  • Today’s video doesn’t have too much of a point to it, other than to chronicle my few hours out in the Vilnius old town with my wife. I guess the most interesting and eventful thing is that we went to two different restaurants before finding one that was open and offered something we were interested in eating.

RoseHip is a favourite, it's gluten free, which is not so easy to find.

Svogūnų laiškai literally mean "letters of onions" - they are sending us their green letters.

I do live not far from the city centre and often go to the city centre or old town for similar purposes as shown in this video. I never use Bolt scooters, but ride a regular bicycle. My advice would be to just have a slightly shitty and clunky city bike which would not be attractive to thieves, but is usable and comfortable enough to ride. Just lock it not too far from wherever you are planning to walk around in the old town and then collect it on your way back. I can't imagine using any other method of travel these days. And is much cheaper and/or healthier than taking a rented scooter or a taxi. And far less stressful.

One of the big reasons for taking the bolt scooters at least part way was due to the limited time we had with the babysitter. But the bicycle idea sounds good 👌

@@LithuaniaExplainedVlog Realistically bicycle is probably even faster than the scooter. From my personal experience, getting used to riding bicycle in the city is more of a mental shift than anything else. It may be difficult for some, because it requires to do something differently than what they are used to. And that is often a challenge.

I would say there are more options during lunchtime on Sundays in Kaunas. But proper research is necessary when you don't have much time.
Friendliness varies, I was more surprised to never be asked if I want a dessert or a coffee after the main course. Even if a place is not crowded, they don't seem to care if you stay longer and consume more. You shouldn't expect to be asked in Germany all the time either. But more than 50% of the time. Might be worth a video about Lithuanian dining habits. 😉
