To retain more heat, and to keep the temperature more consistent in the toaster oven, lay unglazed ceramic tiles on the oven rack or bottom. Pre-heat it well and it should work better for you.
I can no believe that actually worked with a toaster oven! I know it is supposed to be all black, but honestly the orange hair is kinda cool LOL This is the first video I have seen using an oven and not that boojee circuit stuff! Very cool!
Ihave just started to get my equipment together to do mugs and T-Shirts, etc. Started researching and your video is where I started at, and I am so glad I did. It was nice to see someone else do an oops. I am planning on becoming a groupie since you seem to be more down to earth with your videos so please keep them coming.
Thank you for posting the success and the fails. Makes this process seem a bit more do-able. I subscribed to follow your sublimation journey, can’t wait to see what else you create.
Hi Laura!! Thanks so much for following along and showing your support! I definitely don’t mind showing the fails too, it makes it so much less disheartening knowing that others don’t get it right the first time every time!
This was a great tutorial. We learn from our mistakes...and in this instance, we all got to learn from yours. Thank you so much for teaching us, and letting us learn from your mistakes. It is very generous of you. BTW, I think the first mug turned out very well. I am wondering why that one letter blurred a bit. I wonder if it would be improved by leaving it to cool? Will you redo that design to see? I really appreciate your sharing your video of what you purchased to get started with sublimation. I just don't have $1000 to purchase a printer, plus a couple of hundred for a mug press. I can't wait to watch more of your sublimating videos. Right now I have a cutting machine and a heat press, but I have been doing it mostly as just a hobby. I cannot justify spending large amounts of money on it. I really want to do sublimation though so this setup would be great. I did see someone using shrink wrap and a heat gun to hold the sublimation paper on. The heat gun was just for the shrink wrap and then it was placed in a convection oven.
Hi LJ! Thank you so much for checking out my channel! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! It’s definitely something that takes practice. I will for sure try the designs again now that I’ve been doing it for a few months to see the improvement. I’ll share more things I’ve learned that work and things that didn’t work as well!! The budget set up is the way to go (in my opinion) and the fact that you already have a heat press is awesome! You’re basically halfway there already! Two years ago I was so hesitant to buy a Cricut because I didn’t want to spend money on big items like that, but it paid for itself in the very first month so it was a great investment. The sublimation is going the same way so far! Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself and your future business! Just be prepared to go through a period of trial and error first! I hope you have an awesome day!! 😁💜
Nice drum set 😉 enjoying the videos as I’m thinking of ways to progress small business crafts and products. Thanks for all the info, your channel is super helpful.
At least you got your designs on the right way up. I recently did my very first batch of mugs. They all came out very well except a couple were upside down. I call them my drunk mugs
I used a 3d sublimation vacuum press. Bake mugs for 8 minutes @200 degrees Celsius. Let the mugs cool before open the mug clamps. I messed up mugs during trial and errors trying to get the right bake time. Thanks for sharing your videos. I have a sawgrass sg400 and looking to buy an epson workforce printer to do sublimation products. As the sawgrass inks are very costly.
Your tutorial was extremely informative and helps a lot. Thank you for your honesty. Sometimes we try something and it doesn't work out, but we can always try again.

I absolutely know the feeling! Which is exactly why I share!! Nobody is the perfect crafter, trust me!! You’ve got this! Thanks for checking out my video 😁💜
You only need to pieces of heat resistant tape because after it sublimate you need to remove the paper immediately or you can risk it sticking to the mug in it the whole project will be ruined I’m in a graphic imaging class
Omg I loved this Video! I just got my printer and set it up for sublimation, and waiting to get the mug press or oven but still debating! What made you pick the oven vs a press? CANT wait for more videos 😁
Hi Liz!! Thanks so much for checking out my video!! That’s so exciting!!! The reason I originally bought the oven, was so that in time I could do different sized and shaped mugs and bottles. Now having said that, I ended up purchasing a press at the beginning of the holiday season to help with production time and consistency. Oven can take about 14 minutes, versus 3 minutes in a press. I haven’t used my oven since because I haven’t used any different sized/shaped mugs LOL! It’s nice to know I have the option in the future but looking back, I probably would have just bought the press to start! Totally depends on what you plan to make but I hope this helps!!
Good sport and I have everything but my printer I had the one you have but my sis in law has an Epson ecotank et so I’m gonna go with that one thanks for the video
I thought you did well..I liked them.. WE made mugs with a mug maker while camping this Oct.2021..It was so much fun.there was about 12 of us.. what a blast we had.. I am new to cricut. Actually I ordered it as a gift and it will be my gift from my hubby to me LOL...at least it will be something I really want not a iron or a pillow..LOL.. So My question is when you fist get it do they give you links for free designs? can you share any with us?Or how do I look for them..Thank you
The orange doesn't look bad cos it's a fall color. Thanks for this video. Question though: can it be a regular ceramic mug? Or does it have to be a blank mug?
Thank you for your helpful video :-) I have just embarked on the sublimation journey and have found that sometimes the heat resistant tape leaves a permanent stain on the mug. Do you have any advice please 🙏
Yea I print my test sheets through my regular printer and then switch to my sub when it’s right! I’ve been doing this for months no problem and today I screwed up 3 mugs I’m so upset😭
I have a question so I got a hp ENVY PRO 6455 and I have a heat press machine will that printer work or should i get the EPSON WF 7720 like the one you have I haven’t try the one I have but I don’t wanna open the box if I’m not gonna need this printer please let me know
Where do you purchase the ink from? I recently bought Epson et 3710. I see Amazon carries some just don't know if the quality of it is any good. Thanks!
I ordered them!! They came in just before Christmas and I haven’t had the chance to test them yet! I’m excited though! I’ll definitely share how it goes :)
Haha thank you for watching!! I have a video earlier on in this series that goes over what sublimation actually is that you may find helpful. This is an inkjet printer that has been converted to sublimation. It uses sublimation ink so there’s no regular ink or toner used in this process :) I hope this helps!! I know it can be a little confusing!
Not to be rude, but I would suggest you get a Mug Press, they are cheap enough and will cut down the time in doing mugs easierly by half. It takes me about 5 mins to print and press a mug. Peter from Subli Jubli Limited
Hi Peter!! I didn’t take it that way at all! I ended up buying a mug press just before Christmas and it was a game changer! I still like having the option of the oven too in case I’d like to try different sizes or shaped cups! Everything is a learning process for sure 😁
Ok, this is probably a dumb question! After sublimation of a tumbler do you epoxy the tumbler? I have never done sublimation or seen a finished tumbler, but thinking of getting into it. I am so tired of epoxy and it’s moods.
Hi Joyce! Totally not a dumb question!! No you do not epoxy after! Sublimation leave perfectly dishwasher safe cups! Depending on the type of cup you’re using of course!!! 😁
@@TheFoiledPlan I have a question 🙋🏼♀️ I have a small pic to sublimate on a sub tumbler, I have the string wrap too. Hi Arif! I think you should contact the company you bought it from because with any heat presses or mug presses you do need to preheat them before pressing the mug so that shouldn’t have caused any issues for you. If your press is smoking that’s not good! Contact the seller and tell them it smoked then stopped working, maybe they can replace it!

Hello , I justa have a question , can I used the Empty Ink Cartridge with Auto Reset Chip with the EPSON printer XP-4105???
What Temp. and Time did you use to get a good mug.. Also did you pre-heat your oven?
Do mug wraps make a difference? What will happen if I don't have one on while heating?
Light pressure
Where do you purchase the ink from? I recently bought Epson et 3710. I see Amazon carries some just don't know if the quality of it is any good.
Thanks!
i have the mug press and it only heats the mug for 6 mins very interesting that the oven is 14 mins
Awesome!!!
