I have the 14mm M2F. Braydon's review is spot on. I also added 3 grams of lead tape on each side to increase stability. The paddle is forgiving, has excellent spin and is very maneuverable. I am coming from a 16mm hybrid paddle, and I can control the 14mm as easily as the 16mm hybrid. The 14mm is so light out of the box that I think lead tape is required. This is an excellent paddle. Another great review, Braydon.
I have a JOOLA Ben Johns Hyperion CAS 16 Pickleball Paddle that is due for a change - grip is now gone at sweetspot center. Would you recommend switch to this Mach 2? Thanks - Love your video
I'm glad you liked it! The Hyperion CAS 16 is elongated so going straight to the widebody shape of Mach 2 is a big change in shape since you're so used to the elongated shape and the Mach 2 is very short in comparison. It would probably be an easier adjustment to move to a Hybrid style paddle instead which is just a little shorter than your Hyperion but longer than the Mach 2. This will give you better hand speed and more forgiveness than your Hyperion without the shape adjustment being too radical. Take a look at the Six Zero DBD 16 or the Vatic Pro Flash, those are both solid options in the Hybrid shape category. The code 10EFFECT will also work on both of their websites too.
Thanks for sharing. That's the first I've heard that happening with these but it can happen with any paddle. Tennis elbow seems to be so different for everyone that it's tricky to treat and know what will make it flair up for you.
I’ve been playing with the 16 m2v. The m1v has been my paddle the past 4 months. I’ve found that I haven’t really gave up much going to m2v in comparison. But definitely gained on control and touch. Liking the m2v more and more
Great review. Just ordered the 16mm. Coming from a CRBN2, then Vatic Prism Flash 16mm, now to this. I was debating between this, the Ronbus r1 pulsar or a 6.0 DBD. I use heavy spin on most of my shots and I'm a 4.5+ player. So thinking this Mach 2 Forza will be a bit more power and pop than my old paddles, but more spin and control.
Had it for a couple months and played in 2 tournaments with it so far. It is everything I was thinking it would be. Love it! It shines up at the net for blocking monster drives. Great spin, has more power than my previous paddles, but still excellent control. Seems to be holding up very well too.
I also noticed that it seems to absorb shock much better than the vatic prism flash. That paddle was giving me elbow pain and seemed to vibrate a lot. Have not had tennis elbow issues since moving to this paddle.
I’m playing with the 14 in a moneyball event tomorrow. I like that it’s fast and forgiving and adding a little weight brings out some good pop and power. And personally like the lower launch angle of the 14mm, it suits my game well.
I tend to overswing everything and standard shape raw paddles don't quite keep up with the speed of some of my opponents. So far about the only paddle I can play with is the CX14 Ultimate; it has such good touch but very small sweet spot and it twists a lot. Is the Mach 2 forza going to give up a lot of that touch that the cx14 offers? I have not liked the touch of any other thermoformed paddles I've tried. They are so dang stiff! Thanks!
This one feels softer than your typical thermo due to it's wider head design but it's still a thermoformed paddle and has a slightly stiffer feel to it. However, if there was a thermo paddle you would be able to switch to and adjust to from the CX14 then this would be it.
@@pickleballeffect Thanks for your reply, I have played with it for 3 weeks and successfully transitioned it to competitive play. If I can do it anyone can. I had to retrain drops to some extent and definitely retrain blocks to a more flat face as to avoid pop ups. The extra power and rock solid sweet spot has helped my offensive game immensely. This paddle is just so reliable, I always know what it will do. My defense game has suffered some, but I think with time I can regain what I lost. Mine's at 9oz and I have plenty fast hands with it and really good back line power with the 16mm. I do feel like I have ticked up a little more in my level of play due to these changes; I won't be going back to the twisty CX14. Just putting this out here to help others.
Curious what you have moved on to or if you still main the M2F14. I feel like I was playing my best ball with that paddle but have since tried a few others trying for a little more power...and my drops have just fallen to pieces. I hate to go backwards but maybe I am just not cut out for the power game in the first place.
Hey Braydon! Thank you for this review! I recently purchased the 16mm, and love it so far. Funny thing is, I didn't know I needed it. Ha. I was playing with the DBD 16mm, and did well with it's power, but my serve is a bit lacking in power now. I don't want to make it too heavy in swing weight, but was thinking I should add a couple of ounces somewhere, possibly the top? Thoughts?
Thanks for this review! Just ordered the 14mm. I have been wanting to try the 14 mm so figured this wide body thermo was a good place to start! I play mainly doubles. Also, bought your tungsten tape! 💪🏻
Nice, yes, if you’ve been wanting to try a 14 then this is a good one to do it on. And yes, thanks for picking up the tungsten tape, I’m excited for it to get in more players hands!
I’m going to add more options down the road. Next will be a roll that’s .5g per inch. The manufacture I’m with can’t do the pre cut strips and I haven’t been able to find another place that can make them at a reasonable price yet. But hoping to have that as an option down the road.
Thanks for the helpful review! How would you compare the 16mm m2v against the 16mm joola scorpeus Collin johns? Similar play, with an obvious cost savings in favor of the volair? I'm kinda stuck between the two. Thank you again!
@pickleballeffect I usually use the 14mm DBD. Then went to the Gearbox Pro Power Elongated and didn’t go back to the DBD as I felt I wanted more feel and the GEarbox gave that to me. I tend to not like muted paddles as much. Then 8 went back to the DBD and for some reason, my net skills seemed a 100 times better than the gearbox. Now I struggle to go back to the gearbox. With that said, would you recommend the 14 or 16 mm Mach 2 Forza?
@@pickleballeffect thanks for the feedback. The 14 has been ordered. And I bought some of your tungsten tape. I think adding it on both sides and the top will be best with this paddle to add more twist weight and power. Is that a safe assumption since the paddle is so light with a low swing weight?
Nice review as always. I added some lead tape (hadnt received your tungsten tape when i set this paddle) to the upper corners of the 16mm. Did increase the swing weight but also the power. Did you try adding weight to the 16mm?
I'll forgive you on the use of lead tape for now ha. And no, I haven't messed with weight on the 16mm yet, I liked the way it played out of the box but there is certainly some room to mess with there with weight without it getting too heavy on you.
I used to play 14dbd but didn't have enough putaway power. Went to Ruby but it's heavy at the net. Now I have ALW 12.7mm, luv it until I play with 4.0 players too poppy, I kept getting smash. What I need is power from the baseline, low swing weight for hand battles and a good ummp for putaways. Could you recommend a paddle that plays like 14mm dbd with a good putaway power.
I would suggest putting 3 grams of weight in this spot, ua-cam.com/video/7omZPi69xtI/v-deo.htmlsi=fbhnHT8QEhOdsIS2, on your DBD 14 first. That will help bring out the power in the paddle since it's so light out of the box.
Do you main this paddle? Also! Which would you prefer, a vatic prism flash 16mm or this paddle? I am a shorter player but I feel like the length on both paddles are very similar.
Yes, the 14mm is my main paddle right now. I’d go with the Mach 2 over the prism just because I like the added forgiveness of the Mach 2. You do lose a like length though going that route but if you’re okay with that then take the extra forgiveness off the Mach 2.
Pro tip: Make your tungsten tape and protective edge tape $25.00 and $10.00 instead of $24.99 and $9.99 so they'll add up to $35.00 and qualify for free shipping. You missed a sale today. Fantastic review, though.
This is one of those paddles that absolutely needs lead tape. I was playing wth a 5.0 group, and it just couldn't keep up with their ridiculous drives and volleys, as it would twist a bit in the hands -- that is until I added lead tape. I think I added 0.2g on each side (4/8 positions going down) and that seems to help a lot. It was already super easy to manuever, so it's not like that lead tape is going to slow you down. I'm also testing 0.1g at the very top center to add a little more power and sweet spot up there.
Just ordered the 16mm using your code. Thanks for the help.
Nice! Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for using my code

Thanks for comment, I'm glad to hear we had similar experiences. I was a fan of the M2F14, it's a solid paddle.
Volair never gets the love it deserves.

I wonder how this compares to Pikkl Hurricane Pro. It has a similar shape and grip size
I imagine they are similar. Pikkl was supposed to send those but I never got them so I don’t know what happened.
Nice review. I appreciate your balanced thoughts about what may be important to different folks with different styles of play. Keep up the great work!
I started using the Mach 2 forza but been having problem with tennis elbow for the first time.
Thanks for sharing. That's the first I've heard that happening with these but it can happen with any paddle. Tennis elbow seems to be so different for everyone that it's tricky to treat and know what will make it flair up for you.
Interested on the 14mm once you added the edge tape and tungsten tape what the swing weight went to?

Nice! After playing with it for a couple of weeks you kinda just forget it's shorter and it doesn't affect your game that much.

@@nickn383 Thanks for the reply. I have the Mach 1 Forza 14mm and trying to decide between the Forza 2 14 or 16.
Hi, have you managed to try out the new CTRL paddles by Volair yet?
Yes, they play very similar to the original versions but have a little stiffer impact feel and maybe a little more pop.
@ which do you prefer out of the 2
I bought some of your tungsten tape. Great stuff👍
Yes! I'm glad you like it. Thank you for the support!

Based on the review, the 16mm is by far the best option, not the 14. You won't notice a difference between 110 and 112 swing weight.

Roll is best so you can custom cut your own lengths

They play very similar except the M2F 16 has way more spin. I don’t see a scenario I’d recommend the CJ Scorp over the M2F 16mm.
What about the Anna bright one? Is m2v 14mm better?
How would you compare the Volair Mach 2 Forza 16mm with the Joola Scorpeus 16mm?
They play very similar other than the M2F 16 has much more spin.
