I'm 52. Today I decided to buy myself an Electric Guitar and learn to play. This is the first time I've ever listened to Eric Clapton and I have to say, I didn't know until now just how good a guitar player he is :) My guitar arrives this week and I can't wait to start this new journey in my life ;)
+Jez2008UK I started at age 43. Been playing for 5 years now. I'm not very good, but I really enjoy learning and playing. Best of luck to you Jez2008UK !
+Jez2008UK I played alot during jr high through about age 20, got a career and played less and less. Just started playing again and i think im more excited the second time around. Picking it up again im a little older, with more appreciation for what i had, and more patience to learn new things.
+Jez2008UK haha funny to hear ^^ you should play every day then if you want to get good! i hope you'll enjoy it. a tip'' use the channel ''Cifra club'' its Portuguese but they have a nice system of teaching us a song. dont die from the pain in your fingers and keep playing ;) have fun
Eric Clapton wrote Tears in Heaven after his 4-year old son died falling from the 53rd floor of an apartment on 20 March 1991. That dreadful accident is the reason why Manhattan apartments all have window guards to prevent such tragedies from happening again. I was a doctor at Bellevue Hospital at the time. It is the most moving song ever written and performed by a grieving father for his son. Clapton was 46 at the time. Clapton’s music, singing, and guitar playing became deeper and better. His music became true blues and Clapton is the best blues guitarist of his generation.
#TearsInHeaven saved my life after my Mom’s suicide. Literally, everyone thought I was going to die. I wasn’t eating. I wasn’t sleeping. My boss debated training someone else to be assistant manager. I was down to a size zero being way too big! I heard this song 🎶 went out, had a t-shirt made with Mom’s picture on it. And it was printed with the words ‘no more tears in Heaven.’
I'm a 67 year old man and through all the years I've been listening to classic rock Clapton is my favorite!! This concert is awesome. Listened to it over 100 times.
He is the best! There's another one, recorded in Sitzerland if I may recall, that's absolutely great also. Paul Carrack is with him. Try to watch @Gregory Gouillon
А я благодарю ютюб-канал, который мне напомнил об одном из любимых моих рок - музыкантов !!! Как же здорово, что возможно услышать музыку, какую и я отношу к высшему пилотажу !!!
Clapton is the perfect rock blues guitar player. He has the feeling, passion, talent, technique and virtuosity. He knows the blues, the roots, and he loves to pay tribute to his heroes. But also was a pioneer on his own, a true original. He is not a dumb shredder, he doesn't stand on the stage just to show off. He knows exactly where to go, how and when, but it doesn't feel calculated though, it feels natural because he can do whatever he wants with the instrument. His guitar is his voice, he sings with it, cries with it, celebrates with it. He is brutaly honest and sincere when he plays the blues. That's why Eric "Slowhand" Clapton is the best guitar player that has ever lived for me.
Look at this guy: one of the top guitar players ever opens the show by playing alone with just an acoustic guitar. Long live Eric Clapton! Long live rock and roll!
12 -20-2024 in a week I will be 77 years old. From my early years, the middle 1950's, I always enjoyed music from the early years of rock and roll to the present. There are always controversy of who is the best guitarist. All of them have there own style so no one can say who is the best guitarist. There is no one better than Eric Clapton, his style of music goes through every range of emotion a person has. Happy ,Sad, Thoughtful, Worry, Love and Peaceful and many more. WOW !! I so love his music.
Maybe Eric Clapton is not the best guitarist in the World , but he is good enough + He is excellent singer + excellent band + very good songs + attitude = ABSOLUTELY the BEST(!!!) performance. This is REAL music!!! I love E.C.!!!!!!!!
Maybe he's not the best? And probably, most likely, he is the best. It's been said Eric is God. I don't approve of that, but there's a reason for that. Eric is a great guitarist and a really good singer. That 's pretty nice.
If Clapton has ever been more at the top of his game than in this concert, it would be truly breathtaking to experience it. He is confident, mature, humble, technically brilliant without ever once seeming mechanical. His "old standards" are as fresh as they ever were -- maybe better than they were back in the day. He has assembled a band made up of some of the very best in the business -- guys who wouldn't play in just anyone's band, and their mutual respect makes the whole concert come alive. Anyone who hasn't been around enough to know "what the big deal" is about Clapton just needs to watch this.
My God ! The depth of the talent thats on this stage is amazing, the concert setlist easily showcases each musicians individual musical skills ! this is a gem of a concert !
Eric was really feeling it this night...relaxed and totally under control. All of his chops were on display, and his voice was so free and powerful. Have mercy! And what a band...great dynamics and perfect support!

I saw this show as well. I thought the concert was masterfully played but a little low key. I think I’ve seen EC in all of his incarnations. It’s often hit and miss. Again, always well played but sometimes very low key. I have to say that with regards to high energy level, his “Nothing But the Blues” tour was great as was Crossroads 2004.
Place Clapton in a crowd of 100 people, he may not be recognized. Place Clapton's guitar solos with 100 others, and Clapton's will easily be identified.
link biff Because blues guitarists don't play to get attention, they simply play whatever they feel. Guys like Steve Vai and EVH can play million notes per second and yet they fail to give you an thrill. Because is the dynamics(that blues player use) that make guitar solos interesting.
I know, my reply was more to Leonardo than to you, you never said anything about EVH failing to give thrills. Eddie Van Halen is one of the best guitar players of all times, VERY different from Clapton, but great nonetheless.
When Eric Clapton son died I was working in the city, the New York Post and they showed his son with a blanket over him, I had a daughter that age at the same time and I swore from that day on I would never buy the New York Post anymore. Such a tragedy I don't know how Eric Clapton could handle that. The song tears in heaven is so beautiful and I cry everytime I hear it
I am a musician, 65 years old, and understand music to the fullest extent. I have played out since I was 13 years old. Started when I was 7. I'm coming at this at a different view. As a musician, I know all musicians envy these great people. How many can say I'm as talented as these people? They have a gift from God to be able to perform like they do. If I was half as smart as any of them I'd have it made. What a gift. Not just this style of music, but they can perform any style of music. I think only musicians will understand what I am saying. I love any type of music, but these men are unbelievable. What an excellent knowledge of music. All I can say is young people, musicians, what ever you do try to understand their gift and no matter what kind of music you play, understand it to be as talented as these people. By the way, this concert toke me back when I was growing up when Eric first started playing, now he's a genius at playing and understanding music. Really, really, loved this concert. Hat's off to all of them. Great talent and I'm jealous!!!!! LOL I always said that if I had one thing in life I want to have the mind of My God given talent in music. Now does any of you understand my point? Play hard and learn how to be the best at anything
I HAVE SEEN ERIC IN CONCERT IT WAS AWESOME!! I TOOK MY FIRST GUITAR LESSONS IN 1978.I TOOK MUSIC THEORY IN HIGH SCHOOL IN A SO CALLED GUITAR CLASS.NEVER WAS A GOOD GUITAR PLAYER LOVE MUSIC.BUT WHAT I AM THE MOST GOD PUT IN ME IS TO LOVE JESUS CHRIST WITH ALL MY HEART AND TO PREACH AND TEACH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST TO WHO EVER WILL HEAR IT.I HAVE SEEN AMAZING MIRACLES AND WILL SEE MORE!! COME ON RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART REPENT TURN AWAY FROM ALL SIN READ BIBLE. HE IS COMING SOON!! YESHUA HAMASHIAC JESUS THE CHRIST!!
This is, without a doubt, one of the very best musical assembles I have ever witnessed in my 63 years on this lord's beautiful earth. Thank you so very much!
Clapton is a personal hero of mine, though his music was iconized a bit before my time I was, and am still, a huge life long fan. He is maybe the most humble super star ever and honestly seems like a man of integrity. SO much respect.
I like the way he seems to always wear regular clothes to perform a show. No pretense. Just a man. His passion. His guitar. Eric Clapton is very beautiful to me💕
3 guitarist sent from Heaven....Tears from heaven...still the greatest...live performance in my opinion...There will never be another MR ERIC CLAPTON. He is absolutely one of the greatest

This video just came on auto play after I was listening to something else and it was my first exposure to Eric Clapton. I've heard the name of course, but I was completely blown away by what I heard! I'm familiar with Steve Gadd's work so I stuck around for more of the concert and I was not disappointed. For his incredible writing and singing while shredding on the guitar, it's easy to see why Eric is considered a true musical legend.
This is a great concert! Eric Clapton : Champion Guitar Virtuoso of the 20th Century. And Maybe the 21st! Backed by a truly stellar cast of great musicians... Wow!
@@neildavid7712 yeah well thats whwat makes a good singer, knowing how and where and when t use your voice.Your right its hard to tell whats better, thats why he is best imo
Aside from MTV Unplugged, to me this is the best Clapton concert (I'm talking about the senior citizen/post sober era of his musical career). I have a personal DVD copy of this concert, watched it more than 50 times (easily), but I'm still holding back my tears watching his rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"
I just spent the last 2 hours gushing over this. In these covid times with no concerts in sight, it truly lifted my spirits. What musicianship. I'm exhausted with tears in my eyes.
River of tears, Eric is on fire, he bares his soul with his voice and his guitar.Nobody, I say nobody even comes close to this art, this expression of feelings and emotions through music. The rest is silence.
Eric Clapton is one out-freaking-standing songwriter, musician, and singer. But what makes him the G.O.A.T. is how he respects his musicians. Gives them all opportunities to shine. Cool as fill-in-the-blank Eric.👍❤👍
For people who wonder about who's in the band: Eric Clapton - guitar / vocals Andy Fairweather Low - guitar / vocals David Sancious - keyboards / guitar / vocals Greg Phillinganes - keyboards Nathan East - bass / vocals Steve Gadd - drums
I've been going to his Shows for 40 years. Also have had the pleasure, numerous times, to catch him playing with the Allman Brothers. 50 years ago they called him "God". And he's only gotten better. Truly incredible what this man has done, and continues to do. ✌
Hi Julian how are you doing, hope you are having a lovely day. Your profile looks adorable and attracted my attention with the post you like and commented here I don't mind being friends with you, feel free to message me directly on my email if you don't mind Pedrohilson543@gmail.com```
@@dylanmyers3082 I was referring to the time period in London when his fans would write "Clapton is God" on practically every wall they could find. I wasnt talking about Bob Dylan, he was quite obviously one of the greatest influences in music in the 20th Century, but his nickname was "The Jester". Now, as far as Eric's opinions of other guitarists, hes always been extremely vocal about them. For instance, he happened to catch Wilson Pickett's version of the Beatles "Hey Jude" (which is amazing if youve not heard it). After hearing the song, Clapton started phoning everyone he knew to try to find out just WHO was playing Guitar, which he finally found out was a "guy named Skydog Allman", later finding out it was Duane. He called it "the best Rock guitar he ever heard. Just a few days later, Eric, along with the rest of what would turn into Derek and The Dominos were taken to see an Allman Brothers Show, sitting up front in the Press Pit. They knew who Eric was, they DIDNT know why he was there..after the concert, they brought them all backstage, they hung out for a while, and Eric invited them back to the studio he was recording at in Florida. Needless to say, they literally jammed until well after sunrise. Thank God someone was smart enough to jump into the sound booth and start the tape recording. They reportedly went thru 3 Electronic Soundboard Techs, and thats where all "The Jams" come from on the Derek and The Dominos "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" album. Duane even asked Eric to join the Allman Brothers Band, but he declined. He does, on occasion, still jam with them as a "surprise guest" at some shows. I saw him a few nites in a row at The Beacon Theater in their "Spring Residence" where they play for a month during the Allmans 40th Anniversary Tour in 2008. Eric was absolutely FLAWLESS, Derek Trucks wouldve made Duane proud with his Slide skills. Eric was even quoted as telling Derek as they walked offstage that he "hadnt played like that since 1969". The man has been thru SO much pain of all kinds, and has always managed to turn it into some of history's best music. Hell...hes the ONLY person whos been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame THREE TIMES. We've lost so many great "Legends" just in the past few years, but Eric just keeps going. He truly is the ultimate Bluesman. ✌
A fan since CREAM as a teenager in Raymondville, Texas. Now in my 70s in 2024 in sunny San Diego and still enjoying Clapton's music. It's been a long ride.
The bassist is one of the most recorded ever. Name any rock, pop and jazz artist and chances are he had recorded with them one time or another. That's Nathan East. Same goes with the drummer Steve Gadd.
***** Thanks for the info John. Actually I didn't knew him nor the drummer but truth is that in most cases people don't really give credit to the bassist or the drummer
This must be one of the greatest concerts ever! I mean in Life! Mr Clapton, Sir, You are amazing! And what a band.. WHAT a band!!! I´m in love with this music and I feel simply wonderful!!
Watching Clapton nurdling about on the guitar @ 1:32:58 and then the change when he clicks into the famous Layla riff is quite fascinating, seeing that shift in consciousness.
What can I say? All there is to say...all I have to say...all I can say between the tears of sheer joy and inspiration...is thank you. There is a place “over the rainbow” for us all. I’ll see you there Mr. Clapton. Since I was 10 years of age, I heard your voice. Since I was ten years of age, I was enthralled and in love with music. All because of you. God Bless you always.
Yes, the two songs that always get to me in this concert (heck, they all do...) are River of tears and She's gone. I could listen to them over and over (heck, that's exactly what I do...). Been a fan since the mid 60s, and will be one until I die. God Bless you Mr Clapton.
Here are the two reasons why Eric Clapton is unique. 1. His song book is so varied. He covers everything from easy listening to psychedelic rock. 2. There are many brilliant guitar players, but he goes beyond virtuosity. Eric Clapton always manages to project emotion and always transports you with him more than any other rock musician. Those two qualities alone are remarkable, when you put them together it is mind boggling.
What I love about Clapton’s gigs is he gives all the musicians room to express themselves. So much mutual respect on that stage. They all feed off each other and combine to produce something of extraordinary quality. He is a master band leader and it is great to see every musician totally into the music. It is also helps having one hell of a back catalog of music to choose from. It seems effortless but I bet these guys enjoy putting in the hard yards rehearsing together. Not seen him live since Shanghai in 2007 and may never get the opportunity again but this Budokan gig is certainly one to treasure.
@Chris Radle Wouldn't go that far. He has sinned , just like the rest of us. Didn't he steal George Harrison's wife? Still he is the best and I love him.
No one STEALS anyone's wife they all leave of their own accord , usually because their man wasn't attentive enough or couldn't support them well enough financially. Obviously not true in George's case.
The most expensive ticket I have ever bought, it was for Claptons concert in 2018 September at MSG, he played 100 minutes none stop, and he gave absolutely outstanding performance endeed.

EVH's style is just as recognizable as clapton's.
I wasn't saying anything about his style. I was just pointing out that Clapton is extremely ordinary looking, but he plays guitar so fucking well.

I could see that, but I felt the original post needed some explaining since Leonardo didn't seem to get it.
He sure gives people value for the ticket. Eric Clapton, still on top at the halfway mark of a great career.
This has got to be one of his best concerts! Lovin it!

Well put Leo ! But you don,t need to be a musician to understand , just a heart and soul.

Eric Clapton playing Live at Budokan ... this is legendary

His guitar. Eric Clapton is very beautiful to me💕
quel bonheur de voir Eric Clapton libéré de ses addictions, heureux et en bonne santé
Huge courage needed to play electric and acoustic versions of the same song in one concert!

Wow!
Its hard to tell if Mr. Clapton has the best vocals or best guitar skills. There is nothing next to his blues vocals. The champ, the inspiration.
His voice is tailored to match his guitar skills.
@@neildavid7712 yeah well thats whwat makes a good singer, knowing how and where and when t use your voice.Your right its hard to tell whats better, thats why he is best imo
My God! Steve Gadd is an awesome drummer. I absolutely love his style.
It wasn`t Steve Gadd !
Definitely was Steve Gadd
If i get a time machine, I'd time travel to watch this concert live.
A living legend in one of his best live performances. Mr Eric Clapton!!
Thank you Johnny, for succinctly without dissecting his greatest. He simply is the not eclectic guitarist ever.
" his greatness".
@@richardreale4552 you’re really welcome!
@@richardreale4552 I’m a guitarist too and Eric’s always been my idol and my guide. Also, I discovered the blues mainly thanks to him…
Aside from MTV Unplugged, to me this is the best Clapton concert (I'm talking about the senior citizen/post sober era of his musical career). I have a personal DVD copy of this concert, watched it more than 50 times (easily), but I'm still holding back my tears watching his rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"
Exactly 2 hours, to close the circle of how beautiful this show is
Eric Clapton is a great guitar player, he and Prince are the greatest I ever heard.
Try John McLaughlin
Not Prince
This is absolutely one of his best concerts!
The best is "just one night"...
*2022 and still this music makes me remember the good days*
tears in Heaven always makes me cry omg
Just listening to Eric Clapton is all I need to make me happy
He makes it seem so effortless, what a fantastic show. Wish I could have been there !!
What a joy to have Steve Gadd on the drums...
He is THE man to sit behind the skins! That said, I've just seen Sonny at the kit for Eric during the current tour - and man could he play!
one of the best concerts of all time :)
Never tired listening to Eric
Eric Clapton's music is sheer energy how can you even use words that I didn't get tired,
I just spent the last 2 hours gushing over this. In these covid times with no concerts in sight, it truly lifted my spirits. What musicianship. I'm exhausted with tears in my eyes.
Stay brave, we all will go through this shit One dau

River of tears, Eric is on fire, he bares his soul with his voice and his guitar.Nobody, I say nobody even comes close to this art, this expression of feelings and emotions through music. The rest is silence.
Never really appreciated how good of a guitar player Eric was...wow.
In this time of lockdown, I enjoyed listening to this..good music of Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton is one out-freaking-standing songwriter, musician, and singer. But what makes him the G.O.A.T. is how he respects his musicians. Gives them all opportunities to shine. Cool as fill-in-the-blank Eric.👍❤👍
Yes! He really puts his heart and soul into the music and has overcome so much. Big respect for EC
Just so great to listen to your music . thank you Eric Clapton
For people who wonder about who's in the band:
Eric Clapton - guitar / vocals
Andy Fairweather Low - guitar / vocals
David Sancious - keyboards / guitar / vocals
Greg Phillinganes - keyboards
Nathan East - bass / vocals
Steve Gadd - drums

Classy and elegant.... this guy made one of the best performances in Japan I ever seen!!! I have been there!!! Unforgettable!!!

놀라운 곡들로 가득찬 콘서트. 장인정신이 녹아 있는 기타의 울림. 평생을 기타를 통해 우리에게 음악이란 연주란 이것이다라고 전해주는 에릭 크랩튼은 살아있는 전설!
God bless you, dear Slowhand.
There is one Eric Clapton the Legend , I saw him in Amsterdam 1985 , incredible solos as I have never seen.

Hello yaying💕🙏💝
Для меня таким концертом все же является MTV Unplugged.
I'm with you.
I particularly love the name of your channel, ty @Happyvideochannel!
Your profile looks adorable and attracted my attention with the post you like and commented here I don't mind being friends with you, feel free to message me directly on my email if you don't mind

Bob dylans god
Just ask Eric
River of tears! Blows me away every time I hear this version. It’s that stop!! ❤️
Lots of people don't give credit. But that bassist is very very good and the drummer as well
That bassist (Nathan East) is actually recognized as one of the most talented progressive musicians alive, check him out on wikipedia :P
Federico Meini Wikipedia is always right x) thanks man x)
i believe that's steve gad on drums
The bassist is one of the most recorded ever. Name any rock, pop and jazz artist and chances are he had recorded with them one time or another. That's Nathan East. Same goes with the drummer Steve Gadd.
***** Thanks for the info John. Actually I didn't knew him nor the drummer but truth is that in most cases people don't really give credit to the bassist or the drummer
このコンサートに大学2年の息子を連れて行きました。超懐かしいです。
有難う御座います、嬉しいです。
Wonderful tonight Eric Clapton!!!
thanks for playing bell bottom blues. Underrated classic
This must be one of the greatest concerts ever! I mean in Life! Mr Clapton, Sir, You are amazing! And what a band.. WHAT a band!!! I´m in love with this music and I feel simply wonderful!!
Thanks, Eric Clapton and youtube!
That original version of LAYLA Oh my god .. it was so hypnotizing .. it's like a masterpiece.. so perfectly done i dont know what else i can say...
Clapton is fantastic.
Watching Clapton nurdling about on the guitar @ 1:32:58 and then the change when he clicks into the famous Layla riff is quite fascinating, seeing that shift in consciousness.
the sound is brain melting, other worldly. Legendary
It is very cool how Eric Clapton shares his love and joy and talent with all listeners in every song. God Bless Eric and everyone from Patrick
Oh Lordy, see comment above.
Eric and everyone = everyone
The intro to River of tears....... Wow. The best vibrato in the world. Eric proving (as always) that it's not about shredding. NOBODY does it better.
Yes, the two songs that always get to me in this concert (heck, they all do...) are River of tears and She's gone. I could listen to them over and over (heck, that's exactly what I do...). Been a fan since the mid 60s, and will be one until I die. God Bless you Mr Clapton.
It's amazing. Almost 20 years have passed by, but the typical voice, ways of playing and tones never got obsoleted.
I don't know what happen to me with River of Tears, but i need to listen and listen continuously. Its hypnotic: the voice, the guitar, everything.
I feel the same. And the version of this concert, is one of the bests for me.
Excellence has a name = Eric Clapton . This is...special
Eric Clapton music is the sound track of my life🎸
Semplicemente FANTASTICO!!! Eric Clapton è un Grandissimo come sempre.
He has such finesse. Amazing.
If your a deep Clapton fan check out Pros And Cons of Hitchhiking Roger Waters HIGHLY RECOMEND IT
@Chris Radle Wouldn't go that far. He has sinned , just like the rest of us. Didn't he steal George Harrison's wife? Still he is the best and I love him.
Indeed
No one STEALS anyone's wife they all leave of their own accord , usually because their man wasn't attentive enough or couldn't support them well enough financially. Obviously not true in George's case.
Very impressive. One of Clapton's best concerts. Thanks so much.
He grew up with his grandparents 50s
Survived drug addiction in the 70s
Lost his son in the 90s
Los his best friend in 2001
And he's still rocking!
You mean george harrison?
