I've always been fond of the Franciscans even before I converted to Catholicsm. St. Francis of Assissi will be my patron saint once I'm finally confirmed (most likely next month). I picked him because he's the patron saint of animals but I'm a huge fan of the other famous St. Francis aka Saint Francis de Sales

Wow. Didn’t realize Sister Marianne of Moloka’i was a Franciscan. She’s remembered with great reverence on the island and the old chapel there has memorials to her there. It’s a beautiful place. Used to live on Oahu, a flight away from the main leper colony on Moloka’i. Of course it’s a museum now. Her and Father Damien

My father studied college on a school run by Dominicans, in which when the school holds alumni homecomings he brings me. I studied primary education to a school run by Franciscans, and I am now currently studying on a school run by Augustinians.

    Dear Br. Casey,
I am a follower of your channel and I love all the content and the way you present it. I found this video an occasion to ask you to speak about the Great Franciscan Saint "Veronica Giuliani".
I would like to add that she is one of the most powerful Saints that has been forgotten. So powerful that Padre Pio considered her as his teacher and declared that she was a “Mistress in Holiness”. Pope Pius IX said she was not merely a saint, but a Great saint. Pope Leo XIII said no other being, except the mother of Jesus, was more endowed than her with preternatural Gifts.
She is the only Saint that still remains the stigma after death.
During a mass, a priest in Italy said in his homily to the congregation "if you're not going to realize the importance of this saint, she is going to go somewhere else, to another county and rise up from their".
I am from Lebanon, and we believe that Saint Veronica Giuliani chose our country to intensify her mission from. The only church outside of Italy dedicated to this saint is recently built in Lebanon and a Franciscan Order devoted to her intercession is found.
    Thank you in advance.

I love hearing about the saints. My favorite is an Anglican saint, St. Julian of Norwich (1343 - after 1416). I know...the RCC doesn't recognize her, even though she was a Roman Catholic. I went through a great illness as she did, and the Lord attended to me as He does to those who are sick and alone...so humbly though He be the Great Most High. (As Mother Theresa declared, "God is humble!" To confirm this, Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you, and ; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matt. 11:29). I would have died but for our Lord Jesus, and Julian experienced this and recovered from her terminal illness, going on to serve him as a merciful sister and hermit. It is speculated that she may have lost all her family and friends to the black plague, and that her physical illness was terminal grief. Her book, "Revelations of Divine Love" is considered a must-read for all Christians.

RASH JUDGEMENT is a mortal sin.
before you post any comments against the dignity of any canonized saints that Book of Revelation called BLASPHEMY..try diligently to read the history of their lives.
Your disrespect to Pope Francis reveals your heart.

Wow, Thank you Bro. Casey for sharing this information. Did not know there are 170 Franciscan Saints. I am going to study this thoroughly. It is an inspiration to me to learn more on this subject. You share much important information in all of your video's. I am inspired by all of your video's of important subjects and information.. God surely has an important interest in you sharing these informative video's. I know in my heart St. Francis is truly inspired by you hard dedicated work and teachings. Keep up the great work of St. Francis. I hope and pray that after you are ordained a priest, you keep up as much as you can of your inspiring work and teachings. This is truly doing the work of the Lord and St. Francis. God bless you Bro, and may the Holy Spirit keep inspiring you with all these teachings cause with out people like you, this work would never be made known. You are the new life of the church. We need more Franciscans like yourself to spread the Good News and teachings of the church.. The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal do a tremendous job also.
Thank you again and God Bless you.

7 things you might not know about the Saints and wouldn't unless you read the 62 verses where they are mentioned in the New Testament.
      1. The Biblical term Saint refers to the Born Again Christians who are alive.
      2. They're Sanctified through their faith in Christ. In the Bible they became Saints because of their faith.
      3. Every born again Christian walking the earth today is a Saint.
      4. Of all 62 verses in the Bible, the Saints are always referred to in the plural form not one single time in the singular. It's simply referring to the born again Christians.
      5. The Catholic religion clearly portrays a false definition of a saint.
      6. The Catholic saints were adopted from the pagan beliefs of polytheism or having multiple gods to pray to.
      7. The enemy has instituted this belief system in the Catholic religion to get people to pray to or communicate with deceased persons which is the sin of necromancy which is an abomination to the Lord.
Necromancy is mentioned many times in the Bible.
As a former 40 year Catholic my eyes were finally opened as I studied the scriptures. God's word will truly bring you out of whatever spiritual captivity you are trapped in.
It took time but I finally began to realize that I had much to unlearn before I could see the truth.
      God bless

After several centuries of Church rule, it is difficult for modern Catholics Christians to understand that God can make anyone a saint; it should be the norm for the Church, not the exception. That's because we are all called to be lights unto the world. All that is needed for sainthood is to sincerely invite Christ into your life and make Him your Best Friend through daily prayer and the reading of His Word (using both the Bible and the CCC). This, of course, needs to be your internal disposition for making proper use of the Sacraments. You may not be canonized, but you will make it into heaven. I guarantee it.

I realise the biblical references when speaking of those affected by leprosy, but now those affected by leprosy want to be termed in that way, or people with Hansen's disease rather than be called the disease itself. This shift was voted overwhelmingly some years ago by the Federation of those affected by leprosy and endorsed by the International Federation of Anti Leprosy Associations and endorsed by WHO. this was recognised by patients groups around the world. It would be greatly appreciated by all I am sure if you can amend the nomenclature in future. Thanks for all the videos however.

Didacus of Alcalá, also known as Diego de San Nicolás… for whom the City of San Diego is named.
If there’s a city on the West Coast that’s named for a saint, there’s a pretty good chance he or she was a Franciscan.
(Honestly, I only learned about him yesterday. The Mrs. was watching Anchorman, and I walked in during the scene where Ron is explaining the “history” of San Diego… I thought I’d look to see the truth behind it!)

Question.. How does one become a member of the 3rd order? Also, how does one follow Franciscan spirituality if there is not a Francisican community near them? Our parish is Precious Blood and our diocese is Benedictine.

The Order is broken up into regions. There might not be Franciscans at your parish, but there are likely Secular Franciscans in your area.

Thank you Brother Casey. I will look into Secular Franciscans in my area and see what I can find.
