@@lpl723 Okay. But since I met Marcus in Detroit when we were both 16 and he has maintained a close relationship with my younger sister in Detroit, I know how important Detroit and the Detroit vibe is to him. IJS
I saw him live in Washington, DC... I left the concert speechless. It was truly an amazing experience to watch artists that have mastered their crafts. MM is a beast!!!!
Having a real piano on this tune made an incredible difference. The whole composition seemed to breathe and sound almost bebop natural. All we need now is for someone to tell Marcus to release on vinyl!
he, the master of bass, is coming to paris. this june 2013. and i have tickets, yes i have tickets! i will see the master live. cant wait for this event.
Detroit is home for me and this song captures the eloquence of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the raw funk of the most kick ass Mustang off the Ford production line. Well done gentlemen!
It's great that in this age where the music "Business " is ruled by marketing men there still are musicians who are as great as this and that such fantastic is still being played !
Music at it's finest. Piano solo awesome, horns are tight, drums are on point. Guitar great. Last but most important the bass can't say enough. Marcus Miller is the man
I am a guitarist by trade, but I try everything else I can, but I pretty much leave the bass alone because I watch Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, and Victor Wooten, and I'm like "fuck it, I'll just go sit in the corner with my guitar and cry!"
Patriot45 I am an amateur philosopher by trade. No string instruments for me. Yet, I sit down next to you with 'my' four instruments, crying in silence. Smile Debating you in the end if our crying was joy or sorrow. Me, joy, ( - : nice to read and think you. Best, u
Marcus Miller music is basically jazz fusion (jazz with a twist of funk, rock, r&b, and psychedelic). Its not original jazz (old school jazz), but it is jazz. Great stuff.
jazz is all about improv, self expression and usually revolves around the musical tastes and styles of the era. what u just said is ominously absolute and is in total conflict with what jazz is all about. u did however redeem yourself by stating that what MM is doing is great stuff. Can't argue with u there. Think real deep. Like Marcus. And you'll understand why u can't make statements like "It's not original jazz".
I just can't stop listening to Marcus, he' s actually to me the god forf what music has to be ..puting the light on other wonderful musicians , and giving to us all the best still !! thank youuuuu Marcus the feline is on the stage !!!
Is it just me or does Alex Han have alot of "Cannonball" adderly in him???!!!! Beautiful tone. Deft touch. Serious dexterity. And the lyricism!!! Blimey!!!!!
Que puedo decir! Tuve la suerte de conocerlo en Paris. Un musico excepsional y una persona muy humilde. El show fue increible! un teatro repleto bailando al ritmo de Mister Marcus! este es mi tema favorito..Gracias Lara!
Seeing this song performed live last week at the Low Country Jazz Festival in Charleston South Carolina, was truly Amazing and it’s still a banger #MarcusMillersBad
First time checking these guys out. Just heard this band was in a bad bus crash in Switzerland and Miller was injured along with others. Hope everybody is going to be alright. Nice sound.
Marcus' bass is a '75 Fender Jazz bass that was fitted some time ago with a pre-amp by Roger Sadowsky, a NYC luthier famous for Sadowsky basses. This explains the extended pickguard. It also has a Leo Quan Bass Ass bridge. Fender now sells a Marcus Miller Signature bass in 4- and 5-string versions, but it's not their design, it's Sadowsky's.
Long live Marcus Miller, rip Bernard Edwards, the king of cool Bernard gone too soon at that Tokyo gig, probably the greatest bass player that ever touched earth..
Disputable ) Technically - it’s fantastic! Overblown notes - awesome! But almost not a single note is in harmony… Can’t understand (and can’t stand) this in modern jazz🥴
this songs so good they named a place after it
Nope, the place is good and Marcus’s connection to it so indelible that he named a song after it!😉
