- Buying a smartphone is a big decision! Durability is one of the factors is taken into consideration. The New HTC 10 is just released. And its time to be tested. Extreme tests like scratching, bending, and even burning the display are important to get an idea for how well the phone will stand up to the test of time.
Most phones are 'supposed' to last about 2 years... A lot can happen in 2 years. People will sit on their phone, step on their phone, accidentally scratch their phone. My durability tests will give you an idea for how well the HTC 10 will stand up to regular use. I always recommend getting a case and a screen protector... but its still interesting to see how the naked phone will handle life.
How durable is the HTC 10? After scratching the screen, and attempting to bend the phone... you'll have a good idea for how much the phone will be able to handle.

I never really commented in any of your videos, but I am really grateful that you do these kind of videos. Unlike a lot of people of nowadays I am extremely interested to know about a device's build quality/durability before buying it, I don't pamper with a mobile phone or put on case, I don't think a mobile phone should be handled like an infant.

This phone has impressed so many people in almost every way possible. Huge props to HTC this year for putting out a great product. I haven't spent a ton of time with it, but it's impressed the hell out of me.

+SnorkFlirt to be honest, I've had a good amount of hands on time with the 10 and it flies through tasks as well as the Galaxy S7 and LG G5. I've had no complaints so far.

The sound quality on the 10 just can't live up to the sound of the M8.

I totally agree! My ONLY four complaints are: 1) Speakers should both be on the front 2) No IR blaster 3) No HTC Gallery app (its way better than Google Photos for organising images 4) buttons on the front are slightly too low.
Lets be honest, none of these are serious sins, but it just misses out on being classed as 'Perfect'!
I'm going to miss the IR blaster dearly when I upgrade to the 10. Freaks out my kids when I turn off the TV or change the channels from another room. LOL

jerville1 To me, it's not. I still love front facing stereo speakers. It's the same sensor as the 10 and receives updates way quicker. I already have Android Nougat as I was on the Beta Program

Hi guys. I am stil using this beast in 2019 and boy am I glad to do so after this video! There are 3 things Im proud about this phone:the build quality, the Procesor (still eworks perfectly fine even compared to for example to Honor 10, just a bit behind it in loading apps. And it's been 3 Years!!) Then the DAC and AMP + Stereo Speakers. What a beast of a phone!
3 things Im not happy with: The display brightness is pretty poor at sunlight. The battery goes down quick as your pants ehen you see a pornstsr. And the third thing is the lack of a water resistance.

it would be great if you could do a water test. the M8 was not meant to be waterproof but people did tests and it survived submerging.

This is one of the best and most durable smartphone ever build!!
My parents bought me this phone when it came out. Let me tell you that I wasn't one of the most responsible people. About 3 years later, after god knows how many hours of games played on it, after uncountable number of drops and with a cracked screen, cracked camera lens (pictures were still fine somehow) and maybe 20 dents over the entire body, I changed the phone.
A week ago my phone suddenly broke and it so happened that I didn't have a spare one to use until I buy a new one....until I remembered that I never actually threw out the HTC 10. I found it and used it for a week until the new phone arrived. Still one of the best phones ever. Everything worked the way it did when it was bought...almost.
That 7 year old beaten up with games and heat battery was really something xD. Whenever the battery was drained to about 50-55% (atleast that is what the phone showed) the phone would simple turn off because the battery was dead....and by scrolling in facebook it would go from 100 to 50 and turn off in about hour and a half. Have to admit it wasn't the most usable phone in the world but I managed by using the "extreme power saver" mode and never actually turn on the screen (which consumes the most energy). That way I managed to extend the battery life to around 8 hours while still using the phone for calls. Have to say I am a little proud of this achivement.
zach i see what you did there. it shows that you like this phone a bit more than others. you did not scratch the home/fingerprint scanner as badly as the other smartphones you've tested. yet again who wouldn't love this piece of beastly.

LG is my choice and I've owned from the LG g5 up to g7 until i switched to the V series and owned a v30 and now a v40. I always buy the phone like a year after they release so i can pay less for them. Carried HTC10 for about a year without a case before I cracked the screen. I was using it as a flashlight working on my car and dropped a wrench on it. About to drop a new screen in it tonight. I switched back to my m9 and it's behaving pretty good after a hard reset.

What an absolutely awesome video. The HTC10 is a work of love! It's an engineering work of art. Though the display does have issues. If you use the phone like a gamepad, apply both thumbs to the screen while holding the edges to the palms of your hand in landscape (like holding a regular gamepad with twin analog sticks). This causes my HTC 10 to bug out sometimes. I had to replace it, but the replacement did it too. Not as badly. So I stuck with it. Their display model at the store did it easily. Some don't have the issue at all. It's so niche and specific to trigger it. Bit I can't imagine it being unnoticed by any gamer. But since many don't game on their phones, this issue will probably never really get headlines. Overall the phone is a delight to use. Seeing you try to destroy it was both horrifying and beautiful. By attempting to break the phone, you ended up actually building it in the eyes of others. Thank you.

It blows my mind just how horribly unorganized the old HTC were. Usually phones are beautiful on the inside, but HTC somehow managed to make it look like an utter disaster. Amazing how far they have come.

Just got this unlocked for Christmas. It's awesome. It's not as feature packed as my dad's S7 Edge (water resistance, Samsung Pay) but it seems to have better battery life, much better audio quality in both headphones and speakers, and it launches apps faster. Camera is VERY good, ALMOST Samsung level, and the user experience with Android Marshmallow (waiting for reviews before moving to Nougat) with HTC Sense is immaculate.
The build quality is where this thing shines. The phone itself is a tank, and the accessories it comes with are very well built too.
Awesome phone. 10/10. Only didn't do well commercially because of shitty carriers and a saturated market.

this is the first major htc device which has impressed me thus far not only is it durable but also nails all the specs sheet.flattering design with chamfered sides and the attention to detail soo awesome i think my s6 finally deserves a replacement.s7 has impressed me but i sse no point buying it because s6 and s7 have much things in common

those ridges on the phone are called chamfers and yes they add a lot of strength to an otherwise flat piece of steel, watching this on my HTC 10 made me cringe, but also made me feel good about my device haha thanks for the review! subscribed!
