As a Lithuanian, this is my favorite video about Vilnius for tourists by a tourist. Not saying the same boring "facts" and stereotypes, not going to the same restaurants as others. Honestly, this captures the vibe of Vilnius pretty well.
Such trolleybuses are very good.! I have been working with this type for 16 years , I would not want a new edition trolleybus , if I only work with this one..! Czech production , but lithuanians have learned to restore them and they serve a long and cosmic time..!!👍😎😂
@@InnerAlchemyHub It's a pity they don't produce them anymore , they can be compared to a Mersedes-Benz cucumber(second name this car in LT😂) 80's , whose engines and chassis , practicality while driving , is a legend..!👍😎
Nice to see a Lithuanian trolleybus driver appreciating our Czech vehicles. Honestly I loved them as well but my favourite type keeps staying older and much more curvaceous 9Tr. Greetings from Brno, partner city of Lithuanian Kaunas. :) lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0koda_9Tr
Nice video! Regarding the Gediminas castle, there is actually a misconception that trees held the hill. The hill was under "wrong doing" for many years, it had land slides during this time many times, at some point during ww2 there was a bunker dug up, which did not favor the condition of the hill. Also a trolly build was a mistake too!
14:48 The trolleybus is Škoda 14Tr and was produced in Czechoslovakia, later Czech Republic from the year 1981 to 1998. This type of trolleybus was exported into many east block countries where you can find them still in service. Interestingly they were exported also to the USA. You can read more about them in this Wikipedia article. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0koda_14Tr
15:17 actually these old ones has two heating/cooling modes: open windows during summer and hell fire during winter. if you sit next to a heating unit it can melt your shoe.
Thanks Antonio, really glad you enjoyed and appreciate for subscribing! Yes definitely worth visiting beautiful Vilnius, we have a few more videos coming about it :) We love Sicily and hope to film there next year!
The best cepelins I've had actually came from a supermarket. The Norfa store next to my house would have them at 10 am every day. They'd sell out in 2 hours. They had sauce too. They'd ask you if you want the big container or the small one for your sauce. I got fat in 6 months eating them for breakfast.
That's good to know, might try it next time we're in Vilnius. I know what you mean about getting fat from cepelinai, easily done. It's a very rich breakfast!
The best cepelinai is homemade always, you will not taste a good ones in a restaurants. So if you get a chance sneak into some lithuanian house on a weekend, and then you will see what that dish is all about😉
Hi, i will be visiting in 3 weeks and so glad i saw your vid. For the dinner in this vid, could you pls list / share the name of the restaurant? I really want to go there and try the food, thanks 🙏
Enjoying your video thank you. I’m interested to know if the Soviet trolley bus was free, as I didn’t see anyone pay or scan a ticket please? Cheers from Australia
Yeah everything's open, it's feeling a lot more normal. Just make sure you have your proof of double vaccinations as they ask to see it everywhere, even shopping centres!
I absolutely love Vilnius & Lithuania in general 🇱🇹 I just done a Vilnius apartment tour on my channel, I wish hadn’t caught food poisoning or I would have made a lot more content.
Wait.... I haven't seen you trying 'vėdarai '- one of our traditional dishes made from pig's intestines (yes, you've read correctly!) and potatoes (again) filling. It was on the menu, but I guess, you haven't ordered it. Maybe it sounds disgusting but is really delicious. And I guess, if you'd ordered it, you'd have gotten it also with the same sauce. Also lovely dish is 'balandėliai' - cabbage rolls with pork. I'm not sure how much lithuanian dish it is as other our neighbouring countries also have this dish (maybe with some variations). You should also try 'šaltiena' - long long cooked meat (mainly pork (and mainly pig's feet. head, ears, tails - e.g. mainly offal), but can be added other kind of meet - beef, chicken, veal and so on, it adds some notes to the taste. It's wintwr food for me, because it takes a long time to harden the boiled mass into jelly. When we have quite hot summers here (every year more and more days near +30 in a shade) it's easier to make this dish in autumn, winter or spring, but it's good to eat in summer (it coul refresh you)
You forgot the best foods! You have to try kibinai and kepta duona then the drink gira which is a ‘kids beer’ a non alcoholic drink made from the traditional dark bread.
You're not quite right. Kibinai is the Karaites' dish, but have to agree - very delicious. Mainly in Trakai, but can also by tried in some vans with 'Senoji kibininė' logo.
Mamma's food. It's amazing. I hate that at Etno dvaras they put pea sprouts on top of many dishes. That's not traditional and totally unnecessary. Also they should explain that you're suposed to mix bacon and sour cream sauce before pouring it over the dish. That's the way to eat it.
It would have been good if they explained that yes, I didn't discover the sour cream until the end! We will explore more traditional Lithuanian food places when we come back to Vilnius soon. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
for once and for all, you don't like beatroot soup, don't come here. this is all we eat in summer. tired of nosy tourists talking about how weird it is
Check out our next video in the Lithuanian countryside - a stunning lake trip and pork belly BBQ! ua-cam.com/video/0tAWq3ZLG3Y/v-deo.html
It is cauled 'Grietinė'. We only have it in Lithuania. You will not find in other countries
There is a piramide inder this fake hill...
It is called grietinė, it is no sour cream

don't worry, those old trolleybuses have great heating under the seats ;)
Sometimes too hot I've heard!
and not to mention that their seats are way more comfy than the new ones....
I lived there for 2 years and I fully agree that everyone should at least visit! It is such a beautiful and safe city!
