      Valet Pro Mad Wax is 5 quid a jar, FK 1000p is 14 quid (£4 for a sample, that lasted me a year.) You could buy both for the same price as Mags.

      Fantic1980 exactly!! I have the fk1000p very good wax & value for money and tin lasts years they should really make a smaller tin say 200g for £9-£10

      Regnar Ex DoomerX I completely understand.
      If I lived a busy life I’d still make the time to apply a nice thin layer of wax separately (20-30 second a panel and a quick 5 sec buff per panel) total added time approx 5 mins I’ve done it many times obviously add more time on larger cars and more time if you want the wax to cure for longer .
      I know 5 mins is still extra time but think of this way you it’s worth it on the long run because you wouldn’t need to do it again for approx 8 -10 months if you used fk1000p or Collinite or any other good durable wax but if you went with the megs I’d guess you’d need to do it every 3-4 months depending how good the durability is.
      if you use one of those £5 hand car washes or use products which are not PH neutral then more than likely they would strip off all your hard work. Its happened to me after a 2 day detail i went to do my maintenance clean and wasn’t aware of my car shampoo and my wheel cleaner were way to aggressive and all that hard work I put in was comprised 😞 lesson learnt. That wasn’t even that long ago I never knew about ph but after watching forensics detailing channel I’ve learnt so much

    Whew, I sure do not miss hand polishing entire vehicles.. anybody remember TR3 Resin Glaze in the metal cans? That stuff was awesome in its day. My dad still has cans of it in his shop along with a bunch of other detailing products from 20-30+ years ago.
    Looking in that cabinet is like a detailing time machine. Big rough terry cloth towels and his old rotary polisher probably weighs 20 pounds with a giant 9" backing plate and huge rigid shelled fluffy wool pads friggin' 3" thick.. we have it so much easier now, detailing has come a looooong way.. 👍👌✌

    The new formula SRP is much more durable compared to the old one. It's application, as you noted is also less chalky. I think for today's standards you should have tested the current SRP formula as it is quite different.

  • @JWL-UK

    I've been using SRP for years and it's a great product for using by hand and even better if you have a buffer like Ryobi's cordless one. Dusting could be an issue and I agree that spils are hard to avoid. But there's another very good consumer product for paint enhancement that has NO filling capability and is noticeably more abrasive than SRP. That's Poorboys 2.5 and I got the tip from Brian at Apex Detail. I used it this weekend with my Ryobi buffer and a bit by hand on a 12 year old Corsa that had never been polished. I bought the car a month ago and I'm now getting it back to life. The paintwork was sandpaper-like! Anyway, decon, iron remover, 2x clay steps etc later, the car was ready to be polished and the 2.5 did an amazing job very easily! Its ability to remove imperfections and do a deep-clean is awesome. It did not remove much in terms of swirls, that'd require a proper machine. But I was shocked at the results in terms of depth, colour and gloss. Sealed the car with Sonax BSD (rain was coming so no time for anything decent ie Fusso to cure) and that will be it until spring. I plan on using SRP as part of preparation for the summer months as Poorboys did its job already.

    I've lost count of the amount of times the wind has gusted, the bottle has fell on it's side and ejaculated some of the contents onto a bit of plastic trim at quite a high speed. D: The same thing happens with Autoglym Glass Polish.
    If anyone wants to buy Autoglym SRP, then i'd suggest either Ebay for £11 per litre or Amazon and buy the "Super Resin Polish Kit" (500ml+Big sponge Applicator+Finishing cloth) for about £15.50 when it's on sale.

  • @MrPistonhead90

    I love the Autoglym Super Resin Polish, for me it delivers great results with very little effort.
    I have found however that after a few weeks, maybe months the product "melts" into a milky liquid in the bottle after first opening, even after giving it a long hard shake it still flows out quickly like water. Its the new formulation.
    Its performance does not seem to be affected though so I just live with it and use it as normal.

    I use the SRP as a paint cleanser honestly. If you really want to use it as a polish, use it with a machine. By hand it requires way too much work to really make anything happen. I use this with a machine on a dull paint to bring the shine back and to remove imbedded dirt before a really good sealant like a Fusso Coat.

    • @kikcodog
      @kikcodog 4 роки тому

      I have to ask, why would you want to remove a "light" ceramic coating and replace it with a synthetic polymer that won't perform nearly as well? Leave the Moonlight alone until it's dead and then clean it up and reapply if you have enough left. Megs 3-1 is more an All-In-one polish like 3D speed. If you use it with a medium cutting pad and a DA you'll buff out light swirls and scratches. I used to use their cleaner wax the same way for 1-steps and now they've basically taken a product that's been around for 30 years and refined/upped the abrasives and probably tweaked the polymers.

    I’m sticking with srp. I’ve been using it years and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about it. I believe the finish I get using it as a “pre wax” product with a good quality ceramic wax over the top gives me a lovely finish with all the protection I need and it does a great job of masking the micro swirls on my black car. I guess the meg product is okay for those who want the wash apply and go treatment but it’s no hardship really for me to buff twice. Srp and my choice of wax are easy enough to remove when applied sparingly.

      a lot of the megs stuff is crazy money isnt it. especially when it do damn cheap in the US. things like wheel cleaners for 16 quid a bottle or snow foam for 20 quid rrp a litre... dunno they must know what they are doing but, they have lost a lot of shoot outs on my channel becaxuse of the price. I tend to really like how the megs products go on though generally.

    I am commenting around 12 minutes in and have watched you for some time and my comment is in regard to "haze" as far as I am ware most if not all polishes do not recommend drying to a haze? I know specifically the AutoGlym Super Resin mentiones drying to a haze however I would be interested to hear your opinions on this? should you let Super Resin dry to a haze and or buff immediately?

    • @ForensicDetailing

      I would let it dry to a haze. As the solvent vaporizes the resins harden and bond.

    Could you please advise, i'm getting a new car that will be arriving in the winter i don't have a garage and would like to give it some protection before any winter maintenance, i live in a rural area with loads of muddy / gritty lanes so safe washing is important.
    Once i get my vehicle home, would it make sense? to clean by the following process (i have not got any of this yet so feel free to change anything i have suggested).
    Jet wash, lower areas with citrus wash (type?), jet wash, APC (Bilt Hamber Surfex HD), jet wash, snow foam (Bilt Hamber), jet wash, Shampoo (Bilt Hamber), jet wash, Hand Polish ( Autoglym SRP or new Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions polish & Wax ), and lastly some of the new Turtle wax Ceramic Spray Coating.
    Would you miss the mechanical hand polish over the winter to reduce possible scratch issues on this brand new vehicle and maybe do it in the spring?
    Thanks for all your great content you have given me some serious inspiration in these challenging times.

    Sooooo... noob question here: why can’t I hand polish with a polish that’s not labeled for hand polishing? I mean, am I going to damage my paint? Or, is it just not going to be effective without the pressure and motion of a machine polisher??

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 роки тому

      you can. but you cant work fine microabrasives sort of hard enough by hand to correct the paint in a timely fashion.. Ive tried it. you can if you want to take something like Koch H8 and buff out sanding marks by hand but its massivly hard work. Most hand polishes like G3 scratch remover are specifically very very agressive to compensate for the fact you cant work them hard like you can by machine. these products in this video though though use filling to fill fine marks and improve appearance...
