Autochords is just okay. If you are an Ableton user ( it might work with the regular version of Max too) There is a Max for live device called J74 progressive. It is a chord generator like Autochords just a million times better and more customizable. You can choose to keep it in scale choose from the 1 - 3 inversion of a chord. You can add 7, 9 etc and also use borrowed chords as well. The system uses the chord number system so it's very easy to use. It also allows you to choose strum mode which will change the timing of your chords to sound like they would if a guitar player was strumming them. It has an arp mode as well. Since it works directly with the midi in Ableton it saves you the time of having to import the chords to the piano roll. The same people made an accompanying device that will fit in a bass line automatically as you create your chords. The bass line you can create can be as simple as just following the root of your chords or it can have tons of movement in the bass line as well. Oh yeah the chords device J74 progressive also has a live mode which allows you to rearrange and substitute chords on the fly till you get a progression you like. You don't have to know music theory to use it but a basic understanding of the chord number system and very basic music theory will help you use it. If you don't know any music theory I highly recommend hook theory and a free ebook called hack music theory. The people who wrote it (hack music theory( have a UA-cam channel as well.

Not sure if you know but Cubase has what's called a "Chord Track" which does exactly what the autochords website does, but the track is implemented into your project, and you can audition the chords using any vst instrument in your project too, pretty cool feature for a DAW.
