Worst thing about using Auto Glym. When you open the stupid cap and polish splatters all over the place. You'd think they would have changed the design by now.
My favourite Autoglym product is their Instant Tyre Dressing - the mutt's nuts for what it is, but also use SRP and Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax for the bodywork.

Good side-by-side demo there Dave. I have a feeling that SRP looks better due to it's fillers and wax. It would be interesting to see both panels after a few goes with high PH shampoo and panel wipe. Always a little sceptical, me 😎
Very good video Dave... I think the majority of us used SRP and some point yet I think from a lot of people (not all!!) there's an attitude of brand snobbery towards it now... But for hand application, and particularly for beginners, it's a very good product to use and very safe! Personally, I think we should be encouraging the next generation to start off with the same types of products! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Also after polishing headlights with Megs ultimate compound I use the SRP to seal the lense for a nice sparkle and protection. Bling bling baby yeah....
Working times, speed of rotation and pad density all have an impact on finished result, if a rotary was used I think meguiars would way exceed the fillers contained in srp especially after a wash or two
SRP vs Tripple would be very interesting. These are fantastic comparisons. So many YT detailing channels do not cover application by hand in my opinion.
@@DetailingandtheBeast I've seen that thanks. Holding out on going to machine polishing. Trying to find 'best' way of getting good results. Currently use Gtechniq P1 which has no fillers, but am hearing that filling is best way of getting good finish without using a DA.
Im a mobile detailer. My work van other than when it rains, was washed around 4 years ago. I dont care what my van looks like, my customers dont care what my van looks like. My customers care what their vehicle looks like after Ive finished. Im very allergic to SRP. If I get a splash on my skin I get a red sore patch. If I forget gloves or get a hole in one... My skin gets red, sore, dries and cracks open. Only happens when I use SRP... So I choose not to use it regardless.
I use Meg's ultimate compound first then SRP to finish both with a DA polisher and orange foam pad and it works like magic. My metallic lava grey audi pops after this method. Definately I recommend SRP for a simple hand application which is easy every few months to keep a car looking mint.
Then a few washes later any marring and haze from using a compound will resurface.... Because srp is full of fillers hence why it gives such a good result.
@@curse6of6me6 yep that is true which is why repeat application is necessary every few months or top it up with rapid detailer from autoglym. It so easy spray and wipe.
@@LAW-fv6ys or just compound then use an actual polish to remove the haze then seal it. Less having to reapply for no reason and less contact your paint will see which is always beneficial.
SRP hasn't got any abrasive properties at all, it's a fantastic product which uses resin filler to level the clear coat and hence makes them swirls and light scratches disappear, but after some washes it will show again. So for regular care SRP is great hides any marks without the need to machine compound, but if you want the scratches etc gone for good you must compound first then SRP it from then onwards which what I do. Srp hand applied is so easy wipe on in circular motion (no need to work it in like crazy cos it's not going anywhere once its spread evenly) let dry to a haze and buff off. Don't do it the sun it's really hard to get it off if baked on. Lol ask me how I know. Bicep was pumped though haha
Me too Martin. I've got a box full on the shelf, every now and again I reach for the interior cleaner or the tyre shine, of even the Extra Gloss Protection.
I wonder how these would compare to Poorboy's Black Hole? Been using AG SRP forever and ever and ever, epic for bringing milky pinky red cars back to life
Thank you very much for very valuable review. Could sealant such as Fuso or TW ceramic spray be applied over this Autoglym SRP straight away, or do you have to wait for it to cure please ? Does this SRP full much better, than ordinary paste wax ?
Paste waxes do sometimes have a great filling ability, that new TW graphene wax for instance and I demo'd that actually in my review. And yes you can put a wax or sealant on top of SRP. 👍
@@DetailingandtheBeast Thank you very much for your Kind reply. That to me, meaning that it will be better to use paste wax alone. Do you mean that ceramic and graphene infused 75 paste wax ?
@@DetailingandtheBeast Much appreciated. I think this Graphene wax will be my only product then, as it fills and lasts . 2 coats for =12 months protection and no cure time. Sounds like a Complete winner.
Hi, Would it be pointless using super resin polish if my car is ceramic coated??? I have light scratches and swirls coming back . It was only done 9 months ago with 2 year coating . Any advice would be appreciated
Yes this is true, too much talk about professional products vs the 'OFF THE SHELF' consumer products intermating these are inferior. When infact its more about the application and the applicator that makes the difference in the level of finish.
Do you mean "Ultimate Compound"? Yeah I do actually have that on my list. Was gonna see how popular these "vs" videos were before committing to a batch more. Got about 6 or 7 different ones on my ideas list.
@@DetailingandtheBeast No, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Compound are 2 different compounds. Ultimate Compound is more aggressive for removing deeper scratches and Ultimate Polish is more gentle for removing light scratches and swirls. Just wondering if i could get almost the same results by using the autoglym stuff because it's easier to find and it's cheaper, in my country at least.
Dave great video again. How does the Megs SR compare to its own Ultimate Compound? Or is it essentially the same product. Srp is always a great starter polish as you've said and always one to have in the tool box. You can see why AG don't recommend it on a machine polisher after that test though.
Probably just because of it being fast drying on the machine. It wouldnt be difficult for them to reformulate SRP, into say " SRP - machine edition" - full of good ideas! As for Megs. I do have ultimate compound, I'd say I find that more aggressive than both of these. It's a good product by machine.
Yeah great idea on the Srp....when you think AF Triple is machine applicable. I do like the Megs UC. It's easy to use and always one to have in the tool bag a bit like Srp or Triple tbh.
I doubt autoglym will do much compared to swirl remover srp is an aio swirl remover is has no fillers just abrasive I think but who knows what the outcome will be Iv used srp for quite a while it’s good stuff not swirl remover tho
Not giving anything away before the video 😉 but I think you might be slightly surprised (or not) by the outcome.
