    I just got a LUMIX DMC-G7K. This is by far and away one of the most informative videos out there. When I unboxed it and looked at ALL the buttons, dials, symbols and settings, I thought wTf ?!! Your video really made this camera simple to understand. I started shooting photos waaaay back in the sixties with a 35mm Cannon. You explained all the bells and whistles in a clear, concise and understandable video. Thank you very much for such a great video. Just what I looking for !! Thank you! I had to share this hilarity with anyone reading... I just started learning this camera and it's the first one of its kind I've ever owned, and not only did this video help me understand all the overwhelming buttons, but perhaps the biggest revelation for me was that the camera screen flips around and folds over so that it lays flat on the camera -- the whole time I was experimenting with the camera for the first time I kept thinking, why did they make the screen stick out from the camera like this 🤣🤣🤣 I'm laughing out loud at myself. Thank you for the revelation!

    This is really good and straight to the point. I'm actually an old school nikon fm10 manual camera user and this is my second micro 4/3 camera, my first being the epl-5. I have to say i was fairly overwhelmed by all the buttons and menus and submenus on the epl-5. With the G7 and especially after this video, I really feel like I completely understand this camera, like really. I think I could tutor someone else, that's how confident I am now. It's almost like this video helped contextualize all the other reading I'd done in manuals for the epl-5 and the g7. Everything just clicked.

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  4 роки тому +4

      For 4K video, I would shoot at the highest option which is 30p. This will give you a cinematic look but also keep in mind because it’s only 30 frames, you will need to move your camera slowly and smoothly as to not miss any frames in between movements.

      Yes, it does come with an external charger. However, you can ALSO charge through the body via micro USB cable, which is also used to update firmware and transferring photos from camera to computer without a card reader.

    • @nikonbilly
      @nikonbilly 3 роки тому +1

    Thanks for this really useful information, I really liked it, and wondered how it was done. I do however have some comments to make. I currently have the following counts.
    PWRCNT 218
    SHTCNT 1678
    STBCNT 8
    I have not long had my camera and I have 218 in the PWRCNT.
    The very fist day I had it I turned on Electronic shutter only, before I had even take a shot but still have 1678 so I think it records all shutter actuations both electronic and mechanical.
    Finally the STBCNT can not be strobe as I have never fired it and still have a count of 8. I belive STBCNT stands for STandBy CouNT which makes more sense to me.
    I hope this helps. Once again thanks for taking the time to share this information.

    Hello Ms Shutterbug, great video! You mentioned you would be doing a detailed video on AFS/AFF AFC , have you done that yet ? Specifically I am interested in learning how to use these different settings and when is the best time to use them while shooting video. Also, how does the AF/AE lock button work? ....Also I’m confused, because in settings I have Continuous AF on, but when I go to shoot video, the display mode screen has a readout that says AF off with an icon of a finger touching a square bullseye . FYI; I have the button on the outside of the camera selected to AFS/AFF. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated !

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  3 роки тому +2

      Hi there viewers! Thank you for watching. Here is the link for the focus modes and areas: ua-cam.com/video/0ajF1YRfA2s/v-deo.html
      When it comes to the AF/AE lock button, that allows you to lock in the lighting that you want in a specific area, like a backlit subject or making the subject a silhouette. More about metering in this video: ua-cam.com/video/XZyK7Yp0Wpo/v-deo.html
      As for your video focus, you will want to set your switch to AFC, and if you have your focusing mode on tracking, it wants you to touch the screen where you want it to track in the frame to lock the focus.
      Hope this helps!

    Can I ask how can I take photos with not much blur.

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  3 роки тому

      Great question! If your photos are blurry, you need the camera to take a faster photo! This is where your shutter speed mode can help! Use the S mode and use the minimum 1/500 to however fast it can go (I think 1/4000 or 1/8000). The higher the number the faster the photo, so it will depend on how fast you or your subject is moving. I would set your ISO to auto until you can master your shutter speed and aperture. :)

    QUESTION: The AE/AF LOCK button on my G7 has NO PHYSICAL FEEL. There is no click like every single other button on the camera. Is this normal or do you think the button is broken?

      Is the button moving in and out when you push it? There shouldn’t be a click, but you should feel it move.

    This is so helpful! I'll have to watch a few times, but that is me - slow to memorize until actually using/doing and see how it comes out. I got this to try getting pics of birds n squirrels in yard. I would love to get night shots of owls if possible, but have no idea how to do any yet. Really excited to experiment. Thank you for teaching an old lady new tricks. The store had me buy a SanDisk Extreme plus SDXC UHS-1 128G memory level 3. Is this ok for video of birds/critters on the move? TY again. Peace🎇🌠🌄🦉🦅🦋

      That should be a great card to handle the buffering using continuous shooting for animals! Sounds like they got you set up to start successfully! Let me know if you have any questions!

      @@Shutterbug101 Thank you! I am so looking forward to using it. I had a young skunk waddling thru my yard last night and I wished I had been able to experiment with him but my car scared him off. Thank you for your offer. I hope to take you up on it soon 😃 Happy Spring from Maine.

    Is A mode a kind of digital aperture? When I've got mine on A it's not moving the lens' aperture.

      A is definitely just a regular aperture mode. Have you tried using both of the adjustment dials? One will do the speed on the S mode, the other will be the aperture in the A mode.

    Do you know what cable I need to get to plug into the av out port? You mentioned that operates like a USB in relation to transferring files to a computer right?

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  3 роки тому +1

      The AV port has two functions: one function is to see photos and videos on a tv screen from the camera with the Panasonic DMC-AVC1 cable, and the other function is using it as a USB connection to upgrade firmware and transfer files with the Panasonic DMC-USBC1 cable.

    Wow. This was so well done. I learned a lot. I still have what looks like parentheses on the lcd screen. What is that and how do I get rid of it? Thanks.

      Ah I believe that’s the level, hit the DISP. button on the back of the camera until your happy with the display. That should give you a basic option with no level!

    I received this camera as a gift, but am hoping to be able to photograph birds from quite a distance. The included lens doesn’t zoom very far. Are there other ways to increase zoom? If not, what other lens would enable more zoom?? Thanks for this great video; it was very helpful!
