL I appreciate your feedback!

It's good to use something like butchers paper or Teflon sheet. This is to stop any ink from your print going onto the heating element. If ink does get there. It can be printed onto the next mug.
i needed this! because i really dont want to spend $200 on a mug press especially when im more so a tumbler maker mugs will just be a here and there type of thing... i cant wait to try this and save money!

Yes `Someone Sometimes´. But the main reason for letting it cool (about 20 minutes). Is so you do not get any `Ghosting´ This happens when the ink is still very hot and you move the paper with your image on while it's still on the mug. You get a very thin second image on your mug. This is called Ghosting and doesn't look good and you have to make another one. I take mine off while it's hot. But I've been doing this a while. Some people put in in warm water to help cool it down quicker.
Roblox. You must use sublimation mugs for this. They are both dishwasher & microwave safe for years. Do not buy mugs from the Dollar store. They will not work.
@@mariemtopping18 Great! Then you should not have any problems at all. Once you have printed them. Let them cool down before removing the paper so that you do not get any `Ghosting´ on the mug. After that you all good to go to make your next mug!
Did you peel it off while it was hot because you were curious to see how it turned out? Or do you think it’s fine to let it cool down and then peel off?
Amazon! And if I were you, I'd not even bother with their tape. It's super expensive for absolutely no reason. Head over to Amazon and search for heat transfer tape and grab HUGE rolls.
When I put my mug in the oven, 425 F for 14 min, without butcher paper, it said to peel off when hot which I did. The color came out not black but black/brown. What did i do wrong ?
It must have a lot of presser all around the mug to work. This is why ovens don't always work until you know how. Using shrink wrap is an option also. But if your using an oven. I hope not the one you cook the family dinner in?
@@SassyFrizzle We have the Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 which is plenty big to bake the mugs. :-) www.amazon.com/dp/B07NLHMYH4/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_zhZ7FbBQKKZXV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It is, but it is also limited. I wouldn't recommend trying to layer using this method or cut intricate designs. If you're just sticking to words and simple images in one (or maybe two) colors, this method is cheaper and easier.
Yes infusion is only cheaper if you are doing a few mugs. But has it is already printed. You have limited to their colours & designs and the rest is our own way of mixing these up. Sublimation cost more to start it up has you need a sublimation printer (or covert an inkjet). But if you are planing to do a lot. Then sublimation is a lot cheaper than infusion. Plus you can design ANYTHING you want. Photos, logos, cartoons etc. If you can design and print it. You can sublimate it! (plus T-shirts etc.) But with both infusion & sublimation. You must use sublimation mugs. Do not buy from the Dollar store has they will not work.
Do you ever have problems with the grid pattern also transferring? I’ve tried making one mug (but I didn’t have the silicone wrap and put it in for 20 mins..) and the grid transferred as well 😞
If you do not have the silicone or Teflon sheets. You can use butchers paper. You will see the butchers paper burn a little on the outside when you take it out. This is normal. You can use this a few times before placing it.
From all my research, you aren't supposed to use an oven that you will also cook in to to sublimation....something about the gasses it lets off not being safe. I wonder if it's different for Infusible Ink as apposed to regular sublimation.
